We will be addressing Agents of Edgewatch directly in an upcoming blog. There are many sensitivities related to it that we want to do what we can to address. This statement wasn't the appropriate place to go into further detail, but further detail will be forthcoming.

Very curious to see this, as the existence of that AP feels directly opposed to this statement. Pathfinder is, often, a game where you kill people, and spending the next six months releasing content for sale where you play as heroic cops doing exactly that reads as... well, either careless or two-faced.

I for one look forward to Agents of Edgewatch. For some reason, it reminds me of Terry Pratchett's Night Guard. For most of the AP's, PC's are always being drawn into helping communities as the government is always overwhelmed. In movies, superheroes are needed because the government is either too corrupt or ineffectual to help. This time, you as a copper can help solve crimes. Yeah, you could go full hellknight or Judge Dredd but it's also an opportunity to go full community policing and CSI Absalom. Instead of raising a rebel army, you could create goodwill so much so that people want to tell you information instead of beating it out of them or coercing them. Plus, on a more cynical note, Paizo has sunk a lot of time and effort into it already. I would rather they not rush into an AP that is badly edited and slapdash.

I have a question for those of more experience. With the new optional half-elf racial feat blended view, how do you figure out lineage as it applies to favored class bonuses. You have 1 parent as a drow, the other as a half-elf. Does that mean that the offspring only has access to the original half-elf racial class bonus as well as the drow racial class bonus or do they also keep access to the elf and human racial bonuses as well? Hero Lab allows it, but it does not necessarily make logical sense. After all, you are only 1/4 elf or human by that point.

Can a creature with a fly skill (and fly speed) using acrobatics bypass someone's CMD when trying to get out of someone's reach. Is it a requirement that they have to be on land to be acrobatic? Or can they fly "acrobatically" to avoid AoOs?

Looking for a player or two for Kingmaker campaign. About to begin 4th part of AP. Group meets every 2nd Wednesday for the most part. Group of folks in 30's and 40's. If you are looking for a game, and live in the Montreal area, send me a line.

Okay so it sounds like its a disarm maneuver with an auto hit (obviously) when he impales himself. Steal maneuver to get the sword back. Can continue hitting with free claw and bite. Auto crit due to intentional injurie. It adds to flavour but the PC tank would kill him outright if he attempted to do that. They still might anyways since they are not the brightest critters. Thanks for the input.

Hey all,

In a recent game, I had one of the trolls combating the PC group impale himself on the lead tank's weapon in the hope of no longer having that said character constantly carve up the poor trolls. My question is the following:

What kind of combat maneuver is this? I am leaning towards grapple
How does the character retrieve his weapon? I am thinking opposed strength check

I am imagining the troll pulling said weapon in, holding it and pounding on the PC for the remaining attacks for the following rounds (1 standard action to start the grapple)

Any thoughts?

Has anyone ever considered the Dr. Frankenstein aspect of the alchemist, where the goal is to build golems with a secondary focus on bombing? Any thoughts?

Preexisting campaign has just reached the second part of the Kingmaker Adventure Path. Looking for a 6th player to fill the group. Mixed group of folks in their 30's to 40's. Contact me by forum to discuss. Schedule is currently every second week.

I have a 14 St, 12 Dex, 12 Con, 13 Int, 9 Wis and 20 Charisma. I don't think the extra AoO would be worth taking Combat Reflexes. I am currently leaning towards getting Improved Crit (glaive) + multiple memorizations of Bless weapon (thanks Lopke) since that fits more into this guy's more graceful style of fighting. Basically, he would not rather break a sweat or show effort as it detracts from being beautiful.

Hi folks,

Looking for some advice on how to make my paladin a bit more versatile and effective in combat. So far, his deity is Shelyn so he is a bit of a give peace, love, and beauty a chance kind of guy. That said, once those have been given a chance, he will go to town on you. So far feats have been combat expertise, weapon focus glaive, improved disarm, greater disarm, and improved trip. So he is excellent for taking people alive but not so good at all sorts of other things. Would power attack or Improved Crit glaive be the next best feat? Or would you suggest something else entirely. Thanks.

New to Pathfinder, but not to gaming, I would be interested in meeting others in the Montreal area and hopefully joining a game!

coburn.ross@gmail.com if interested.

Hey Miskatonic,

I am also looking for local Pathfinder to join. If you hear anything, send me an email at:

Cheers.

I am currently playing a ranger beastmaster but am having a case of buyer's remorse (really missing that level 6 feat). Instead of changing class, is it possible to change to another ranger archetype or maybe just the basic ranger class?

The last campaign I was in, I was the designated tank. I regularly ran to the cleric for healing during combat and expressed many of the same frustrations you are and this was his solution: For about 1 game, he refused to heal me at all. This forced me to start thinking smart and not charging in every time there was a little evil guy to stomp. A cleric's best role is in damage prevention by the following spells:

1) protection from ..... +2 AC
2) aid - temp hit points and + to hit
3) resist energy
4) the ultimate summon monster (not only provides flanking bonus for partner but absorbs damage that is not going into PC and you get to play him
5) prayer
6) magic vestment

you get great debuffs too (too numerous to mention)

Many people in this thread mentioned Shield Other and that almost killed our cleric a few times, especially if he was fighting some creatures himself. You are so much more than a band aid.

With non-fighter classes, would having improved and greater <insert combat maneuver of choice> be a useful addition to the bag of tricks. Given that BAB is lower than fighting classes, wouldn't being able to trip and loading on the hurt on a prone opponent make sense? Same with things like feints or dirty tricks. All these combat maneuvers seem tailor made to level the playing field somewhat. This seems even more true given that most builds discussed are about damage maximization and not necessarily increased chance to hit. Any thoughts?

Quick question. What is MAD? I am still relatively new to playing an RPG and don't know all the acronyms. In terms of gimping, my half-orc loses his ability to intimidate, has crap will and fort saves and because of a home rule in our campaign, his lowish con works against him, especially with being a combat type. Sort of a ranger/rogue with a glass jaw. I looked into the arcane trickster and its very interesting and worth considering once I get the levels and skill sets. And in regards to the magically high stats, I did reroll once where the average stat for the character was around 6. Our GM uses the 4d6 home rule. Thanks everyone.

Hi Everyone,

I currently have a ranger beastmaster with stats(16Str, 17Dex, 12Con, 18Int, 13Wis and 14 Cha and yes, I rolled well). I was thinking of switching over to a rogue and being a skill monkey that is able to do TWF. A few questions:

1) Is it worth getting the StepUp, FollowingStep feat tree or should I focus on immobilizing the badguy with the Improved Feat Tree.

My character is about the least intimidating half-orc ever with the chain fighter and rock climber alternate racial traits.

2) Should I wait till level I reach level 4, that way I can get Diehard without having to pay with Endurance or switch one level earlier and forget about getting Diehard, that way I can eventually get one more rogue trick?

In terms of group composition, we have a barbarian, a druid, an illusionist and a bard, so definitely not a typical party.

Thanks.
