Female Human Witch 1
Its a pugwampi. They like to live near gnolls. I wonder if there are any about. The woman glances around as if trying to catch any lurking humanoids. Then, quite abruptly, the woman seems to focus as she stares at the small corpse. It seemed to create or at least use some kind of localised probability field. Quite fascinating really. An inverted matrix? Latent generator? I need to study it more.. maybe.... Then its gone and her eyes wander again. Do I have something in my hair? Assuming we've worked out something went on but not exactly what. Sabeen isn't able to divine anything very useful about its abilities.

With the wagon fire burnt out, Sabeen watches Apollo's greeting / attempted courtship of Almah with some bemusement. We can use Mr Shiny to find the goat, she says excitedly. A few harsh words later and a small, roughly man shaped, figure of light appears, casting plenty of light on the trail. Dancing lights

Im in Abu Dhabi for the next 2-3 days. Should still be able to post from the hotel but if for any reason I can't Sabeen will follow the sleep spell with fortune hex on those trying to pull the wagon and fight the fire. DM memorised spells are in my profile under the spell tab. Will always keep them there unless you'd rather I do it differently.

Earlier Sabeen watches the "horseplay" between Kori and Dmitri with some fascination although she reacts not at all as the man takes the tremendous wallop. Though she seems to draw into herself for the rest of the ride to the claw. ------------------------------------------------ At the sign of the fire she just nods sagely as if at an old friend. When the card hits her and bounces she plucks it from the air and looks at it briefly. Ah it begins as it will end. In fire. Not moving from the camel and card still clutched in her hand she begins to chant in a thick gutteril voice that doesn't possibly look like it could come from such a small frame. Her pupils and iris go completely black as she summons her magic. Will start by dumping a sleep spell on the most fractitious animals. 1 round casting time. DC 16.

I didn't mean on the outside, the woman says serenely. ---------------------------------------------------------- Kori wrote: Kori exits the tent, catching the waif talking to Dmitri. "Girl, if you invite this man to you, I care not. But if any of them come to you by force, tell me and I will split them from groin to throat." She levels a look at Dmitri, content that either his control or her threat kept him from touching her during the night. Sabeen seems to think the drow's warning is hilarious but gives her a wide and endearing smile. Oh I am fine thank you. Your skin is so pretty. Did you spill some ink on it?

The last member of the hired group is as small as some of the others are large. A tiny human woman, heavily tanned with wavy, messy-brown hair she spends most of the journey just watching, sitting perched up high on her camel like a throne. She eagerly takes in the sights (such as they are) and the rest of the caravaners, although she mostly laughs nervously at any attempt at conversation. Her gaze shifts mostly between Koritylija and Apollo's dinosaur with whom she seems equally fascinated. As soon as the caravan comes to a stop she bounces down from the camel, full of energy and pats her camel. I will call you camel-y. From ground level she appears no bigger, several inches short of 5 and a half feet, and her flowing brown-yellow robes trail nearly to the ground hiding her sandaled feet. Slung across her back is a tattered backpack that looks on the verge of falling to pieces and a heavily worn small crossbow. As the camp is set, she doesn't stint on the chores, collecting what scraps can be found for the fire. As she wanders around she seems to be singing to herself although as she gets close enough to be heard her words seem to be nonsense (or at least no language anyone has ever heard). As she settles in to sleep she mutters to noone in particular. Here we are. The beginning and the end. What fun. ------------------------------------------------------- In the morning Angmar wakes to the sight of the tiny woman staring at him. She giggles and darts out of the tent, eager to depart.
I'd like to put forward Sabeen, Desert Witch. Background:
Five days after the fall of Kelmarane a caravan heading for Solku and passing twenty miles south of the village came across a 5 year old girl, seemingly mute and wandering aimlessly. Taken for a survivor from the village, none of the caravaners noticed either that she was surpisingly hale for so long alone, nor the tiny scorpion the girl was intent on following to navigate the trade route. Fostered in Solku, Sabeen grew up fey and otherwordly, seemingly able to hear and see things that others could not. While she spoke it was often of things that made no sense. Of persons and events that seemed imagined. Many thought her made slow by her ordeal or the harshness of the sun. She simply did not fit in with the simple family who took her in and she spent more and more time wandering alone in the bleak northern lands. Her companion, her friend, she kept secret. As time went on he (he was most certainly a he) taught her many amazing things. And with that knowledge came a power for her to influence, for the first time, the things happening around her. At seventeen summers she left, wandering the wildlands of Katapesh. For a time she travelled with a tribe of jann who thought her an oracle. Other times alone, a small, thin figure, cloaked and veiled, there was something about her that made commoners sign the evil eye as she passed, even when it was to pause and help a sickened child, and made bashers and raiders think twice about crossing her path. She wandered and when she dreamed it was of flames: a great beast setting the world to fire. Kelmarane, her ruined home, was always at their heart. During an infrequent trip to [Katapesh/Solku] she heard news of Almah's expedition, a mission to reclaim and resettle the village after decades. She felt compelled to join and she approached Garavel the expedition factor about joining. A small demonstration of her abilities secured a place. Whatever she would find there, she would finally be coming home.
Sabeen is unfortunately a fair bit crazy although there is hope that as she levels she may be able to re-build her fractured personalities. With the 53 point stat array rolled I was inclined to build something more MADish but it was getting a bit silly. Thus I've rebuilt a previous LOF PC that was originally done with 25 points. The extra doesn't make too much difference as her key stats are the same. The only thing left to do is recount starting coin. One issue is that none of the campaign traits quite fit crunch wise so I've taken the liberty of subbing Survivor instead. Can always change that. Sabeen was played for a short time until the DM pulled out and I took the game over. This is now in Chapter 3 on this site starting in 2010 so if existing knowledge of the AP is a problem then feel free to disregard the application.

Magic goodies already. Might be worth a quick discussion about how we want to split stuff. Do we want to take permanant magic items out of treasure shares or just split up as appropriate? I'll get flight hex eventually so not too worried about who gets the ring of feather fall. Linah and Khalid seem the obvious options for the other. At a meta level I'd be awfully worried as a cleric if the first magic item I was given was something that told me if my god would be mad at me. Suggests bad things to follow.
Female Human Witch 1
That seems to be our weakness. We have 3 party members (Grall, Sajan and Sabeen who aren't iniative takers) and 1 who is a sociopathic madwoman (I'll let you guess which one). We need our holy duo to step up and make our decisions for us :) Sabeen follows the overgrown courtyard seems boring.

Due to the earlier "hefting hammer" comment I gathered Nuveril grabbed the spoils straight away. Sabeen then scanned it in her hands mentioned it was magical and Nuveril did the gloaty thing. Happy to do / retcon as Tanner desires but it does seem kind of dumb to leave it as the unidentified magic warhammer for the rest of the campaign given I'm 99.99999999999999% sure its +1. Absolutely no offense at the hate btw although I can't help hoping we don't end up in a tactical situation where Sabeen needs Nuveril's help.

The hammer is magical. Sabeen says to the halfing seemingly still oblivious to her dislike. Sabeen isn't the pro-active type but smoke that is visible to our camp 1 mile away is visible to the gnolls 1.5 miles away. They could have a patrol here in under half an hour so suggest we at least have the mercenaries on look out at the monastery.

Sabeen looks relieved at Linah's clarification and smiles at her gratefully. She nods emphatically at the question. Think theres a chest yet to open. Sabeen will scan it with detect magic while looking at the other stuff.

Sabeen will let the others put out the fire and search although she will wander over and cast detect magic on the loot (unless Linah is doing this). She is more interested in the pugwampi bodies dragging the most intact one out of the chapel proper and examining it closely under the light from Mr Shiny. Humming to herself she takes out a sharp little dagger and drives it with force down into the creatures body, skipping aside to adroitly dodge the resulting weak stream of blood. She examines the insides of the creature with some fascination and after poking around for a time starts to speak in excited tones. Amazing. Its pituitary gland is three times the expected size for a creature of this genus and mass. I theorize that is the source of its localized negative probability field. But it doesn't seem to phsyically warp space, the field operates based on the perceptions of those within the affected area. Its a living example of Crae's theory of sympathetic probability.. She peeters out and her eyes lose their focus. Are there spiders in my hair? Suggest we leave any more detailed searching or activities til later as Sajan's mage armour is running out. Unless we've taken an hour in which case don't mind.

La la la. Given its down to Khalid and me and our lone brave pug here are some rolls. Round 14 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Round 15 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Round 16 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Round 17 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Edit: Sigh thats a lot of bolts sticking out of walls.
