Hey guys I'm thinking about kicking off my own campaign here in the Paizo forums. I would definitely give you guys priority if youre interested I really like this group. Just want to gauge any interest as I build plans. This would be my first PBP game but definitely not my first time as GM.

This is not meant to replace this campaign AT ALL so if you only have room in your schedule for one game then probably better to hang out here and see how this shakes out with GMMichael (who I'm pretty worried about at this point TBH).

Any preferences that would make you more inclined (1e or 2e, AP or series of one shots, PFS scenarios, campaign or story theme?) I'd love to get some or all of you involved.

Straug exhales heavily at the mention of the missing boat.

Angradd's hammer they could have drifted anywhere in one of those things!

Looking at Tark he says Probably makes it a bit harder for you track too doesnt it boy-o?

Mulling it over for a few seconds more he says.

Well if we are settled on going after these kids theres nothing to it but to start there...

Having arrived to the meeting ready for the road he indicates he will head there directly and the others should prepare if they need to and meet him by the Mill.

Straug grimaces a bit at hearing the news.

Feel lucky to have gotten out of those deep woods once alive, but I feel stronger for it.

Trying to picture the kids as described mentally from when he has seen them around town he tries to put together any scraps of information that might help.

Who saw them last and where was it? Its a long shot but maybe some clue there as to where they went? Or maybe this young lad, he gestures at Tark can scrounge up a trail.

Straug feels mildly chipper, an unnatural feeling for him and strange given the dire circumstances.

I guess I'm happy we survived and succeeded, though the journey aint over yet.

During a quiet moment in camp he blurts out Yer a bunch of good lads, the lot of you. If this trip home is the end of our journeys together I'd have you know it. And know that Straug will be the axe at your side if you need me.

Looking around awkwardly after his declaration he shrugs his shoulders and lays down for what he hopes will be a good nights sleep.

Straug moves slightly to the east and readies an action with a throwing axe to throw it at one of the crows if they leave their branch.

Lets see what this plonker has to say for himself, Straug thinks to himself watching Cathoris approach the fallen orc, thinking he might rouse him to consciousness and watching the others to see how they want to handle it.

Straug moves purposefully forward scanning the trees for the enemy while drawing another throwing axe, Fey's Folly.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8

Still not quite able to make out their attacker in the trees he turns his attention to the crows, the one between him and the trees, and lets the axe fly.

Ok hoping I read and understand all that properly haha here goes

Straug hears Helgash's warning and looks to the trees where he is pointing.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

He curses and narrows his eyes and he thinks he sees something there but isnt quite sure where exactly it is. Shrugging his shoulders he says to Helgash,

You say enemy, I say AXE

Straug moves forward drawing his unnamed throwing axe and throws it at where he thinks he saw some movement.

This one needs blooded!

Throwing Axe attack with range penalty: 1d20 + 5 - 6 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 6 = 14

The axe sails wide and crashes through some brush.

Straug joins Mad Marvin in the main hall.

Good a place as any I suppose. I can take first watch lads.

Still feeling a little sheepish after his speech earlier Straug sits uncomfortably chewing on some jerky. Looking up he sees Tark and Helgash getting settled in. Sighing as he remembers some of his words he wishes he was more eloquent and thoughtful.

I didnt mean you, pup. Its clear youve chosen a different path... He says quietly and tosses him a hunk of jerky, not sure if he'll even take it.

Standing up and cracking his neck and back he takes position for watch listening intently for anything that would want to harm him and his friends.

I'd suggest somewhere defensible lads, I dont think this monastery is done with us yet. In fact I think that wolf means to have a go at us when we least expect it.

Straug looks uncomfortable for a second as he thinks through how to say the next bit.

I can tell from your reactions in there and by some of your faces, he looks at Thallin purposefully, that you dont understand why I took the stance I did.

His gaze steels as he prepares to say some hard things.

THAT was an evil creature. Werewolf or worg or someone under an enchantment or spell I dont know but I know it was evil. With the next phrase he looks purposefully in everyone's face one at a time. And each of you know it too whether you wanted to admit it to yourself in the moment or not. That was evil and we not only let it live some of you attempted to treat with it, or to even get it to join us. Who here would sleep another night with that wolf in our midst?

Wolves JUST LIKE THAT are the bane of Falcon's Hollow. They plague the livestock of our farmers and families. Every year we lose good people to predators of the wood like that from the lumber camps and village outskirts. Those wolves would pull down and tear apart any child from our town exploring the woods or who was just caught alone without a seconds thought and sleep well that night with a full belly. Those are just the wild wolves I'm speaking of, how much more of a threat is an intelligent force for evil like that creature back there. Lady Syntara herself would probably like to be rid of that creature from her wood, not that we are here to further the aim of the fey but to protect our town.

We may be on a mission to get these ingredients but I see us as more than that. We are protectors of our little Hollow, and I mean to be one in every sense of the word that I can. I did nothing back there, though every bit of good in me cried out to rid the world of that evil and I'll be making penance with Angradd because of it, out of respect for our battles fought together and camraderie, but I'm telling the lot of you now I'll not stand by again and let something like that live, whether or not youll be fighting beside me.

There I've said my piece lads and I'm sorry for the harshness of my words. I know youre good men and mean well but I think we missed the mark today. Ask yourself this as we bed down tonight. The next time a wolf pack takes one of our lumbermen, or a villager, or a girl working the tavern, or a member of our family, will you be able to wonder whether or not it was that talking abomination and whether you could have stopped it? I know I wont.

With those words Straug nods his head and steps back waiting for someone to lead the way to camp.

Straug stays quiet. He is extremely uncomfortable that the group is 'negotiating' with evil. He is watching Mad Marvin intently as well. As he is relatively new to being a devout he isnt sure what approach to take here, and also recognizing the irony in that he is looking to a madman for guidance.

I guess if Torag is ok with this madness for now then Angradd might be as well...but this doesnt feel right at all.

Straug glowers from the back of the room, hand on one of this throwing axes. He growls under his breath to the group around him, trying to keep Greypelt from hearing him.

Have you bleeders lost your minds? You cant trust a talking wolf...there is evil afoot here we've all felt it. Why bargain with this beast when we can cleanse the place and take the mushrooms without being beholden to this creature. He'll turn on us first chance he gets.

Straug tries to sense what he can about the wolf and his motives.

Straug has been watching Mad Marvin from the time he entered the room. While obviously kin Straug hasnt been around many dwarves his whole life much less adventured with one. Despite that he knows that his behavior is a bit strange though he seems friendly enough.

For now... He thinks to himself.

Alright boy-o I'll wait on using this gem in the altar for when we're a bit more stabbed up. The rest of you hurry and catch up with me. Get a few knots on yer heads and scrapes on your knees, though I got a feeling this place holds more surprises that would be more than willing to oblige.

Straug secures the gem and walks back through the chapel.

Down this hall then? Well lets see what horrifying surprises wait for us there eh?

He moves to stand in front of the first door down the hall and looks to his friends to move into position before opening.

Oi lads gather round this thing when I slot this ruby. I'm anxious to receive Torag's blessing. I think we're gonna need it.

Straug looks at the altar as the group gathers around, Tark growling toward the door in the background. He mutters quietly but still audible to the group.

If this turns you lot into dwarves I dont know if I'll laugh or cry...'

He then carefully places the ruby in the slot.

That book may contain nothing but it could also have answers not only to what we are doing now but about my whole fel blasted life. If you dont mind lets get it out and have a look.'

Straug moves to the front and steps through the door and quickly to the side.

'Sorry about that lads I lost my thoughts for a bit'. He tips his head back to the dwarven corpse they came upon earlier indicating it rattled him a little.

'Dont worry I'm back to brain anything gives us trouble'. Or at least try to. He thinks to himself considering his recent track record.

Looking around the room from his spot next to the entryway he scans the room for anything suspect thats not apparent on first glance.

Reading the note aloud, Straug kicks at the corpse with a scowl on his face.

'Good riddance, betrayer...', he mutters under his breath while staring at the corpse.

'Bastards like this killed my family, tried to kill me I guess. This death was too good for him. Someone pickup that warhammer I'm not touching it. We can put the money from selling or melting it to better use.'

Straug kneels down to examine the corpse a little closer, trying to see if he can tell how long its been there.

Straug steps back from the stuck door and gives it a good shove without actually stepping in the room.

'Come to think of it lads I didnt really give that closet a good going over, anyone want to rummage around a bit and see if they see something I missed?

After failing at the door, Straug curses, 'Angradd's hammer can one of you give this a good shove?

'Oi! Lads! A bit of good luck here!' Straug calls to the group, securing the mushroom in a small pouch.

Well lets see what this other door is hiding, maybe another closet?

Straug moves to the door to the N and gives it a good shove.

After some time studying the altar but failing to understand anything more about it Straug shrugs and moves back into the hallway to the doors they passed on the way in.

'Anyone care if I bash this bastard door down?' He says in a normal voice, loud enough for those nearby but not loud enough for the others in the chapel to hear. 'No? Good!'

Looking for anything to drop from above Straug kicks at the door weapon readied.

Not sure what kind of check you want me to do for this?

Straug wanders over and has a seat on one of the decrepit benches.

Angradd must be trying to teach me something...

He stares at his axe for awhile watching it slowly cool down from the blessing of fire.

I still wield his power, I can see and feel that much, but I feel diminished in combat somehow...maybe just bad luck? I did escape relatively unscathed, though. Maybe he is looking out for me in his own way and I'll understand in time.

Shaking off his melancholy, Straug stands with purpose and takes a deep breath. Seeing Cathoris at the altar he calls out to him.

'Careful lad, moving toward that thing to inspect it is what brought these abominations down on top of us,' He kicks at one of the darkmantle corpses on the ground. 'It was an altar to Torag once, but since defaced with runes to Droskar. This is an unholy place.'
