Looks like things are winding down here. Whatta say we set closing time for this Saturday so that we can start the New Year with a bang? Kinda silly to keep recruitment going for another week to fill 1 or 2 slots.

I don't know what you mean by "racexp" but the +20 XP we obtained from being a bit seasoned should not go into ability stats.

The process should be like you made a starting character. Stop. Then added on 20 XP to "level up".

Happy Life Day everyone!

Forgot to update the one on the profile last night. They should be the same now. Way to keep your head on a swivel there Zagulo. You'll make a fine co-pilot. ;)

Nebten Nox, best damn star pilot in the game.

I mean, check out this mug (see portrait associated with handle)

Good looks, fast fingers and quick to the draw. Not that I need to resort to violence. That's what rapier wit and big friends are for. Of course, I would rather be flying. A man, his ship and nothing but the stars in between. Being a space jockey is the ultimate form of freedom within the new Galactic Empire. Sadly, freedom doesn't come free and there is always somebody trying to make a few credits off your head.

Nebten's Sheet

Smuggler (Scoundrel) filling the Pilot slot. Can be a backup Face. May dip into the Pilot or Thief occupations depending on the party's make up. Full background is written on the sheet.

Be warned, Music is Played Loud. Captain's Orders.

Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. This is a path to the Dark Side, yes.

You think they would ever show/imply a wookie ripping somebody's arms off? I think it was done in one of the books...

Everybody died of laughter? =v)

Please don't allow F&D.

I think I'm picking up on what you are laying down, Yorick.

So let's say we start with a wookie Force warrior. But we can't call it The Force because the Empire says The Force is evil. So we'll say he's Tainted.

If my character (Neb) wanted to become Tainted, he would then have to kill the wookie. There can be only one after all.

After killing the wookie, Neb would then absorb, no, suck the furry wookie Taint of the fresh corpse. Then he would have UNLIMITED POW-WAR!

I think that is what you just said, Yorick, reading between the lines and all.

I got your force-using wookie right here, fuzz-ball. *crotch-grab with a kidding wink*

I knee jerked when I said I was aiming for Pilot, as in the background. I most likely won't go that route because the Talent tree is almost all for Piloting. Unless there is a healthy amount Piloting/Driving need in the adventure, I would probably be aiming at Smuggler or Thief with ranks in Piloting. Maybe Gambler if Fly Causal is allowed.

I may want to dabble in Force Use as written in the EotE CR. I would use the Force as a character quirk instead of an overall character concept.

Excellent.

A majority of your games, Yorick, don't last more than 3 months. How do you plan to avoid this fate? Stick with only 1 game instead of try to run multiple games at once? Maybe not modify the module too much. Is your life stable enough for the year it may take to run this module along with its prologue?

I would hate for this to be a "Rogue One honeymoon" game for everyone.

Already got a Pilot written up and ready to go. Able to modify to the GM's desires and may switch out starting talent.

I run EotE as our home group's secondary game, but we play only once every several months. So I would like to play in this game to stay fresh.

How are dice rolls going to be done? On Paizo via legend. Through a 3rd party dice roller and link? Or Trust Method: roll at home and post what is rolled?

Not really a spoiler, but might be:
While I have not read JoY (I like that acronym), I have read on the interwebs that JoY was meant for more experienced parties. Are you aware of this? If so, are you going to tone down the module or give more XP to make sure the PCs are able to handle the challenges the module provides.

Nebten's Sheet

I'm going to resign from this campaign.

DM ShadowBloodmoon, thank you for your time and effort in crafting this game.

See you all around the boards.

Nebten's Sheet

"I'm sure the Imp's have half of the galaxy in their databanks as criminals for something or another anyways.

"I'm wondering if it would be easier to just go back, get the ship, flying in, assault the palace then fly out. Because we arn't going to be able to zip back to the docking station with a garrison on our heels."

Nebten's Sheet

"I guess we did make arrangements..." Nebten says in surprise as they are whisked away from the starport.

Realizing they took an alternative route, Nebten surmises that his benefactor may have had his hand in the resent trip. Seeing a lone crate upon a rock nearby, it just screams to be opened. Nebten walks over to the crate and obliges its demands.

Nebten's Sheet

"I think that would be a horrible idea. Last thing we want to be doing is getting into a firefight on the ground, then taking to the sky with ISDs in orbit. Hold on, I think I saw some robes in the storage area."

If its OK with the group, I want to use a Destiny Point to allow full body coverings for the wookiees per the Deus Ex Machina option. This will be a good way to move things along. This allowable DM?

Nebten's Sheet

"You guys really think highly of yourselves. Act causal and we should be fine. This gala maybe a way in. Or we can go with some kind of medical angle.

"If you two are really worried, I'm sure we can find some oversized cloaked robes for you."

"Seventy, tell me about the Gerren estate."

Nebten's Sheet

"Hey there Seventy. Can you answer me a few questions. What is the population make up of Chandrila? And what major events are occurring this week?"

Nebten's Sheet

"Hopefully, we won't need them. Afterall, we are just stopping in to say Hi."

Nebten leaves his blaster and lands when instructed to do so.

Nebten's Sheet

"I hardly doubt the Imperial knew there were children involved. They never get close enough when they bomb from the stratosphere."

Nebten acknowledges the greeting and awaits coordinates to land.

Nebten's Sheet

Nebten snickers to himself at Kutishek's last remark.

"I can see how a Wookiee can blend in among the Outer Rim. Especially two Wookiees working in tandem.

"But I have to agree with you about the console incident. There was no way to have foreseen his death."

Nebten's Sheet

Nebten also extends his invitation to conversation to anybody else in ear shot.

Nebten's Sheet

"Definitely lack of credits. Plus an ex-husband. Not my ex-husband, mind you. This girl I was seeing on the side. He found us one time messing around. Then started to blast at us while spouting 'I have the death sentence on twelve systems.' I got off one shot. I thought it hit his face, but he kept coming at me like an enraged nerf. I was able to escape will little more then my blaster and boxers. Do you know how hard it is to find an clothing store in the middle of the night?

"So I decided to find one of those systems to hide out & make some cred. Actually now that I think about it, I don't believe Zynep ever said 'ex' when talking about him.

"How about you Caleb? You appear to be a man of simple means."

Nebten's Sheet

OK, but everybody playing the dark, brooding, silent PC doesn't work in RPGs. Kidna defeats the point.

And I'm not asking for conversing like long time friends, I'm asking for adding flavor to the storyboards. There are many ways to do that besides not posting. Stagnation kills games.

We are going to have to suspend the paranoia a little bit. After all how many games have you been in where the party, that doesn't know each other, are sitting around a bar when a raven haired woman burst through the tavern door requesting help. Or you are at a festival and goblins attack. Or you are asked to map out unexplored lands with 4 other people you've never met.

Nebten's Sheet

Sadly, this appears to be more of a roll-play group instead of a role-playing. I can't do all the heavy lifting by myself. Does anybody else want to inject some flavor to the campaign or shall we just have the DM pull us by the nose from place to place?

Nebten's Sheet

"Pushing Moll any more might not be a good idea. After all we just met and this is our first date. No need to get frisky. I'm a gentleman after all.

"I'm not too worried about somebody tracking our search. We are just interested citizens wanting to know where a senator will be this week."

Nebten readies the ship for a hyperspace jump to Chandrila and engages. As the spacelines begin to emerge, music begins to pump through the comm system.

"OK folks. This one is a classic from the pre-Clone Wars era."

Round round get around
I get around

Nebten's Sheet

Thanx for doing that DM. I'm sure that will help out everybody in the future.

is there any check I can make to try to get more speed out of the hyperdrive?

Yes there is, if make an Hard (PPP) Astronavigation check, it will allow you to plot a faster course, but wary of the mistakes...

Isn't PPP a bit harsh? Typically a well known planet is an Easy check. Then with every Advantage there is a chance of reducing time. I'm assuming we are not rushed nor damaged.

p. 104 & 246 from EtoE CR

Nebten's Sheet

"Good job you two. I knew you had it in you. Now the question is: do we have to make it there before this event or just wait until he's had his little meeting and wait for Imps to leave before rolling in and saying 'Hello'." Well, I hope they leave ...

Before wanting to push up the schedule, Nebten will wait for the party's input.

Can Neb use the Astrogate roll he had in his previous post? He's waiting to see if its imperative for us to arrive sooner before pushing the ship.

Nebten's Sheet

Core Worlds Simple GG vs P: 2d8 + 1d8 ⇒ (5, 6) + (6) = 17 Net: Advance
Core Worlds GG: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 7) = 13 Advance, Success
PPP: 3d8 ⇒ (5, 6, 1) = 12 Threat x2

So I guess I got the second one but not the first.

Nebten returns to the Marauders' Moll.

"OK, so the guy who runs things around here is Gerren Jalma. I've heard things about this guy. It's obvious that he's is stinking rich, but he wasn't born into it. He worked his way up from many low level and many not so legal jobs on Chandrila. Jalma ran into a bit of luck with the collapse of the Republic and has been banking on those fortunes ever since. While he keeps his true worth secret, everyone knows he can afford almost everything. He has been known to have dealings with Imperial Senators, Hutt Crime Lords and everything in between. It is said there is no pocket his money can't reach. Lucky us, so let's find the bottom."

Nebten makes his way toward the cockpit.

"Unless anybody wants a second round at the buffet, we are going to be on our way. Kutsy, make sure this Jalma's mug matches up with the man we saw on the holo. Also make sure he is currently on Chandrila, not on Coruscant for a business meeting. Got the 'Nav ready, Zey? Let's get out of here."

Unless anybody else has any business on the Jade, Nebten will prepare to depart from the Jade. With Zey's assistance he will punch in a course for Chandrila (unless Kutishek's search brings another location).

Astrogate YGG: 1d12 + 2d8 ⇒ (4) + (6, 7) = 17 Success x3, Advantage x2

Nebten's Sheet

"Yes, but no. Bodyguards say 'Stay away from me.' Nothing draws attention more than not one but two wookiees walking around together."

Nebten then turns to Kutishek. "You seem to know your way around a ship. How about computers? Check out the HoloNet about our benifactor, or maybe slice into some surface layers of the ship to see if we can get a name of this guy."

Nebten then tries to find the protocol droid that escorted them around the Jade or at least some docking crew.

"Hey, so who owns this carrier?"

Nebten's Sheet

Nebten is about to prep the AstroNav for take off when an idea hits him. He then makes his way to the common area to share his thoughts to anybody who will listen.

"Our benifactor said that the Jade Empress is his ship. Who wants to hobnob with the staff and guests to see if they know this guy? Maybe a little slicing to at least to see who's name is on the title?"

Nebten's Sheet

OK, for some reason, I thought my PC was not trained in Astrogate. It appears he is.

The question is though, what is better? 3 Greens vs 1 Yellow & 1 Green? I guess the Yellow is always nice since it has a 1/12 chance for a Triumph. But more dice could mean more Successes.

Another issue that I just thought about was assisting during PbP. Skilled Assistance appear allows the primary roller to upgrade his dice depending on what the assisting person has to offer.

So I guess with the Astrogate roll: Zeylud and Nebten dice pool would be YGG, right?

But that is hard to augment after somebody rolls.

Zeylud just rolled 3 green. I could upgrade one of those greens to a yellow, but if that roll doesn't go right, then the party is looking down at me for butting in after knowing the results. Or do we just want to do a blanket booster die whether trained or not so that we can keep the game running smoothly.

Thoughts?

Nebten's Sheet

Nebten eases into pilot's chair before remembering something in his inside right coat pocket. He pulls out a magnized placard and slaps it on the console above him so that anybody who enters the front cabin can see it.

MUSIC PLAYED LOUD!
Captain's orders

Nebten then turns on the comm and clears his voice.

"Good day, crew. This is Captain Nox speaking. As we are going through our final checklists, please make your way to your assigned seats. In case of interstellar altercations, I would like the following person to fill the proceeding role:

Caleb: Gunner
Kutishek: Engineer
Tarkazza: Auxiliary
Zeylud: Co-Pilot.

Speaking of Zeylud, can you come up here and help me with the AstroNav. You had a good idea about seeing where this ship may have came from."

Nebten then places his boots on the dash and begins to flick some switches errantly.

Nebten's Sheet

Command: Edit Ship's name: Marauders' Moll

Nebten's Sheet

OK, I guess it was supposed to be "moll". A 1920's gangster female companion.

I always think of Gretchen Mol from Rounders with that term. She's got a bit of '20's glam to her.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Nebten's Sheet

Nebten plops into the captain's chair and begins to fill out the BoSS registration form.

Captian: Nebten Nox
Ship Name: Marauders' Mol

"Now let's get this show on the road."

Nebten's Sheet

Having seen what the ship's shilouttee looks like, another vote is for Terrapin's Wrath.

Nebten's Sheet

Blue Harvest
Marauder's Mol
Enigma's Mystery
Umbra's Shadow
Century Hawk

I'll think of some more later.

Nebten's Sheet

"Excellent idea there, doc. You look smart enough to work your way around a NavComp or any comp' in general. See what you can find during check-out."

Nebten's Sheet

Is Zeylud going to be joining us? He's posted on alts elsewhere, but not here in nearly a week.

Nebten hands Tarkazza his collection chit.

"Would you mind picking up my blaster since you are going in the direction anyways. That'll give me time to go over the ship with Kutishek in more details. It's the one with Badass Motherfocker on the grip."

Nebten's Sheet

Nebten seemed to have hit a nerve with his sponsor, so he backs off a bit.

"I'm sure it has a low rate of fuel per par sec. Thanks, Jack."

Turning to the party, Nebten makes a few recommendations.

"Well, we are dealing with what appears to be a Chandrilan noble. I recommend we head to Chandrila. Maybe the HoloNet might have some information on this guy as well."

Nebten's Sheet

"What a piece of junk," Nebten wines.

"I can say that I am surprised. Freedom, eh? Maybe more like Falling Apart. Is anybody opposed to Glory Hold?"

Nebten turns to the hologram with a pointed finger but a wily grin.

"We'll find you Flapjack. Just don't go jumping around the galaxy expecting us to play 'Wack a Womp Rat.' And you're paying for fuel too."

Nebten then turns around at his crew to see if they have anything else to add.

Nebten's Sheet

Perception: 1d12 + 1d8 + 1d8 - 1d8 - 1d8 ⇒ (11) + (2) + (2) - (3) - (3) = 9
Advantage x2, Success x2, Failure x4. Net: Advantage x2, Failure x2

Give a boost to next person's Perception roll.

Nebten walks over to serve himself a drink. As he turns, he trips on a snag in the rug and spills it over Cullen.

"Damn. I'm going to have to get another drink."

Nebten's Sheet

"Lucky for your SnapChat, a couple of appointments canceled, so I'm free for the next few cycles. I've done worse for less cred. And I get a ship out of the deal. I'm in. Can't be worse then some of the jobs I've done."

Nebten's Sheet

DM ShadowBloodmoon, a god-send for PbP DM's is the Lazarus add-on for either Foxfire or Chrome. I know it doesn't work for IE but not sure about other browsers.

It saves what you type depending on the field in which you type it. Man, I wish I would have had such an add-on when I started PbP DM'ing 15 years ago.

Nebten's Sheet

Nebten fires double finger guns at Caleb when he brings up one of his monikers in acknowledgement.

Pew-pew

Nebten's Sheet

Looking at the other silent aliens Neb speaks up.

"Are you two here on invitation or just the help? I have found in these situations don't go over well if you are going to play the strong silent type or if one is completely sober. So, I would love to know whom I'm working with or a good Corellia brandy on the rocks. Either one will do."

Nebten's Sheet

"The name is Nebten. Feel free to call me Neb, Nebster, Neberama, but only the ladies call me Nebby. My story is pretty much ditto from what Caleb said, but I'm more of a stick man. I would rather stay out of any firefights and, if possible, avoid any Imperial entanglements."

Nebten smiles and laughs at that last part as if its was apart of some silly inside joke.

Nebten's Sheet

Nebten looks at Caleb with a sly grin.

"Ahhh, I see what you did there. You here to see Jack too? I figured I couldn't be the only one who got the message. I usually like to get references before accepting a job, but hey this guy has a little passion. Passion means he wants the job done right and is willing to pay top cred for it."

Looking around the ship and then speaking to nobody in particular.

"It looks like a new line CoreEng yacht transport. Probably owned by some shadow corp to run shady deals under the light of respectability."

Nebten's Sheet

The end cap for dice rolling is [/dice]. You typed [/d]. Simple mistake.

I'm fine if you guys speak Wookie, but if nobody in the party speaks Wookie, then there might be an issue.
