I've skimmed over a bit of the rules and while I like some things, it's far outweighed by things I'm not a fan of. Action Economy and some of the new monster design stuff is cool, but everything else just irks me a bit.

I would actually argue that there is a clear progression from Starfinder to P2.
The idea of
-scaling damage as you level
-having well defined lanes for each class
-AC more clearly scaling with level
-item levels
-reduced action economy
-every class has their version of "rogue talents"
If you like SF, I would suggest at least giving P2 a try, as it is clear that Paizo used what they learned from building SF from scratch and applied those lessons to P2. Really the only thing keeping SF from going full P2 is that they wanted it to be backward compatible.
Another big change from P1 to P2 is Monster design. What I mean by that is instead of Monsters just being walking HP sinks in different skins (one example given by Mark Seifter is the Dire Tiger and Owlbear stat blocks being almost indistinguishable if you remove the name at the top) each monster is given some unique and interesting ability to make it stand out, making combats more dynamic.
That monster design does sound interesting, but I’m still a bit iffy on PF2. I know I should play it before judging, but it’s really not sounding like something I’d like personally. I put story over mechanics of course, but I still wanna be able to enjoy the mechanics.

Been a while since I’ve been on these boards, and a whole new edition of Pathfinder is upon us. I was wondering what some of the changes are between first and second edition. I remember a friend of mine showing me stuff from the playtest, and tbh, I really didn’t like what I saw. But now that the full version is out (or at least, I think it is), what are the major (and any minor) changes between editions?

So I finally got the chance to run IG with a group of friends and I'm really excited :)! So I thought I'd try to keep a campaign journal of their adventures. We had our first session last Thursday.
The Characters:
Heiser Jordan, Female Rakshasa-born Tiefling Kineticist (Overwhelming Soul)
Cas Chisholm, Female Angel-born Aasimar Dread Necromancer (converted 3.5 class)
Ani Lilith, Female Sylph Witch (Hedge Witch)
Samantha, Female Changeling Investigator (Mastermind)
Daruk Gozaggo, Male Oread Fighter (Two-Hand Fighter)
So the party went to Dolga Freddert and accepted the mission to save Khonnir Baine, and immediately went to Joram Kyte to receive water breathing. They then headed to the caves, with Daruk being the only one to fail swimming to them, and Ani and Sam got sickened from the filthy water. The party hardly had any trouble getting through the caves, the kineticist and fighter often charging in. They killed the skulk tribe, Sam got hit by a spike trap, and the gremlins proved annoying. They completely missed the slime molds.
They then reached the habitat module where they destroyed the repair robot, then beat the ghelarn. They began to explore the desert and were attacked by all but one of the kasatha skeletons, Cas having gained control of two of them, whose names are now Hans and Ada (He had also animated the skeleton of the dead half-orc in A2). One of the skeletons nearly killed Ani, but thankfully she stabilized and was given a potion of cure moderate wounds.
They are now second level and are still in the desrt.
I shall post another update after next Thursday's session.
There's some RPGs that I would like to play, but my normal group never wants to play them and it's hard to find a group for them online.
Also, I wish I was better at planning campaigns. I always feel like my stories are crap and that my encounters are terrible. Meanwhile, my friends are way more prepared and have more interesting campaigns.
Have an idea for either a half-elf occultist or spiritualist for Strange Aeons, if anyone needs another player for that.
Also had the idea for a crossblooded aasimar bloodrager for Hell's Rebels.
I recently got the latest version of the Doctor Who RPG and it looks fun, but no one plays RPGs locally and I can never find a game online. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in running a game online. I would prefer Roll20 but I could also do PbP. Just let me know if you're interested. Thanks. :)
P.S.: I only got to the Series 6 episode Night Terrors before the show was taken off Netflix, so please no spoilers. Sorry, just a bit paranoid when it comes to spoilers.
As some of you may know, I recently expressed interest in using Pathfinder to play in the Mobile Suit Gundam universe. But now I realize that Star Wars Saga Edition might be a better system to do that in.
The problem is, I'm terrible at statting things up from scratch in RPGs, so I might have trouble statting up the Mobile Suits. I haven't found any homebrew stats online, so any advice or ideas on how I could adapt Saga Edition to play within the Gundam universe?
I recently started getting into the Gundam franchise, and it's made me wonder how to do mecha in Pathfinder.
I know about the construct armor rules, but I'm looking more for something where the players can make their own mechs. I thought about possibly making a mech race with the race builder to simulate mech customization, but I'm not sure if that would work.
Any advice on how I could do Mobile Suit-Style mechs in Pathfinder?
Extending the cutoff date to Monday evening.
Interesting....The players setting the events in KotOR into motion could be a good plot.
Final bump. Sorry if it's annoying, I just really need some advice.
Gonna bump this since once again I decided to post this when most sane people were asleep. XD

So I'm thinking of running a Saga Edition game set a year before the events of Knights of the Old Republic. I want to start it in a similar way, with Revan and Malak attacking a group of Republic starships, with the help of two other Sith (the BBEGs for the campaign) who happened to have their fleet in the same system. I want the opening to end with the PCs getting in escape pods and flying towards the planet below.
However, there's still a lot I need help coming up with. For example, what the two BBEGs' ultimate goal is. I was thinking maybe they find a piece of Rakatan technology that could upgrade the Star Forge and make it even stronger, with them potentially plotting to keep this tech a secret from Revan and Malak in a plan to usurp those two, but I'm not sure if that would work. I also dunno what planet to have the opening battle over. I want it to have strategic value to both sides in the war, but also have it be somewhere that the PCs would not want to be (i;e,a Sith-controlled world, a wild world, or a world dominated by crime lords.)
Any advice is appreciated. :)
Sorry I'm still here, and Browman I did bear witness to one of your Dawn of Worlds games falling out.

So what aspect should be focused on first, do you think?
Bumping this because I wanna try to do this again.

Well I made my final decision :). I got:
NWN Diamond
NWN 2 Complete
P:T
ToEE
One last question: What does the Co8 mod change about ToEE?

So GOG has a Neverwinter Nights bundle with both games and their expansions, so I'm gonna get that but now I can't decide between Torment,ToEE, BG, and BG 2 to also get.

I have some money to spend and I was considering buying some D&D games from GOG. Neverwinter Nights 2 and Planescape Torment are ones I'm strongly considering. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Male Human
Soooo.....This still a thing?
Iron Gods, even without running it. :3
I honestly don't see much wrong with the situation. The ape would obviously be upset because its best friend just got his head lopped off, so it would probably want to mourn its companion.
Male Human
Sorry, had a lot go on irl recently. Anyone still interested in this?
*casts thread revive*
I've always wanted to learn this game. I have all the advanced set rulebooks, but I wanna keep it simple. Would anyone be interested in running a game of this on the forums or on Roll20 to teach me and others how to play?
Male Human
I might create a Google Doc later tonight.
Ok, I can see that, but again, I'd probably have to drive for hours to go somewhere where a PFS event is happening.

Torbyne wrote: Are there any hobby shops that sell table tops in your area? pretty much everyone i have seen has a board to post looking for group messages. check out the PFS scene in your area or chat with the employees at your FLGS about when pathfinder players come through.
Aside from Gamer Connection on this forum there are sites like Nearby Gamers where you can post your location as a nearby library or other public space if you want to try meeting people in neutral locations. Coffee shops tend to be great places to screen people to see how you get along or want to form a group.
Unfortunately, I live in an area where you'd probably have to drive hours to find a game store. I get most of my PF stuff from Books-A-Million as that's the only place I know that carries PF books around here. As for PFS, I'm not too fond of how PFS works. I like my gaming to be relaxed and fairly unrestricted, where as having to complete a session in a certain amount of time and having some restrictions on characters doesn't appeal to me.

Oddman80 wrote: so- i know you are looking for a "sit around a table together" game... but if you are having trouble getting one set up, and you want something closer to it than your PbP games, you can also try Web-Hosted games.
I have been playing in various D&D 3.5, 4e & Pathfinder games for the past couple years exclusively on Roll20.net The Flexibility of finding a game that worked with my time needs was terrific as I am a working father that can only reliably budget regular "game time" after i have put my kids to bed. being able to pull other gamers from around the country (and the rest of the world as well), made getting a group quite simple.
While it doesn't have the full benefit of everyone being in the same location - the games move at the same pace as if you were. You can use that site or even Skype to handle voice, and depending on which game you join, you may have maps and tokens to move around on via the interactive game screen.
I will admit - with it basically being a conference call, it is harder to have side conversations or fool around - as it can be disruptive to game play. But that isn't to say that your typical roundtable tangential conversations and tomfoolery don;t occur en mass either.
I have done Roll20 games before. But as a GM, it's hard for me to come up with maps and I'm worried I won't be taken seriously due to my age. and as a player, I can never find a game to join that works with my time schedule. So while I do enjoy Roll20, it's hard for me to get a game going or get into a game.
Still in high school, I was thinking it'll probably get better once college rolls around.
I mostly posted this thread because I could not think of any other possible ways I could find or organize a group.
Mononykus (who wouldn't want a lil ornithimimid with only one claw on each hand as an animal companion? He'd poke people to death!)
Gastornis (because giant birds are awesome)
I know it's already been said, but Therizinosaurus is seriously the best dinosaur ever, and needs stats ASAP XD.
Giganotosaurus (He's like a Tyrannosaurus but bigger and more awesome.)
Anomalocaris (big armored sea predator with compound eyes and little tentacles that it grabs trilobites with)
I'll have to think of some others when I get home and look through my books.
I have brought PF books to school before, and I've thought about bringing them to read during lunch just to see if there's interest. I did try to organize a Emerald Spire game with some friends on the last day of school last year, but....apparently they forgot, because they all went home early instead of staying to play XD.
We did have an afterschool gaming club I occasionally went to, and I'd have my rulebooks sitting beside me while we played Munchkin, but all I got out of that was "Isn't that like D&D?" "Yea." "Ok" lol
Well, I didn't do very well last year in school so now I'm in an alternative program, but even then, there were boards at my school, but they weren't public, they were for specific things.
Recently, I've been getting into doing PbP since it's easy and convenient. However, I've always wanted to run a group the old-fashioned way: Around a table, dice in the middle, GM behind a screen. However, I can never get one going, and my friends are usually too busy to commit to a weekly game, and I'm not sure if they are still interested in Pathfinder. So how should I go about getting a group together? I know about the Gamer Connection forum, but due to my younger age, I'm hesitant to post there as it may bring unwanted attention, if you know what I mean (No offense to the Paizo community though, it's a good community, one of my favorites in fact :))
More kaiju hopefully *crosses fingers* XD it would be awesome though if Lord Varklops and other kaiju were included in this.
Male Human
I'm not familiar with using Google Docs, so if we do that, I'll need assistance with it lol.
The discussion thread is open now so if interested, go there for discussing.
Male Human
If interested, dot here :) Not too many people though, we need a small concise group lol.
I recently bought the ACG and OA, so I was thinking a brawler possibly who also has psychic abilities, if those classes are allowed.
I may be interested in this. Probably going to make an aasimar, although not sure which class yet.
Yes, it would use Pathfinder.
Awesome :) I was thinking we could have multiple people work on so that a(we have a lot of diverse ideas and b(so when it's play-ready,we have a pool of potential GMs and players.
So recently I started to think about world building again, as I love creating worlds, so thought I'd see if anyone would be interested in working together with me to create a setting and then we could run campaigns in it.
Now, I have considered 2 methods of doing world building. One is to use a system called Dawn of Worlds, where you play as gods creating the world, and you get a certain amount of power points per turn to spend on alterations of the world. The other method is to just have discussion and talk about what we want for the campaign setting. We would discuss the different aspects of the world and add to it gradually.
So lemme know if you are interested and what method you would prefer. :)
I had an idea for a campaign where the players would create their own kaiju and fight other kaiju. Problem is, not sure what CR limit to set kaiju creation at and don't know if it would last long.
The Kaiju Codex does seem interesting....it might be my first 3rd-party purchase.
I've recently started to get into the kaiju genre and I was thinking about doing a campaign based around a large coastal city that is constantly attacked by kaiju, with the PCs being caught up in it all.I was also planning on making it a bit like the Godzilla movies and have Mogaru make an attack on the city at first but then have him defend the planet from other giant monsters.
However, I'm not sure what to have the PCs do. I did have the idea of doing it Pacific Rim style and have them pilot giant constructs but I'm not sure how to do rules for mecha or drive-able constructs in Pathfinder.
Any advice is appreciated.

Just dot and Delete as per usual!
So, I saw a lot of people that were interested in playing a gestalt WoTR game, so here is me, throwing in my hat for ANOTHER Gestalt WoTR game. Mythic will be included, but that's because I love shenanigan, plus, y'all are supposed to be heroes!
1. Races: Any Race that is 20 RP or less.
2. Attributes: 20 point buy
3. Gold: 300 gp
4. Background skills in place
5. Alignment: Good preferred
6. HPs: Max at 1st level
7. Classes: All Paizo sources allowed as long as you can reasonably tie them to campaign.
8. Traits: 1 trait and 1 Campaign
9. Post your timezone if you want. I am PST, but tend to post more in the evenings.
10. Gestalt rules.
11. Looking for three characters, as I have a friend that requested I run the game.

This is why I snuck off so photos wouldn't happen. The feeling is quite mutual though.

Just hit level 3 and started the two level Lore Warden dip for my build. When I hit level 4, because of the Lore Warden getting Combat Expertise for free, I'll be getting Butterfly's Sting for my extra fighter's feat. Currently, I am heading down the path to get Improved Critical to be an assist/support type character for the front liners. I'm also planning on taking the racial feat to fly later on for funsies.
I do realize that I'll have to be level 9 before improved crit can be taken, but still..... I'm thinking this'll be fun!

Battle Dance
A dervish dancer is trained in the use of the Perform skill, especially dance, to create magical effects on himself. This works like bardic performance, except the dervish dancer only affects himself, and does not need to be able to see or hear his own performance. Battle dancing is treated as bardic performance for the purposes of feats, abilities, effects, and the like that affect bardic performance, except that battle dancing does not benefit from the Lingering Performance feat or any other ability that allows a bardic performance to grant bonuses after it has ended. Battle dancing benefits apply only when the bard is wearing light or no armor. Like bardic performance, it cannot be maintained at the same time as other performance abilities. Starting a battle dance is a move action, but it can be maintained each round as a free action. Changing a battle dance from one effect to another requires the dervish dancer to stop the previous performance and start the new one as a move action. Like a bard, a dervish dancer’s performance ends immediately if he is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action each round. A dervish dancer cannot perform more than one battle dance at a time. At 10th level, a dervish dancer can start a battle dance as a swift action instead of a move action. Dervish dancers gain the inspire courage, inspire greatness, and inspire heroics bardic performance types as battle dances, but these only provide benefit to the dervish dancer himself.
Inspire Courage
A 1st level bard can use his performance to inspire courage in his allies (including himself), bolstering them against fear and improving their combat abilities. To be affected, an ally must be able to perceive the bard’s performance. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. At 5th level, and every six bard levels thereafter, this bonus increases by +1, to a maximum of +4 at 17th level. Inspire courage is a mind-affecting ability. inspire courage can use audible or visual components. The bard must choose which component to use when starting his performance.
Thunderous Resilience
Sylphs with this racial trait gain sonic resistance 5. This racial trait replaces energy resistance.
Versatile Dance
At 2nd level, a dervish dancer gains a bonus equal to half his level on Perform (dance) checks. He can use his bonus for his Perform (dance) skill in place of his bonus for Acrobatics. This ability replaces versatile performance.
Well Versed
At 2nd level, the bard becomes resistant to the bardic performance of others, and to sonic effects in general. The bard gains a +4 bonus on saving throws made against bardic performance, sonic, and language-dependent effects.
Whispering Wind
Some sylphs are especially thin and wispy, as though they were made more of air than flesh. Sylphs with this racial trait gain a +4 racial bonus on Stealth checks. This racial trait replaces the sylph's spell-like ability racial trait.
A wispy, thin man, with short white hair, pale skin, and the looks of blue tattoos going up his neck and down his left arm, walks into the hall. His sleeveless shirt and cloak were vibrant blues, purples, and greens, as his pants were of violets, crimsons, and oranges; the man looked almost like a parading peacock. As he walked towards a table, there seemed to be a slight breeze about him, muffling his foot steps to almost silence.
"Umm, anybody here? I'm looking for a room to stay whilst I get some things sorted out..."
Auriea then sets his backpack on the floor by one of the large tables nearby and starts to stretch.
