Like Painlord, my tastes in scotch run toward the peaty-side so take that as you will. For those who wish to know my go-to scotchs before I give a recommendation - Lagavulin 16 and Laphroig 10 are a constant at the Flynnstone. I quite enjoy the earthy qualities of the aforementioned scotchs however I know that those are not for everyone. Shieldaig is a new found middle of the road scotch for me. I didn't find it too peaty, oak-y, nor did it overpower everything in sight. In short, I actually think this is quite a good beginner Speyside. On the more experimental side - for my birthday a friend bought me the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban - aged 10 years in American white oak bourbon casks then extra matured in ruby port casks. It is sweet and buttery without being overly so. For those of you who don't like the peat - give this one a go.

Listening to the Know Direction coverage of the banquet and it sounds like Jason was trying to say that there were too many good psychic monsters to include them in Occult Adventures so they WILL be in Bestiary 5. If others could listen to that podcast and confirm that would be great.
Day 1 recap - Woke up at an ungodly hour and began the long trek of the day. I started the first day by heading down to the lobby and playing a short session of the Delve wherein we all died at the hands of Rob McCreary. By all, accounts Kyra (played by the wonderful Char Baker) was the first character death of the convention. I've never participated in a Delve before and I enjoyed every death filled minute. After the Delve I attended my first seminar - Adventure Design 101. The panelists were Crystal Frasier, Rob McCreary, and James Jacobs. The panel was fun and mostly informative. I say mostly because after the various panelists gave their opinions or tips and tricks I usually smacked my head and had an 'er-duh, you knew that' moment. All of the panelists were approachable and energetic which made for an entertaining panel. Next I met up with some yahoo and played in Rob McCreary's "Assault on Redlake Fort." See some yahoo's above post for some of those details. Overall I had a great time playing in Rob's game (well, both of the really). After that game it came time for the PFS Special. Wow. So much fun. Andrew Christian was our GM for the game and he did a fantastic job. Before the game, Thursty came by our table and announced to the whole room that we were the luckiest table because Andrew is such a good GM - and Andrew lived up to that. He rolled with the numerous punches that we threw at him, hammed it up fantastically (ask him about the wonderful halfling lass who stood against the town guards), and provided one of the best role-playing experiences that I've ever had. Char and Dennis Baker just rolled by - Hi gang! The Verdigris and Æthelwulf have just sat down so... I'm off to drink my coffee and chat about the upcoming day. More later.
Greetings all. With a little less than 2 weeks to go, I am starting to get really excited! I wanted to start a thread talking amongst ourselves about what we were thinking about bring into this game as well as asking Rob if there is anything else about character creation that we should take into consideration.
Andi has been a mentor to me, a friend, a GM whose talents are excellent and whose communication skills are unparallelled. I first met Andi right after we were both promoted to Venture-Lieutenant at DunDraCon in February 2013. She was taking charge coordinating the numerous PFS tables at the convention even though she did not volunteer for that job and at that point I knew that she was the type of VL I wanted to emulate. Throughout the years I have become close friends with her, asking for her guidance when I need it, learning tips and tricks to being a better GM as well as a better Venture Officer, and offering the same back to her whenever she might need it. In my opinion, Andi is the best type of person to represent the greater PFS community; a GM who has a great depth of rules knowledge, the ability to tell an enriching story through unique characterizations and clever role-playing, and the aspirations to create a community wherein we introduce the next generation into the hobby that we all love. It is my distinct honor to introduce Andrea Brandt as Northern California's newest 5 Star GM.
Grim - thank you for bringing this to my attention. I was still bleary-eyed when I composed my first response, I am sorry for that. Yes, this week and next week it was requested by the player base that we push the CORE campaign because next weekend is a convention here - ConQuest Sacramento X - and there are scenarios that people want to player there that are outside the beginner tier. However, I will schedule more beginning tier regular campaign PFS games for the upcoming week. Once again, thank you for bringing this to my attention. Might I also suggest that you consider attending the upcoming convention next weekend. We have a huge offering of games of all tiers; most of which are regular campaign. I hope to see you around and I'll PM you telling you when I have an amended schedule posted on the warhorn.
Grim - there are days dedicated to each type of play in Sacramento. Core campaign games are scheduled Sundays at Randy's and Monday afternoons at Great Escape. Thursdays at Great Escape and Saturdays at Randy's are devoted to regular PFS. Check out our schedule at https://warhorn.net/events/sacramento-pfs. It will say CORE before the listing on Warhorn of a Core game and regular pfs will simply appear as scenario.

So it turns out that I am going through some serious things right now that I feel need my full attention and unfortunately I am shirking my duties here to post everyday. I am sorry to disappoint gang but I need to get myself in order and take a step back. I hope that you all understand.
Join me in congratulating Scott Kysh in getting his 5th star! I met Scott for the first time about a year ago and was instantly struck by Scott's passion for Pathfinder Society and his enthusiasm for introducing new players to the joys of Pathfinder Society. Since Scott is an outstanding member of both the Bay Area Pathfinder Society and the Central Valley Pathfinder Society, it was my distinct honor to sit at Scott's qualifying table. Scott tells a rich and engrossing story with wonderful characterizations and a deep field of rules knowledge. He rolls with the unexpected situations, that are bound to come up when a GM has a table of yahoos, with great aplomb. I'd be somewhat remiss if I didn't say that I hope that one day I can be as good of a GM as Scott Kysh! He has done a great job helping build the various communities all over Northern California - from teaching new players at an after-school program in Turlock, to helping out at KulbaCon, to being an excellent example of a great human - he makes my job so much easier. And with that, thank you Scott - for all your hard work and dedication. Congratulations. You've more than earned it.
