I'm just glad I'm not a resource drain on the spellcasters for a change.
“What are you talking about Hudak – I wasted a fly spell and an enlarge person spell just to pull your sorry body out of the wreckage. Plus you made me totally waste that cat’s grace by killing the beast before I could go all Legolas on it.” ;-)
See, if Hudak were a stabbity blaster like me, he wouldn't have this problem.

You're my kind of guy.

I stab
And blast
And stab and stab and blast!
Stab! Stab! Stab!
Blast! Blast! Blast!
The Stabby N Blasty Show!

And here I thought it was an involuntary ejaculation of admiration when people saw me coming. <sniff>

Gosh

Is it time for more Adventures of Stabby Blast, G-at-L?

I wish, I wish, I wish I were a gish...

Gosh!

The Gish shall return! Just you wait!

Your gish is on my list.

Your eyes...pretty...

I...have sword...

Little did the min-maxers realize that all their empowerment of their ideal gish class had left it with a terrible weakness they had overlooked in their quest for blasty-stabby greatness. Then they confessed, weeping: Balance is a god of terror, and terrible is his vengeance!

Lord take me downtown, I'm just looking for some tush...

Less reason, more POWER!

CF! Long time no see!

Well the is Elric of Melnibone from Moorcock. I also remember an arcane warrior or two in the Witchworld books.

Skafloc, the main character from Poul Anderson's The Broken Sword (one of the inspirational works cited by Gygax) fits the bill dead on. The thing is, both he and Elric either fight or use magic -- never both at the same time (or, in other words, their magic has direct effects, rather than "buffing" them or enhancing their blows).

To a lesser extent, the character Lemminkainen from the Finnish Kalevala is a mean swordsman and something of a spell-singer as well.

I must be able to stab and blast at the same time with the same power as I would if I were a fighter or wizard only!

Can we get a Rone Rant about g~&#es someday?
Honestly, I also dislike the name. The reason is simple and true. It rhymes with squish.

Pish-posh

Squish-squosh!

Let's get'em, Gash!

This post belonged at the beginning of the thread, oh esteemed archetype. Maybe the PMG will move it there.

Wand of cure light wounds.

SEE I would so not ever have thought that as it means something else when I first heard it

Are you thinking of Lady Gaga's "disco stick"?

Let's have some fun/this term is sick

Find a replacement and make it stick

Where? Where?

Gish are easiest of all to portray.

Who is this Johnny Come Lately?

I am that which is striving towards you. I predict that you will discover there are many instantiations that are striving towards your perfection. I just hope that they all rhyme.

Anybody seen my archetype?
