well I am hoping to fill Mokhai's role but I don't think I will be able to really take his place.

I think that him leaving will emotional point in the game. even if not selected I would still like to read it.

I may have a second character choice but I will stick with Reggie for now.

Reggie had thought of using fire, but the warning came just in time. the current condition of the ship, we can't risk further damage.

But to be sure that the fire is a bad thing, she tosses the lit torch at the seaweed.

As Reggie was about to rappel down, she hears the yelling, She stops there. Well that is good to know. she says. returning to the main deck.

Reggie tries to get the crew that is available to get the oil barrel near the side of the ship. first lets see if this thing is even affected by fire.

She grabs a belaying pin and dunks one end in the oil. she than looks to find who has a means to light it.

Once lit She will climb down closer to the seweed muck and try to burn some of it.

Reggie immediately moves to assist with the ropes. s she does so, oil, any lamp oil? that will help to keep the stuff burning. she asks as she works with Gahrul to make rappelling ropes.

Sooo I started to read the starfinder rules.

I wonder if there is a way to use the starship combat rules for ocean vessels. If that would be an improvement that is.

Reggie can take a sweep job, but also as sail master or boatswain. actually the sailing master position is actually like the navigator, I think boatswain is more like the one in charge of the rigging as well as maintaining the ship. (kind of like the engineering slot.

for the time being though, Reggie will work the sweeps as she has the strength to do so.

Reggie tries to recall all of her experience regarding storms at sea, looking to position the ship to best handle the weather.

I've no idea on the storm but lets put our seamanship skills to the test.

Once we are clear of the storm, I suggest we head east. Follow the rising sun. there has got to be land somewhere.

Reggie, seeing the sweeps are working well, Reggie moves on to assist with making sails.

If enough sails are made, turning to all that are able or at least look like experienced sea hands.

you lot, with me, up the mast to start running the rigging for this sail.

She tries to teach those that do not seem experienced in such things.

she keeps a weather eye on the growing storm. we may not have much time. we need to take advantage of the wind from the storm.

Reggie tries to help with making the sweeps. she isn't much of a woodworker, but she does help those that are are better at such things.

Reggie soon realizes that her terminology may mean different things to these people.

actually, where I am from, Sweeps is a term used to idendify very large oars that are stored below decks to help propel a ship when there is no wind to fill the sails. many ships do not have them, but they are a common thing on warships, and sometimes pirate vessels.

looking at the fact that the whale is now leaving them alone, Ok, I think we are relatively safe for the moment, I think we will need to figure out how to get supplies. lets see what can be done to get this ship moving again.

Reggie heads to what remains of the hold to see what can be salvaged to make some sort of sail, or even make some oars.

of course while there, she looks over the general condition of the ship. not that she can do any better than what was already done, but maybe some fresh eyes may pick up something missed earlier.

After a quick scan of the water, Reggie turns to greet each that introduced themselves.

We need to make sure this vessel will sail, and do what we can to get underway.

Turning to the one that asked her, Name? I'm Reggie. as far as how I survived? Well apparently the whale spent a larger amount of time near the surface. and in all actuality, I was not on that thing very long.

I'm from a merchant vessel, The Orca. The whale took the ship out rather quickly, I managed to survive and made it to a longboat. the Whale soon went after the longboat and that's when I managed to grab hold of the thing and ride it till here. I did manage to damage it some while we traveled.

At least I think I did.

kind of surprised that none have stepped forward as Captain, the the lizardman's description as to why seemed mostly reasonable.

I do not speak draconic. she says but any further conversation is interrupted as a strange "blue" man with some sort of weapon is interested in protecting the ship from the whale.

Reggie moves to the side of the ship next to the one with the "boomstick"

though she has no idea what it is since you did not tell her yet

Landing on the deck of the ship, covered in undead slime and soaking wet, Reggie removes the towel from her face, wiping what she can from her face in the process.

the woman under the towel is of average appearance. long reddish black hair, a leather trench coat, leather pants and light tunic. she has a sword belt with an empty scabbard.

modled off this character

looking around a bit she finds her slime covered hat lying on the deck. silentkly she picks it up and gives it a fling to get the excess slime off of it. she places it on her head then looks to the people assembled on the deck.

So, who's in charge here she asks glance to the sides of the ship for signs of the undead whale's return.

Reggie had been a crewman aboard the merchant ship, "The Orca" before the "event" the plunged the world into water. At least this was the way she remembered it.

the seas remained calm and there were many surprises to be discovered in this new world or where ever she was now.

then came the whale, the undead whale to more precise. the crew of the Orca took what weapons they had to defend their ship. but their efforts proved useless. the whale ripped the already severely damaged "Orca" to bits.

Reggie managed to jump to a longboat that had bit in the water from earlier investigations. attempting to row away fro the Orca wreckage. the strange whale continued the assault, it moved toward Reggie's little boat.

Alright then, you wanna dance? then bring it on!

As the undead whale plowed through the small boat Reggie managed to grab hold of the beast. ripping pieces of bone hoping she can injure the thing.

but the constant in and out of the sea as the whale swims on proved to make things difficult.

It seemed like hours before the whale made yet another leap.

from the corner of her eye, she notices another ship in the storm. As the whale reaches its closest point to the new ship, she tries to leap toward the ship's deck.

acrobatics to jump: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

did that make a deck landing or into the water?

Reggie goes to take a drink, only to discover her mug empty, having spilled during the tussle. Setting the empty mug back on the table, somewhat content that she isn't going to charged for damages. Well at least she hopes not.

They are not friends. jus some sore losers that bet on the wrong pers.... I mean, they made some bad bets, that's all

Anyway, I'm looking for a ship, not any particular ship, just one that could use an extra hand. doesn't need to be going anywhere special, as long as its leaving here.

Once the ruffians are gone, Reggie sits back down to finish her meal.

She takes stock of the tavern to see what damage she may have caused. but she realizes they really didn't cause too much damage.

she doesn't say much, actually hoping nobody asks what that was all about.

At Kuzu, threat she lets a short dramatic pause and the makes a sudden jerk like she is about to jump him, Boo!

Reggie remain still with the knife to the throat. she was not too worried about it as she believed the gutless swine would be to chicken to actually carry through with the threat.

and she realized it when he suddenly dropped the knife. Reggie's response, she elbows the thug in the face
