Rahm, favoring structure over chaos always, will grudgingly recommend the Copal be allowed into the Pact Worlds as a protectorate, with the hope that exposure to the varied elements of the Pact will engender a more cosmopolitan attitude among the copi.

He spends much of the trip back with Less Than Three, communicating the struggles and successes of the Pact World androids and the SRO to the AI.

I think this was the last area. I guess we head back to the scientists now?

Considering the issue of whether they are bringing Less Than Three back with them settled, Rahm finds himself in a rare moment of agreement with Integrity. Not waiting, he simply proceeds further in.

Rahm is visibly agitated by this news, but seems to be maintaining control for the moment. He says "Of course we are taking Less Than Three with us."

He then turns to Thersies and says "It would seem this is a rather glaring contradiction to the history you have provided us."

Shocked but pleased, Rahm says "Ask them what happened here." There is a clear tension coming off the stoic android.

Rahm nods as the crab monster goes down, but then he takes in the scene in the rest of the room. His voice flat, he says "Can someone explain what we are seeing here?

Engineering: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Rahm continues to lash at the crab-thing, carving off parts of its shell with his weapon.

Acid Lash attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 damage: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

Rahm takes the presence of the big creature in stride. They knew there would be some danger here. Closing with the beast he draws his lash again and attacks.

As he does so he calls out "can anyone tell me anything about this foe?"

Rahm is more focused on the potential danger than interesting engineering, and he moves up to take point between the chamber they are in and the space beyond.

"Fascinating" Rahm remarks, learning about the game and the copaxi's innate gravitational abilities. Focused on the mission still, he adds "Let us proceed to area 5 now."

By my count that should get us three straight successes.

Going to need a few more assists on that third check

Rahm stretches briefly, then attempts to navigate the shifting gravity fields of the arena.

First the Official story:

The copaxis are a terrestrial species numbering two billion, and their petition claims they have a unified government and a peaceful history.

From one of the scientists:

In our past, copaxi used to live in floating cities. We now believe the ancient magic that lifted the cities from the surface was the same magic that led to the downfall of the divergent copaxis; they were punished by divine intervention for becoming over-reliant on magic.

And finally from Therseis

Tabrid Minor’s unifying government arose after the Gap. The government has undergone numerous natural and peaceful transitions of power in the past few centuries. The flying cities were home to copaxis who ruled before the Gap. They defied the natural order and were destroyed in an act of divine wrath. Surface city-states arose from the ashes, and the unifying government brought them together decades later."
"What you are seeing here is likely when the copaxi created robots to assist in the construction of great cities. However, a gravitational fluctuation scrambled the robots’ computers, and they recklessly began attacking copaxis and destroying property. Ongoing robotic research—particularly that approaching simulated intelligence—takes place in controlled labs to minimize any destructive potential. The Signal, the god Triune’s instructions for using the Drift, reached Tabrid Minor, but its people could not understand it. They recorded the cryptic information, and only recently did copaxi technology allow them to create viable starships.

It seems like the Copaxi story isn't matching up with what we've found so far.

Rahm's expression remains impassive, but internally he is starting to form grave doubts about Thersies's version of his people's history. Putting that aside for the moment, he says "Let's proceed to site 6 then."

Rahm looks to Integrity and Therseis to see how they react to this solicitation for a bribe.

Rahm eyes these strangers with caution, but holds his hands out from his sides away from his weapons, waiting to see what happens next.

Does Therseis's story seem to match what we've learned so far? How old does this stuff seem?

Rahm replies "Thank you Therseis. I apologize for having to deface the dead here."

Turning to Elwin he says "Perhaps site 7 next, then 6 beyond that?"

Turning to Therseis, Rahm says "Can you tell us more about what we are seeing here? With just the context of this place it would seem that some kind of civil war happened."

Can we ask our guide about our findings?

Rahm puzzles over the flowers and remarks “These might be unique to this floating city”

Rahm lays all about with his acidic lash

Attack remaining foe lash attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 damage: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

Stepping forward, Rahm draws a glowing green lash from his quick draw sheath and swings it at the one designated red.

Rahm will move 20ft up to place himself between the others and the undead

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Doing his best to ignore Integrity, Rahm passes a keen eye over this new area. He notes what information is present, and says "Some kind of school then? Let us move on."

Agreed with the above. Let's move on to the next area.

Engineering check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Puzzled by the lack of technological elements in the flying vehicle, Rahm agrees with Elwin and Jeen, adding "It is strange to see these remnants of a magically gifted society with no obvious casters in the Copaxis that we have met so far. Perhaps we should ask Therseis about his people's traditions and what presaged their turn away from the arcane to technological solutions?"

I'm inclined to keep our guide with us.

Rahm nods in agreement with Jeen. A sound plan. He says "Let's head to area 3 then."

Rahm nods and says "Agreed." He is ready to head to the next location on the map.

Rahm tried to keep a watchful eye out.

Rahm takes the lead, just in case the assurances of safety turn out to have been more aspirational than true. He knows he doesn't have the skills to do much analysis here, so being on guard is his best contribution to their success.

Ready to hit location 1 if the others are.

Rahm, concerned about safety foremost, says "Let's proceed to the safe locals first, so that we have a chance to better recognizes each other's strengths before possible danger."

He is ready to get to it.

Rahm takes the opportunity to feel Therseis's antlers. He remains expressionless, but notes the texture. Turning to the others, he waits, ready to proceed with the mission whenever they are.

Rahm, oblivious to Bryansis's discomfort, replies "It's a descriptive term, describing a general body shape - upright standing with a few legs, some arms with hands, and a head equivalent. Both you and I would be humanoid. Not that a creature has to be shaped that way to be sentient, there are many members of the Pact Worlds who look nothing like that. Barathu, for instance, are semi-amorphous floating colonies of cells able to change their DNA to adapt to any situation." He continues to describe various races of the Pact Worlds, not noticing the lack of reciprocity.

Rahm replies to the scientist "In truth, many of the biological based lifeforms have very similar forms. In this instance I believe both share some or all the genetic makeup of a race known as 'Elves'. Extremely long lived humanoids, though they can't match an android such as myself for longevity. Apparently they are close enough biologically to intermingle with a race known as 'humans', which must have a very welcoming genetic structure, as they seem to possess the singular ability to mate with a shocking number of other species. I am continually surprised by it."

He counters "But what of the copaxis. Are you the only sentient species on the planet? What can you tell me about your people?"

Rahm, a creature of his word through and through, replies "I am a complex arrangement of sythetic organs and semi-biological fluids that combine to power this body and the electrical network that forms the nervous system and center of thought. That one is similar, but has instead naturally grown tissues and organs created through cell division and a process known as 'mating'..." And he continues in that vein, going into as much detail as he can.

Rahm approaches Bryansis and says “I am Rahm 9, and I am versed in the care of several biological and semi organic life forms. If you will tell me a bit more about your planet and the copaxi, I will answer any questions I can

Seeing Integrity copying the copaxis greeting, Rahm does his best to emulate her actions. He doesn't make a very graceful show of it, a hulking armored figure, awkwardly doing a pirouette.

I'm assuming Elwin is making the Pilot check for us, as he has the highest modifier.

Rahm says "Agreed. That is the logical next course of action."

Making sure the comm channel is no longer open, Rahm says “the copaxis are coral colony creatures, perhaps these gravity distorting creatures are coral colonies as well.”

Rahm stands stoically by, in his full armor. His helmet hides his face, so there is no way to see he is frowning at Integrity. Whether he approves or not though, he is not the expert here in inter-species interactions. The Society must have had some reason to send this particular group of agents.

Rahm stoically remains on guard duty through out the voyage, breaking only to sleep. He prefers classic Aballonian electronica, but tries to keep an open mind about Integrity's offerings. He doesn't partake of the hyperleaf, or any food.

He does politely, though stiffly, inquire about the others combat abilities during the voyage. He hopes the mission goes without a hitch, but has found it best to always prepare for the worst, and a assessment of the team's combat readiness will help him prioritize targets should fighting occur.

“Lets hope it doesn’t come to that” replies Rahm, the actual Hellknight.

Rahm nods, mentally filing the information away with the note that it may not be entirely accurate. He then asks "Are there cultural taboos or forms of address we should be aware of?"

Rahm gives the Steward a respectful nod, impressed by her standing and pleased to see a fellow android in a position of influence. He listens intently and asks at the end "Will we be spending time under the oceans as well? I recall from a previous mission that specialized equipment is needed for such assignments."

Rahm, every ready and perhaps a bit over prepared, already has all his adventuring gear with him. The android practically lives in his armor. Noting the time of the meeting, he settles in to finish the paperwork before him, scheduling a mental reminder to depart with enough time to be 30 minutes early to the meeting.
