* huge grin * Perfect. While we're discussing voices, at least for a start, until I warm up to writing in Saendithas' "voice", I'm basing his sound and speech patterns of of James Spader. (Reddington on Blacklist, Alan Shore on Boston Legal, or if you don't know those, Ultron in Age of Ultron). Might not stay there, but the idea amuses me. :D

My thought was that Saendithas would be grudgingly drawn to the gnome, more out of curiosity and wonder than anything else. Though a bit arrogant at times, Saen is a child of magic, and will be in awe of this "new" school of study that he doesn't understand while at the same time be being told he has an aptitude for it by Hadzranl. I picture him (the gnome) as charming in an odd way, yoda-ish without the odd speech patterns, with a love for music and drink. (Feel free to chime in with other qualities you'd like to see...or not want, for that matter.)

Would that be your preference, Grimmy? Maybe have us starting out in small groups that find our way together through story and circumstance? I'm good either way. Or even if we all start out individually and end up at some locale together. Just looking forward to this, in any event. :D

Really digging that idea. * grin *

Shared NPC: Since it's such a quirky field...which is making me lean towards it, howsabout we both know the Chonurgy Wizard named Hadzranl, who's a Gnome going blind in one eye. For his personality as a mentor, I was thinking him being quiet, but quirky himself, sort of like Robin Williams in Dead Poet's Society. HOWEVER, I'm open to discussion on it. :D

Magical Academia fun: Saendithas is still debating (I am, that is) which Tradition he will follow, narrowing the fields down to Chronurgy and Evocation, schools which are quite different in pretty much every way, and so as I've been working on his backstory, I was thinking of working in mentors from each field of study with whom he might be ingratiating himself. I'd welcome npcs either as mentors or maybe better, students competing for spots in their tutelage. Being less than charismatic and social, I'm sure Saen would be a quick target for bullying.
In any event, howsabout a Chonurgy Wizard named Hadzranl, a Gnome going blind in one eye, and a Tiefling Evoker named Rhendlynnth, a half-elf who's even side is Drow? Does that work? Grimmy, would you have a preference for which tradition he eventually chooses? I'n leaning towards Chronurgy, but the sculpt spell ability of Evocation is really hard to pass on.

You didn't push me on the personality, no worries. He didn't HAVE a personality, and you just triggered it with your idea. Likewise, I wasn't trying to push you towards a female character if that's not what you intended. Not sure how/why I came to that conclusion. Obviously play what you like...it's YOUR character. As far as how pleasant he'll be...he's going to be reasonably polite in public at the very least...just arrogant and impatient. While quite smart, he'll think he's smarter than he is. One of the things I want to play up will be his grudging/growing respect and feeling of protectiveness for your character, since you're obviously overcoming a disability, and have come to him for help. Edit: For further clarification, Saendithas might at times be a pain in the ass, but the player won't. It'll only be for fun, and intended to make for cool interactions. Feel free to take him down a notch or two if he gets uppity. ;)
So. A Wizard has a name. And a D&D Beyond character sheet. * grin * Mr. Nevets here. This will be my alias for the campaign. |
