All right Charles. Here's how we'll play it. You stay on the up and up with us, we stay on the up and up with the Blackhounds. Stick by me, do as I say when I say it, and whatever happens, stay calm. You panic, you will put the Sunrunners at risk. I wilk take that personally. So, now that we're friends, let's see about finding some goodies. Taking a look around to see how well the hanger ia secured, he bellows, Hey, hey!! Listen up!! I know we're all looking for a payday and some toys to go along with it. The Sunrunners will play it true with you. I'm asking for the same in return. The Blackhounds were kind enough to provide us with their tech expert Charles. He's going to get us past their firewalls, the floorplan, AND an inventory for the base. All of which will be shared. The way I see it, Leinder wants the artifact. Fair enough. By my reckoning that leaves quite a bit to be shared equally amongst the rest of us. Rio gestures his arms wide, indicating everyone in the hanger. Now, let's finishing cracking this nut. And when we're done, DRINKS ARE ON ME!
Rio raises an eyebrow at the display. Well Charlie, all things considering, I hope you can understand the obvious need for caution. His voice is calm and soothing, almost as though he's talking to a child, but not quite. Turning to Tekumsah, gesturing for him to lower his weapons, I'm pretty sure Charlie is exactly who he says he is. Especially considering how badly we've overwhelmed the base. I've got a feeling that with the way The Sunrunners spearheaded the fight, everyone else is willing to let us play commander and call the shots. That way if everything goes belly up it's we're to blame. Sound about right Charlie?
Korak The Boisterous wrote: Hey there. I'm interested in this but is there any house rules keeping force using characters from running the game? I remember force powers didn't allow saves While I understand why you have that perspective, I never found that to be the case in Saga, particularly with the way Force Powers were set-up: Use the Force check is compared to the target's Fortitude/Reflex/Will Defense to determine effectiveness. Plus once a power was used, it was done for the encounter, unless you have the power in your suite multiple times or roll a 20 on a Use the Force check. Opinion's vary on this. The talent set-up does a lot to offset many Jedi angst issues.
DM Jubal: I'll skip. Can't think a more compelling argument for them at the moment. They were just nice haves, but not important to the overall character.
As for Enzo. Summary - Enzo Capote is the leader of the Reapers. Notorious street gang operating near the lakeshore. He got where he did through sheer determination. Stats - Brawn 2, Agility 2, Mind 1 Powers - Intensive training, gun skills, possibly heightened attribute Skills - Extremely street smart Advantages - Frightful Presence, Leadership
Origin & Current - Enzo didn't start off walking a life of crime, that's just where things lead him. By the time he turned 18, he had spent almost as much time locked up in Juvie as he had been not. Murdered and intimidated his was to head up the Reapers. All was good until that damned do-gooder Dunsmore made him shoot his brother. DM Jubal: Sorry about that. The logic behind Fearless, is the thrill seeking mental malfunction, reckless behavior became a coping mechanism to help deal with the loss of his parents on 9/11.
The Duty part is another aspect of his mental malfunction that is fallout from the loss of his parents. He has deep seated sense of responsibility to try and protect others. Felt that that Duty was best placed toward Chicago PD as a tie in for him being a Forensic Consultant with them. Fearless: Completely immune to the effects of fear, including powers based on fear. Any attempt to frighten or intimidate you automatically fails. You also get a +2 dice bonus to all attempts to intimidate others. Duty:You owe your allegiance to someone or organization (Chicago PD). You obey all orders from superiors within that organization without question. If it means sacrificing your life so be it. Often it leads to suddenly having to drop everything to follow your orders. I am working on back story for him, basics am fleshing bits more and will post):
Or will be in a few moment Rio nods at Linc before bounding off the ship to find Brintak, Tek, and Zach. AS he makes his way toward them, he roars loud enough for all to hear, LISTEN UP!!! Waiting a moment for everyone to settle down. As you no doubt are aware, Communications are disabled. It seems the artifact they activated puts out some high powered interference. This is going to make getting message back and forth a pain in the ass. This is what we're going to do, until someone from Leinder gets planetside to take control. With Hanger secured, we need to get some internal intel of what the layout of this base. Pointing to Zach, This is Mr. Tamm, the Sunrunners Computer Expert. If their are any other computer experts present, coordinate with Mr. Tamm to get us what we need from the systems. Meanwhile, the rest of you, organize yourselves into fire teams. As soon as Mr. Tamm is able to get us the floor plans, the teams can be dispersed for clean and sweeps. Rio's voice takes on a slightly condescending tone, Of course, if you don't wish to follow my suggestions, then by all means, do as you see fit. I would rather not see anyone slagged due to lack of intel and messed up communications.

DM Jubal:
I would also like to add the Fearless advantage and the Duty disadvantage. His Duty would be to the Chicago PD with him being a Forensic consultant. Mental Malfunction:
Legacy - Are his parents proud of who he has become?; Approval - Seeks to emulate the ideals that Steve Rogers embodies; Thrill seeker - enjoys when things are dangerous, sometimes putting himself at risk to push himself. Enzo Capote (Nemesis): Brawn 2 Agility 2+3 Mind 2 Powers
Advantage: Frightful Presence (Something about you scares people. Whenever you try to frighten or intimidate someone, you get a +2 Multiple Bonus.
Disadvantage: Normal
Skills: Athletics/Throwing, Stealth/Shadowing, Deception/Lying, Streetwise/Crime Mental Malfunction: Vengeance (Holds Daniel Dunsmore responsible for the death of his brother.)
Ok, so here goes... I vote for Chicago. Name: Daniel Dunsmore
Origin: Parents died in the plane crash on 9/11. His father being one of the passengers that tried to subdue the Hijackers. Losing his parents inspired him to be all that he could. Employment: Works with the Chicago PD, part-time as a Forensic consultant, extreme sport instructor and high school tutor when not consulting. Nemesis: Enzo Capote. Enzo blames Daniel for the loss of his brother Vincent, who died when Enzo tried to shoot Daniel during an attempted robbery of Chevron Gas Station, but shot his brother instead. Picture: Not sure how to get a picture in here, but the actor Steve Bacic. How he looked as Telemachus Rhade on the show Andromeda.
Rio carefully maneuvers the Eclipse into the Hanger, such that it's bow is facing the Hanger Doors. As the Eclipse lands, Rio addresses the remaining onboard crew over the ships internal comms, Gunners, keep weapons powered. Though fighting has died down, we won't be caught off guard by unexpected guests. Eclipse, maintain hot standby on all power systems, self diagnostic to determine issues that will need to be addressed. I will be disembarking to join the rest of the ground crews in clearing the base. Linc, get geared up, and meet me at the gear doors. Time to finish this and find out what this place was sitting on. Rio unbuckles from the Pilots chair, letting out a sigh of relief that the Eclipse and crew came through all right. Taking a moment to check his gear, he heads down to the bay doors to await Lincoln.
Interested!!! I don't have GURPS in my library, but after a quick Google search, I found these: GURPS 4th edition BASIC SET Characters (pdf format, 335 pages)
Link Redacted Also, Steve Jackson games has a GURPS Lite document. Begs the question if either are OK to use? And are the complete enough for a character.
Full on breach? We're all going to have to disembark to get this done. Rio rubs his chin, taking a moment to think about how everything has progressed. "Sunrunners, Rio begins over the Eclipse comms, his voice confident, "we have been ordered for a full-on breach. The only way that is going to happen is we disembark and join the Mechs on the ground. The Sunrunners were the first to arrive at the base." Rio's voice becomes fuller as he talks, "We brought the fight right to their doorstep, catching them off guard. While the fight has been raging, the Sunrunners have been in the forefront - LEADING! They've seen what we can do in the Eclipse...now let's show'em what we can do on the ground. Sunrunners, gear up, prepare to disembark!" Vinsomner, are the Hangar doors big enough and opened wide enough for the Eclipse to be brought inside? If so, Rio would bring the Eclipse into the Hangar and land.
Improve tech? That explains why such a big payday? Thank you Eclipse. Use ship lights and static bursts over radio to send in morse the following message: All ground forces, clean abd sweep. Leinder ships, keep eye out for secondary ships. Rio issues. Brintak, you feel up to joining the groundpounders? I could use you to pass along to switch to using lights for morse code. It'll be a bit slower, but it'll keep us from being completely burnt with communications? Rio suggests, those it comes out more as a command rather than actual order.
Rio's eyes open wide at having to evade the shield...
Damn it!!! No coms! Screw you bastards, there is more than one way to get the message out. Rio thinks, as his mind works to adjust to the rapidly changing conditions. Gunners, continue targeting AA Guns. Eclipse, did those artifacts do anything else? Also, use external lights for further communication using morse code. Send: Roger orbital fleet dispersed. Base breach commencing. End. What's the status of the our Orbital forces?
Eclipse, using the readings from the planet, is it possible that it is some sort of catastrophic planetary core breach? Run a simulation using the readings you and the Eagles have detected. I want a probability assessment. Rio says as he continues to maneuver the Eclipse. Open a channel to the base we are assaulting. This is Rio Wolf of the Sunrunners. Surrender now before your forces and base are completely destroyed. Those who surrender will not be harmed.
Persuasion: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Tek, Zach, breach the base! All mech units, charge the base. Lancers, target the Longbow. Eclipse autocannons starfe the shit out of the ground forces. Eclipse, focus on songle AA gun, gain control and hammer the Longbow. Eclipse Heavey Lasers and Missiles, target barrel of orbital cannon, fire on my Mark. Rio calmly issues commands as though all hell hasn't broken loose around them. As he does so, he maneuvers the Eclipse toward an orbital battery, getting in a position so that the Heavy Lasers and Missiles have a shot at the orbital battery barrels. Fire!!! Pilot: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Will use my second bennie... Pilot: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Matthias listened carefully to Darne's words, weighing all that he said. Looking at Darne's feet before looking him in the eye, with a voice filled with conviction, When the deception comes to light. You know it will, especially since some of the assassins fot away, what then? Yes, our house got infiltrated. Yes, Lord Domeric while bedridden from poison was stuck by a coward's blade while he was weakest. And rather than provide the truth, we cower with a lie. I cannot be a party to that. It shows more weakness than cunning and strength. If this is you plan to begin your rule, I regret my support for you.
F#$# me!!! No more!!! Rio angrily thinks before ordering, Eclipse gunners, concentrate fire on AA Batteries. Tek, Zach, keep hammering that Longbow! Everyone stay frosty, Eclipse just gave me readings of some unusually powerful energy read8ngs from inside the base! Eclipse, keep working on the AA batteries! Rio maneuvers the Eclipse so that he can uae the ships engines to burn an AA Battery. Pilot: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Rio raises an eye at the Eclipse's report, That doesn't sound good. Rio says, echoing the thought flashing through his head. Pilot: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Eclipse, what is the probability that your readings indicate self destruct being initiated? Rio asks as he continues maneuvering the ship to avoid incoming fire, though it was starting to appear that friendly fire was going to start to become an issue.
Rio smiles, Welcome to the party everyone! Tek stick with Zach. Eclipse, keep working on those AA batteries. Autocannons, ground support. Heavy Lasers and Missiles, target closest Orbital Battery. Then iver intership com, It might be a good idea to have your lancers light up those orbital batteries. Rio offers, part suggestion, part command.
We'll try to save some for you! Rio responds more confidently than he really felt. LONGBOWS!!! F#$~ me!!! This is getting ugly fast. Focus all fire on the Longbows! Rio orders as he maneuvers the Eclipse to just that end. Pilot: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Eclipse. See if you can remotely access their systems and turn their air-to-ground batteries toward those Longbows.
OH SHIT!!! The only thought that flashes through Rio's mind as he wrenches the Eclipse into a hard pivot to avoid a collision. Eclipse, Open bay doors. Tek, Zach, as soon as the doors open, start pounding the base. We'll take out the AA-batteries. Gunners, open fire on the AA-Batteries. Don't give'em a chance. Commands issue forth from Rio with an icy calm despite his his heart being in his throat. Rio then comms the rest of the "fleet", Leinder, Sunrunners are planetside, beginninh our assault on the Base. We will do what we can about the AA-Batteries.
Ok, so I get to roll Pilot again due to having an Ace (max on d6). Ace Pilot: 1d6 ⇒ 1 so addint that to the orinal 6 gives me a 7 total for Pilot. Here's the Piloting roll to avoid collision. Pilot: 1d6 ⇒ 6
So anothet Ace Roll, Pilot Ace: 1d6 ⇒ 6 and another Pilot Ace 2: 1d6 ⇒ 2 for a grand total of 14 (6+6+2). That's two raises, whatever that means.
Sunrunners, get ready, we're about to live up to our name. Rio offers in a tone of voice touched with a hint of danger. Eclipse. I need you to calculate a micro-hyperspace jump. I want us to FTL past the defenses to within 200 meters of the base. Initiate it the jump the moment we have a straoght path to the targeted coordinates. Know:Astrogation: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Rio glances at the display, watching the dance of red and blue as he turns the Eclipse toward the base. Pilot: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Hmmm...I can't think of a better way to get the Sunrunners noticed than to try it. However, with the risk, I'ld like to hear from the others to see what they think. I have Know:Astrogation d6, so that should cover being able to at least phrase what I'm looking to do to the AI. I'm not sure how Persuasion would really be applicable.
I had an idea, but not sure if its possible given the nature of FTL in Savage Worlds. Would it be possible, if enough energy was burned, to calculate a microjump hyperspace jump that would put us a few hundred meters from the base, but past all of the planetary defenses. Thinking along the lines of how the Galactica did an FTL jump to save humans that were planetside, then FTLed away in the Edward James Almos series.
