Yeah let me chime in here for a moment.

Player death in 1E was a common occurrence due to the reasons GM Tribute mentioned. Fortunately it only took about 15 minutes to whip up a replacement character. I also remember many parties with henchmen and hirelings to help with these tough encounters.

Skirros, nothing wrong with un-optimized builds. Back in the day before point buys, such builds were quite common.

I think this goes to show the changes between the old school dungeoneering and the 3.5/PF gamin philosophy. Not drawing any judgments here, just pointing out the fact.

I think I still have this module stashed away somewhere, but when it first came out I was so impressed with it. It was a cool premise with an awesome location. I miss those days.

Sandrion no sooner takes stock of the situation before being pelted by the ice cold hailstones. A sense of despair fills his heart. It is not looking good for us now, is there anywhere to hide around here?

He draws his rapier and prepares for the worst.

Yeah I am not surprised by this turn of events at all. If we had any sort of sense we should have retreated out of the caves and tried again later.

Sandrion, gagging and coughing, shimmies up the rope onto the other side of the cliff. Once there he takes stock of the situation.

Have hostilities resumed? It seems that way. I would not have disarmed myself here as well, it would have shown weakness to the magic-wielder here.

Sandrion smells the cloud that engulfs him just before he climbs up the edge. He pauses for a moment as he gags on the smell.

Sandrion could not hardly believe the good fortune after hearing the strange voice wishing to parlay.

He has us on the ropes...literally and now he wishes to talk...Thank Erastil!

Sandrion lets out a yell as the bridge collapses, but manages to grab the rope hanging down from the cliff edge. Breathing rapidly, he takes stock of the situation seeing if any other party members need assistance climbing up to the top. If no one needs help, he will climb up after Talon.

Sandrion holsters his bow and prepares to move across the last part of the bridge once an opening has presented itself.

Sandrion abandons hope of seeing any targets to fire at and moves as quickly as possible across the bridge.

Sandrion would not cross the bridge until everyone else has done so, so if Skirros stays on this side then Sandrion would stay with her. He is also concerned about being trapped on the bridge should it collapse.

Once Vardlon has moved across the bridge, Sandrion follows behind as quickly as he can watching for those who are tossing the boulders.

Sandrion brings up the rear of the party, waiting for the others to clear the bridge before stepping onto it. He keeps his bow trained upwards looking for the source of the boulders.

Just use the previous rolls, if needed, GM Tribute.

Sandrion faces the other way seeing the group under attack from the other side. "Ware the boulders! Get Talon off that bridge NOW!!"

He sights up across the chasm, trying to determine where the boulders are coming from. If he can see the thrower, he will get an arrow for his trouble.

Maybe we should have just walked through the front gate...

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Longbow attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Sandrion nods, "A good plan with the rope. Such bridges can be easily rigged to be collapsed by someone on the far side, either by a keystone or other mechanism. I can send haster to fly ahead, see if he spots anyone hiding there."

Good point there. Haster will stay put for now.

"Perhaps we can follow the elemental's path as it clears the mist away. Else I think we are stuck here unless we do that."

Sandrion grimaces, "I do not think they will welcome us with open arms here. A fight is inevitable. Perhaps we can summon a creature to assist here, perhaps even an elemental to distract the beasts, or even lure them away!"

"I do not think waiting here any longer than necessary is wise, Vardlon. Although if the mist proves to be too great an obstacle, then waiting may be our only option." Sandrion replies while waiting for Haster and Talon to return.

"A sensible precaution, Milhar. I think Haster would definitely draw some unfriendly attention." Sandrion nods in agreement.

Haster's AC is now 18.

I have no problem with Talon and Haster entering the forge room at the same time. Hopefully Haster will draw some attention away from Talon here.

Looks like it is my turn to sacrifice an AC, he he.

Sandrion readies his bow, even though he can see nothing past the dense fog. "OK we need to see how far it extends out. Let me send Haster out to check it." He says to the others.

He gently strokes the feathered hawk's head and whispers to him, "Seek...seek for when you can see past the fog."

Handle Animal: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 4 = 12 Since Haster cannot see where he is going, I suspect he needs to be pushed here.

Sandrion yawns after a restless night. He then waves his hawk down and feeds him a couple of strips of dried beef.

As he prepared to move out, he notices the fog coming in. "I do not like this at all..." He then draws his rapier ready for trouble.

Sandrion strokes his goatee in thought. "While I am no fan of allowing the wizard to know where we are at, I do also recognize the danger of overextending ourselves here, especially as there seems to be only one way to proceed here. We are in a defensible position and I would be OK if we rested here. We should double the watch guard, however."

Sandrion yawns and rolls to his feet. "Well, it sounds like we know who put that chest up here. I, for one, do not relish staying where that wizard can send his minions here to capture us. I suggest we move on." He adds, "sorry Skirros. It is not safe to remain here any longer."

Actually we retreated to the chest room so Skirros can summon her Animal Companion again. Sandrion can help you search but there are two slaves in here as well. Are you sure you want to alert them to our presence now? After we rest then we can check out the forge room.

Sandrion shakes his head in amazement, "A reverse gravity field? Amazing! Well, no one goes to that much trouble to put a chest in that field without it holding something of value...or, he eyes the far door, "of necessity! We need to get the chest down! Too bad Haster does not have a pair of hands else he could retrieve it for us!" He laughs, motioning to the hawk circling above the party.

"Perhaps we can lasso it and pull it out of the field. How far does the field extend down?"

Sandrion utters a curse under his breath as his first shot misses. Gotta clear a path for the others to get in there. Erastil guide my shot...

I am OK with spending the time for Skirros to get another AC. (Heck, it was Sandrion's suggestion which got Bouzz killed in the first place...)

We just need to find a suitable place in the City to hole up without being discovered. Once we have entered the city proper, then we should find a campsite ASAP.

Sandrion is fine with using the potions on himself...William should get some retro healing though.

Sandrion's eyes flash as he sees his hated enemies. His bow twangs as he fires at the closest bugbear.

In response to William's request for healing, I believe Skirros has a wand of CLW.

Sandrion accepts the rapier with a nod of thanks. "This will prove useful in these tight quarters." He hooks the rapier on his belt and again readies his bow.

Sandrion readies his bow, "They must be other tribesmen of the City. It will be a tough fight regardless. If it is a guard room, then luring them out here to fight will not be possible. I seem to have misplaced my sword in that pond so I will stay back and cover the rest of you."

As the group continues down the passage, Sandrion takes the moment to heal himself from his wounds.

Sandrion lowers his bow and sighs heavily, a sense of relief flooding him. Thank the Gods no one else was killed! Well except for... His gaze travels over to the savage half-elven female as she cradles her faithful snake companion to her bosum. I do not know if Bouzz survived this so I am leaving it ambiguous as to Bouzz's state.

He slowly walks over to her and places a hand on her shoulder. "I...I don't know how to say this...but I wanted to thank you, and also Bouzz. If he had not been here, then there is no way I would have survived."

Sandrion sees the crocodiles break the surface and does not hesitate. He moves closer to the pond's edge and fires at the croc grappling William.

Sandrion struggles to hit feet, still bleeding from his struggle with the crocodiles, and draws his bow. "Skirros, go ahead and find your friend! I will cover you!"

He will fire on any crocodile he sees in the water should it approach where Bouzz dropped.

Sandrion gasps for breath and takes a hurried glance behind him. Hoping the others have his back covered, he crawls ashore and out of range of the crocodiles.

Sandrion, having dropped his sword, throws all of his efforts into escaping the jaws of the crocodiles.

Perhaps I should have stayed in the village...

Sandrion yells out, "It looks like we have disturbed the occupants of this pool!" Quickly dropping the paddle, he draws his shortsword and waits for one of the huge crocodiles to pass next to the canoe before stabbing downwards. "Little help here fellows!"

"Of course! I only meant one of us should watch for danger whilst the other one rows." Sandrion replies to her. "Talon looks like he is with out a partner so I would suggest he go last, once we have made sure the water is clear."He whistles softly and soon his red-tailed hawk flies back to his shoulder. "Stay," he orders the bird to stay put on his shoulder for the journey.

Skirros, the black areas are the walls of the cavern, so it looks like the only way to proceed is by canoe. BTW Bouzz does have a Swim speed :)

Sandrion gives the half-elven savage woman a reassuring smile. "Now I am sure these canoes can hold our weight quite easily. And your legless friend should be able to swim quite easily." He walks over to one of the canoes and takes one of the oars out. "Do you want to paddle, or should I?"

Sandrion nods in agreement, "A wise decision here, Bikmalu. It maters not who pairs with me, yet I would...prefer a body with legs!" He smiles and gives a wink to the female savage. "I surely hope your worthy companion can swim?"

Sandrion eyes the grotto closely, "Not for us, I believe. For whoever passes through this pathway." He lowers his bow and turns to Haster who squawks softly. "Guard." He says quietly to the hawk, who flies off to a perch above the group. "I would prefer not to be...distracted here," he explains to the others.

Walking over to the grotto, he bends down and examines the ground closely. "Now how long ago did some avail themselves of this passage..."

Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 To examine the track and see how old they are.
