Pip Hip Hooray's page

Pip is used to mucking out stables and badger pens. That was her family's business. She does make use of some magic for the muckiest parts, but happily hums away as she mucks out the stables and then spends time caring for and grooming the horses.

The best part?

NOT ONE SINGLE LOCUST.

"Did you say it's time to celebrate?" Pip swirls Hobbs into a dance. "We saved Absalom! Let's party!"

"Ah yes. I see now." Pip works to intensify the magic, spinning in a dance whose music only she can hear.

Pip prepares legal briefs for Hesla's trial.

"Alright, we'll concentrate on the ritual first. What can we do to help?"

Pip raises a hand. "And what can we do to aid Sallis? Salliss, would you like some really nice Heroism?"

Pip dances the jitterbug to inspire her team, and then hurls another telekinetic projectile at Blue.

Pip manages to shake off some of the swarm, but she can feel other bugs munching the leaves growing in her green dryad hair.

Not wanting to open her mouth again, she signs in big swooping gestures,

Pip spits out the swallowed bug.

Pip evades the bleed, takes the bite damage, and spits bugs out of her mouth. She casts Noise Blast on the Blue and Yellow Swarms, and then runs east out of the Red Swarm.

Before Makie or her other teammates can be affected, Pip counter-performs to counter the horrible noise of the Disgusting Chorus.

Makie and the rest of the team can choose to use my Performance check in lieu of a fortitude save.

Then Pip bravely moves forward, and casts a noise blast on two of the swarms, just barely missing Sallis.

"There's better food at the food court!" Pip throws some coins at the all-you-can-eat taco place and says, "Feed them and then send the rest of the bill to Ambrus Valsin at the Pathfinder Society!"

Pip keeps whistling, bringing the rest of the badger babies out of the way until she sees her cousin, Holly Hooray. "Can you take these babies back to Westgate? Thank you!"

Pip's family has trained Absalom's badgers for nearly two generations. She calls out to the badgers, speaking the badger's own language, and says, "This way, babies, come this way!"

But when they don't listen the first time, she lets out the Hooray family whistle, a high-pitched note that splits the air. Then she shouts,

"THIS WAY!"

Pip dances with the shaking ground, leaping easily across the rifts!

Pip smiles at Hobbs. "Thank you for this!"

Hobbs' Moderate Elixir: 5d6 + 12 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 6, 6) + 12 = 33

She drinks it down, and then exclaims, "Oh, this one is pickle-flavored! Delicious! I can really taste the cucumber and vinegar."

2 Attempts per PC? Alrighty then!

Pip presents her card. "Madame, allow me to present myself." Pip bows. "I am Pip Hooray, attorney-at law. May I acquaint you with the number of laws and civil ordinances you have violated this year alone?"

Pip makes a long list, each time citing the damage done to real people by Hesla's actions. "Consider this my notice that I will be proceeding with a Class Action suit by all your victims against you. It doesn't matter how lofty your goals were, when your actions caused irreparable harm."

It was a crit fail. Doesn't that mean she's Stunned 2 for a minute?

EDIT:
I guess that depends on how you interpret the Critical Failure text on the spell: "As failure, and the target is stunned 2 as it attempts to process the sensory shifts."

I thought that meant for the whole minute, because the target is processing sensory shifts for the whole minute, but it might just refer to the round after the spell.

EDIT 2:

Okay, I see that the Stunned Condition usually only lasts until all the Stunned is gone. It's different than Slowed.

Under that interpretation, yeah, she's no longer slowed. But she's still easier to hit. You all have her off-guard thanks to Saliss, and with her being clumsy 3 (and with Courageous Anthem) you should have a chance to hit non-lethally.

Makie -

The odds are MUCH better now. I just gave you Heroism +2, and she's now clumsy and slowed. We can take her alive if we use Non-Lethal force.

"Speaking of cults, they are so darned weird! A friend of mine decided to join a cult where he believed they would all melt into water vapor." Pip says. "I told him, you'll be mist!"

Then Pip looks at Makie. "You want to go for the Disarm? Here's some help!" Then Pip looks to everyone else. "I've got her clumsy, slowed and unable to defend herself well. Whatever we do, don't kill her! We need to bring her in to justice!"

"Hey Helsa, what do you call a group of people who worship demons?" Pip asks, Hesla, wide-eyed before finishing with the answer.

"Occult!"

Then she glances at Hesla, and says, "You know, your mood is ALL over the place!" To encourage even more moodiness, Pip casts Synethesia on Hesla.

"You silly gree-hee-hee-hee-n haired gnome! I'll g-g-get you!" she says, chortling as she launches more locusts at Pip.

"Ow! Hey, Hesla! Do you know why locusts aren't usually packed as rations?" Pip looks at the laughing Hesla and does not let up, even as the bugs start eating the vines that grow out of her green hair. "Because they can't be served cold, they have to be swarmed up first!"

"So you'll g-g-get me? Riftcarver is down, and we outnumber you!" Pip starts singing and dancing to the song that Hesla reminded her of.

"What the--?" Pip watches, shocked, as Riftcarver blocks Hesla's damage twice. This would be the point that Pip would normally burst into song, but instead she decides to remove Riftcarver's effectiveness. So she opens with a joke to break through Hesla's defenses.

"Hesla, you need to be done dating demons. They're too possessive."

Pip mumbles under her breath, "More locusts, of course it was more locusts..."

BEFORE

Valais comes up to you just before you leave. "If at all possible, please try not to kill Hesla, for there may yet be good within her, if only she can get past her pain."

Pip gives the locust a few more delicious leaves while nodding to Valais. "I'll try. No guarantees, mind."

Being an Animal Elocutionist, Pip whistles to a locust and says, "Want to come in to this container? I'll get you some veggie leaves from Hobb's mother's garden to eat! They're fresh!"

Pip's Perception (M): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39 (w Darkvision)

"I know, right?" Pip watches as several locusts land on her clothes. "Ewwww!" She grimaces. "I think I found them!"

"Ow! Ma'am, can you please stop hitting us?" Pip takes a broom to the face and shows her own holy symbol of Iomedae and a Diplomat's badge. "And I, as an ethical lawyer that does lots of Pro Bono work, follow Iomedae."

She widens her eyes, makes a Shameless Request, and looks earnestly at the shopkeeper. "Please, we're not cultists. I spent my last mission fighting them, and faced so many stupid locusts that I hope to never, ever see one again. We're Pathfinders, and we need it for a ritual to disrupt the cultists. Please, won't you help us?"

Pip nods. "That sounds excellent. Thank you, Dhrami!"

"Well, what we're looking for is..." Pip stumbles a moment and then consults her notes on what Zarta said that she wanted. "Can we look through your catalogs?"

"Alright, we've got the poster, so next on the list is..." Pip peers at her notes and frowns. "Oh. Dang. It's the Blakros Museum, the biggest chaos and catastrophe magnet in Absalom!"

She sighs. "Oh well, might as well get that one over with!"

Pip talks to both the man and his horse.* "Oh, hello to both of you!" She offers her hand to the horse to smell, and then says, "May I pet you and offer you a carrot from my lunch? Hobb's mom packed lunch for all of us, and they're really fresh!"

Then she smiles at the man. "Is there anything left over from the festival? I was hoping to get a souvenir!"

When the man tells her about the posters in the burn pile, she says, "Hey everyone... Let's look over here!" And then she turns to both the man and the horse, and says, "Thank you so much for your help!"

* Just like Hobbs, Pip is also an animal elocutionist.

"Alright, Explore, Cooperate, Report!" Pip takes a deep breath. She leads the group past the Quartermaster's office and then says, "Alright, who's ready to dig through some Carnival Debris?"

She smiles brightly at Hobbs. "Think of it as being just like Gardening!"

Everytime I play this character, I introduce her as the duly-appointed legal representative from the Envoy's Alliance to the rest of the team. This is the first time in my Pathfinder Career that I actually acted as a legal representative to defend my team.

Pip casts a Soothe on the Venture-Captain, and then makes a shameless request of Jorsal. "Venture-Captain, my name is Pip and I am the Envoy's Alliance appointed legal representative for this team." She hands Jorsal her business card. "If you arrest us, Zarta will have no one to compile her ingredients, and Hesla will win for real. I'm going to ask you to do something else instead. We acted rashly as a team, so let us make this up to you as a team once our mission is done. You know, and I know, that this isn't an arrest-worthy offense. This was at best prank-level, and it was not done maliciously. "

"Let us bring Hesla to justice, and then return to you, and if you still feel this way, then give us some community service to do on behalf of you or other Vigil veterans. What do you say, Venture-Captain?"

"If you want, I can cast Wave of Despair on you, or sing you the Vigil national anthem, or tell you a really sad story?"

"Hesla is bad news," Pip says, thinking back to Valais's request, "but I believe in the rule of Law. Otherwise, what was all my legal training and pro-bono work for? Still, if we bring Hesla back for justice, I might volunteer for the first time to work as a prosecutor rather than as a defense lawyer. She used people, hid behind charity, consorted with demons and betrayed the trust that cities put in her. Someone who stomps on your trust and goodwill and then sells out your city to demons is someone who deserves the full weight of the law to fall on their head."

Then she takes a deep breath, and says to Hobbs, "It may take more than an onion to help Jorsal cry, but it's good to be prepared."

Pip looks at the list of what they're supposed to pick up:

▫ Foreign Quarter Fairgrounds—An artifact or debris from Hesla’s Gilded Carnival.
▫ The Blakros Museum—speak with the museum curator to borrow a relic from a Sarkorian god caller, preferably
representing Alglenweis.
▫ The Ascendant Court—a religious symbol of conflict attuned to Deskari
▫ The Grand Lodge—the tear of a Mendevian Crusader (Jorsal of Lauterbury is a Mendevian Crusader who
should be somewhere within the lodge.
▫ Eastgate—a living locust

"Gah, I told you that we'd face more locusts! They even gave us a bug trap to bring them back in!"

Pip looks at the others. "While I would rather get the bugs over with and do them first, we probably should get the the tear from Jorsal at the Grand Lodge, the debris from the carnival in the nearby foreign quarter and the Blakros Museum first, since they're all nearby."

Thinking back on Rain's eavesdropping, I have to wonder if we have understood the character all wrong. Maybe he's not an incompetent bumbler... Maybe he's a spy for the Aspis or something.

Pip lays a hand on Hobbes's back, and says in gnomish, "Does dim angen teimlo cywilydd gan rieni cariadus."

To the elderly gnome she says, "It is an honor to meet you, sir! Thank you for the delicious provisions!"

Pip takes a small amount of the excellent feast, wanting to leave room for the others and the ever-hungry Hobbs to have some too.

Pip sighs. "Saliss, we're going to see more locusts again, aren't we?"

As Marta talks to her bird, Pip listens to the language. It's not one she has learned yet, but she enjoys the sound of it. In the language of birds, she says to Everness, "Thank you for accompanying us. It's most appreciated!"

Then she welcomes Marta and hands over her business card. "It'll be a pleasure working with you!"
