Male Human Survivor

I'm going to step out of this game. It's obvious my lack of using the map skills, and posting rate don't jive with what you need. Thanks for the opportunity, and good luck.

Male Human Survivor

OK

"I think we need to get out of here! We've obviously bitten off more than we can chew!".

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding moves into the melee, swinging his machete at the ant in front of him, and completing the groups battle line.

1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Machete - Gang up.
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 WD

1d6 + 1d8 ⇒ (2) + (8) = 10 Damage 14 damage if hit.
1d8 ⇒ 4 XD

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding fires at AK28

1d6 ⇒ 6 Pipe Rifle
1d6 ⇒ 2 XD
1d6 ⇒ 2 Bullet

I think that a raise

3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2) = 13 Ballistic Damage Total of 17
1d6 ⇒ 4 XD2

Male Human Survivor

I'm travelling with family, but should be able to post daily... just not at expected times.

Male Human Survivor

I edited my post after you told Spaulding the situation. Getting a little testy aren't we?

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding cringes a bit at the broken glass, and gunfire, then enters the room behind the others when he sees the coast is clear. He will also reload his rifle, and check his dart gun to make sure it's clear to draw.

"Where next"?

Sorry Couldn't tell that from the map...

Before entering the room, Spaulding takes a shot at the remaining ant.

1d6 ⇒ 6 Shooting
1d6 ⇒ 1 XD
1d6 ⇒ 6 WD

2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 Damage

Male Human Survivor

Spencer would have bought another 30 rounds of ammo at 1-cap each.

Deciding that he really needs to get off another shot before these things close, Spaulding moves forward reloading as he goes, and tries to snap off another shot.

1d6 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0 Shooting(Multi-Action penalty
1d6 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1 WD

but in his haste he doesn't load the round straightly, and the round simply goes about 20' then impacts into the ground.

Male Human Survivor

I'm back. I believe the raise should add another day to damage.

1d6 ⇒ 5 for a total of 9 damage.

Male Human Survivor

Almost back home. Should be able to post more normally next week, but lots of travel during the holidays.

Stimpack (x2) 350
Radaway 175
Rad-X 200
Bedroll Kit 75
Binoculars 50
Duct Tape (x2) 20
Total: 860 caps

I can't remember how much 10mm ammo was, and can't find it at a quick glance on the equipment list, but if available Spaulding would probably buy some more.

Male Human Survivor

"I see no reason to delay. The sooner we start the sooner we can finish".

Male Human Survivor

"Sounds good to me. We can help out some folks, and benefit ourselves at the same time".

Male Human Survivor

1d8 ⇒ 5 Vigor
1d6 ⇒ 1 WD

"Something just doesn't feel right around here. The air just... I don't know... smells funny.

He turns to address the woman offering the radiation treatments. "We don't have a lot of caps. Is there someway we could do something for you in return for some of the medicine"?

Male Human Survivor

I'll update this evening (US Eastern time). I'm travelling with a supervisor this week, so posting might be spotty. Please feel free to BOT my character if necessary to move the plot along.

Male Human Survivor

Sorry I missed yesterday's post. I'm travelling but can usually post sometime during the day.

"Hey. Petey's not some piece of meat you can just pawn off on the first sucker you find. He's a real live person. Maybe we should ask him if he wants to stay here, before we start trying to give him away. We don't even know anything about this guy. He might go feral and all and try to eat Petey".

Male Human Survivor

For his advance, Spaulding raises his Vigor to d8

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Vigor
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 WD

1d4 ⇒ 3 Notice Total of 10
1d6 ⇒ 6 WD2
1d6 ⇒ 4 XD

"I don't know. Maybe it helps keep the rows straight for the plow it's pulling. That Zombie pulling it probably doesn't have brains enough to do that himself... Wait... Is that a Zombie plowing a field"?

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding, covered in gecko gore, swings at the nearest beast.

1d6 ⇒ 6 Machete
1d6 ⇒ 3 XD
1d6 ⇒ 1 WD

I believe with gang up and dim lighting offsetting, that's still a raise.

1d6 + 1d8 ⇒ (6) + (7) = 13 Damage 18 damage
1d6 ⇒ 3 XD2
1d6 ⇒ 3 raise

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding is hit with a spray of blood from somewhere, and looks around seeing Spencer under heavy assault. He moves forward to engage one of those surrounding his friend.

1d6 ⇒ 5 Machete
1d6 ⇒ 5 WD

If that's not a hit, I'll spend a Benny, since it's getting serious here. Not sure if the ganging up bonus applies with Spencer shaken or not. If it is a hit, then I'll just keep the benny.

1d6 ⇒ 2 MacheteX
1d6 ⇒ 3 WDx

And we'll hope the first one hit.

1d8 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + (6) = 7 Damage Total of 18 damage
1d6 ⇒ 6 XD
1d6 ⇒ 5 XD2

Male Human Survivor

1d6 ⇒ 2 Spirit
1d6 ⇒ 4 WD

I'm sorry, but I'm confused at the moment. (I think the long post confused me. Did Spaulding get up last round, or did he just get wounded? Since Spaulding's toughness is 6 is he shaken (Spirit roll above), or did he take a wound which would require a Vigor roll?

In either case, Spaulding will rise this round, and try to attack if he's not still shaken.

1d6 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1 Machete (Multi action penalty may apply)
1d6 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4 WD Total of 7
1d6 ⇒ 3 XD

1d8 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + (3) = 8 Damage 8 Damage

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding wakes from his dreams of fast cars and faster women, and rolls to his feet panting. He grabs his machete on the way up, and prepares himself to attack any of these... beasts... that make it to the group.

Male Human Survivor

"Yeah I'm all for looking around on the way. Maybe we can find some more cool useful gadgets like this one". Spaulding holds up the geiger counter.

Male Human Survivor

I believe Spaulding took the Geiger counter, and a dart gun with half the darts, or all of them if nobody else wants a dart guy. We can barter / trade what remains. Should we do it here where perhaps a lot is available, or wait till we get to Platka.

Male Human Survivor

1d4 ⇒ 4 Streetwise Total of 6
1d4 ⇒ 2 XD
1d6 ⇒ 4 WD

1d4 ⇒ 1 Knowledge: Common
1d6 ⇒ 3 WD1

Spaulding sleeps like a rock, the excitement and drama of the previous hours finally exhausting him. He dreams of the crowd cheering him on, as he drove his mighty vehicle to victory in the arena.

The others look at him strangely as he awakens from a particularly realistic dream that morning, by rising from his sleep his arms raised in a "V" for victory, with a huge smile on his face. He then quickly looks around, realizes what he is doing, and tries to turn his victory pose into a yawn and stretch.

"So we journey on to Platka".

He then looks around quickly to make sure Petey is still with them and save.

Male Human Survivor

"No I guess not. I would like to watch the cars someday though".

As he and Spencer head back towards the others, Spaulding remarks. "Shame we're so poor. I could use a good night's rest".

Male Human Survivor

"Hmm. This looks interesting, but maybe Petey and somebody else better wait out here. Looks like his type is not popular, and I would hate him to be in chains again. I'll stay with him if nobody else wants to".

You can tell by his excitement that he really wants to see what's going on, but feels responsible for Petey.

Male Human Survivor

1d6 ⇒ 4 Notice
1d6 ⇒ 4 WD

"Yeah. I hear that. Think we should check it out. Sounds like they're really going fast".

Male Human Survivor

"I'm all for trying somewhere else. That Brotherhood might be well armed and nice enough, but they're kind on selfish and stand-offish. They take care of themselves but don't seem to eager to help others. Maybe we can find somewhere more friendly to Petey"

Male Human Survivor

Me too. I'll post tonight when back home.

Male Human Survivor

"Thanks Petey. You're nice too. And my is that a big sword you have there. You must be a great Ninja. Have you gone a long way from your vault"?

Male Human Survivor

Sure take the laser rifle, but remember the house rule that you need the INT based shooting skill instead of the regular shooting skill to use it

Male Human Survivor

I'm good with the group we have right now.

Spaulding would like the metal helmet to keep his good looks intact, one of the dart guns, and he doesn't mind carrying the Geiger counter.

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding comes out from where he was sniping and heads towards the big guy. "Hey there friend. My name is Spaulding, what's yours? We're not trying to take you anywhere. As a matter of fact you probably know more about where we are and what we can do than we do. Would you like some water? Spaulding pulls out one of his valuable water bottles and offers it to the beast.

1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Persuasion Total of 14
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 WD
1d6 ⇒ 4 XD

Male Human Survivor

Not to argue, as you are the GM, and the final arbitrator of rules... but I believe you might be misinterpreting the "Innocent Bystander" rule.

Innocent Bystander:

Spoiler:

Innocent Bystanders
When an attacker misses a Shooting or Throwing roll, it
may sometimes be important to see if any other targets in the
line of fire were hit. The GM should only use this rule when
it’s dramatically appropriate—not for every missed shot in a
hail of gunfire.
Each miss that comes up a 1 on the Shooting die indicates
a random adjacent character was hit. If the attacker was firing
on full-auto or with a shotgun, a roll of 1 or 2 hits the bystander.
Roll damage normally.

Technically the Wild Die is considered part of the roll, so if it offsets the miss, then the rule doesn't apply. This is only if you roll a "1" and the target is missed as a result of the entire roll.

I might be wrong here, but this is how we've always played it.

Male Human Survivor

Now reloaded Spaulding rises to his knees in the ditch, and takes aim at the laser wielding leader with his Pipe rifle.

1d6 ⇒ 6 Shooting Total of 11 Hit with a raise
1d6 ⇒ 5 XD
1d6 ⇒ 6 WD

3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3) = 10 Damage Total of 15 Damage.
1d6 ⇒ 5 XD1

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding is laying in a ditch reloading his pipe rifle this round

Male Human Survivor

1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Agility Total of 11 Success w/ Raise
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 WD
1d6 ⇒ 3 XD

Spaulding stands with his mouth agape for a moment seeing the man fall. Did I just kill someone? Then, he see's something coming their way from the armored man... probably not anything good. "Incoming! Hit the dirt!" Spaulding spots a small ditch, and dodges into it just as the flash bang goes off harmlessly above him.

Since this seems to be a good hiding spot, he breaks down his pipe rifle and reloads.

Hoping the raise will allow Spaulding to find cover to reload this round.

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding is torn. He doesn't want to seem scared like he did last time, but this is really none of his business. And can they even damage the man in the powered armor... but... decisions...

Finally muttering under his breath... "I hate bullies". , Spaulding moves to the edge of the tree line and takes a shot with his pipe rifle.

1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Shooting Total of 7
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 WD

Aiming towards the closest one with a shotgun.

2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10 Bullet Total of 15 including the Joker damage.
1d6 ⇒ 3 XD

Male Human Survivor

Wow that weird. My last post just disappeared

Spaulding will spend time walking about the allowed area's of the camp talking to teens about living here, unspoken threats, travel desires, etc... Things teens talk about, while his gear is being prepared.

1d4 ⇒ 2 Streetwise
1d6 ⇒ 5 WD

Male Human Survivor

Whoops! Made a post in the discussion thread that should have been in the gameplay thread... but I rolled so good I'm afraid to copy / past / delete it. So I'll leave it there for now.

Male Human Survivor

"Wow! You've got quite a collection of fine merchandise here... but these items we have to trade are in very good, first hand condition. Are you sure you don't have any "first time buyer" discounts for good trading in the future?

1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Persuasion Total of 16!
1d4 ⇒ 4 XD

Well, it has a metal shoulderpad, then leather kneepads and other shoulder, so mostly leather in the games, but that's nitpicking and TBH doesn't look very good, so I like yours better.

So, 167 caps? That's quite a bit of bang for the buck, I think I'll take it.

Depending on how long we want to stick around, I can spruce up the suits of anyone else who wants to stay Vault fresh as well.

I'm thinking more rounded metal on the shoulders, not those weird DBZ pads, bracers, a Breastplate with a big 2 painted on it, knee pads and "greaves", and some chain mail and sloth under the suit. Kinda like this or this bit metal, and with a Vault suit underneath, visible. Anybody got better ideas?

Spaulding would be interested in a suit of this armor as well.

Male Human Survivor

Thanks for the list. Might want to consider spoilering the categories so we don't have to scroll down through things to find what we're looking for, or maybe send this in a pdf format, or make a link to one, and put this in the campaign info, as we'll probably be consulting it often throughout the game.

Just a suggestion...

Male Human Survivor

I agree about slowing things down a bit. At least wait a day to see if we're going to respond... After all Spaulding just spent a d4 on persuasion just for these situations :-)

Spaulding stares googly eyed at the warriors in powered armor. I'd like to own a set of that someday. Wouldn't be scared of no robots in that.

1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Luck
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 WD

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding is good with that plan. Was he able to scavenge anything useful off the robot?

1d4 ⇒ 3 Science?
1d6 ⇒ 3 WD

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Human Survivor

Yeah. I wasn't sure how long he had been injured before the journey. He was wounded (Due to my snake-eyes) before the trip I assumed, not in the fight.

We're close to where I live in real life. Can we go to my house... I know where there are a couple of guns there. :-).

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding now realizes that somebody in the group needs to speak to outsiders encountered, and takes that roll on. He knows he has always been popular, and might be the best choice in the group for negotiating.

Therefore he adds a d4 in Persuasion.

Also, it might be best to try and take care of his existing wound. I forgot about the "golden hour" thing, so is Spaulding stuck with the wound for 5-days, or can he make a vigor roll now. Or is there some other way to get rid of this pre-existing wound?

1d6 ⇒ 2 Vigor
1d6 ⇒ 3 XD

And if a Benny... which are getting ready to re-set can be spent.

1d6 ⇒ 2 Vigor1
1d6 ⇒ 2 WD

Might as well spend the last one since they're re-setting.

1d6 ⇒ 5 Vigor2
1d6 ⇒ 5 WD2

Male Human Survivor

As the party gathers their meager supplies, Spaulding shyly begins to speak.

"Hey everybody. I'm sorry about the way I acted earlier today. I'm really not a chicken... and I know I didn't contribute much... but I'll do better. I guess my injury, and being thrust into this situation just got me a little off balance.

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding comes out from his hiding spot behind a concrete barrier of some sort, his mouth hanging open in amazement. "What happened? Did you actually kill it? Then he sees the gruesomeness of the injury to his comrade, and almost pukes.

Helping search and gather items, Spaulding is a bit ashamed that he had so little faith in his party's abilities, but still keeps looking at the robot in fear.

"Do you think that thing has any parts, or maybe a power supply we could salvage"?

1d4 ⇒ 4 Knowledge: Geography Total of 6
1d4 ⇒ 2 XD
1d6 ⇒ 5 WD

He tries to remember anything he can about either the town or city.

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding looks quizzically at Fitz, as he quickly retreats looking for somewhere safe to hide.

"Spencer's got the gun. All I've got is a knife, and an uneven hunk of concrete. I don't like my odds. Live to fight another day and all".

Male Human Survivor

Spaulding is once again overcome with fear. "We can't beat that thing. It has guns. Run away! Run away!. He then finds somewhere to take cover hoping that the others will do the sensible thing and flee.

I didn't take persuasion because I pictured Spaulding as the kid who everything came easy for. Good looks, popularity, athletic, so he never had to learn social skills. I have a feeling life in the world outside the vault however may force him to develop some... if we live through this encounter.
