Me too.

Bane88's submission. Ong'rag the good natured barbarian.

Ong’rag had lived in Diamond lake his entire life. He hadn’t been born there but left there. His parent or parents, no one really remembered, had left the infant Half-Orc at the town before departing he assumed.

A lovable orphan street urchin, Ong’rag spent his childhood sleeping in alleys behind taverns and begging in the street during the day or occasionally running errands for townsfolk. At ten, he taught himself how to blacksmith and took contract work from Osgood or Benezel.

Now he runs a small smithy , little more than a forge and anvil, on the outskirts of town, charging very little to repair miner’s equipment as the travel to and from the mines everyday. He sleeps in a tent next to his workspace.

He is large, at 6’9 and 311 lbs, his arms are thick and muscular from working the forge and swinging a hammer. He has a weapon, an Orc Double axe that he bought on a whim from a passing merchant. He spends his nights in establishments of ill repute, drinking or gambling. Sometimes though, he just spends the night under the stars.

Ong’rag is a kind hearted simple fellow. Uneducated and unburdened with intellect. He has a winning toothy smile and is quite charming. He deals with anger issues but is not prone to random acts of violence and is more likely to stand up for others that are being bullied. He pays lip service to Kord but isn't the religious type.

He has never left Diamond Lake, but lately at the tavern, some adventurers had been spinning tales that peaked his interest. Maybe he would travel one day.

Do you need anything else from me GM Rednal? Also are we limited to the one submission? I only ask because several other people have submitted ideas very similar to mine.

Ong'rag would most definately be looking to swear fealty to a worthy person or lord. As there are no emperors about. An NPC or even better, a PC.

His desire for glory is something born of youth. In essence he wants to prove that as far as martial skill and honor goes, he IS a samurai. This is something he could overcome by gaining self confidence or learning that friendship and loyalty are more important than personal glory.

I figured on Ong'rag's father being hostile, but since he doesn't really know him, it factors in more on a developmental level as fear of abandonment, and a deep seated loneliness. It also subconsciously fuels his search for a master as that could give him a father like figure and family unit even through service.

Ten Minute Background:
Step One: Elements
1. Ong’rag is a tall and muscular lean half-orc. He stands at 6’7. His orcish black blue hair is pulled into a Samurai’s top not and he favors heavy armor. His eyes are of a reddish tint and his facial structure favors his human ancestry with the exception of his lower fangs, though even those are symmetrical and not overly pronounced.
2. Ong’rag is a fiercely dedicated friend and teammate. He follows the Way of the Samurai wholeheartedly and attempts to act with honor and courtesy in every aspect of his life. Honor is equal with love in his eyes and he pursues both open mindedly. Honor in battle and relationships and duty. Love in life, trees, tea. Life in every breath, the way of the warrior.
3. Born and raised in the lawless cesspit of Urglin, Ong’rag was an orphan and wandered the streets, scavenging when he could. One day as a child, he met a former adventurer, another Half-Orc called Brolg. Brolg had been far and wide throughout his carreer and though now spent his days in drink, he took a liking to the young and curious Ong’rag allowing him to live in his hovel with him. And this is when Ong’rag found them, scrolls and tomes from Tian Xia, whole manuscripts describing the history of the land and samurai’s sword forms and religious practices. This knowledge consumed Ong’rag for a good five years and into his young adulthood. When Brolg passed away, Ong’rag was already a competent swordsman and practicing worshipper of Shizuru. Leaving behind the gloomy city of his birth, Ong’rag made his way to Sandpoint in search of adventure.
4. Ong’rag is a Ronin, through no fault of his own, as Ronin means Samurai without a master. It’s not his fault that he was born into this honorless land.
5. Ong’rag chooses to believe in the teachings of the philosophers and warrior poets of Tian Xia, he has no first hand experience of them.

Step two: Goals
To become a recognized sword master(has)
To earn glory on the battlefield(has)
To earn the trust of his friends and travelling companions(has)
To see Tian Xia and hopefully spend the rest of his life in a country where if he has enough honor, his heritage may be overlooked.(has)
To find love and get married and have a family(develop)
To learn to balance his lifestyle and not seek out conflict(develop)

Step three: Secrets
Ong’rag’s human mother was actually from Tian Xia(Unknown)
Ong’rag found in Brolg’s collection’s hidden secrets about some of the noble houses of Tian Xia(Known GM discretion)

Step four: People
Ong’rag’s parents are still alive, he hasn’t seen them since he was very small and he doesn’t know where they went. But he is sure that they are.
Brolg: Ong’rag’s mentor and teacher, an old half-orc adventurer who helped Ong’rag learn the sword and interpret the language of Tian Xia.(Deceased)
Shalaleu: An elf who Ong’rag met on his travels, they camped together for a time. He is drawn to her knowledge of the world.

Step Five: Memories
Ong’rag remembers the smell of ale on Brolg’s tongue as the old man told him fantastical tales of faraway lands as a child. The horse demons and nine tailed foxes. Ong’rag loved to listen to them for hours.
The feel of burning in his forearms as he gripped the wooden sword in his hands as night fell across the sky and the sun faded in the west. Another day of training finished, he would be up before dawn to begin again.
Learning the sword forms and the way to think. Training himself to become one with the five elements.

This is Bane88's character. I like this alias and must change his stats and what not.

He will be a LG Sword Saint Samurai(Order of the Warrior)//Warpriest of Shizuru

Backstory:
When the Worldwound opened, the Kellid barbarian tribes were forced from their homeland of Sarkoris by the demonic horde. South and west these people fled and among them was a young woman called Onna. Onna’s people suffered in the winter but the hardy Kellids survived and for a time took refuge with a wandering Orc tribe that had come much to far east from Belkzan. Cut off from their homeland and in dire straits like the Kellids, these Orcs put aside their brutal nature and banded with Onna’s tribe. Alone in the wilds, harried by the ever expanding demonic forces, these two small clans fought and survived together.

For years the now intermingled tribes of humans and orcs lived a rough and nomadic lifestyle. Fighting them and losing men to the demons that would come in the night or if they stayed in one place too long, led to a culture of warriors who were fiercely opposed to demon kind and sent warriors when able to aid the crusades against the world wound, thus hopefully taking back their homeland.

At the age of 30 Onna along with her mate, the Orc Chieftain's son Ragga, bore a son who was a strong and fierce child. They called him On’rag combining their names. The boy grew strong, even in a harsh environment and his mother and father taught him to survive and hunt in the wilds.

Now the fear of something gives it power, and the tribesmen who hated the demons, sometimes gave in to their fear and worshipped the demons in secret, hoping to appease them and spare their loved ones. Particularly the worship of Baphomet became popular especially amongst the orcs to whom demon worship was not a foreign concept.

On’rag was a young half orc nearly ten years old. He scouted in these new hunting grounds that his tribe had recently set up camp in. The cool smell of the cold air filling his lungs as he sniffed the air. He walked further on, stay along the banks of a frozen river, the stag tracks were fresh enough, and his tribe needed the meat. A scent caught his attention, and On’rag whirled around, a large orc stood behind him.
“Yyagga? I didn’t know you were hunting this area as well.” the youngling said. Yyagga was a tribal shaman, a large and powerful orc.
“Oh I am little orcling.” the shaman said with a cruel smile.

On’rag woke in a dark cave, shivering and wet, his eyes adjusted quickly to the low light. All around him were figures in red and black robes, he was tied to the floor, white outlines of unholy symbols surrounded him, the scent in the air told him they were most likely drawn from animal fat. The figures were hooded, and he only recognized Yyagga from the large Orcs outline. A ritual proceeded with deep rhythmic chanting. They spoke in a growling harsh language, that On’rag didn’t recognize it. When he tried to struggle, he was held in place by ropes and a strange energy that had started to build. Panicking he tried with all his might as the chanting reached a crescendo, and he broke free, right as a dark energy grasped at him. An explosion of light followed and he ran. Ran from the cave, through the woods in the cold with nothing but his small clothes on.

After a day and a night afraid and alone in the woods, he found his tribe. He explained what had happened to him and that Yyagga had been responsible. His father took some of the warriors and found the cave, now empty and spent several days trying to track the cultists to no avail. When his father returned, he drew a symbol for Onna and said that he had found it in the cave. She identified it as the symbol of the demon lord Baphomet. From that day forward On’rag nurtured a true and unyielding hatred for demon kind in his heart, with a special place for those who worshipped the lord of beasts.

When grown, he left his tribe to join the crusade, and hunt down those who had tried to use him, to change him.

Personality:
On'rag is usually blunt. His form of good deed is more along the lines of merciless destruction of evil than helping the poor or preaching in the street. He is a fiercely loyal friend to those who have earned his trust and respect.

Appearance:

My submission. Still working on backstory. A half orc TWF ranger with the stolen fury trait.

Here is a crunch for my half-orc barbarian. I will work on a backstory shortly. Basics is that he is a classic Half-Orc Barbarian, built for using the Orc Double Axe. Invulnerable rager with eventual cold resistance.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

"All of life is a challenge Sylas Driss." Ong'rag states blandly. "All must rise to it or fall before it."

He shrugs briefly, "Besides I merely delivered an ultimatum, if he wishes to speak, he will stand aside."

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Ong'rag drops into a battle stance, and holds his hand on the hilt of his massive nodachi. Preparing for battle was a way of life. "Stand aside or draw blades. Make a choice." He states to the men at the wagons.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Staring at a fellow Half-orc soldier, Ong'rag says nothing for a moment. His stare breaks off into a shrug and he complies.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Ong'rag sits at camp sharpening his sword. "Jason Argus, speak." he says gruffly.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Oracle/healer for sure, a soldier would be nice, but a crafter may even be better.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

That is totally fine of course! I was just thinking...I'm the threat that emerges from the east lol.

"Very well general, a strong fort is always a boon. I do not count levies as trained soldiers and I do not count trained soldiers as warriors. Jason and I will have our work cut out for us if we are to prepare these farmers for battle against actual warriors, or they will fall by the thousands."

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Ong'rag stares silently at the general. Right in the eyes, taking the measurement of his fellow warrior.

After a moment he speaks. "Very good. What sort of ease can forces be mustered with on the plains? Effective and strategic bottleneck points, or field positions?"

Ong'rag doesn't speak rudely, just to the point and not wasting any time.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Ong'rag bows slightly to the Lord Treasurer, and agrees with Willem, "Yes let us meet this leader of warriors." his face is stern. "I would take his measure."

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Ong'rag cracks a stoic smile. None who went east ever returned. If that was true they either were'nt strong enough and were killed, or they witnessed the glory of the Iron Empire and decided to stay there.

"To the east lies my lands." he says with a hint of pride and perhaps a touch of homesickness. "The Iron Empire, massive and powerful, a land of warriors and artisans. Ruled by powerful warlord nobles and home to a people of fierce heart and strong backs. If this nation or any other becomes a threat to them, they will be destroyed without mercy, but for now, many of the warlords spend time fighting against one another for honor and glory or the favor of the Shogun."

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Sure Saturday, there can be bordellos. A necessary part of any militant country, soldiers need to spend there money somehow.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Read more into order than "right" no rampant crime, no mudering, hell Ong'rag would okay with a psuedo caste system, warriors, artisans, farmers, nobles, beaurecrats, peasants. Think like order and politeness, no crazy evil stuff.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

So long as it doesn't bring capitalistic abandonment of morals or the social loss of honor.

Ong'rag believes in winning, if you can do it with science fine, just don't expect him to pick up a gun....

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Its like feudal Japan but with orcs!

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Oh sorry! I totally didn't notice that I hadn't filled out his profile stuff.

Also vassal of the Iron Empire is all you should aspire to!

Though maybe, Ong'rag will get a big head and start his own empire as Shogun and take the fight back to his homeland.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Ong'rag for ruler! Because who doesn't want a half-orc samurai in charge?

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

"Greetings to you Oskar. I am Ong'rag. I have no questions at this time. I stand ready to depart and bring order to the land." Ong'rag almost forgets to leave off the "For the glory of the Iron Empire!" at the end of that sentence!

He straightens the Nodachi on his back and adjusts the ropes on his armor. "When do we leave?"

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Killing is a way of life for both of us, I just have principles...and am not a sadist. lol.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

"A lofty goal master Saturday, I may join you in culling the weak from this land." There is no blood thirst in his voice Ong'rag just doesn't abide weakness such as instability.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Standing throughout the meeting with the king in his signature stoic silence, Ong'rag lets out a rare word. "Unexpected."

The heavily armored half-orc, adorned in outlandish weapons, checks his tight top knot of hair to make sure it is in order. Muttering under his breath, "A new province for the Iron Empire then."

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Sorry for not posting, I've been sick the last couple days.

M Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager 1 | AC 19/14/15 | Fort +5 Ref +4 Will +0 | Init +4 | Darkvision 60ft. | Perception +4

Dotting, I can help flesh out the Iron Empire more if you would like!

Here, just finishing up the crunch.
