Can you please cancel order 3710494 as well as cancel my subscription to PACG? Thank you. I hate to do it, love the game, just no money for it right now.

Definitely no hench men in the tower of fourth sphere right?

I am wondering this too. Am I supposed to put a henchmen in this deck?

Thanks Vic. Am I wrong in thinking that the word "ally" was missing in the phrase on the card? I read and reread it several times when the card was in front of me and it never did make sense. I even did a search on here for anyone talking about it. Seems really weird that I'm the only one that's noticed this. Makes me feel like I'm crazy and maybe the correct text is there, and I just misread it over and over.

I just ran into this guy today and I can't seem to understand what his power is. I don't have the card in front of me right now unfortunately, but it said something like "recharge this card to and another player draw a card" I assumed it meant that I could recharge him so that myself and another player could draw a card, but it really feels like it's missing a word or two. I wound up just playing him to explore because I didn't know what his intended power actually was.

Would family tomb maybe work for this? I'm assuming not, but still posing the question. If so, you could keep the deck there after the location had closed in case you thought there was loot you really wanted.

Although I am generally a completionist, I totally understand the Promo strategy and don't really feel the need to go and get all of the promos for this game. Having said that, I just signed up for a PACG Subscription starting with WOTR AP2. I tried to find a list of WOTR promos and whether I'd be getting previous ones.

I have the notice that I'm getting the Sweet Dragon Costume with my AP2 shipment. Are there other Promos that I won't be getting because I started my sub with AP2? Just wondering and not too worried if I won't be getting them.

You missed temptation of the big die and chuffy lickwound. They came with the character add on deck.

Rexx, sounds to me like you just want a reason to quit. You're really going to say that because you don't get a discount and promo cards because you buy from your store makes you feel like quitting? As a new subscriber myself I can say that by the time the package gets to me I have paid just as much as you do at your store. But I like the game and the company enough to want to buy directly from them. The promos are just an added bonus. If you feel so strongly about your local store do what people have suggested and buy the base deck and all your accessories there. There are plenty of ways to support both. But your feeling like a second hand customer has more to do about you than it has to dobwith paizo or there business model.

That makes much more sense. Thanks for the clarification. I should have realized that.

Can I take this back to the original question? How can you possibly gain a scale after each of the scenarios with there only being 4 in the box? When you run out of them in the box are you just out of luck? Doesn't seem like much of a reward when it's likely that they'll all be gone after the very first scenario (assuming a 4 player game).

I was just wondering if there was a delay in buying ad2 from places besides directly from Paizo? It appears that it is available here now, but none of the other online retailers I've checked have it in stock. And most of them are saying the expected release is June 30 or later.

Yeah, that's what I usually do too. I also use dice rolls to determine a "random character" like some of the barriers talk about.

Great. Thanks for the quick answer Vic.

I'm getting ready to start the fourth scenario of the base set and had a question about the scenario. It states that when you defeat a bane with the undead trait you can shuffle it into a random location to place a boon under the scenario card. A few questions about this.
1. I assume you can do this with the scenarios henchmen? And if you do this with a henchmen can you still close the location before shuffling it in somewhere?
2. And most importantly, how do you determine a "random location"? I know with the villain you do it by shuffling blessings together and distributing them to the open locations, but if you do that with every undead character you encounter you could wind up with some massive location decks. I don't know how you could do this more than a few times and still have enough time to make it through the location decks looking for the villain.

The magic trait issue came up for me in "The Traitor's Lodge" because the villain Karsos requires the magic trait to defeat. My solution was (and continues to be) to use the Sacred Prism, which can be recharged to add the magic trait to any check by a character at my location.

Playing solo tends to bring characters' health very low so the Prism's second ability (bury to shuffle 1d4 cards from discard into deck) is incredibly useful.

Another solution to the magic trait issue is simply using spells the regular way - Balazar must banish any spells with the "Attack" trait once he casts them, but I rarely cast spells. Often, I just discard them to draw a monster. So I keep a spell I would banish after casting (like lightning touch or cure) in my deck between scenarios and only cast them when absolutely needed.

I can't believe I haven't thought of this. I rarely use any of his spells either and it sucks seeing some spell come up that I think might be useful at some point but I don't bother keeping it because I don't want to banish it. But in a pinch it's better than having 2 glibness in hand, which I have yet to use ever.

I can't seem to find the sotr scenarios anywhere on here to purchase. Am I missing something or are they not available to the public yet? All I see are the s&s season.

So is the idea that you can go to that closed location to continue to explore? Otherwise I don't understand why you would still have cards at a closed location.

I've been wondering the same thing about Balazar. Just never remembered to jump on here and ask.

I felt the same way. This is my very first Pathfinder game and I had a very hard time deciding. I went with Harsk first and really liked him. Just to try out some others I ran a solo scenario with the inquisitor and I didn't really care for her compared to Harsk. I then did another campaign with Balazar and absolutely love his mechanic. I've always leaned towards fighting characters, but really liked the wizard type. He seems to be a great balance of both.

That's really what I thought. It just gives you a way to cycle through your hand without discarding a card. Nice feature to have with Balazar who I've noticed can get pretty clogged up at times. I'm still loving using him though.

I was wondering how the idea of recharging when you reset your hand works? There are cards that state "If proficient with X, you may recharge this card when you reset your hand." I assume that means to recharge it from your hand unused but I wanted to clarify. Is it possible to use these cards and then recharge it and the end of the turn when you reset your hand?

To determine the scenario's adventure deck number, look at the scenario card. If it's a B, treat it as 0.

It might help you to read the check as if there were an "or" in there: "Intelligence OR Arcane." It doesn't care what your Arcane skill is based on.

Thanks Vic. Could you possible clear up the question real quick about Padrig. If we bump our charisma does that add to Padrigs power? Such as using Glibness to add +3 does that then make it: Strength + Charisma + 5 (instead of 2) + the deck number?

Not exactly.

If a card were to say "Add to a check using your Charisma die" that would work. If a card were to say "Add to a check using your Charisma skill" that would work too. But if the card were to say "Add to a Charisma check" that wouldn't work.

Balazar using Padrig is making a Strength check. He gets to add his full Arcane skill (Charisma die + Charisma feats + Arcane modifier), but that doesn't make it an Arcane check or a Charisma check. See FAQ.

Padrig is an example of adding a skill to a check. Glibness in WotR (I believe) now says it adds to a Charisma check. In RotR it said a check using your Charisma die. In the class decks it might say a check using your Charisma skill. Either of those two wordings (RotR or CD) would work with Padrig. But the current wording in WotR does not.

If you are mixing cards from various sets, I'd say you should take the wording on the most recently released card. So you can't make a loophole by taking a RotR card or CD card. (Not that any of us would ever think of doing such a thing!)

Strength would work with Padrig because that is the "check determined skill", so you are making a Strength check.

Also note, Padrig helps with all Strength checks, not just combat. Your melee weapon wielding friends will like you.

Padrig says ". . .add your arcane skill plus the scenario's adventure deck number to that check" So the wording doesn't really fall under either of the "charisma check" or "charisma die" catagories. Ideas? New question: if I am playing the base set is my "scenario deck number" 1 or 0 when applied to things like this?

Second new question: if I come across a boon that has "Intelligence Arcane X" to acquire can I use my Charisma Arcane, or is that specifically Intelligence?

So if you are using Padrigs power and you have a spell that bumps your charisma does that bump your combat roll even higher? (I'm not sure if such a card even exists, just brainstorming here.)

This has been immensely helpful. Thank you guys so much for your help. Now I really can't wait to get home and knock out another game with Balazar.

Balazar is a pretty good fighter out of the gate, as long as you have cards in your hand. You have Padrig displayed. Find a monster, your combat check defaults to your strength die. So, this is a strength check, which means Padrig lets you put a card on top of your deck to add your arcane skill to your check: so, 1d6 (strength) + 1d10+2 (arcane skill). That's close to what a weapon user is getting, if they have a weapon. Discard a spell ahead of time to get your first monster in your hand for an additional d4.

As Hawkmoon notes, Magic Fang also works with this ability.

So when you use Padrigs power it gives you the d6 for strength plus the d10+2 for arcane? I was playing that wrong too. I was using d6 and just adding 2 for the arcane, not adding the d10 as well. That changes everything. I thought I was maxing out at 8 (perfect d6+2 for arcane) going against monsters with a whole lot more power than that.

I was actually wondering if henchmen fell under the "monster" category when it came to adding them to your hand. So If you defeat a henchmen you can add it to your hand?

I saw, but haven't used, the power to discard a spell and add a monster to your hand. I'm sure I will in the morning when I get home from work and squeeze in a quick solo game. I've only played the first scenario and got super lucky with running into the villain early in all three locations (It just hit me as I'm sitting here typing that I totally misplayed that because I'm pretty sure I was supposed to summon a creature with her and I didn't. I was so caught up in how I was going to possibly beat her.)

Can I ask a very vague question? Being new to this I'm very intrigued by Balazar but I am not exactly sure what kind of strategy to take while playing him. He is so different from a straight forward fighter. Any tips on helping me be successful with him? For example how do you ever get your combat up high enough to defeat your first monster? So that's before you have any in your hand to discard and add the d4. I really want to use him long term but I just foresee getting my ass handed to me by multiple monsters quickly.

Great, thanks for the info. I was thinking of "displayed" as "reveal" and not thinking that displayed meant that the card was out of my hand.

Well crap. I've been playing that part wrong too then. I thought with the way it was added to your hand after you drew that it did not count as part of your hand limit. I played a game today with Balazar and had his cohort plus my 6 cards.

I'm brand new to this game so please excuse my stupidity if this is a dumb question, but who gets the cohort if you have multiple people playing a scenario and only one cohort (or any number less than the number of players). I am preparing to play the second scenario with two players and I don't know who should have the one cohort alloted for the scenario, and there's only one copy of the cohort so we both can't have it. Neither of us are playing a character that already has a cohort or I would have just used that to decide.
