I suppose it has been about a week, but sometimes things happen? Even without our bulkier party members though... I think we could handle a few rats. Shall we just head in anyways?
Male Half-elf Bard (Street Performer), 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 15/13/13 | Fort: +0 | Ref: +5 | Will: +4 | Init: +5 | Perc: +8 |
Oberst whispers: "It sounds like something may be behind these doors... I think I smell a rat. Who wants to take the lead?" He readies an arrow in his bow and waits for the door to be opened. Can I ready an action to shoot a rat if I see one?

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 Oberst steps into the room and gives it a quick scan to make sure that there is, in fact, nothing in there. He then creeps down the stairs and up to the next door. Putting his ear to the door, he listens to see if anything is inside. Steath: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

oh wow I totally missed that. It all makes sense now... Oberst relaxes himself. The rat had been eliminated so quickly that he almost didnt even know it had happened. "well... Shall we go find the rest of these vermin?"

I didn't mean to seem rude or anything about it, I was just curious. As I use my gmail as my main email, and it has stuff like my name and work attached to it, I am just more hesitant you know? Nothing personal at all!

"Ah, hell. I doubt a few rats could be much trouble, and that ring looked worth a decent amount. This should be a quick job. After that, as much as I would like to check out those bandits, I figure we should probably report to the Thane as expected, right? Gods forbid we had someone else breathing down our necks..." Oberst flips his instrument over his back and readies his bow as he prepares to descend the stair. He says to the group in a low voice: "I can be pretty sneaky when I need to. I can creep down first and take a look around, but one of you had better have my back if one of those rats shows up!" Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 It would appear I spoke too soon o.O

"Aye, Long Tom, the road is free, as are all who walk upon it! And Askar is right, I suppose it is our job, if it is any ones... I am also up for a little bandit hunting, even if it is a little out of the way. And who knows... perhaps we will make a little coin?" While he awaits Rogthrin's response about the bandits, Oberst leans in towards Askar and says to him in a hushed tone so others won't hear: "Hey... you seem to be pretty perceptive. I find it odd bandits would spring up just when these paths through the Darklands are found. I think there is something more going on here, perhaps something greater than what we were told was found? What do you think?"
Male Half-elf Bard (Street Performer), 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 15/13/13 | Fort: +0 | Ref: +5 | Will: +4 | Init: +5 | Perc: +8 |
"Bandits, eh? Well, sooner than later we must meet with the Thane to see why exactly it is he requests the Society's assistance. I see Rutt on the map here... is it on our way to see the Thane at all? But... if these bandits had a bounty on their head, perhaps we could be convinced to make the trip..." With a wide smile, Oberst takes a seat, placing his pack down and gingerly laying his instrument by his side. "Well met, sir. What is it they call you? Eat and drink to my fill is exactly what I think we all need after the journey!" He is really excited for an ale and some hot food, so much so his mouth is literally watering.

While not the most proficient sailor, Oberst has always enjoyed sea travel. He certainly didn't hesitate at the chance to sing good ol' sea shanties with the sea breezes blowing and the waves crashing along the sides of the ship. Stretching out on the docks, he grins at the thought of some good ale and a hot meal after the trip. "Ah hell, anywhere sounds just as good to me so long as we can get full and rested. Crooked Leg it is."

"Nah, I'm certainly not worried about it. They can't risk loosing my contribution of skills to their 'causes'. I think you know what organization I speak of Long Tom." He winks and gives him the secret Sczarni Bro Fist Bump. "Though I would rather not risk travel through the Jurn forest, I believe Darth should be our point of landing, as Luthgard seems to owe no allegiance to the Thane, whom we need to speak with. And as frightening as it seems... I would really like to see about these 'sidhe mounds' in the forest as well."

Oberst finishes up his research and shares his findings on the towns on the island with the group. "Oh man, these guys kept pretty great records of these towns! Isn't information just fantastic? What did you guys find out? Anything good? Long Tom, if you need I can accompany you to find some ammunition, if you need company on the way to an alchemist or the like... I never quite did understand how you make those damned firearms. Anyways, maybe I could 'persuade' them to give ya a deal, yeah?"

K. Local: 1d20 + 5 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 5 = 24 (other +5 is from scrolls). Oberst continues to study the scrolls a bit as he debates over the details of their journey, and hoping to learn a bit more about the towns and cities of the isle. "Askar was it? I think your reasoning with the moonrods is sound, though I am unsure if we have the funding to afford many of them. The underdark can be a very dangerous place. Besides essentials such as rope and such, I reckon we will need to prepare for many days without returning to the surface. We will need plenty of water and food for sure."
Male Half-elf Bard (Street Performer), 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 15/13/13 | Fort: +0 | Ref: +5 | Will: +4 | Init: +5 | Perc: +8 |
"Well... I guess one shouldn't jump to geologic conclusions." Oberst flushes at his inaccuracies. "What do we know of this Thane? Anything at all? What sort of rulership does he have going on? I just want to prepare for if we have to smooth talk some a-hole."
Male Half-elf Bard (Street Performer), 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 15/13/13 | Fort: +0 | Ref: +5 | Will: +4 | Init: +5 | Perc: +8 |
Without a word, Oberst stands up and begins perusing the various documents on Yune laid out before them. He is especially interested in the mentions of the Darklands. "I suppose it should be asked; do you this "Sidhe Gate" is closer to Darth or to Luthgrad? Either way, it looks like Darth is a bit more secluded in the inlet there. Sounds like it would be a bigger city, unless I am mistaken? So that would be my vote." "So what exactly is it the Society would like us to do in regards to securing this trade route? Do we have any idea of a contact there, or are we on our own there?"
Male Half-elf Bard (Street Performer), 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 15/13/13 | Fort: +0 | Ref: +5 | Will: +4 | Init: +5 | Perc: +8 |
LOL, Helod Oberst crosses his arms and chooses to mention nothing about the note from the Sczarni. Knowing them, it is best to keep their affairs secret. "Nah, besides being told to report here I haven't been told much of anything. I know we are to go to the Isle of Thrune? Though for what reasons... I have not even the faintest... If the tales I have heard be true, I presume you are Theodore Othis? Well met, I am Oberst. Just Oberst..." He gives him a quick smile and awaits the debriefing.

I presume Long Tom and I are traveling together? Unless he wishes to not be. A scruffy looking half-elf stumbles into the room, his boots and clothes showing the well-worn signs of being on the road for a while. His cloak and a scarf are drawn tight around him and a large four-stringed instrument is slung across his back. He shakes off what grim he can and then sits down at a table and/or chair in the corner, awaiting the debriefing. Throwing back his cloak, he settles in and pulls out his instrument and casually being to pick some spanish sounding arpeggios and hum and his eyes carefully dart about the room, taking it all in. (sigh) "well, Long Tom, I hope this meeting passes quickly. I do hate the formality of these things..."

It certainly happens time to time. A week or two back the paizo boards freaked out and no one could log on, and then they got "fixed for about 12 hours", during which time I did a lot of posting (I run several PbP campaigns on here and was playing catch up). Then, the site went down again and everything posted in those past 12 hours got eaten. I was... less than pleased. On a plus side, I haven't had a post eaten since!
Oberst winces as he hears the description of getting burnt and scarred in an explosion. "Ah... that explains why you hate the Chelaxians. I am sorry for your... loss. The Mask looks good though." "Naaah we can play a game for fun, yeah? I was just wondering if you'd let me take all your money this quickly or not." Oberst winks.
Oberst deals Taz in as well. I guess we'll just RP it, since I can't think of any rules that would make a fun game ;p "Ah! Another fine Varisian! Korvosa is a fine city. And getting revenge on those Chelish devils is a fine goal... you boys know how to play '13'? It's very easy..." He sets about explaining the rules and playing the game (goal of the game is to get rid of all your cards. Played with four people each of them getting 13 cards (a whole deck). Go around the table each playing off each other using poker hands, highest play wins round, 2s are high. For example, if someone puts down a pair, that round would be best pair wins, someone puts down a straight best straight wins round, and so on... anyways!) He ponders this new... elf? "That is an interesting mask. Is it a metaphorical thing? Like we all wear masks to hide ourselves? Or... do you need it?"
Anyone have any good 'card games' to play rolling dice? The only thing I can think of is we roll d% to see who gets a better hand, and roll CHA checks to bluff? not sure how we'd win but... open to ideas! Oberst shuffles the cards and does some awesome bridges and a few tricks, utilizing Prestidigitation to change the colors back and forth and flip the cards to each player, smiling the whole time. "Alright gents, we gonna anti up on this one?"
"Folks call me Oberst... I originally hail from the Churlwood, a beautiful place very near and dear to my heart. I spent my youth traveling god knows where all over Golorian, but I have been calling Magnimar my home the last few years. Their libraries are quite amazing, and there is always work to be found... honest and not. And the citizens of a large city are much more... lets say 'willing' to part with their gold for a humble street performer as myself. I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur of stories and tales, with mythologies and religion being my specialty. I do not call any one religion my own, I believe you are all simply on different paths towards the same goal, though I would love to talk with you more of your beliefs one day, Helod. But while we wait here... who would fancy a game of cards? How about us Varisian boys show these folks how to play, eh Long Tom?" He puts away his dagger and pulls out a very well worn deck of playing cards that you can tell was probably beautiful and colorful at one point before it saw years of use.
Picking his fingernails with the end of his dagger, Oberst looks up with a smirk: "Quite a premonition there, pal, to wish us merry evil adventures. But I think I'm picking up what you're puttin' down. I hope the Dawnflower shines bright on us, I hear this island is full of nasty stuff. Where are you from holy knight? Doesn't seem like yer from around here, is you?"
Interested! Would like to submit Oberst here. I have a bit of tweaking I want to do (change his traits and rework his stats a little bit), but he is about 99% done right now. Oberst is a snarky, a-hole sort of half-elf, though those he deems as friends he trusts with the utmost respect. He grew up essentially on his own on the streets, and is a clever street performer, musician, and thief. His talents include (but are not limited to) contact juggling, playing of a myriad of instruments, singing, cards tricks, etc. But his true love is collecting stories. He joined with the Pathfinders in order to hopefully find some old book or at least hear interesting local folk tales that he could add to his "collection". Gameplay wise, he is a Street Performer Bard with traits so he can disable device. He is acrobatic and stealthy and uses a longbow primarily in battle.
Obert's eyes glint and he looks at the dwarf with a smirk on his face. He is keeping busy by contact juggling three glass orbs, which seem to constantly be shifting colors... Aye, Dwarf... but the world of plants is nothing to scoff at, lest alone one who controls them... all of them. Have the thought ever crossed your mind of all the tiny plant life that exists in your own, stocky, dwarf body? Could you imagine if say... I do not know... that all started growing 10 feet tall? He then makes a gross squishing sound, chuckles, and then once again concentrates on his juggling tricks.
I heard tales that come from far off and unknown lands while I traveled with a caravan of street performers... they told of a strange doctor by the name of Alec Holland. Supposedly the man was transformed into a plant creature due to an unfortunate accident... they call him the Swamp Thing. He has allied himself with the plant kingdom, and is their hammer of vengeance...
Ok I am completely done with the crunch and almost all the fluff... I still need to choose a faction and tie that in with everything but... Here he is! I would also like to say that while it would be nice to play with that group, I care more about just playing ;p Background:
Oberst was born due to a love affair between his Elven noble mother and her human lover. His human lineage was evident upon birth, and his family was disgraced upon realizing his mother's unfaithfulness. Due to her shame, his mother soon ended her own life. His mother's Elven husband, reluctantly raised the boy, though he never truly accepted his as a son or as part of the family. Mostly ignored, Oberst ran away at a young age, though he did receive some years of expensive Elven education, where he found an innate talent for songs and magic, and also learned Elven archery and sword fighting.
After wandering on his own, he soon found himself in with a group of traveling performers, and he spent many years on the road, traveling all of Golorion and mastering many different skills of the trade (Trained on many different instruments, juggling, storytelling, singing, poetry, card tricks, dagger throwing, and tarot reading, just to name a few). Oberst soon found he had an innate talent for distancing people from their coin purses, and if he was unable to make enough gold performing in the streets for town folk, his deft hands, clever mind, and some subtle magic could always compensate. Spending so many years with the traveling caravan, he was often around many different and exotic peoples of all races and beliefs, and as such, Oberst believes strongly in freedom, and accepts all religions, races, and beliefs. He strongly respects other cultures, and feels it is important to learn their songs and stories in their native language. Early on, Oberst realized his true passion was for stories and tales of myth and lore, and of course being a story teller. He collects stories like others may collect stamps, and he is always adventuring in search of new tales and songs from distant lands and races to learn and spread himself. Being raised partially by Elves, he also has a great affinity for nature, and although he often finds himself in the city, he always feels more at home in the wilds. Defenses:
