Chapter I: Where in Blue Blazes Are We
It was like a sign from god. It doesn't matter which one. People below swore it was a shooting star, or a descending angel.
The reality?
A badly damaged pirate/privateer airship (depending on your outlook and willingness to commit to your profession) fell like a flaming rock directly into a floating city at the heart of a storm.
Even bards couldn't make things like this up.
As the crew of the Belladonna Pixie prayed (again to which god doesn't matter), screamed, cried, wept or completely ignored the impending disaster, they were at least content in the thought that their opponent, the tremendous sky-galleon known as the Seventh Sea was suffering a same fate. Hopefully a worse one.
Contact with the ground was like receiving a boulder composed of rock, masonry and cobblestone to the face at around a nice 200 km/h. That's no metaphor, that's actually what it felt like. Any of the crew not praying immediately did so. Though not to a god, but to the airship's gravitational absorbers. No chance they would ever be functional again, but hopefully, they wouldn't be falling out of the sky a second time today.
The wreckage was great, the ship sprayed across the local area.
From wherever our protagonists lay, rested or were buried, they all began to hear a shouting not too far away.
"Ahoy! Anyone still breathin' follow my voice! Ahoy!"
I have gone with lighthearted, sarcastic sort of narration for this adventure. I feel it fits our theme and makes more a change of pace from my Lovecraftian narration on my other game. Cheers and fair fortune!
Red Jaw Jak
Jak hangs upside down from a broken mast, his boot caught up in a tangled mess of rigging. Things had suddenly become quite complicated for the half-orc. They had crashed in god-knows-where and between the smoldering wreckage and billowing winds, he wasn't finding out any time soon (not to mention he was still caught head over heels, figuratively speaking).
Nothing a enterprising scoundrel of his stature couldn't handle! He quickly pulls himself into a position where he can reach the rigging. From there a swift cut from his side sword is all takes to free him from his heavenly bonds, though with the unfortunate side-effect of promptly depositing him to the ground below. Now lying on the ground he can hear a voice calling faintly across the crash sight.
"Here!" he shouts "I'm right over here! I'll just be a moment while- while I get reacquainted with meself."
Ebran "Stormlord"
Moments before impact, Ebran shifts his focus from trying to slow the descent of their vessel to his own survival. With a sweeping gesture and a roaring gust of wind, Ebran is blown off the quarterdeck of the ship in a trajectory perpendicular to the ground, where he eventually slows and stabilizes inches off the ground. When he hears the voice, he slowly floats in its direction. As he does, he scans the area for more survivors.
Ayedan Slipstream
Ayeden has the best view of the mess about to happen sitting up in the crows nest. He watches the ships as the both descend through the clouds and down toward the ground. Seconds before his ship hits the ground, he leaps from the crow's nest in a swan dive but doesn't fall like he should. He floats down like a feather, saying this way and that. He immediately starts to pick through the rubble looking for survivors.
Upon hearing the voice, he works his way in it's direction and calls back "Ayedan here! I'll work my way towards you."
:Sunny:
With the thunder of gun-fire still ringing in her pointed ears, the lithe tanned form of Sunny struggled against the heaving bucking deck as the Belladonna Pixie succumbed to the wounds inflicted after the encounter with the enemy ship.
*Chauncy! Go to get them free!* Are all the thoughts in her blond mopped head even as she caroms off door frames and tumbles down gang-ways, the Pixie's timbers groaning and burning around her.
With soothing words Sunny reaches the space created/set aside for her large, feathered companion and trusty mount. Fighting against turmoil, the she manages to clear the stockade's barrier -Something to delineate 'Chauncy space' from that of crew- the roiling deck tumbling Sunny into the feathered form of her Griffon companion.
"Oooof!"
Ebran "Stormlord"
Seeing others from his crew have survived the fall, Ebran floats over to Ayedan and looks around.
"Find anyone else?"
Unit_6
Unit 6 stopped as they ship impacted, his internals told him the stress was 200 km/h, then he looked at one ones on the the airship's gravitational absorbers as ALL the dials hit red at once
I this is not going to be...
Thats when the absorber broke and the whole ship became a tin can being crushed.

=====Rebooting, emergence repair systems online====
Looked the text in it ocular systems. There where lines and fizzy spots then its Mind came on line.
Well I am still functioning and its seems self repairing, this is good, not if only I could move and see
It waited until its repair systems where done and a little green light come on to the bottom left of its vision. It turned on its head lamp. Metal, lost off it, twisted all around it. Some of it it knew well, parts of the ships main power unit now smashed to bits.
Well no point trying to fix it now, best cut my way out
From the outside of the wreckage a scintillating arch of bright red laser light shot out from inside it, it moved in a slow methodical way, marking a circle, Then winked out. There was a clang sound as a the plug of twisted metal it can cut went up then down on to the floor.
Unit 6 Then pocked its head out, then with some work pulled itself out off the mess around it.
Standing up it could hear some one calling.
O good sounds like some of the organics lived, best go see if they are all well and not in need of fixing.
It makes it's way to the voices it can here.
"Hello, is any one in need of mending?"
Stephen Rogerson
|
Stephen is thrown forward of the bow as the ship impacts the island. He does his best to tuck and roll, but mostly just ends up sliding gracelessly along the ground on his shield. He doesn't seem injured, and the other ship doesn't seem to be in sight. Checking his immediate surroundings for any threats, he makes his way towards the voice.
People were not meant to fly.
Unit_6
Sees Stephen and levitates down to him,
"Hello Master Stephen are you armed in any way?"
Ebran "Stormlord"
"Alright, let's do it. But be wary, the voice could be the enemy. We didn't see where they fell."
Unit_6
Stops for a moment then shakes itself.=, its eyes wink on and off.
"Harmed Stephen Rogerson are you harmed, I am sorry I did suffer some dm..dam..Damage in the crash, My systems are still rebooting, Sir I here others calling, shall we go that way if you are able"
Sentinel of the Sky
As you converge on the voice, you find that it's one of the members of your crew, a young lad by the name of Garaud.
As you gather around him he breathes a sigh of relief.
"Oh god be blessed, most of you made it. The Seventh Sea seems to have crashed not too far from here and if most of us are fine, chances are they will too."
He gazes around.
You all noticed that your ship seems to have crashed through a glass roof of some kind and you seem to be in either an inner courtyard, garden or perhaps even a greenhouse.
"Anyone know where we might be? Hmmm figures."
He looks at you all.
"So what's the plan bosses? We lying low or moving out?"
:Sunny:
Awareness returns slowly....
Uncomfortable... smell of smoke and burning.... Sounds of metal, settling, shifting.
*Chauncy!* Blue eyes flash open to be met by gloom as light filters and flickers through the space Sunny finds herself now in.
Slowly she looks around taking in the changes that have happened since she was last struggling to make it through the below decks corridors to her friend.
As she begins to work herself upright, words from Nitssix return. Some explanations about 'Crumple zones' and 'Crash cell'. Things Sunny was only partly paying attention too as she paced out the space her companion would need to be housed 'comfortably' within the steel and wood hull of their new home.
Her eyes begin to work through outlines... making sense of the changes that have over come the shapes she'd been used to looking at. Wriggling upright her gaze picks out the large bundle that is her friend. Curled into a ball of fur and feathers, further compressed by the bedding that's wrapped itself around the gryphon's form.
Creeping closer, being careful of the sharp edges created all around by the twisted metal, she smiles with relief. The image is of a nest. A plush cocoon enveloping Chauncy.
As an eye opens to regard her, Sunny coo's quietly, offering soft sounds and reassuring gestures as she begins to try working out how to get her large, feathered friend out of their current space and thence out of the jumble of metal and trash their former ship has become......
Unit_6
While the others are talking, Looks around at their location, Its eyes glowing and a red laser range finder scanning the local building. After a time Unit 6 chimes in.
Kn Eng Take 20+7Skill = 27
"Sirs, I do believe we have crashed in some kind of building complex, what is odd is that it has been constructed for protection from the weather and from high altitude. A kind of enclosed environmental habitat. I surmise we are not on the ground but still at some high. Possibly on the top of an very very high tower or even on another aircraft of some kind, a very large one by my calculations, looking at the area and wights of things around us. Fascinating construction, I would love to see the design plans and find out who made it."
It carrys on after this looking some more at there surroundings.
Ebran "Stormlord"
"I could fly around and take a peek. Or has anyone discovered an exit other than 'up'?"
Ayedan Slipstream
Ayedan cautiously looks around, trying to keep to the shadows and speaks up, "Has anyone seen signs of people? It looks like we crashed into someones expensive home and they are not going to be happy!"
Unit_6
Unit 6 lifted up into the air, elevating up some 60 foot and so as to get an overview.
Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
"I'll see what I can see Sirs"
Sentinel of the Sky

Perception 1d20+10"I'll see what I can see Sirs"
You're way up at the ceiling at this point. Your eyes notice that the room is about the size of your crashed ship.
The tip of what used to be the Pixie lies embedded in the northern wall while the tail end is smashed up against the southern wall, albeit a good 20 ft. off the ground.
The ship itself is smashes at an odd, tilted angle, having dropped diagonally through the roof.
Said roof appears to be made of some form of glass.
The rest of the room's contents appear to be plants and trees albeit not ones you seem to recognize.
Amid the rubble, you can faintly spy a large metallic door on the eastern side of the circular room.
Smoke and debris cloud the remainder of this chamber.
Stephen Rogerson
|
"Don't go flying around. We don't know what's out there. Could be snipers. We don't know what's in here, for that matter. Let's worry about our immediate surrounding first." Stephen looks towards the wreckage. "That's not gonna...explode, is it?"
Unit_6
Coming back down.
"No sir, I believe it will not do that, but it may burn for a while. It is better that I get shot at sir than you. I can see no other form of life than plant life, this seems to be an enclosed arboretum and botanical garden Sir. Our ex-craft smashed thow the windows above and, well is broken here. Amid the rubble, Sir I did faintly spy a large metallic door on the eastern side of this circular room."
Landing back in the same place it then starts walking that way to the door.
"I believe we could open the door to explore more"
It seems to not really care about snipers as such.
Ebran "Stormlord"
"Alright, sounds like door it is."
Ebran slowly floats in the direction of the door, allowing others to go before himself.
Ayedan Slipstream
Ayedan sprints to the front of the group, "Let me take the lead and stay behind me. I can make it hard to see me and look for dangerous things."
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
Unit_6
"Sir do you think that is wise, much better anything attack me then you will know where and what.. O where did he go?"
Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Spotting Ayedan sipping ahead between the undergrowth.
"Arr Sir, as I was saying, would it not be test I walk ahead, you would all be much safer"
Waits but has a feeling its words will not be heeded.
Shrugs and carry's on walking.
:Sunny:
Suny continues to work her friend free from within the damaged confines of her former ship.
Unit_6
"Please give me a moment and I will have this open."
Looks the door over then Grabs/cuts/melts/moves it so that the others can get past and into the Hall way of glass.
Kn Eng 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Ebran "Stormlord"
Ebran will call winds blowing at them from the hall of glass, to blow any pieces that may fall off such that they don't break the glass.
is the floor of the hall glass as well, or just the walls and ceiling?

Just the walls and ceiling. The floor is stone, some kind of marble as far as you can tell.
Also, Unit_6, how are you cutting through the door?
Ebran "Stormlord"
Oh, and I should ask. Is the other side of the glass open air? open sky? or some more plants? or something else? Can we estimate how long (roughly) the hall is? Looking through the glass, can we see downward?
Unit_6
Unit six has a Adamantine short sword built into its arm as a cutting tool GM.
Unit 6's arm flips out a sharp looking blade that cuts at the hinges letting it fall down from its frame.

I don't believe I've ever heard of that item. The "cutting blade" that is.
Ebran: The passage is like the room. About 60 ft of simple glass walls and ceiling with marble flooring. The light seems to be natural light. Through the glass you can see sky and clouds.
Ebran "Stormlord"
ah, so it is a skyway, such as you would find between two skyscrapers? basically, Ebran would look downward out the side windows as best he could to see if we are really attached to towers or in a cloud or on a larger airship or something.
:Sunny:
After a long crawl, lots of scurrying. Some heaving and lifting. Some more crawling and scurrying. Sunny emerges into the light of day. Standing and wiping a grime covered arm across her fore head she looks about.
*Here.. that isn't right* She thinks as the looks up thought the curling smoke of the crashed ship.
*The sky shouldn't have rafters...* She looks about and down noting the terrain even as a large, furred form crawls sinuously out of the space she's emerged from....
:Sunny:
(>_<)
Sunny gently rubs her ears even as she pads over and starts sorting out her feathered/furred companions,
"Aye, ye's all mussed up an' ye's all in'a lather an' all..." The tanned Elf coos to the large, powerful gryphon.
"STAY!" She orders the creature, to which the gryphon plonks its;ef down on something flat, it's large predator eyes showing its displeasure though it obeys. Gently scritching the beast behind it's ears she continues,
"Ye jus' wait here an' I be gettin' stuffs, okeys?" She explains, though her voice continues to be soothing, before turning, skipping over to the hole and disappearing back into the wreck.
(^_^)
Unit_6
All blades are cutting blades, Units 6 has an Adamantine built in blade is all. As one of its built in tools it uses to cut things like this when working. It has other built in tools as listed under its items like a travelers any tool, a cutting laser [its only weapon, not that it would use it as the 3 laws of robotics stop it from harming intelligent organics] it also has a tool shirt etc. The idea being its a repair robot.
Adamantine ignores hardness 20 so its ideal for that use, may take some time but if the metal is not that hard the blade should cut it.
Stands aside and looks back the way they came.
"Did you hear that, I thought I heard a "*SKRAW!*" sound from behind us"
Ebran "Stormlord"
"Yes, one of our crewmates has an avian mount. You may not have seen it flying around, as you spent a majority of your time belowdecks, but I believe it did have a cage down there somewhere."
Unit_6
"O dear they could be trapped, I must go and help"
With that he heads off to help sunny.
Sentinel of the Sky
We seem to have a lull in posting from the group (besides Ebran, Suny and Unit 6). I imagine that Brill and Dunstan dropped since they never posted in discussion, but just checking in with Red Jaw and Stephen. I usually aim for 1 post/24 hours. If you're short on time, even a simple one liner to keep the adventure moving and you present works for me.
Let me know when we're ready to move past this first room. The wreck seems stable if albeit destroyed and as mentioned, this is a one-shot, you'll mainly be adventuring around this location, exploring the passages and hallways as well as fighting whatever creatures still live here. Keep me posted amigos.
Red Jaw Jak
Jak watches the procession of his fellow crew members as they move about the greenhouse. The crash had still left them disoriented, by the looks of things. It didn't help that the Captain hadn't made it (probably).
Jak scratches his chin. He was certainly no help right now
Perhaps...the navy ship fared better he muses, with any luck we could hijack it and ride it out of here!
With a smile he decides on his course of action. Surely the crew wouldn't mind if he slipped out for a few minutes, and surely they would appreciate having a functioning vessel!
Silently Jak takes his leave, heading through the door and down the passageway and into whatever lies beyond, all the while his head full of visions of coming glory. Single-handedly capturing a ship! They would sing his praises for weeks, no doubt!
