Disclaimer: I have been a PF subscriber for over 10 years and believe in supporting Paizo by purchasing as much content as possible.
Now, as the title says I am wondering if anyone can help me out. I find that having so many options for players to choose from has caused some issues in my games. I'd really like to pare down to as few books as possible to get away from all the choice bloat (and power creep) that comes when there are just so many books. I am not trying to gimp the players into unplayable characters by limiting choices, but rather keep the choices to ones that I can still enjoy running a campaign for.
Example: A few posts down I see one titled "Help me make a Teddy Bear Warrior". While I'm sure there are tons of players and GMs who would be thrilled to have that in their game, I am not interested in telling that story.
Another problem I have run into is having a character that is so complicated that each turn we struggle to figure out what even happens when all of their abilities are activated at different times (Magus - bow wiedlder, Starlit Span, Expansive Spellstrike, etc.) After a while I just kinda took their word for the 40+ damage and where their spell that was delivered by the arrow began and who it hit just so we could move on to the next players turn.
HERE IS THE CRUX OF MY QUESTION: Which books could I limit player access to that would make for a still fun (subjective i know), competitive yet much more simple game?
I am currently thinking Core books, plus maybe a couple others. If anyone who loves making lists is thinking of responding, please do. Maybe something like...
Suggested
Player Core
Player Core 2
Any book related to the AP, adventure or region
Book X, Y and Z
Maybe add with caution
Book A
Book B (to add some more choices without the bloat)
Skip (because now you've got warrior teddy bears)
Book Q
Book R
Thanks everyone!
I hope this is making sense.

I have a magus in my group that deals damage through her bow using Starlit Span and Expansive Spellstrike.
She shoots the arrow charged with a breathe fire spell.
When it hits a target she chooses the direction of the breathe fire.
Let's say the breathe fire hits 3 mooks,
If the roll to hit is a crit on the original target, is the spell damage also doubled before reflex saves are made? Or just for the arrow itself?
Thanks anyone!

Simply put, I've seen tons of threads like this, but due to all the arguing I can't find an answer. This must have been answered by a Paizo rep right?
Two groups in same vicinity, one group undetected, a PC from the undetected group fires his bow at an "enemy" from the other group. Allow the shot, then roll initiative? If so, where does the original shooter go? He could get two straight shots if he rolls highest.
Thanks!

If I’m bitten and fail the save against “curse of the werewolf” during nighttime under a full moon, do I transform right away? Or is there an incubation period until the next full moon?
Also, I’m surmising that a full moon is 3 nights, is this correct?
Thanks anyone!

Can a poppet familiar attack a creature? I see no stats for that in his character sheet.
Can he lay out caltrops?
Can he douse something in oil?
Thanks for any help at all.

Player has
3rd level Magus build
Longbow
Starlit Span
Expansive Spellstrike
Cantrips
Acid Splash
Chill Touch
Daze
Electric Arc
Tanglefoot
Telekinetic Projectile
1st
Burning Hands
Shocking Grasp
2nd
Scorching Ray
Focus
Shooting Star
A few questions...
1. Which of these spells are able to be "sent" along with the arrow damage? All?
2. Telekinetic Projectile = 2d6+3 + 1d8? Crit: 4d6+6 + 1d8 + 1d10?
3. 2 Action Scorching Ray damage on a hit = 2d6 + 1d8? Crit: 4d6 + 1d8 + 1d10?
3a. Since it's a 2 action spell, does the second ray hit the same target?
Or must it hit another target?
4. Area effect spells start at one corner of their targets square and spread from there.
This class gives me a bit of a headache to track all the ins and outs of each attack. Also, this player is doing way more damage than anyone else per round because they routinely get off 15 - 30 pts in the first round of combat, sometimes to multiple targets, since they only use their full attack bonus they seem to crit a lot.
Do I have this all correct?

Cast spout as a level 2 summoner, how many D4 do I roll?
Level 3?
Level 4?
Level 5?
Level 6?
Level 7?
Level 8?
Level 13?
Huge fight at the table over how heightening works. Shouldn't there just be a table?
thanks!

I have a player running a Magus with a bow using "Starlit Span" and "expansive spellstrike".
Any thoughts on this build? For now he's used it to send an arrow which does damage plus extra damage from Gale Burst. How would that work with Phase Bolt, Telekenetic Projectile, chill spray?
Also, he has "Arcing Cascade", can he send an arrow with a spell and then use arcing cascade to charge up a weapon in it's sheath on his belt?
I know the questions are a bit all over the place, but any help would be great!

Hi all,
My players are wiping out every encounter with ease. The monk of the party gets his flurry of blows off at +9 or +10 with inspiration and crits at least once or sometimes twice against the miniscule AC 14 mook, or AC 15 lieutenant style opponent. Is it really full attack bonus for both attacks?! So he's doing 20+ damage routinely vs 8hp or 22 hp. Are we figuring something wrong?
We also have a Summoner merged with Eidolon (big damage), an Evoker (Electric Arc can kill two 8 hp guys) and a Thaumaturge who can search for weaknesses.
At first level a few characters were given the dying condition due to the lieutenants actually getting a special attack off, but man, they are cake walking so far.
Anyone else having this trouble? Or have any ideas? I've already buffed hp, but the low ACs on enemies is brutal and leads to a lot of one shots.
Thanks in advance hive mind!

Are Summoners able to learn spells from scrolls? The rules were probably black and white, but I may have read something wrong. Under the learn a spell action it says "Requirement: You have a spellcasting class feature, and the spell you want to learn is on your magical tradition's spell list".
Is that the same for any class with a spellcasting class feature?
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I know that "The Zero Check" have produced a podcast based on this AP, but does anyone know of any extant or upcoming live play video series for Kingmaker 2e?
I wonder if people are waiting for the Foundry VTT version of KM before they go into production, or if the book is just so large that people are still prepping like I am.
Any direction is much appreciated!

Hello everyone,
So I am prepping to run this monster of a campaign, but as I read through it I am finding the scope so large that I'm pretty sure I may miss something important along the way. I see a "Quest Index" on page 622, but those are listed alphabetically.
Has anyone done the work to list them by challenge rating? Kind of like a loose flowchart of things that make sense at any level without missing out on any of them. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

It seems there are only a few options when it comes to magical robes. I can't find a list of more than (4?). Maybe this is covered in the rune "economy" instead. Help a guy out...

Since Battle Medicine is technically different from treat wounds, can you do Battle Medicine and then do a Medicine check for Treat Wounds?
I ruled they could not, since the character treating the patient would basically be doing everything they could to help the wounded. They would therefore be redundant.
The advantage of Battle Medicine I posited is that it can be done during battle.
Anyone have any ideas?

So say I found 50gp worth of alchemical reagents...does that mean my alchemist can use those in increments to craft "permanent" versions of my formulas? For example, let's look at a Lesser Acid Flask 3gp price. Just expend 3gp and 4 days, make the check and it's done?
Otherwise, what is the use of 50gp of Alchemical Reagents?
Am I waaaay off?
Thanks anyone who can help!

Will someone be so kind as to point me in the direction of an answer for, “I have him grappled, can I damage him with no weapon? Do I need to attack?”
Thanks,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for adventures that could comfortably be run for slightly younger players (13-14). When I was a kid we played D&D with the early editions that had all the classic art we all remember (lots of topless women), but I'd rather have a more family friendly option since times have definitely changed.
Thanks

With everything learned below Jorgenfist I would think most players would just try to head on toward XS. What is the motivation to return all the way to Sandpoint AGAIN after finding out about the magical city and big bad in the K mountains?
Any help would be great!

So, in my game we have a Barbarian, Bard, Cleric and Magus. They have found numerous magic items in play but never really use them. Is this a common thing in Pathfinder?
It seems like the character creation and development are so flexible with the multitudes of options at the players disposal that they can literally craft perfect characters that have no need for most magic items. I've never played in organized play, but from what I've read it CAN be about min/maxing which really just becomes a competitive game of math. That's not the way I like to play, but maybe my players do.
I must say that one main problem I have is that my games are too combat centric and therefore it probably encourages the players to arsenal up as opposed to maybe rounding out their characters more. I can't remember the last time a non combat spell was used in game.
I remember playing when magic items were awesome and rare. Is there some way I can look at this "problem" that will help me out a bit? Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
EJ

Hi,
I was expecting to receive a few things this week but I haven't even been charged for them yet. I see them in my side cart along with a couple things that aren't available yet.
I called two weeks ago to make sure that I would be getting PACG Mummy's Mask, the Add On deck, and CotCT hardcover as early as possible and so I'd like to make sure everything is ok with my order.
Thanks!

I find it utterly ridiculous when I see so many threads about how the coup de gras was used in combat either by the GM or by players. I admit it could realistically be used in certain situations, but for a general combat involving 5 pcs vs more than 2 enemies there is no way.
Most combats in Pathfinder wouldn't play out like a movie where there is time to watch the foe fall, make a comment and search for the secret key before someone else rises to take his play, but rather like a real life street fight. If someone goes down for the count the attacker almost always looks for danger around him or finds another target. I think the CdG mechanic is clearly abused as a power gaming tactic.
Now if one fight were happening away from the rest of the action, on a balcony, around a cave corner etc, I could see it happening, but in a real fight? Pshhh...
Some people on here make it sound like they use it all the time. Not only is it anti climactic, but it also feels a little sleazy to me.
So I avoid it in almost every situation as an option.
This is just my opinion.
Thanks for reading.

Aside from knowing the mechanics of powers, traps and situations that may arise, what else should I make sure to remember RULES wise.
Firing into melee...etc.
Thanks!

I am thinking about running the Rise of the Runelords Anniversary edition. So far, one player has chosen to play a Halfling Thief while another has chosen to play a bard. I was thinking of having a 4 or 5 member party, what would be the best classes to add to this "scoundrel" type pair?

I need some help. The character concept is this... I would like for a paladin character to possess a tower shield that deals energy damage to the attacker when struck. It could be done through feats, magic, prestige class, I don't care. I also realize that this should be a limited use power but would make a great effect maybe once a day.
any help would be appreciated, thank you

If my players "defeat" but don't kill an enemy who will "return later" do they get the experience reward now?
Sometimes the players cannot get a kill on a creature but have advanced the story so I feel I should reward the creature's experience at that point. The question then becomes, do they get no experience at the "later time" when they essentially re fight, and kill the foe? That would be double experience, right?
Thanks!

Simple question. I'm running Rise of the Runelords. We are in Sandpoint. How much money could be pick pocketed from a commoner's coin purse? Maybe the equivilant of 2 meals? Or a minor item price?
Thanks!
