Alexei can hear the distant sloshing of water and a low, muscular howl. The hole itself drops further down than a simple light source will show him.

K. Nature DC 18:
It's hard to be sure, but that howl could be a bunyip - a magical creature that is a cross between a seal and a shark. They like to congregate around shores, shallows and sea caves. They are very dangerous predators.

The thistle tunnel opens into a large cavelike chamber. Above, the thorny canopy grows thin enough that tiny slivers of the sky above can be see, while below, the ground consists of trampled dirt. To the west, the distant sound of sloshing waves echo up from a hole.

Area C2

The 4-foot high tunnel winds through the dense briars and nettles. The floor is hard-packed earth, with patches of wiry plants growing stubbornly here and there. While the ceilings and tunnels consist of tangled, thorny vines.

Even Beromar must stoop low and move cautiously in order to avoid being shredded by the hideously sharp spines. He comes across 3 branching tunnels.

Survival DC 12:
A large object was recently dragged along the tunnel to the right.

After a minute, Viroleth joins Beromar.

Kwin, you have Ubashki Fever. But you won't suffer negative effects for 1d3 ⇒ 3 days. A creature afflicted by ubashki fever develops unsightly splotches and sores all over its body that persist until the disease is cured. You can make your first cure save tomorrow. But feel free to role play it up as you start to get sick. ;-)

A series of vicious attacks from the Band is enough to drastically reduce the numbers of the Ubashki. Despite this the remainng cats seem eager to continue fighting but are cowed by Koshukhep's growl.

The few remaining cats disperse and run past the Band to exit the tomb.

He turns to walk out, but Ameiko, stops him dead in his tracks by saying, "Sheriff, do please be a dear and tell Kaye I won't be able to make it to the poker game this week."

The Sheriff stiffens as he says, "I am not your courier."

"Of course, I only meant if you should happen to run into her," she said with a playful smirk and a wink.

The Sheriff says nothing as he walks out.

The Sheriff's face twists into a disgusted grimace.

"No. The authorities in Magnimar were -- sympathetic," he says, spitting out the last word. "But they said they could not spare any guards for a few weeks. In short, we are on our own."

"I have spoken to the mayor already. She has informed me of your plan to defeat Nualia and her Goblins at Thistletop. If I had the guards to spare, I would send them with you or go myself. But -- my hands are tied."

Ameiko came in with a large mug of water, and the Sheriff drank it down in a single heft.

"What I can do is pay you for your troubles." The sheriff pulls out a hefty sack from his belt and drops it heavily on the table. The familiar clink of coins is unmistakable. "For your actions in town while I was gone. And for your expedition tomorrow."

The bag contains 500gp.

Djehuti recognizes the bronze urns as the type used by priests during mummification. They are made of brass and probably weigh about 200 pounds each. But they are devoid of any symbols. In fact this room itself seems a bit unfinished.

The room is unfortunately devoid of any valuables. And so the Heroes descend further down the crypt, taking the southern staircase.

Perception DC 25:
A rather ingenious trap is built into this staircase. The trigger is at the top step, but the trap is set at the bottom. Meaning it would hit a would be thief as they left the tomb. Spikes would emerge from the walls at the top of the stairs, trapping the thieves in the tomb.

Been waiting for this. It's 600xp for the sinspawn and another 1,200xp for deactivating the well. That's 360xp for each player, bringing every one to 3,494xp. Congrats everyone, we are all now level 3.

Emboldened by the heat of her mate, Suri attacks the Adherer with her claws. But this time, they find purchase and rip the beast's neck to tatters. It gurgles and moans and then slides slowly down the wall - dead.

End of combat. Whew! That was a rough one. Take a moment to celebrate.

Loges senses magic comimg from the entire room. But he focuses on the wand and feels the familiar tingle of evocation magic. He studies the aura for a moment and concludes it is ripe with lightning magic.

I misread the map. I didn't realize that was an elevated position. Okay, so bit of a retcon...

The two sinspawn moved to either end of the platform stairs, and attacked.

If someone could move the two sinspawn, I'd be super appreciative. Believe it or not, I'm working today and can't get to my PC just yet. Their movement is 40 so they should be able to get into position without much fuss.

Because of the flub, I'm declaring a miss on Viroleth.

Yeesh. The DC should have been 15 not 25. I wonder if that was my phone doing a weird auto-correct, or was that just a brain fart?

Izra and Djehuti discover the remnants of guard uniforms on the corpses and theorize that they are the source of the haunt. They believe that giving them a respectful burial should let them rest.

Alexei finds a flight of stairs that leads to another door. He goes through this door as well, but only to find a circular stairwell that leads up and up. But the way forward is blocked by rubble. Narrow fissures provide air, which proves that this stairway must eventually lead to the surface somehow.

There are in fact, two haunts.

Djehuti figures out that in order to destroy the haunt on the gate, the gate itself must be sprinkled with holy water, repaired and secured.

Craft metalworking DC 25, disable device DC 25, or the make whole spell.

Haunt of the Foyer, K. Religion DC 25:
The skeletons in the Foyer require a proper burial.

The slammed doors function like Hold Portal. So a dispel or knock spell, could get it open. Brute strength won't unless you want to physically destroy the door.
