"The term length for lord mayor in Magnimar is for life, or until retirement or until the current lord mayor is ousted. Citizens participate in voting for a lord mayor in Magnimar, but nominees are put forth by city officials."
I found the quote from a previous question asked of you and have read Magnimar, City of Monuments. I am playing in Shattered Star as a LN empiricist investigator and my character wants to help improve the city by getting into politics.
1. What would it take to join the council of ushers?
2. Can the council of ushers vote out the lord mayor? 2/3 vote?
3. If I ran for Lord Mayor would my (freed slave) half-mwangi half-elf encounter any resistance from the Varisians, or the nobility based on race or her lower class backstory?
I am really enjoying Shattered Star by the way. Me and my druid friend are planning on starting a trendy nature themed restaurant in the Noas district. Thank you for the awesome world to explore!
A couple solutions to the vandalism via suggestions.
1. In the top right area google docs there is a green button with what looks like an eye with a paragraph behind it. Click that and select "view" instead, this will hide all the suggestions that make the doc unreadable. When I tried to access the doc on my PC with chrome I couldn't do this before the page crashed.
2. Try copying the document via an android device. The android docs app "hides" all suggestions and makes copying it easy.
3. Here is an older version of the guide.
4. I suppose I could share the doc now that I have copied it, but I am hesitant to do so without Professor Q's permission. (edit: which obviously if he was available to give permission he could just fix the issue anyway.)
Think about what information the wizard has. What did he see of you? Would he know for sure it was you? Get the rogue to bluff the higher level wizard and tell him you have a doppelganger enemy? Stash the loot somewhere then try to find a scroll of modify memory to cast on yourself?
I really think the best way to avoid punishment would be to convince the wizard that it was not you. If your lucky he will be one of those wizards that over thinks everything and is arrogant enough to believe you are not capable of taking him out.

Initiative 29, Options listed in order of preference.
Option 1
Radic takes a deep breath and swims forward. E6
The water in front of him flickers rapidly with bright colors.
Color Spray targeting squares D3, E3, F3, D4, E4, F4, E5
Option 2
Radic reaches out and touches Astor, who suddenly disappears. Invisibility on Astor
Swim check (note I am not trying to stay afloat) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Male Elf Wizard, 5
Ahh, ok well then. Too be clear I cast haste already first turn. Second turn if I can get two or more sharks in color spray I will do so. Otherwise, I will cast mount to give the sharks something else to eat. I won't try to stay above the surface, I will just dive and sometimes come up for air.
Male Elf Wizard, 5
Remember you are hasted, you get an additional attack on a full round attack action. Also you get +1 to attack and +1 to AC. I would like to know what the sharks do before I post my second round choices, so I will refrain from posting until then.
Male Elf Wizard, 5
Mind if I ask a friend if he wants to join? He has limited access to the internet so I don't know if he will.

Initiative (Square C) 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29
Upon seeing the sharks Radic grins. Far from being worried, he seems to be in his element. Looking at Astor Zasz, he give the thumbs up then starts casting.
Casting haste. If you had 30ft movement could before move 7.5 or rather 5ft as a move or 15ft as a full round. Now you should have 60ft movement so you can move 15ft as a move or 30ft as a full round. Click below to see all the bonuses from haste!
HASTE

Radic follows the louie, his gaze wandering from fish to fish as they go.
Swim 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Male Elf Wizard, 5
Raising his eyebrows slightly, Radic drops his cloak to the ground and follows Louie into the water. After swimming a quick lap around the pool, Radic pops his head out of the water. "Come on in Astor! The water is beautiful"
Male Elf Wizard, 5
Radic walks over beside Astor and claps his shoulder soundly. "I am about 76.3% certain we will be fine. Lets stick together least those odds lower"
Male Elf Wizard, 5
Radic smiles slightly upon entering. "Beautiful, isn’t it? I am not a huge fan of bats and snakes, I hope the rest of the ruin is more like this.” Walking over to the pool, Radic carefully takes note of the pool's Ichthyofauna.
Nature 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
”Perhaps we can catch some fish, spread out our rations longer.”

I will post tomorrow but should probably do checks now so you can respond and I have more to say
Perception -2 included 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

As for the group, we already have a nice size so I won't re-recruit. We can survive right?
We can, but will we? DUH-DUH-DUH!

So unfortunately, I'm going to have to withdraw from this game. (It's not you guys, I'm doing it for every game).
I apologize and I wish you all the best.
:( Darn. Now I need to find a new BSF.

I see, I will have to learn some spells and cash in ;). Also, Astor if you don't want the lantern you don't have to take it but I thought it would be wise. I can manage with my light spell.
Male Elf Wizard, 5
Radic continues to study the mosaic, taking detailed notes. He ignores the others until Astor advises the party move forward. "Quite right. Let us proceed carefully however, the Vuljoon made use of Dire Bats, Mobats and Skavelings. It wouldn’t due to wander into a feral nest.” Radic scans the room as the party advances.
Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Radic also passes Astor a hooded lantern and a pint of oil. “There, keep that on you. I have a feeling we won't be seeing the sun for sometime.”
Male Elf Wizard, 5
Radic examines the mosaics closely and shares his findings with the party.

Radic somewhat nervously touches the palm of his left glove with his right hand. Light spills forth as he lifts his hand to get a better view of the statue.
"We will have to move closer, I can't quite see! Ten more feet should about do it."

Well this is interesting. We have two people on a rope and a furry gargoyle thingy. I really hope it doesn't spit acid... acid tends to be bad for ropes. On a side note, not knowing for a while adds alot to the suspense. In irl pathfinder games you would know relatively
quickly. I guess I will be trying to figure it out as I fall asleep.
Male Elf Wizard, 5
"What in the twelve depths... thats no creature it's a statue! But what kind of statue has fur?"
Radic mutters on to himself trying to think of what the creature might be...
"Hmm.. its throats moving...I hope it doesn't spit...I wonder if I have salve for acid...no I think I used that dealing with an ankheg burn..
My character is about tapped out here. In a desperate attempt to learn what he is dealing with, he will try to remember if anything he read about this ruin/ruins like this (History). Also, seeing as this is a temple, he will search his religious databases ;) And lastly he will detect magic and use spellcraft to identify if he detects anything. In that order
History 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Religion 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Spellcraft (if needed) 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16

Radic calls out a warning to Drake.
Drake, be careful, that beastie behind you does not look friendly.
Surprise round hey? Initiative 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
On my turn, I will Send Senses to get a closer look. Then I will roll knowledge planes. 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

I have never done pbp before so expect me to make some mistakes. I read the opening post and thought...o what do I do....lets see History, Nature, arcana, linguistics, perception and cast light. Then I didn't know if I could do all that at once so I pared it down.
Male Elf Wizard, 5
Radic, ever cautious, scans the room for possible dangers as he enters.
Perception check 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
He turns towards Tuillen, smiles and nods.
Whatever is down there, it doesn't sound good.
I have no idea the right knowledge to use but I will try Nature1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Astor Zasz wrote: I figure this is the time to say it, Astor is evil, and all but one of you are lawful or neutral good. Also considering that Tuilen has a level of paladin, this has the potential to be either awesome, or game ruining, I'm going to be working on the first, of course. So, perhaps I should take a moment to define Astor's attitude a little more.
While he is has no problem with theft as a rule, he will not steal from the group, simply because he knows better than to overly antagonize the people he is working with, you know, the ones that are supposed to be watchin his back. While I can't promise that he will risk himself to save anyone else, he certainly won't abandon you all to your fate at the first sign of trouble. The biggest thing that screams 'evil' about his attitude is that he is willing to resort to torture and murder as an acceptable strategy much quicker than most, but he's not so brazen as to brag about it. If it comes out and he is confronted about his wicked ways, he would likely just shrug his shoulders and say something to the effect of 'a slave learns what he is taught' and express confusion as to why it is such a big deal. He might add that he is doing the group a service, by sullying his hands so the rest don't have to.
The major thing is that I intend for Astor's evil to useful ratio to be such that no one in the group even entertains the idea of getting rid of him. Any thoughts?
Radic is a military man and has worked beside many evil characters in the past. He used to be lawful neutral but when he was discharged he re-evaluated life somewhat. Despite a distaste for it evil acts, he would likely turn a blind eye to it. As long as you don't go around harming innocent people Radic won't trouble you, though as I said before don't expect him to like you.

I also accept greater magic weapon, bull's strength, and cure moderate wounds. :D Ok, I will at some point buy bull's strength and greater magic weapon. I think the price to copy is relatively cheap at this level.

Nathaniel. wrote: Did I mention I have both of those? I was very tempted to look through other peoples sheets but didn't know if I should since I don't know them. That said I figured we would have a lot of redundancy in arcane spells. It is not a bad thing either, I assume you, being a synthesist, will be engaging in melee. Me having haste and enlarge person for Drake will hopefully give you more freedom to self-buff and tear off some faces. In the end though I think utility and control will be more my purview.

Edit: Also 1d6=3.5 average damage so that would be 17. Not counting misses ofc We're going to be upon the high seas so I think it's plausible for my character to pick up this evolution, particularly as most of the time he's a two hundred pound armoured lizard, and falling overboard may be hazardous. Ahhh so this is for OOC talk? I am a bit new to this but it should be fun. I am started with some buffs and utility. Once I see the party in action more I will fill whatever slots I think we are missing. Probs control.

I was planning on taking it 6-7 anyway. Strangely enough my dinosaur has swim, I didn't notice till my friend pointed it out. I found a picture online of what he looks like.

Ol' Jack Rummer wrote: On the Subject of Meta-Gaming
I mentioned previously that I want nothing able to remove the challenge of aquatic environments. Your characters have no idea they are going underwater.
Yeah, Rope Trick I love as a spell and would take regardless. I am just hoping you go with option 2 and have it work undersea so I have a safe place to prepare spells and sleep. :) But it is alright if you don't

As for concerns about movement and breathing. I took Rope Trick and even ask James Jacobs about it.
James Jacobs wrote: Emanonpf wrote: Rope Trick, does it work underwater? If it does, does the extradimensional space provide enough air for the entire duration? It does. I'd say that the extradimensional space in this case does one of 2 things...
1) It's created filled with water, or...
2) It has enough air for the duration, since it has enough air for the duration when you cast it outside of the water. (AKA: If water can't rush into the hole, air probably shouldn't leak into the hole either, and therefore the space created should be self-contained.)
Also I wanted to take Touch of the Sea and Water Breathing but figured it would be meta gaming. I will take them later though once it feel more appropriate.
Edit: Its kinda odd isn't it. I assumed that maybe Rope Trick wouldn't work or might run out of air. It seems to me what James is saying is that it works fine, but the extradimensional space created might be suitable for an aquatic wizard. I guess I am racist against those mermaid wizards >.>
Forgot familiar, so I updated that and sent you my backstory. I hope a dinosaur is alright, because the little guy is kinda awesome.
I edited the alias, it was my first time so tell me if anything is amiss. I am tired, so I will type up a back story tomorrow.
