o_O?

sense motive:
Is that what this is?

"'Reagents'?" Oleg says.l, trying out the word the way small children try cauliflower.

Oleg might have some, but if it's not pertinent to farming then probably not.

"Sorry er um, ma'am, you'll have to see if one of the farmers has a horse to spare. All the ones in my barn are accounted for. Maybe try Mister Renault."

Numalar Auritonius wrote:
What is in the towers, anyway? On the map you can only see the roof.

Actually they are just platforms.

"They should only be here for the night and then they'll be off to the Renault place. You are right though I should get back to expanding the place."

Oleg gathers up his hammer and shoves some nails into his mouth and looks ready to get to work.

Scarlet Scarab wrote:
After chatting for a while, Scarlet will ask to be excused. She'll look for Oleg and try to get a private moment with him. "Hey Oleg, is this your ring? We found it with the kobold tribe after we cleared up a civil war."

O_o

"YOU FOUND IT!" Oleg shouts, his fave lights up and he almost swallows his nails.

MISSION COMPLETE!

Then a moment later he returns to is laconic self and says: "Um, thanks." Ring in hand he heads off.

"See what you've done? I'll be sleeping in the my stables soon enough." Oleg complains to the party, gesturing at the nobles who will undoubtedly be sleeping in his bed this night.

"Look at this." Oleg mutters through a mouthful of nails. "It's from the office of the Magister. I was just about to post it."

Earlier at Oleg's.

Scarlet Scarab wrote:

"Fan, you idiot. There's a wolf roaming about and you ran off in the middle of the night?" Scarlet mutters to herself.

"Word only just arrived. Besides, he couldn't rightly pay for room and board." Oleg says. "What sort of life is that anyway? Flittin' about playing music. And did you see how tight his pants were? Bah. Now if he could make nails or heal sore thumbs--that would be worth somethin'."

Scarlet Scarab wrote:

Scarlet looks hard at the picture of the wolf. She tries to remember details about the wolf attack. Suddenly her mind is filled with the image

of a wolf in a suit and top hat, dancing to some kind of primal beat. She breaks out into laughter.

"Yeah, it must've been a rush. Usually the kid who charcoals these things does a fair job though--especially considering the cost of parchment."

"The runner just brought this a few minutes ago. Guess there's supposed to be a big meeting at the Renault place mid-morn. Every hunter in the valley is likely to be there."

At that Oleg shoots a slightly more-sever-than-his-usual-look look at Numalar, Zokon, Celyne and Posh.

Zokon Santyev wrote:
"We should get these people in the ground then, no need to upset others further, let them rest properly. Do you know of a suitable place good Oleg? Assuming investigations have finished?"

"Sure out on the prairie, under a nice big tree." He grabs a couple of shovels from the stable and when Scarlet introduces herself he shakes her hand and afterward hands her one of the shovels.

Zokon:
Oleg moves close and asks in a conspiratorial tone: "Any luck on finding the dirty thief that has Svetlana's ring?"

Oleg warns his wife away. She stays near the door to their home.

"These two here found a pair of bodies up on the South Rostland Road."

"Bye."

Numalar emerges, hair wet, having finished his morning ablutions. He rubs the sleep from his eyes.

"Hmm, bounties, eh? I read the posters... We know the whereabouts of the bandits, at least approximately, but as to the others... what of them? Master Oleg, do you have any idea where we might find a Tatzylwyrm? Or this Tuskgutter, or the Sootscale Kobolds? ...."

"A tatzylwyrm? Hah! Search your dreams first. I only put that one up as a lark. If they ever existed they don't anymore aside from my wife's ring and in banner over Restov! Mind you local lore says the Narlmarches were once thick with them, tiny 20-foot-long linnorns with a taste for naughty children. But if you were to find one I'd pay to have it stuffed and mounted in the trading posts common room. It would make a great conversation piece don't you think? 'Find a tatzylwyrm.' Hah!"

Tatzlwyrm Knowledge (arcana or history - choose and roll only one) DC 20:
Oleg's description matches most stories of the beast which go back to Taldor's last attempt to settle the land 200 years ago (the last large-scale attempt to settle the Stolen Land). Tatzlwyrms are serpentine, green-scaled feral dragonkin. These wyrms have two arms with claws at the end of each hand, allowing them to easily climb trees. A long, powerful, and flexible tail extends beyond these arms strong enough to propel themselves at speed across the forest floor.

Tatzlwyrm Knowledge (arcana or history - choose and roll only one) DC 25:
A tatzylwyrm's breath is poisonous.

"Now Tuskgutter, there's a real monster. I'd ask Vekkel or one of the other farmers about that." Oleg directs you to farmland designated on your map.

Tuskgutter Knowledge (Local or Nature - choose and roll only one) DC 10:
Tuskgutter appears to be a very aggressively territorial male feral pig or boar who has been terrorizing local farmers. Oleg's right that the farmers that have been his targets are probably the best ones to ask for info about him.

Tuskgutter Knowledge (Nature) DC 15:
Depending on his size he probably has a territory covering between 4 - 10 square miles.

"The Sootscales are just one of a lot of kobold tribes that live in this area. They're as thick as goblins are in Varisia, only unlike goblins they ain't homicidal little pyromaniacs, thank Erastil otherwise I'd been burnt out long ago. In fact, I think that's part of the reason you don't see more goblins in the region, that and all the bears. Anyhow, so there's the Sootscales and the Leafcutters and Truescales and a bunch of other clans all up and down the Greenbelt from the Hooktongue Slough to the Tors of Levenies and from here to Mivon. Most are just annoyances, but the Sootscales are a pretty big tribe. We think they nest somewhere along the southern fringe Narlmarches to keep out of the sun."

Kobolds Knowledge (geography or local - choose and roll only one) DC 8:
Pretty much what Oleg told you as well as your own previous game experience has taught you about kobolds (they are small reptilian humanoids with darkvision, light sensitivity, etc... Oh yeah, and they really, really hate gnomes.

Kobolds Knowledge (local) DC 16:

"Don't know if that helps much, but it sure eats up time."

At Numalar:
"I'll put in a order for more drinkables. I have a feelin' at least one of us is gonna need 'em."

On horses:
"Old Sam ain't gonna have anything combat trained unless you're looking to fight tall grass."

Numalar Auritonius wrote:
"What of the two we sold you just yesterday? Have you disposed of them already? Or can we buy one back from you?"

"Sure, it's not like I've had a chance to grow attached to 'em. Keep your money until you get back. Maybe by then there will be more and better to buy."

Numalar Auritonius wrote:

[dice=Knowledge (Nobility)] = 31

Kind of a waste of a 20. Do I know anything else about Renault with that?

Not anything beyond the spoiler tag. He hasn't really mingled with the nobility much of late

"Nah, he wouldn't take a horse. Just the road. He was headin' north outta the Greenbelt. I think Celyne's right. I figure he had enough of all this 'country livin'. I think your secret's safe for now. Though I'm not against you dealing with bandits pronto. It'll only be a matter of time before they come to do the same to us."

"If you need replacement horse you can travel just northwest of here and hit up Mr. Renault. He's probably got a few to spare though like Bokken he probably won't be happy to see you. He's not crazy or nuthin' he just likes his freedom--even though he seems good at bossin' everyone else around. Here lemme show you on your map. There's a few farmers out that way most take their lead from Renault."

"Even though that shady Felton character ran off, and good riddance for that, he at least gave us a rough idea of where to start looking for his old friends."

Oleg explains that John Felton took off as quick as he could after the party left for Bokken's hut. After hearing about your journey he expresses hope that the trapdoor spiders got him.

Oleg gives everyone a really serious look from behind his wife's back....
Intimidate: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 This roll does not directly effect you guys. Use it as more of a gauge to inform your RP.

"They ain't much for fighting, not most of them anyhow and not unless you get 'em desperate or out they outnumber you by a score. I'd have 'em myself if there weren't so many and Svetlana weren't here. There's a few cold-blooded ones in the bunch, no doubt about it. But I figure most of them for common riff-raff, deserters, thieves and others desperate to run from whatever it was they did in more civilized lands to hide out here were no-one can find 'em. Hang a few of from the walls and the rest would get the idea fast. Pass the the butter, will you?"

"Oh, for for all the keys in the Vault." He mutters, then shouts back: "There's work to do woman!"
Oleg grumbles, puts down his hammer and grudgingly joins the party.

"Greetings Oleg! It appears you have hired some help. Are these associates going to be permanent or temporary?"

”Vey ain’ mun.” He says through gritted teeth loaded with nails for the posters he’s putting up (Click on the QUESTS spoiler button to see what he’s posted). He spits them into his palm.

”They’re like you lot, agents of the state. They’re the soldiers I requested months ago.” His eyes seem to shoot nails at the guardsmen. “Well at least they’ll give you more leeway to do your explorin’. Should we be set upon by brigands, I can always use them to stop arrows. They seem thick enough. So any word on the bandits, or that, err, errand I sent you on? And how's crazy old Bokken or did he chase you off?”

Fronar_Gossamar wrote:
Fronar looks around, checking to see if there are any other changes to the for/trading post. "Anything else new, besides your new employees, since we departed? No sign of... shall we say... trouble?"

"Trouble? Hrumph. Just that lot. (indicating the guardsmen) I'm puttin' these up, figure it's safe now." He says indicating the wanted posters (again see the QUESTS tag). "If you got any questions about 'em come see me, though I think they're all pretty self-explanatory."
