  • If you're playing ranged then why invest in Cavalier's Charge?
  • It seems weird that your first level bonus feat is a choice between two feats.
  • Woodsman's skills seems out of place. If it were me I'd consider trying to boost Ride instead of Handle Animal.
  • I think you should look at the possibility of picking up some Hunter abilities to boost your companion.
  • I think your class lacks a big damage booster. Alchemical Weapon is ok, but it doesn't come online for a while. Something like Studied Target or the Divine Marksman's Vicious Aim + Favored Enemy

Also, have you considered how your character may play when you're in a dungeon or somewhere else where flight is restricted?

  • Here's a submission. Comment/criticism welcomed.

    Bio:
Jak "Red Jaw" Cross grew up fast and mean in the western quarter of the world. He ain't that strong and he certainly won't be winning any drinking games in the foreseeable future. What's he's got is a crap-ton of moxie and the gumption to keep making stupid decisions. That's what makes him a great mercenary. It doesn't matter if the pay is dirt, the terms are bad, or if the work is down right suicidal - he'll take the job. He doesn't do it for the money (as long as he's got the cash to put down for the next run, it doesn't matter what he makes). Jak is an adrenaline junkie, pure and simple. He's addicted to the battlefield and all of its blood soaked glories. There's only one other thing he cares about even half as much: his beloved pet warmachine. The "Seriously Armored Motherf$##er" (or SAM, for short) is a massive metal fighting machine that Jak has managed to cobble together over the years. In less polite company he calls it "Violator" - and for good reason. Equipped with a high-powered automatic rifle and indirect mortar launching system, SAM has been specifically tooled for frontline shock-and-awe operations. Jak loves nothing more than crashing through the enemy lines and scattering them with a mix of precision fire support and augmented strength while watching as counterattacks are deflected harmlessly by SAMs slopped armor plating. Being in the suit makes Jak bigger, better, stronger, and dammit he just doesn't feel right outside of it!

    Robot Slammer Class Summary:
Slammers are fascinated by robotics and related technology; many to the point of obsession. They constantly keep an eye and ear out for the latest developments and innovations, as well as upgrades, modifications of old systems, new perspectives and the concepts behind them. To them, robots are both familiar and wondrous at the same time. Mechanical constructs whose designs and functions are well known and memorized to the most minute detail, yet remain exciting, invigorating, and desirable. It is the Robot Slammers' daring devotion and knowledge of robotics that give them their unique "insight" and an edge in combat. Most can anticipate and out think robot constructs with artificial intelligence and take advantage of the strengths and weaknesses of robot vehicles and power armor. The depth of their study and hands-on filed experience also gives the a feel for military strategy and tactics involving robots and power armour that is (arguably) unsurpassed.

d8 Hit Die, Full BAB, Good Will Save, 6 + INT modifier skill ranks per level.
Class Skills: Bluff, Craft, Diplomacy, Fly, Intimidate, Knowledge (Dungeoneering), Knowledge (Engineering), Knowledge (Local), Perception, Profession, Ride, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Survival, Use Magic Device
Proficient in: light machinegun, machinegun, flamethrower, mortar, revolver, double-barreled shotgun, bastard sword, spiked chain, whip, greatsword, earthbreaker, longsword, battleaxe, short sword, dagger. The Robot Slammer is not proficient in armor or shields.

1st level abilities - Eidolon/Fuse Eidolon (Synthesist Summoner), Stern Gaze, Monster Lore, Track (Inquisitor)
2nd level abilities - Monk Physical Package (Flurry of Maneuvers, Unarmed Strike, Devoted Guardian, AC Bonus) (Monk/Maneuver Master/Sohei), Eidolon Evasion (Synthesist)
3rd level abilities - Aura of Cowardice (Antipaladin), Trench Warefare (Trench Fighter), Naked Courage (Savage Barbarian)

*A note on the Eidolon. The original document prices the Eidolon class feature assuming the standard set-up where it improves the Summoner's action economy. This is not the case for a Synthesist Summoner, as the two creatures share actions.

    Submission updated

Alright, here is the submission for Johnnycat. Bushi Warlord 4

    Nation you are from Razeria
Your thoughts of your home nation Resentment. Jak was born a slave and stayed one until well into his adolescence. It is difficult for him to put aside feelings toward the ruling class, mages especially.
Your characters thoughts on the other nations/races before the great war Not much; a serf in Razeria means that you're the lowest of the low. Everyone starts to look the same from down there.
Your characters thoughts on them now He appreciates the more light-hearted races, halflings and humans especially with their leanings toward personal freedoms.
What your character did before Spent most of his early life as a slave, though was eventually freed. From there he worked as a sell sword of sorts, traveling here and there and offering his services as a warrior.
How/why your character has come to the States of Oswell Jaks a mercenary; he goes where there's money to be made.
personality summary Jak is driven by his want to remain in control of his own destiny. To his friends and comrades he is strongly devoted. He is enemies are shown respect, but are otherwise given no quarter. Most others are treated on a case-by-case business.
Summary of your past A former slave, hailing from the north by his appearance.
Goals, what does you character want to accomplish Jak has no larger goals for the world at large. Rather, he'd like to ride out the war and see the nations come out the otherside relatively intact. While he does recognize the benefit of government, the aftermath of a war would serve as an excellent platform to change some things for the better (such as Razeria's policy of enslavement).
What drives you Jak is driven by his want to remain in control of his own destiny. To his friends and comrades he is strongly devoted. He is enemies are shown respect, but are otherwise given no quarter. Most others are treated on a case-by-case business.
    Virtue diligence
    Sin wrath

Loyalty, Compassion, Teaching, Love, Free Thinking, Pride, Group

Do unto other as you would have done to you; this is the only measure of right and wrong.

Final question: strive for another solution. Jak refuses to accept an impossible choice as impossible. The only time you truly lose is when you refuse to act.

Any feedback/commentary/criticism is welcome and appreciated.

Hey guys, it looks like the circumstances have changed and I'll have to bow out.

    Good luck with the game!

Jack opts to take the slide downwards.

Can't say I've ever really agreed with that line of thought.

Anyways, we've kind of ended up in ambiguous positions which is why I took the opportunity to bring up my thoughts now before heading off again.

Unless there are any serious objections I'm going to keep scouting ahead of the group.

In that light it would be best if we made an effort to explore separate areas, to cover the most ground possible in our search for an escape.

By the time the rest of the group has arrived Jak would have headed in through the steel entrance.

The prospects of commandeering a new transport were slim, by the looks of things, but Jak held out hope!

Jack smiles at the thought of crossing the gap. Quickly he sets to the challenge of crossing the pipes and railings, moving with both grace and speed. Before he moves too far away he turns his attention to Ebran. "Will you be alright gettin' across, mate?"

    Acrobatics: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (8) + 22 = 30

He hums along with the chirping of his stone as he goes.

Curious, Jak prods at the singing stone. If it seems harmless enough he'll pick it up.

"A nice souvenir..." he mutters to himself as he attempts to silence the stone before pocketing it.

After he'll do a quick search of the residence, curious to get a sense of who may have lived here before.

Otherwise, if nothing else happens to prolong his stay, he'll head back out to the road and carry on.

Jak continues to track down the sound, hugging keeping his back from being exposed as much as possible.

    Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

    Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19

Curiosity gets the better of Jak and he carefully navigates the broken street to investigate the sound.

    Acrobatics if necessary: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (9) + 22 = 31

    Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

    Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34

It is necessary to restate the two groups are still separated at this time.

Jak is in the urban area right now, ahead of the rest, Ebran is as well if he has followed along this far.

According to my reading, the rest of the pirates have just passed the door and are in the intermediate hallway.

Jak and Ebran are the only two hearing the beeping noise coming from the urban area.

Sunny would not be able to react at this time.

If I am wrong please feel free to correct me. Otherwise I am going to assume the above information is correct.

Jak opts to take the lower of the two roads, heading for the urban area.

Jak heads towards the westward buildings, hoping that the buildings will take him on a path towards the navy ship.

Jak watches the procession of his fellow crew members as they move about the greenhouse. The crash had still left them disoriented, by the looks of things. It didn't help that the Captain hadn't made it (probably).

Jak scratches his chin. He was certainly no help right now

Perhaps...the navy ship fared better he muses, with any luck we could hijack it and ride it out of here!

With a smile he decides on his course of action. Surely the crew wouldn't mind if he slipped out for a few minutes, and surely they would appreciate having a functioning vessel!

Silently Jak takes his leave, heading through the door and down the passageway and into whatever lies beyond, all the while his head full of visions of coming glory. Single-handedly capturing a ship! They would sing his praises for weeks, no doubt!

I'm still here and following along, but I usually don't post unless I have something constructive to add. As for Jak himself, he follows along until someone on the crew gives him an order otherwise.

That being said, I have no business in this greenhouse and am ready to move on.

Someone tell Garaund tell help Sunny with the bird.

Jak eventually drags himself out of the wreckage, only to sit down in favor of letting the crew make a decision. He offers a simple shrug to Garaud while he watches the procession.

Jak hangs upside down from a broken mast, his boot caught up in a tangled mess of rigging. Things had suddenly become quite complicated for the half-orc. They had crashed in god-knows-where and between the smoldering wreckage and billowing winds, he wasn't finding out any time soon (not to mention he was still caught head over heels, figuratively speaking).

Nothing a enterprising scoundrel of his stature couldn't handle! He quickly pulls himself into a position where he can reach the rigging. From there a swift cut from his side sword is all takes to free him from his heavenly bonds, though with the unfortunate side-effect of promptly depositing him to the ground below. Now lying on the ground he can hear a voice calling faintly across the crash sight.

"Here!" he shouts "I'm right over here! I'll just be a moment while- while I get reacquainted with meself."

Are we still splitting up? I wouldn't mind being in a two-man group if you wanted to keep the other one at 4.

LN pirate type; I just kind of do what I'm told.

Who're we still missing? Brill, Stephen Rogerson, and Dunstan?

Speaking of, Ebran brings up a fairly good point. Does anyone have any particular preference for what kind of crew we were?

I was leaning towards pirate, myself.

    Jak here, reporting in!

A former slave rescued by the crew, hailing from the far north by his appearance. Just before the crash he had attempted a boarding maneuver and was ultimately left hanging by the rigging as their ship crash landed.

Character sheet should be all ready to go. Let me know if anything needs adjusting!

Howdy folks, I'm happy to reinstate my submission for consideration!

Red Jaw Jak, Half-Orc Bushi Warlord (with a bias towards the sky pirate side of things if I make it that far).
