Yeah, I have a couple of inquisitors in the stable. One is kind of a cheat because the character dates back to the 1980's Red Box as a cleric. His god was Hades in a campaign that mixed the D&D "Known World" with home brew.

It's true that the overtly religious classes bake a lot of character into the creation. In that old game, Coiger was sort of a mix between a dark religious warrior, and tax attorney/efficiency expert, with an insane hatred of undead--basically they are all escapees form the underworld. The fact that Hades is the god of stuff that comes out of the earth (like gold) made him a bit greedy too.

He was my "smart cleric" back in the day, so the added skill ranks were key to his rebirth as an inquisitor though the class's favor is nice too. I do sort of miss all the armor though.

My other inquisitor is sort of flip on my paladin of Shelyn--who I play like Sailor Moon when she's not Sailor Moon--not wise at all in fact she self-centered, venial, lazy, but sticks by her friends no matter what. Whenever she readies to smite some one she always gives a speech telling her target exactly who she is and who she is punishing them for. My inquisitor of Shelyn (preacher archetype) is the exact opposite. Alistair's a bitter jerk without much talent though he knows what he likes and why because, he's an art teacher and critic. He is loosely based on Peter MacNicol's Janosz character in Ghostbusters II (sans accent), Simon Cowell, and a terrible art teacher I had back in High School. I have yet however to play him.

I chose Shelyn for him because it just fit--dictatorial art director. That and Shelyn has a bit of backstory. She had god parents, an evil brother, and relationships with other gods--basically a backstory. Nethys has always seemed a bit meh to me. He's the god of knowledge, magic and destruction, but yet he doesn't seem to hang out with anyone, or have much personality. I don't even run into to many actual wizards who worship him. I guess I see him as hard to relate to. He's not treated so much as a god but as a force of nature. There are a few Pathfinder Gods that fall into this category; gods who don't seem to hang out on the Golarion equivalent of Mt. Olympus/Asgard politicking with their brethren (Gozreh, and Gorum to name two).

Maybe you could find a way to play that up. Like maybe a druid of the magical world--balance in all things OR ELSE! Or perhaps you could make him a bit crazier on each outing until he goes full-on 1.21 magical gigawatts Doc Brown mad, or maybe more like Dr. Ishirō Serizawa from Godzilla (old 1950's or new).

Characters can be real characters sometimes.

Sure! Droo's not doing anything this weekend.

It is certainly better than that one adventure boon where you can get a super special pseudo-dragon familiar! I played a fighter for that game... ... ....

Thanks, Pathfinder Society. :{

This one kindly gives you the tools you need to make use of it later if not immediately, plus, it actually has some merit, and the paperwork isn't overly onerous. (I'm lookin' at you, seasonal faction journal cards!)

Yay!

Droo can't make the needed roll this time around (she is untrained in the arts of Knowledge (nobbery)), so the chronicle is fine as-is.

Good game everyone!

There's no limit to copying aside from: time (one-hour's study), coin (for the magical inks needed), page count (in your book), and being able to grasp the meaning of the arcane writing (Spellcraft DC 15 + spell level). It is tough when you are low level to copy a really high level spell into your book, and even if you did you might not be able to use it for years, while it is just sitting there taking up space.

Think of it terms of trying to use a higher-level-than-you-can-safely-cast scroll. Prof. can do so (even some non-wizards can).

Right here!

If you can get away with it, you might be able to just Take 10 on your spellcraft checks.

In the morning, the Pathfinders are awoken by frantic knocking at their makeshift sleeping quarters. The curator throws up her hands in frustration and leaves the room. After a few seconds, her voice can be heard telling someone to "handle that gently - it's worth more than what you make in a year!"

The Pathfinders emerge to find guards rearranging the museum. When asked, they simply reply "Earl's orders"

"But I asked 'what's for breakfast?'"

Yes, I speak of the great General Arnisant, my direct ancestor who faced evil head-on and gave his life so that we might live our own. Yes, in Taldor, we respect tradition because it’s what made us strong and keeps us strong, and I stand before you today as a living testament that General Arnisant’s legacy of selfless and impeccable service lives on, for the glory of Ridonport,” the earl pauses as the crowd cheers wildly, “and of Taldor itself! This is our birthright, and today we celebrate our heritage proudly!”

Droo is not impressed.

"Wait. All this because he's someone famous's kid? I mean it's not like they are rare, or anything, kids. I mean, I don't have any-." she pauses and nudges (1d6 ⇒ 4) Theld in the thigh, before going on in a loud whisper "Well, at least none that I know about." She finishes with a knowing wink.

If Theld is standing somewhere else, just slide her and Vinegar a little bit in front of him if possible.

As Vosk passes her the ledger, the magistrate raises both eyebrows. "How... convenient," she replies slowly. "Very fortunate you were able to recover this before it was lost, Mr. Lazav. I'll take a look this afternoon, once I've had a chance to review our young scallywags' testimony."

Panic immediately begins rising in Professor Masaendri's gut. She sees right through it! It's too convenient. I knew it! What a fool! I should have pointed it out to them. I KNEW it was too obvious! Once dismissed, she inclines her head in a nod of respect (which has the added benefit of hiding her face from the Magistrate), and swiftly strides out the door.

Once out of earshot, she makes sure the entire team hears her thoughts on just how tenuous their position is in a low, furious whisper.[smaller] "We must be extremely careful. She suspects that we may have been involved in the break in at the chandlery, due to the issue with having a wolf in the party...."

"Don't worry, Professor. You heard my story about the lycanthropy. Ain't no one seeing through that!" Droo weaves her fingers together behind her head, and puffs out her chest in pride.

Droo waves at her helpfully. Being bright pink, and polished steel she's easy to spot.

Droo stretches and yawns hugely.

"Really!? That's really incredible!" says Droo watching with pleasure as Molvil's magic animates the broken fragments back into place.

Then moments later, from somewhere behind the Professor: **CRASH!!** *tinkle, tinkle*

bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

"Bad Vinegar! Bad wolf! Get away from those bottles. I don't know what's gotten into that wolf. Professor could you--you know...." Droo wiggles her tiny fingers in the direction of the mess.

"Hey Theld! You're sort of a cleric right? Can you pray to Squidthulu, and summon up some mending magic for the painting you guys wrecked while I was out front guarding the place? Though maybe I could have a try at restoring it. I painted my sister's house once, and it came out a lot better than I thought it would. It might be one of my many secret talents." She beams.

"Otherwise, I suppose we take it to the river with this guy, and toss it in with the trash." She walks over to the body, and kicks it.

"Not so talkative now are you tough guy? Huh? Sorry. I can't hear you, because you're dead. In fact, you're so dead we would need an extra-large (never mind a medium) to talk to your ghost." she says to the corpse, pouring expensive wine on it, while doing a little jig.

Since there's still a big grease spot on the floor I am going to assume that the Prof comes through the door behind the bar.

"But I wanna look at the pretty bottles." whines the gnome.

perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19

Droo picks up the first thing that might in dim light look like a bunch of meaningless numbers written out in a row and offers it up as the needed combination, and returns to her inspection of the bar's contents (or any other interesting item) at the first opportunity.

Droo and Vinegar move to block the interlopers' escape. "AH HA! STAND AND DELIVER! For you have both have fallen into my clever trap! Surrender now, and you shall not be treated poorly."

She has Vinegar move to cover the doorway (I am assuming there is a lot of difficult terrain here) and then readies an action to skewer the first miscreant that draws near enough to poke with her lance. Note: She might get an AoO as well.

readied action:
lance v opponent: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
THREAT!
confirm?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 additional damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4) + 4 = 11
