Dotting for interest as well too. Not sure what your thoughts on guns are but right now thinking of a Black Powder Valuter from the Martial Arts Handbook Black Powder Vaulter

Beginning on thoughts of a backstory:

Farukon Sora, grew up in Piaofeng in the Farukon family. As a young child he remembers playing alongside the cliffs of the mountains, watching the mountain goats hop along the sheer earth and the birds of prey fly he dreamed of one day moving as agilely as them. When he came of age, Farukon became disillusioned with his position as the youngest of the Farukon’s and wanted more for his life and against the great familial bonds of Yuanzi, Farukon Sora left for Shuisang to become a sailor. He wanted to see the world more than he wanted to please his family, a fact that has essentially ostracized him from his family.

It is on the sea that he learned not only the sailors life but began training in firearms (is this a new thing? Is it established?). He quickly became accustomed to it and began combining his agile mountain climbing youth with this new form of combat, creating a style never seen before.

I would like to know more about Old Soeji as well to incorporate that better into the backstory. This is a super cool setting and I must admit my ulterior motive in potentially joining this is because I am also developing a asian themed fantasy setting and I’m interested to see what others are up to.

Cheers!

I’m still here also, in the same boat as Sabs. I’m not sure about Chakki, I’m guessing they are too busy. Same with Butoka, he just started a new job so I dont think he can play anymore.

What do you guys want to do. Recruiting two people at this point, narratively could be difficult but I’m open to it!

Jade Regent

Been, waiting to see if Butoka and Chakki are planning on posting, didn’t want to get too far ahead without making sure that they are on board still. Thanks for you patience.

Jade Regent

The road and village seems empty when you look across from that vantage point, no traps appear to be set for you or your horse.

Jade Regent

The room that Kidlat, Sabs, and Ela’in are in is similar to that first watchtower room that you went in to after finding Sabs. It’s a simple room with a ladder leading up to the top and if go to the top you can look and see the rest of the layout of the village from that vantage point but sadly do not see any goblins running about. Let me know if you want to spend more time on top for a perception check

The room that Butoka and Chakki are in is another simple room, filled only with cots and empty broken chests. It appears to have a living quarter for roughly 5-8 goblins.

Jade Regent

A human body? There were some bones, but no you have not been in that room yet.

Jade Regent

Wandering in to the room, Ela’in shyly states, ”Should.....should we wake him up now and question him?”

Jade Regent

With a swift step forward Butoka quickly dispatches both goblins in a lightning fast flurry of blows.

We’ll call that encounter over since the other Goblin is unconscious. Everybody take 405 XP. What do you guys do next?

@ Chakki, also Mage Armor is over.

Jade Regent

I’m fine with ruling that as a 5 foot step, its akin to dropping an item as a free action but with some movement involved lol

Kidlat hops next to the goblin wearing dark blue armor and knocks it unconcisous with the hilt of his sword. As its crumpled body falls down the rest of Sabs fire burns out in the room, leaving trails of smoke and the smell of burnt goblin flesh.

Chakki fires a ray of frost at the goblin in front of the unmoving goblin in front of her but as the cold subsides, the figure still appears to be breathing.

As a desperate last attempt to get out alive, the goblin in the light yellow armor fires one last arrow at Butoka but her fear causes her to shoot wide outside of the door.

Both the goblins in front of Kidlat immediately burn to a crisp but the one in front of Sabs ducks under the flame. As he stands up the top of his hair is singed; the smell of burnt goblin hair and skin wafts through the room.

Ela’in moves in front of the door behind Butoka and fires an arrow at the goblin in the back. The arrow sticks into the ground just in front of the goblin, missing it entirely, ”Sorry I missed!” Ela’in shouts, ” I didn’t want to hit you Butoka!”

As both the goblins that Chakki targets with Color Spray get covered in a sea of rainbow, the one right in front of Chakki gets a chance to swipe at her with his short sword. It barely sails past her head as the arm holding the sword lets go of it, the goblin holding it now unconscious.

The one in the light yellow armor, wipes some color from his eyes and knock and arrow, firing it at the one who just cast a spell on them. The arrow connects with her shoulder. Chakki take 3 points of damage.

The goblins in front of Kidlat, both prone, beginning bickering on the ground and shoving each other on the ground. As the katana wielding samurai bursts through the door they scream momentarily and both stand up. Kidlat, you can take an AOO on the blue goblin if you want to.

The one in the back fires an arrow at Kidlat and it goes wide, lodging itself in the frame of the door, the twang echoing through the room.

The goblin at the top of the ladder fires another arrow at Sabs in a desperate attempt to prevent her from coming up the stairs; the arrow just whizzing past her face leaving her unaccosted and wound free. Kidlat could take either an AOO on Blue or Dark Blue

Sorry friends! I had intensive week for one of my classes at school and was basically in school Monday-Friday straight all day.

Yeah, it can get confusing with block Intiative a little bit, but block initiative can make the combat run smoother. I think going forward if you are planning on delaying or readying an action maybe give a couple triggers in case the one does trigger.

This isn’t supposed to be give you two triggers but allows you to still do something if other people’s posts mess with your triggers.

Jade Regent

As Sabs swings at the goblin with her fist, the goblin dodges out of the way and tries to knock an arrow in his shortbow while Sabs moves away but drops the arrow in the mud.

Meanwhile above Butoka steps forward and looses a flurry of blows at the the Goblin in the dark brown leather. The first swing goes wide over the goblin’s head and the goblin uses the momentum to get into a more advantageous position. Committing to the second attack but now at a difficult angle, Butoka’s second swing forces him off balance and causes him to fall prone in front of the goblin.

The goblin takes a swing at the large Tiefling’s form but its sword only splinters the wood boards next to Butoka’s head.

As Ela’in begins shrinking she whispers, ”Not yet Old Deadeye, give me one more moment.” as her body glows with light again she begins to increase in size as she aims her bow at the goblin in the red armor that Sabs attacked.

The arrow connects and snaps the head of the goblin back in an instant as she reduces back to her normal size.

Roughly 5-8 feet above you, enough that you need a ladder to climb up to it, but not enough that cant hop down from the walk away.

Jade Regent

@Kidlat Since Delaying would cause you to completely lose a turn this round, I’lol move forward assuming that your intent is to Ready An Action with the trigger being that if the Goblin in front of the door falls you want to move in to his space. But please look up how Delaying and Readying works if you dont know. The beauty of PBP is that you have the time to look up rules on your own, take advantage of that so you don’t slow down the rest of us.

As the blast of cold air leaves Chakki’s fingers, the goblin on his knees momentarily looks up with a look of sadness on his face before the cold energy washes over his body leaving a frozen goblin body to rot on the walkway forever.

Once the goblin is down Kidlat moves out onto the walkway in preparation for further combat.

As the goblin in front of Sabs pulls back an arrow from his shortbow, Sabs lunges at him with her fist instead kicking up some mud that momentarily enters her eye causing her to miss. As she wipes the mud from her eye, an arrow strikes her in the leg. Sabs take 1 point of damage. Another arrow whizzes past Sabs’ head and she turns around to see that standing on a ladder above her is a goblin wearing dark blue leather armor with a shortbow trained on her.

A door opens behind Ela’in as a goblin wearing blue leather armor swings his shortsword at her. His sword gets caught in the door frame however and as while hes attempting to pull it out an arrow from the goblin in the back hits the door right next to the sword causing the blue Goblin to fall backwards and stumble in to the one behind it. Both the blue and light blue Goblins are moved back 5 feet and are prone

Another goblin rounds the eastern corner and head straight for Kidlat swinging his sword down as he does. Kidlat parries the blow with his katana and pushes the attack away from his body.

Chakki and Butoka hear a door opening behind them as two more goblins come in, one wielding a sword and the other a bow.

The Goblins look confused as Sabs shouts at them in their own language,

Goblin:

”Maybe they are skeletons. Hey! Watch out!”

one of the goblins shouts as the other turns around just in time to duck under the fireball heading towards it.

Goblin:

”No way! Skeletons can’t do that! Murder them!”

Butoka’s bo staff connects with the goblin behind him spalltering him with the same dark red blood from the previous goblin and while the goblin is still standing it collapses onto a knee in front of Butoka.

”Excellent hit Butoka!” Ela’in shouts as her hand lights up with a white light, she instantly grows in size as the goblin takes a swing at Ela’in, connecting with her now enlarged form and slicing a large cut into her chest. Stricken by momentary pain, Ela’in lines up a shot at the goblin further away from Sabs. The arrow pierces the forehead of the goblin that dodged the fireball and it falls to ground.

Lol, started editing the map but had to leave before I could actually post the gameplay post haha. Have fun!

Jade Regent

If the assumption is that Kidlat will just Coup De Grace them, I’m fine with just moving past this combat. Also in the future since it is a full round action you can’t move either, unless I’m missing something. This time its not a huge deal since the last two creatures of unconscious already

As Kidlat walks up to each unconscious goblin and plunges his sword into their chest only a moment of silence is taken by the party before a scream is heard outside of the building. ”Hey they aren’t skeletons! Get them!”, as more goblins begin pouring out of the various buildings. Six sound like they are coming from a building just to the south while three appear to be coming from the southeast.

@Chakki, yes, after this battle it will be done. And the goblin at the door was killed by Butoka. I’ll have you target one of the unconscious Goblins instead. You would be attacking around a corner, there’s a door, so it would give the goblin partial cover.

As Kidlat rushes past Ela’in he attacks the goblin with his katana from around the corner of the wall only to slice through part of the wall, his blade getting caught in the wall. A howl of laughter is heard as the goblin with the firework points at Kidlat falling down on the ground in a fit of hysteria.

This momentary distraction is all Butoka needs to bring both ends of bo staff down on the goblin in quick succession silencing the short burst of laughter.

”It’s alright Kidlat, you’ll get the next one! Erastil, watch over this one.”

As Kidlat gives one final heave to yank his katana from the wall, Ela’in places her hand on Kidlat’s shoulder he feels a warming light enter his body as Ela’in casts Touch of Good on Kidlat,

The two goblins and Butoka are sprayed with a cacophony of color from Chakki’s hands. The goblins in the back momentarily stagger backwards then collapse on to the floor. Unfortunately the firework is still lit as an explosion rockets from it just missing Butoka’s head as it flies out of the door past Kidlat as he climbs up the ladder; as that goblin drops the firework on the ground with it still lit and firing. ”OW! It burned me!! and quickly sticks his hand in his mouth in an attempt to cool it down only to realize that his hand was on fire when it went into his mouth.

Butoka needs to roll a Will Save.

Jade Regent

Correct, can’t end your movement in a space with an ally, so two options would be to stand behind Butoka and hit him, or stand in front of Butoka and not hit him.

I think its similar to like ranged combat right, your essentially breaking up your movement to cast a spell and then end your turn either in another square or that one. I like the RAW reading cause it forces the team to think more tactically with their whole team rather than just themself (realize its a little to say this since I moved Ela’in lol but the point still stands)

Jade Regent

The issue is that I think if you want to hit all goblins your going to hit Butoka as well. Otherwise if you dont want to hit Butoka than you can only hit the two in the back.

There’s a five foot space between Butoka and the goblins in the back so thats making it impossible to hit all three without hitting Butoka.

Also map should be corrected

Jade Regent

@Chakki Any thoughts on whether or not you want to move into the room or just behind Butoka to get color spray into the room?

Jade Regent

If you dont mind a slower game Sab; I think since we’re mostly friends I dont mind the slower delay. Since I’m new to pbp gm’inG we’ll try it Sabs way. I think though for the sake of moving things along, if we are waiting for you in combat it might just be easiest to have me act for you or delay (obviously all depends on if your going to go be gone for long stretches of time)

Also, now of this is to make you feel bad Chakki, life happens and it always take priority before gaming lol.

Jade Regent

Thanks for letting us know Chakki! No worries, I understand that things get busy. Any qualms to be botted to move things along?

Any general instructions for how you want Chakki to played in combat?

Also as long as Chakki is alright with it, anyone willing to bot Chakki?

Butoka rushes past Sabs, still reeling from getting hit by a firework the back of the head, and finds himself face to face with a goblin wielding one of Sandru’s fireworks. The light from the candle in the goblin’s hand is bright enough to momentarily confuse Butoka just enough that the swings with his bo staff miss the goblin as two arrows coming whizzing right past his face, just missing him completely.

”What is happening in there Butoka?” Ela’in shouts out as she moves over to the other side of Sabs.

The one goblin by the door has a firework in his hand that is lit while the other two goblins have short bows.

”Ummmm.......yes! Come find us inside this building!” you hear a voice yelling from inside the building. ” Shhhhh! Quiet! We want them in here!”

Kidlat, while the gate are twisted enough that it would likely be impossible to get a horse through and Kabayo is initially resistantl, you usher him over the rubble to find yourself inside the goblin village. You find that Kabayo is standing in pure mud and its making it difficult to ride him, not mention the fact that the buildings are all on raised poles. Standing just a little bit in front of you on a raised walkway are your friends.

Jade Regent

Sabs slowly opens the door to the North and pokes her head out, seeing nothing initially the Ela’in and the rest of the group follows.

When they find themselves on the walk away they hear a noise to the east coming from the nearby building, as a goblin head pokes out of the door, shrieks and shuts the door immediately. The sound of concerned shouting can be heard in the building followed by quiet hushes and silence.

As soon as the party makes it way out onto the open again, Kidlat can see them from where he sits atop Kobaya. Kidlat also briefly sees the small goblin head poke out from the door to the building immediately east and disappear.

You notice that there is a walkway that leads further south into the village nestled between the building you just came from and the building that the goblin’s head poked out of.

Jade Regent

Yes! Not sure if you guys are proceeding through the room to the door or not. Also not really sure Chakki and Butoka are at the moment. I know Butoka’s player started a new job so I’ll give him a bit to get settled.

@kidlat, thanks for your patience I promise that something will happen that will bring Kidlat in for sure it’s just a matter of the rest of the party getting through the building.

If we don’t see some movement by the end of the weekend/Monday I may have Ela’in move the party along.

This sounds really fun! First thought off the bat would be a Android Mechanic, but I’ll have to throw together a more in depth character to submit

Jade Regent

Sabs quietly pulls the sheets off of one of the beds. The room hasn’t been cleaned in a while, if ever, and dust is quickly kicked up from the motion.

Under the sheet the bed is completely empty, it looks like it hasn’t been slept in for a few days. The more intriguing thing however is the pile of what appears to be decaying human bones near the foot of the bed.

Sab’s voice echos in the empty room, bouncing off of the half dozen “beds” that are in the room. None of them look very comfortable though.

The only way out of the room other than the way you came is a door to the north.

Ela’in quietly speaks up rushing to follow behind Sabs as she has kicked down the last two doors. ”Miss Sabs, we are playing a game of hide and seek with the Goblins, it may be best to try to find them undetected.”

Jade Regent

Walking outside of the south door you immediately find yourself in a small hallway. About 10 feet down is a door to your left and further down the hallway past that first door is another door. The hallway has no lights in it, save for the rays of the sun coming from a hole in the western wall.

I would also love to play through Doomsday Dawn if there’s a spot open! Although I’ve never actually done PFS so if you want someone with a little bit more experience that way I totally understand!

Depending on if you’ve got spots I would be interested as well!

No worries! Thanks for letting us know! Hope everything goes well as work!

@Sabs added your token.

@everyone Also the map should be editable now by everybody so you can move your own tokens.

So with that being said, are you guys moving to the next building? Or still just talking in the first building? You have a little bit more agency in PBP. Assuming you move into the next building but if you stay and talk for a little in the first building thats fine too.

Butoka, Chakki, and Sabs:

As you move south out of the building that you found Sabs in you find yourself walking through a tower that leads to a small stained incline to the a second story that overlooks the rest of the village under a roofed thatch, but is otherwise open to the air.

On the first floor is another door leading south.

From the second floor you see Butoka astride Kabayo some feet away from the front gate but other than that you do not see anything out of the ordinary.

Ela’in Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Butoka Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Chakki Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Sabs Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Kidlat:

Just as the fifth minute is about to pass you see the faces of Butoka, Chakki, and Ela’in on the second story of a tower just south of the building they had entered in to. With them though you see a strange small pink haired gnome standing next to them.

Kidlat:

All in good time my friend, patience is the name of the game. When you had posted that you wouldn’t have seen anything interesting.

You spend a few minutes trying to keep track of Butoka, Chakki, and Ela’in from such a distance and while difficult to see exactly what is happening you do see them climb up a ladder to their right and just catch a glimpse of them walking in to a building before the wall surrounding the village cuts off the rest of the view.

Butoka, Chakki, Sabs:

Ela’in looks at Chakki, ”Well she’s technically the only human here, we do have Kidlat but hes outside the village right waiting to charge in if something happens. Should we contiune moving around the village then?”

Jade Regent

”It is a pleasure to meet you Miss Sabrina Sara ZSierra Sablesash,” Ela’in bows low to the gnome, a curious gesture as she is lowered head is almost just as high as the gnome.

”I echo my friends, while we are relieved to see something other than goblins here, what are you doing here?”

Sabs:

How long have you been here? I’m assuming that you’ve only been here for a bit, maybe a day at the most, but since you’ve been here the entire village has been mostly quiet. Would Sabs have just set up camp and waited for something to happen? That may work best story wise, but if you have been exploring then it appears that a battle recently took place, most likely about a few days ago.

Jade Regent

With the glances you were able to take before it disappeared, the figure appeared to be gnomish in nature.

”Should we find out what that was?” Ela’in looks confused at the group as to what just happened, ”Or ignore it and continue moving through the goblin village? The gnome seems to be the building directly above the ladder we were going to ascend to.”
