So I have been trying to buy the Starfinder PDF for the last week to no avail, as every time I enter my details I get bubkis. The page doesn't complete. No confirmation email. No download.

What do?

Keelhaul that filthy landlubber,
Send him down to the depths below!
Make that bastard walk the plank,
With a bottle of rum and a yo ho ho!

Your temples feel like drums someone has spent the night playing quite vigorously, your eyes throb behind your eyelids and your tongue feels… hairy? The smell of unwashed bodies, blood and urine mix in your nostrils as you awaken to find yourself totally in darkness. You do not recognise your surroundings, but you can feel the floor shift under you, signalling you are probably on a ship and no longer in the Formidably Maid, the Tavern you ended the night in.

Amara:
The rhythm beating in your head matches the drums of the natives back on your home island and for a brief second you feel like you are back at home, minus the potential to run into some of the Mantis. Well… at least you hope not anyway. Your eyes flutter open and you begin to search around yourself, but you come up empty, your gear has been seized and along with it, your weapons. Your breath catches and for a second you panic, before you find your holy symbol, still where you had left it, tucked away safe.

The Lady is kind, you have your symbol and you are on a ship, how bad can things be?

Cadj:
You awaken feeling groggy, your stomach churning like a boat tossed by a Storm, your throat burning like the pits of hell. You sit up slowly, beginning to take stock of your situation, your time working as a Ships Doctor allowing you to diagnose yourself in the blackness. You bear no physical wounds, no bumps bruises or scrapes. Your throat is burning from a buildup of acid, probably due to vomiting. Your head is throbbing, enlarged blood vessels due to dehydration from alcohol. You have a faint taste of spice in your mouth and an oily texture you instantly recognise as Oil of Taggit. You were poisoned, but it has left your system and is no longer dangerous. Satisfied you are not dying, you reach for your equipment, only to find yourself devoid of it all, book, weapon and gear, gone.

Whoever these bastards are, you are going to make sure they pay for shanghaiing you!

Cuff:
You cough violently and sit up, spitting out a mouthful of blood and something white and sharp. You groan, sitting forward, your head feeling like a recently rung bell. You laugh softly to yourself, propping yourself up against a barrel and staring around you. There are five other people in the small cramped room with you, all of them slowly stirring and attending to their own injuries. You freeze, panicking slightly when you realize your gear is gone. One hand flies to your shirt and you breathe a sigh of relief, you still have your brassknuckles. You relax and stare down at the pool of blood beside you.

’Huh… a tooth.’

Nameless:
You jolt up into a setting position, gasping for air, covered in sweat. Your head catches up with your motion and you feel your eyes swim and your mind threatening to cut out again and send you back to unconsciousness. You lay one palm down to your side, searching for your sword, only to come up empty. Your gear is gone. You remember going to the waterfront last night, to stare at the sea, then a sharp pain, bright flash of light and the waves reaching up for you. You hair is sticky with blood from where you were struck. You dont seem to be bleeding any more though.

You can feel the ship shift under you, rolling in the sea, and it gives you comfort.

Ondir:
You sit up slowly, your hand going to your face. The men who attacked you had done a good job on you, you are bruised and bloody, there may even be broken bones. You pant, your hand dropping away to your hip, searching for weapons you are reasonably sure aren’t there. You had spent the last of the night with an intriguing Half-Orc woman by the name of Cut-Throat Grok. She was a powerful one, all fire and brimstone. Interesting to say the least. The night had gone well, well, till the men had came. They burst through the door and ordered Grok to come with them, and she had obliged. She hadn’t however obliged them when they ordered her to help in capturing you, electing instead to leave.

It wasn’t much, she didn’t help you or anything, but at least she didn’t harm you! You shrug your shoulders and smile as you feel two of your daggers shift in their sheaths where they remain hidden. They haven’t got the better of you yet!

Vex:
There once was a Pirate by the name of Luckless Lou. Lou had begun life as a bard, a tavern entertainer, much like yourself, till one day he was drugged and drawn in to a life of piracy and adventure. You know this tale, it is one of the first tales you learned. You are cursing yourself for not taking it to heart. You spent the night telling tales in the Formidably Maid and at the end, you ended up drugged and dragged off. You sit up and reach around you, unable to find your gear. You do however notice your lockpicking kit is still safely tucked in to your boot, so there is still a silver lining.

Luckless Lou lived a long and happy life, and died with a mountain of treasure so you know… Adventure here you come!

Before you can do little more than open your eyes and wonder about the lack of equipment and your circumstances, you hear heavy footfalls on the boards, before being blinded as light floods the hold. Squinting against the glare of the lamp, you find yourself staring at a man with long black hair, holding a whip. Behind him stands a collection of burly, grizzled looking pirates, each carrying a sap in their meaty fists, grinning at you maliciously. Before you can register much more, your eyes are drawn back to the man before you with a loud crack of his whip.

“Still abed with the sun over the yardarm? On your feet, ye filthy swabs! Get up on deck and report for duty before Cap’n Harrigan flays your flesh into sausage skins and has Fishguts fry ye up for breakfast!”

Knowledge Local DC 15:
Captain Harrigan is a well known Free Captain of the Shackles. His ship is the Wormwood. You can guess that you must be in her hold. Lucky you.

Intelligence Check DC 10:
You faintly recognise the mans face and after a little bit of pondering, you realize you have seen him before, the night before, in the Maid. He must have been the one who kidnapped you.

Welcome one and all. Here is the first part.

We're rascals and scoundrels, we're villians and knaves.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, we're really bad eggs.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

You awaken to darkness, coming screaming back to consciousness with your head pounding from the night before. You can hear the lapping of waves against wood, the sound of the sea, but you know that that is probably just the blood pounding in your ears. Or is it? The smell of salt, sweat and vomit hangs heavy in the air and you can feel you are not alone. What happened last night? Where are you? Hell, who are you?

From the smell of the air, the shifting of the floor below you, you can tell this isn’t the Formidably Maid, the Tavern you spent the night before in.

Aqguazula:
Your throat is raw, your eyes burning and your head pounding. You can see you are locked in a darkened hold, penned in like chickens with a group of random people, a mix of races. You turn and catch sight of a small female Tengu and snort softly. Chickens indeed! You glance around you but find your equipment gone.

No weapon, no gear, locked up in the dark. Did you leave home? This sounds like something the Mantis might do. Probably not them this time though.

Beepos Droppo:
Your leg itches so badly it is driving you mad. You reach down to scratch it, an old habit, and find… nothing of course. That damn itch has been there since that filthy shark bit your leg off. By Besmaras bones you wish you had scratched it before going for a swim. You wake up fully and look around and as normal, the itch fades till it is barely noticible unless you focus on it. You are not alone, and with your sharp eyes, you can see you are trapped in the hold of a ship. You reach for your weapon but find yourself unarmed.

Damn it, why did you have that last drink?!

Chandria:
You awaken to the smell of vomit and salt and your stomach does a flip. Gods, what is that horrible taste on your tongue? Spice and… oil of taggit? You were poisoned. Those slimy bastards, whoever they are. You feel around yourself for your gear, you are sure you have something that will fix you up, if only you could find your pack. There isn’t anything though sadly, your things are gone, you don’t even have a knife to defend yourself with and you just heard a slightly sinister chuckle in the darkness.

This isn’t home, this isn’t your comfy little nest.

Dacota:
You jolt awake, your hand darting to your belt for your Cutlass, only to find it empty. You curse and fumble around yourself in the dark, groaning softly from the sickness building in your stomach and the throbbing headache. You find nothing, your gear is gone, down to the last knife. You sigh and sit back, closing your eyes, though it makes little difference. As you lie there, you slowly start to feel better, the rocking of the ship taking away your nauseousness, the smell clearing your head.

You might be locked in the dark, but you are on a ship, so things could be worse. Besmara be praised!

Linnet:
Your face stretches in to a slow smile as you awaken to the sounds and smells of a ship. You sigh contentedly and roll over, before a frown starts to form on your face. This isn’t the Maiden Voyage. This isn’t your home. You can’t see anything but you can feel people around you, feel you are not alone. Who the hell are they? You think back to the night before, you were drinking happily at the Formidably Maid, downing rum and wine in excess when… darkness. You can’t remember anything, not how you got here, not anything.

Get out of the hold, get a weapon. But one thing at a time. A ship is a ship, you can handle it!

Sasha:
Your head is throbbing, your eyes watering as you sit up, swaying slightly. The ship tosses and turns beneath you as if in a storm, or at least it feels like it. You reach out and steady yourself against a crate, leaning up against the cool wood, till you feel your feet steady below you. Panting you look around to find yourself surrounded by five other people. Who they are, you don’t know, but they all wear varying expressions of confusion and shock, an expression you are sure your face mirrors. You are on a boat though, and the sea has always been your friend.

Besmara be good, you can handle this!

Hey guys, welcome to the discussion thread for Blood and Gold, Team three of the Skulls and Shackles AP. Please introduce yourselves and state your position in the world, if you feel comfortable. Thanks

-TCT

Just a filler so the Campaign profile is full. Got all the team.

Greetings one and all, please dot here and get to know eachother.

If you feel up to it, include your real name and your position in the world.

I'll have the first post up as fast as possible but probably not till the morning.

Yo ho, all hands,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars;
never shall we die.

You awaken in darkness, a faint recollection of a song flitting across your mind, the smell of salt and sickness heavy in the air, your head pounding from too much cheap wine, and for the unlucky of you, from the fists and boots of your captors.

As you each come screaming into consciousness, you recall the night before, whether it be drinking and singing in some barroom, before your memories fade to a strange darkness, or carnal pleasure followed by bitter betrayal. You get a general sense that you are not alone in the hold, but most of you can not see or make out where anyone else is. Those of you who can note that the hold is mostly empty, bar for six very confused creatures, and some boxes and barrels.

Esmarelda:
You come to in the darkness and as you do, instantly your face starts to hurt. You can feel your left eye socket is tender and your eye swollen closed, even though you can not see anything at the moment. Your last memory was of a dark haired man, with a whip on his belt, driving his boot into your face after he had knocked you to the ground.

You reach for a weapon, but find none of your gear. You can still see the smug face of the man you had taken to bed, the man you had met in the Formidably Maid, as he left the room and left you to your fate.

Aqguazula:
You awaken to see yourself surrounded by unknown creatures, all in a similar state of dishevelment and confusion. You can remember stepping outside of the Formidably Maid, the Tavern you had frequented last night, then blackness. You have a small bump on the back of your head, but you feel like mostly it was the drink that did you in, a particularly foul wine, the only thing they had in stock.

You glance around for a weapon, but your things are gone. You are reminded of a saying “Caught like a fish out of water”.

Eskilline:
You awaken mentally cursing yourself for being a fool. You had spent the night spinning tales in a tavern called the Formidably Maid, but paid no heed to the lessons they held. You had just been about to tell the tale of a pirate, Unfortunate Sal, who had been drugged and pressganged into serving on her first ship when everything went black. Probably shouldn’t have had that last drink, the man who gave it to you had looked mighty shady.

You find yourself lying on your side, with a pool of vomit spreading out before you. Your personal effects have all been seized.

G’nosha:
You awaken to find yourself sprawled against a crate, your lip steadily dripping blood, your nose feeling swollen and disjointed. You glance around and find yourself surrounded by five creatures, none of whom you know. Your night had been going well, you had found a nice tavern full of activity and music, The Formidably Maid, and had even met somebody. They were mysterious and enchanting, a Pirate they said. You took to them too fast and before you knew it things got out of hand.

You never did see the cudgel that hit you from behind, but you felt it, as surely as you felt your face being driven into the ground and the beating that followed. Your hand twitches towards your weapon but you find yourself unarmed.

Just out of interest, what is G’noshas preference? Male or female? Both? Just so I can fill in which of the Crew was your mate for the pressganging.

Zarvas:
Your night at the Formidably Maid had been a good one, full of drink and cheer, the sounds and smells of a busy tavern and even some gold from dicing. You had left the establishment and maid your way down to the docks, you loved looking at the sea after all, it called to you. The last thing your remember is a bright flash of light, before the waves rushed up to meet you. You never even registered the club to the back of the head till you awake to find your scalp sticky with congealed blood.

You look around for your weapon, but instead only find big people, strange people. The Goddess of Revenge has some work to do!

Zale:
Really it has all gone downhill, since that bloody brand appeared on your face. The Goddess of Pirates was jerking you around like a dog on a chain, but you could deal with it, you could handle it. You handled it so well, you found yourself in the Formidably Maid, drinking your way to a resolution and how. But that was the last thing you remember. You awake to find yourself in the dark, your head splitting and your stomach giving you the once over. Did you soil yourself? Oh who knows anymore…

You still have faith you are doing the right thing, but that is all you have. Your gear is gone.

I just took it to be assumed the mark was on your face now. Hope that suits.

Lucky you.

Esmarelda:
You recognize the man as the one who assaulted you last night as the other man left.

Welcome one and all. Here is the first part. Looking forward to this now.

Greetings you godless curs and welcome to my recruitment for the Skulls and Shackles AP. If you are reading this then it is safe to assume that you lily livered landlubbers are sick of your safe and stable lives and you thirst for a touch of adventure.

I am new to DMing PbP, this will be my first game, and although I have run Skulls and Shackles before, I do ask for patience. I am also not all that consistent, I can be flaky and absent, but I will not disappear for more than a day or two at a time, I can promise that. If you can deal with both of these small details, then I can offer you a (hopefully) fun game. I am big on party building and heavy role playing, but not to the exclusion of roll playing, if you catch my meaning. With the success of the Humble Bundle (Everyone should be proud of that. Well done guys!), we have a lot of new people on the site, so I am going to cater to them but not exclude more experienced players at the same time. I am looking for interesting character ideas and party dynamics, rather than an ironclad knowledge of the rules.

So without further adieu, let’s get down to brass tacks -

The Skulls and Shackles AP is a Sea Based piratey adventure that will see you shanghaied at the start of the first book, and forced to work on the decks of the Wormwood, the flagship of Free Captain Barnabas Harrigan.

EDIT FOR ROUND 2 - Hey guys, so here is the recruitment thread for Group two. As noted, please dot with the character you intend to put forward. If you are new to this thread and not from my other recruitment thread, well howdy, welcome to the madness. Please find all you need to know below. Cheers all.

Mechanics:

Races- All Core races accepted but I will allow non standard races on a case by case basis. I am pro Human I will say, but that does not mean I am anti any race. Except for Drow. I am not a fan of Drow, just my personal feelings. I will still accept a Drow character, if they have an interesting enough concept behind them.

Ability Scores- This recruitment will be using the point buy system, detailed here on the table titled “Ability Score Costs”. Furthermore, no character may have a score higher than 20 or lower than 8, after racial bonuses and negatives have been applied.

Accepted Material- I will accept any and all Paizo material* but will have to accept 3pp only after looking it over thoroughly. I haven’t used much of it so I am not comfortable with it. I will say that Path of War is a no go for me.

*Technology guide doesn’t really fit in this part of the world but I can be convinced

Classes- As stated above I will accept any and all Paizo material, with the exception of the original Summoner. Unchained Summoner is fair game and replaces the original Summoner. Archetypes tied to the Technology guide may not make much sense, but I could be argued around to them.
Skills- I really like the use of background skills, I think it brings a new depth to characters when they have extra skill points for the option of profession skills and the like. Background skills and their explanation can be found [url=http://www.d20pfsrd.com/skills/background-skills]here.[/ur]

HP- Full HD at every level. You are badass sword swinging pirates not sniveling dogs who can be killed easily.

Gold and Equipment- Full for your class at first level but you do not start with access to your gear, as per the AP.

Traits- Three traits, one of which must be a Campaign trait, from the Skulls and Shackles Players guide, and one drawback. Characters, like people, should have flaws so choose one that makes sense and build it into your PC.

Alignment- No CE allowed. That leaves you 7 other viable alignment options to go for, so it isn’t that big a deal. CE usually ends up just being disruptive and annoying, in my opinion, so I don’t want it. And as this is a pirate based campaign, LG is also not really something that makes sense.

If there is anything I have forgotten here, please let me know.

Mechanics are a small but important part of character creation. Listed below are the Fluff aspects of your character I would like filled out -

Character:

Backstory- A short backstory, telling me how your character came to be in this position, why he is in a position to be shanghaied. Also name drop one NPC from your background, who your character has some bond with.

Appearance- Height, weight, hair colour and eye colour. Does your character have any defining scars? Do they wear any jewelry or have any tattoos? How do they dress?

Motivation- What drives your character in general? Revenge? A need to be famous? A thirst for gold? What goals do they have before being shanghaied and now after the fact?

The last three are just for fun, but are a good exercise in terms of trying to feel more tied to a character.

So I think that is mostly it, just one thing left to do and that is deal with formatting. There are a lot of different ways to format a character sheet on the site, and I do not think my way is the best, but it is the way I am most comfortable using so… I have spoilered a template below, that can be copy/pasted into a profile and filled in.

Greetings guys.

So welcome to your discussion thread and thanks for your interest in my game. I'll be messaging some of you shortly with slight changes I want you to make with your characters, but for the most part your characters are all good.

Please get to know each other while you wait for the first post on the Gameplay. If you could note your RL names (If you are comfortable with doing so) and your Position in the world.

Cheers

So that is everything. I will leave recruitment open for a week, so closing will be on the 12th of March at Midnight (UTC-3:30).

I look forward to seeing all of your applications.

So I was wondering if there is any way to find out contact details for the Guilds, on Goblinworks? Anyone know how? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And to those who messaged me last night or recently, who I have not replyed to, I apologize, I have been busy. Expect a reply soon.

A stiff breeze causes the flames to leap higher in the fireplace as the door of the inn swings open briefly and Vali pushed his way inside. He scanned the crowd for a moment before nodding to himself and shrugging out of his heavy fur cloak, hanging it on a peg by the door. 'Erastils snowy beard it is warm down here!' he glared at the fire for a moment and sighed. 'Best get a move on,they won't wait forever.

He pushed his way through the crowd slowly, making his way to the bar where he signaled the barman to bring him an ale. Putting his back to the heavy oaken bar he turned to face the crowd once more, scratching his thick red beard in thought. It was always hard to gauge how to approach a thing like this. Did he just start shouting and hope everyone listened? Did he make a scene, draw some attention to himself? He didn't know but he assumed it would be better if it was done... politely.

"Always better to be polite..." He whispered to himself before turning back to the barman and thanking him for the drink, sliding his silver across the counter to the man.

Taking his tankard in hand, he moved to stand before the fire, staring in to the crackling flames for awhile, his tall broad figure silhouetted against the flames. 'Well it is not like they are going to boo you out of the building are they? Cayden Caileans nuts what am I doing here? Why isn't Grandpa Anders doing this, or hells even Snorri?' He sighed, running a heavily calloused hand through his long red braids. 'Forget it Vali... Pull it together man, just get on with it. Do the family proud, you are a Haggarsson!' He nodded to himself and took a long swallow of ale, downing the tankard in one before belching loudly and turning to the room.

"HOI! LISTEN UP!" He paused, waiting till the room went silent and everyone was glaring at him.

"R-right. Well... words aren't my thing, and by Gorums greasy taint I am sure you all don't want to listen, so I will keep it short!"

"GOOD! That was nice and short, now PISS OFF!" the room exploded with laughter and Vali joined in along with them, before holding up his hand, signaling he was going to speak again.

"That is fair friend, you got me good there. Anyway... I do not want to take more of your time so I will get to the point. There is a spot of land not far from here, bountiful and with room for plenty on it. My family and I plan to take that land and we plan to hold it as our own. But as they say... safety in numbers hey?" He paused for a moment, looking round the room, meeting everyones eye in turn, seeing there the understanding that time here in the Riverlands had brought, to each and every one of them standing there that night.

"Aye, safety in numbers. We are looking for people to join us, to make that long dangerous trek out in to the wilderness and aid us in setting up something that we can all be proud of. I know what you are asking yourselves, why would we do that? Why leave the safety of the city? And I would counter with why the hells not? Come, join us. Carve your fortune out of the land like so many have done before us. Find a gold mine or stumble across a grove of expensive woods and plants. It is all out there my friends, in the wilds of this world and it is all ours for the taking!" He smiled and nodded to a group of men who were whispering together and nodding to eachother at a table in the corner.

"We are going out there anyway, whether we get help or not. But... we would surely like you all along with us. Come find your fortunes and adventure with the Haggarssons friends and we will show you a good time!"

Sorry for the long introduction there. This is a recruitment post for a small starting off PFO Guild known as the Haggarssons.

The Nitty Gritty Stuff:

Hey guys and gals, we are a small up and coming Guild known as the Haggarssons. We are a bunch of displaced Ulfens with aspirations, looking for a place to build a new home for our family. Driven (or kicked) out of out ancestral home in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, we have finally found somewhere to continue the Haggarasson legacy. But while our Erastilite upbringing give us a strong sense of community, we pay our dues to Cayden Cailean - No Haggarsson may die without leaving their mark upon the world!

The Haggarssons have a long and proud history of accepting any who share our philosophy of family values, adventuring to help those in need, and the love of a good pint into our fold.

In short - We are a Role-Play inspired Guild, probably aligned towards the NG, looking for others who love the story building aspect of this game. We are looking for a few good men or women to help us create something fun and beautiful for all of us. So please, if you love Role Playing and feel like you could be a part of our family, please don't hesitate to join us - Join the Haggarssons

If anyone has any questions or suggestions please drop me a line.

Cheers for listening,
Robert

Hey ya'll so as the title says I am hunting for a PbP. Now system wise I do not really have much knowledge beyond Pathfinder, the Wheel of Time or the IKRPG but am totally willing to learn if pointed towards a rule book.

I tend to post sporadically at times but usually will be active at least once a day. I am really just looking for a way to get my creative juices flowing and game at the same time. I have been part of a few great PbP's here in my time and was sad to see them close, but I am back now and I am looking for a new gig.

Have sword, will travel!

Male Human Gunslinger (Gun Tank)/ Lvl 3

'Corporal Jax Fury of the Iron Carnival, yeah, that sure has a ring to it!' Grinning softly to himself, the tall Private moved through the treeline, scanning left and right for any signs of movement.

Camp had been established a little before his patrol, a clearing set deep in a cold dark Forest. The Squad had moved to its jobs, digging a fire pit, finding firewood and water and digging a latrine, with practiced precision. He himself was scouting the area, keeping an eye on the main approaches for any signs of trouble.

Tightening his grip on his Crossbow he crept forward to the edge of the Camp, staring out one last time into the almost darkness, before stepping forward in to the light.

"Area seems clear Corporal!" Saluting Two Bears, Jax took a seat on a fallen log before staring around the Camp.

'The Iron Carnival. Who would have guessed this bunch of rejects and freaks would end up here? Heh! Then again... That is what the Carnival is for aint it? We are the dumping ground for all those outsiders who just don't fit in. And damn proud of it too!'

Sliding the Tower Shield and Greataxe off his back, leaving them propped near by, the Recruit slipped down off his log and sat with his back against it, staring up at the stars now dotting the skies above.

"This is the life..."

We were getting left behind. Said I'd get us started. Hope that's okay! :) We still need to work out nicknames in the Squad Thread but that shouldn't be too hard! :)
