Oh geez, thanks so much for noticing that! Wow, I creamed him! heh reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 Marnarius takes the full impact of the blast, but he gleefully watches the cursed Pathfinder fall to the fire beams. He uses his remaining potions to try to recover somewhat from Zey's lightning. CMW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 6) + 2 = 11
Is there anything else I need to do? My diversion is waiting too but as I recall I don't have to do anything to trigger it. But I have got my weapon and opened the tapestry and killed Zey and set up the diversion with the sphinx. I don't think there is anything else?
Ok, cool. Marnarius swipes at the area where he saw Rataji attacking, hoping to hit the invisible Pathfinder. attack sickle+enlarged+studied: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 15 + 2 = 30

If you need a roll from me like Perception or whatever go ahead and roll if you like. Just please remember my studied enemy bonus.
Sorry I couldn't really see the map before. I didn't notice but Marnarius should be enlarged. Does that mean he could hit Zey from the ground? If not, is he too big to go up the stairs? So Rataji told me that the real Zey was behind me coming in the room then attacked that way. If it's possible for me to hit from the ground floor, I would have moved that way instead of the stairs then been watching for him to reveal himself. Is it too big of a retcon for me to move there last turn and then be able to AoO when he reveals himself and casts a spell? Assuming I can hit from the ground floor. Marnarius, upon seeing the real Zey, takes just a moment to let his hatred come to a full boil. Study Zey. Seething Hatred increases the damage bonus from Studied to +4. knowledge{local}+studied: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 2 = 23 Ask about weaknesses if applicable. I will wait to take my other actions until I know what if any retconning is possible. Sorry for the confusion- I was on vacation and my phone doesn't work well with the Google Docs images.
Marnarius salutes his second-in-command and says, "Welcome home Wolona. I have come back for you as promised." She is all business; evidently this conflict within the demiplane is quite serious. Turning to the wyvaran, he replies, "I am the Aspis King of the demiplane. I infiltrated the Tapestry. I fought the hated Pathfinders. I escaped the Tapestry. I have infiltrated the Pathfinders' base here and shall now lead my mighty army forth to defeat them forever. You can aid us if you choose but please do not hinder our important mission." bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Marnarius drinks a potion to heal himself. potion of cure moderate wounds: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5 And then another. potion of cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 I really have no idea which to choose, so I will let the rng decide. 1 = scythe, 2 = heavy flail, 3 = longsword weapon: 1d3 ⇒ 1 Marnarius picks up the obsidian-bladed scythe and runs his finger along the smooth black blade. "This must be what I am looking for here. Can anyone identify its properties for me?" perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30 "Yes, I hear them too. Maybe we can use this information to our advantage."
Marnarius grunts as the reptile bites him. He takes a quick look over the last remaining lizard and swipes at it. I think blue may have been studied already? If not I will study it now. longsword1 + studied: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 13 + 2 = 19
longsword2 + studied: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 2 = 15

haste attack: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 23
Marnarius is encouraged by seeing his arrows pierce the shell of the lizard's tough skin and lets fly another pair. longbow+point blank+studied: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 1 + 2 = 29
longbow 2: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 + 2 = 17
He then steps back 5' to continue the party's retreat.
Marnarius backs up further, draws his bow, observes the purple lizard, and lets arrows fly. 5' step back, draw bow with quick draw, swift action to study purple, then full attack on purple using point blank and precise shot. I think cover applies but I'm still unclear on ranged stuff a little bit. longbow+point blank+studied: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 1 + 2 = 33

Wow, two 20s! I'm guessing neither confirmed but just in case: extra crit damage 1: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (5, 8) + 16 = 29
If the first arrow happens to kill the purple, he will shoot the red with his second to retain his studied bonuses.
"Good idea. We're kind of trapped in this hallway right now." Marnarius attacks the red lizard then steps back to allow Shoriraj through. full attack then 5' step back longsword + studied: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 2 = 21
longsword 2: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 2 = 16
Marnarius was watching for living things which might attack, not statues. He considers his opponent and attempts to break free from the lizard's clutches. Swift action to study it. I don't think the +2 counts towards the CMB check but I'm not sure. If so please add it in. break grapple: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31 Once he is free, he takes a step back and draws his longsword. Assuming that was enough, 5' step then move action to draw weapon.
Marnarius is pleased with the distraction he has set up. He is excited to get to the Vaults and find what he needs to help free his people. His thirst for vengeance will soon be quenched! He feels much more adept at sneaking past the guards than trying to fool them. stealth+advice: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 2 = 17
GM: Ok sounds good. I will do the sphinx first.
stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Assuming that's good enough, Marnarius will try one more cage, trying to get an indication from the sphinx of which other cage would be useful. stealth 2: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
And that's going so well, he can't resist trying one more cage. stealth 3: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
With that, he feels he will be pushing his luck to stick around much longer. He heads back to the group.
GM: I kept glossing over that paragraph and just reading the instruction to get the weapon. Thanks for being patient with me. :D
Marnarius touches his hat instinctively. "I can always use wisdom about the future. I'm no fool." He listens carefully to the sphinx's grandiose language. I'm going to utilize my Studied Target ability to get +2 on rolls against the sphinx. I think I can only get 10 on Knowledge (Arcana) since it's untrained. Knowledge(Arcana)+Studied Target: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 So I think he is saying that I shouldn't release the animals right now but that he will give them the signal when it is time. But I will roll Sense Motive just in case. Sense Motive+Studied Target: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 2 = 23
I am planning to play Ire starting Oct 12, and there apparently is something for that scenario if you play Marnarius. So I was hoping to be able to put them both on the same character. If it's possible to finish in time for that, or even within a day or two maybe, I would vote for that. I'll try to not slow us down anymore too if that helps. :)
GM Lari: Ohhhh I just figured out what I'm supposed to be doing here. Creating a distraction by setting the zoo animals loose. Sheesh it only took me about 6 times through that letter before catching it. So that must be the Menagerie, right?
Marnarius travels to the Menagerie, looking for a way to set the animals free. perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
would it be too late to take 10 on that if its needed?
Marnarius is getting antsy waiting for the main event to begin. "Has anyone checked out the Southgrove? I think I may recall something about it." Southgrove: If I'm understanding our rolls right I think this should be my highest at 24. Not sure what I useful info I might learn, so just looking for general rumors I guess.
Marnarius walks through the wild forested area within the compound. "This place is most unusual." perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
GM: I didn't think about this portion being a time to complete the mission from the letter. But looking at the letter again, I don't see a Vaults listed as a location. Does that mean I should wait until we enter Skyreach and the opportunity will present itself? Or is there somewhere I need to go for it right now?
I would like to buy the list I have in the discussion thread. I will update my character info later tonight. Training Arena: Marnarius wanders into the stands at the Arena, watching the sparring with some interest. He has been trapped in the tapestry for so long he wants to see if any new techniques have been developed. Meanwhile he tries to find a martial looking spectator to chat up about Pathfinder fighting methodology.
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Ok so I need some advice on purchases. My guy is a slayer with talents and fears focused around archery and poison mostly. He has no wand of clw or infernal healing and is not trained in use magic device. He does have 2 potions of cure moderate wounds and some poisons is all. He has 600 gold to spend. I'm thinking about buying the following:
Any feedback on that list? Anything useless by level 7? Something important I am missing? Maybe scrolls? Weapon blanches?
Knowledge(Local) #1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Seriously if anyone has any suggestions on how to spend my funds I would appreciate it. I haven't played nearly enough to know what might be useful that I don't already have. If you need to know what my gear is I will tell you. If that's ok with the GM.
Marnarius seethes as they wait in the safe house. He sees Joliryn preparing to leave. "I need out too. This waiting is unbearable. Maybe I can find something useful for killing Pathfinders out there." I have 600 gp to spend but I really have no idea what might be good. Any recommendations? He looks pretty well equipped. Maybe some consumables? |
