Same. Here, but waiting.

For the moment, Peris holds her tongue, letting others take point with the responses. She also holds her place, saying quietly, "Alseta guide her words."

Casting guidance on Uraisa.

My apologies, last week was a bunch of doctor's appointments (just annual checkups, nothing serious) and an interview. So I was pretty occupied.

"Incredibly useful and prepared as always, your Ladyship," Sir Peris replies.

Dressed in a high-cut deep blue dress with dark gray kid gloves and a structured shrug that gives her shoulders extra definition, Peris continues her tradition of straddling the line between a lady-in-waiting and a military officer. She pins her brooch to the shrug and listens for any further advice.

Apologies, this past week was a doozy.

Ready!

Female Human Warpriest Cleric 1 | AC 17 | HP 17 | F+6 | R+5 | W+9 | Perception +8 | Move 25'

No focus on any object here, I'm more interested in watching what people do than the objects for themselves.

Noting Uraisa's success, Peris smirks as she finishes her game. "Thank you for such a great time! We'll have to do this again sometime. Give me a chance to win back some of that coin." She winks as she takes her leave of the table.

She joins Uraisa and Caporetto in the tour of the arcade.

Sir Peris joins the table, asking what's the buy in.

Her goal in this game is not to win, but to build camaraderie. She'll show no concern for off-color remarks, and try to be a competitor, neither a pushover nor a shark. She figures she'll lose some money, but is hoping to stir conversation about superior officers.

"We're looking for the captain of the guard, Uraisa," Peris replied. "We can't expect his men to spell out how to speak with him while they're on duty, so, we find them when they're off duty and don't have to watch for threats."

What's the talk and gambling about? Can I/we get in? Perhaps a round of drinks would be welcome? Diplomacy +4, Society +4

Sir Peris gathers Volt and anyone else looking to meet with the off-hours guards to the Bailer's Retreat. The place looks a bit run-down, but steady. Definitely not a noble's gathering place.

"Come on in," she calls to her party, "First round's on me."

"Thank you for reminding us of the process, sir. Good day to you."

Peris steps in with the simple comment and steps away from the door.

Away from the guard, she discusses, "So now we know that we would need the captain's permission, and that commoners are not normally welcome. As much as I despise having a door slammed in my face, we've figured out where the key lies."

"So, Aria, that's the right next question: where can we meet with the captain? Asking a soldier on duty isn't a good way to get that answer. A better way? Let's find where the soldiers gather when off duty."

No worries. Things are slow moving now anyway, as people get their hooks set.

That's a tough break. What career are you in?

I work in corporate finance, but I'm not too worried. I've already spoken to a few companies, and have high hopes I'll have something new soon.

Sir Peris picks out a demure, dark blue dress, then chooses a series of yellow silk braids to drape across the shoulders. The silk has a soft femininity, but the shoulder placement is reminiscent of a military epaulet.

Sir Peris claps her hands. "Well, in that case, we have a week to prepare, so I believe it's best if we get to know our assigned acquaintances better."

She tugs at her gloves to remove them from her hands. "In addition, we should get to know each other. I was sent to fight for my house, but my main skill was as a field medic. During the engagement, I saved a member of House Lotheen, and this is why I am in my lady's court today."

She pulls back her coat to reveal an amulet, a silver pendant bearing two faces in profile. "I am a cleric of Alseta, dedicated to helping others pass through their challenges, opening the doorways, seen and unseen."

Peris lifts an eyebrow. "Vylora, if you know Countess Abrielle, that will assist with the approach. And Sennos, how would your request fit with mine?"

Peris approaches Aria and gently places a gloved hand on her shoulder. "If there is anything further you wish from Lady Lotheed, please feel free to let me know to arrange it for you."

"There is good chance that many of our individual goals can be met in tandem," Peris replies to Uraisa. "Mine is information gathering, simply to determine what two senators are planning to vote and why. Would you happen to know Duke Centimus or Countess Abrielle Pace?"

Female Human Warpriest Cleric 1 | AC 17 | HP 17 | F+6 | R+5 | W+9 | Perception +8 | Move 25'

"I have no questions at this time," Peris responds, "But if any come up, I'll see that the appropriate people are asked."

She then reaches beneath her coat to pull out a series of sealed envelopes, and passes them around by name. She has a sealed envelope of her own, as well.

Peris smirks. "Of course you have my service, as if that were ever in question."

Patting a pocket or bag underneath her coat, she adds, "Once we have consensus, I'll distribute these."

GM:
And feel free to bot me for getting the envelopes out to everyone.

Peris smiles warmly toward Aria. "This is one of Lady Martella Lotheed's sitting rooms, and she and I are grateful for your attendance. All will be clear in time. We still have a few more individuals we are waiting for, and then I'll fill everyone in at once."

Glancing towards Uraisa, she adds to Aria, "And although Lady Martella does appreciate the extra effort at gentility, she does recognize skill foremost. Your outfit will not cause concern here, Aria."

She finishes with a bow toward Uraisa. "And it is with utmost pleasure that I meet you, Lady Uraisa. May the hospitality be to your liking."

As others enter the room, a woman is there to greet them. Her jaw is strong, eyes a steely grey, her shoulder-length hair is brown and straight.

"Greetings," she bows, gesturing each to the seats around the table with a hand in a leather gauntlet. "I am Sir Peris Fomeni, lady-in-waiting to Lady Martella. Please make yourself comfortable."

Sir Peris doesn't strike the look of a lady-in-waiting. She wears a reinforced blue tabard instead of a dress. Is she a bodyguard? Maybe? There's no sword at her hip, and her hair is too long for a soldier. But then, it's too short for a proper lady at court, either. And no lady-in-waiting you've met has called herself "Sir."

In any case, she smiles softly and gestures gracefully.

Great to hear, thanks for the update!

Equipment done! Character fully ready.

I've still got some equipment to choose, but my character should be done!

I'm set up with Field Medic right now, but I can easily switch it out for Child of Oppara with minimal change.

Here's some of the bare bones for Wrong John Silver/Camber's cleric of Alseta. I haven't added the equipment, background, or history yet, but it should be able to get us started.

The character looks good on a first read through. If accepted into the game, I can see some stigmas due to his extreme appearance. I'm assuming that would be expected.

Is he endlessly on the run from the Black Triune? Does he struggle ethically with his split patronage? I'll be curious to read his personality when its Compleat.

I've added the personality (and a couple extra details in appearance and background).

I've deliberately left a few details not fully fleshed out specifically as campaign hooks you're more than welcome to fill in. Since this is a sandbox, I figure giving you things to play with is a good idea. So, it might be the Black Triune behind his treatment, or it could be a splinter group. The split patronage is more that he does not know what he believes, or what divinity he's drawing power from. If you want it to veer into Zon-Kuthon trying to influence Fortunino, go right ahead. If you want it to be two deities fighting for his soul, that works, too. Although his desire for freedom is very much a Desna thing, he probably wouldn't be comfortable feeling like he should be serving Desna, either. He just wants to be free to choose his life for himself.

And yes, I wholly expect him to have a bunch of stigma from his appearance. That's a big part of the reason I chose the Wasting curse for him.
