The Exchange

I've never actually done it, but wouldn't vicious and vampiric go together really well?

Or even just vicious and holy for an extra 4-D6 vs. evil creatures.

An Oread wearing the holy symbol of Gorum returns to the lodge after completing another mission for the decemvirate.

He looks around the room, expecting to see the usual assortment of recruiters and half-drunk pathfinders only to spot a giant stone turkey.

I leave for three weeks and come back to this... Do I even want to ask

After a deep sigh, he walks to bar and motions to a waitress.

Better make it a double, looks like it's going to be that kind of day.

Naseem nods at his comrades as they leave the temple.

Nice job everyone, we all survived. Now lets go collect our pay.

Based on everyone else's actions, I'm assuming the lava is NOT high enough yet to require acrobatics checks. If it is, Naseem will hang back, since his jumping ability is pathetic.

After a satisfied smirk at having defeated the devil, Naseem surveys the room. He sees the crowd of people in front him making movement difficult, but his attention is drawn to the idol spewing lava.

Can someone do anything about the lava flow? We'll be roasted alive if it's allowed to keep going unfettered!

He then switches his judgment to resistance (+2 fire resist) casts heightened awareness and moves toward the idol to inspect it.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

perception check to hopefully figure out how to stop the lava flow. If it requires a knowledge religion or planes check, just subject four from the roll.

Naseem reacts to Jinny's statement with a slight shake of his head. He then begins to preach, at first quietly, than with rising volume.

I don't know about that Jinny, Gorum sends his followers challenges so that they might be overcome! We all suffer from the scars of battle and sometimes worse. But the suffering makes us stronger for it!

He continues.

Any gods worth worship will tests, to determine who is weak and who worthy to bask in the power! Some prefer Gods who hand them everything on a platter, just being "nice," but they shall fall when a real test of mettle comes up! It just so happens one of those tests might be right atop those. So lets find out whose, got what it takes!

He then heads up the stairs and motions for everyone to follow him

Assuming no traps, also he will give you all the chance to cast or use pre-combat stuff. Naseem is always eager for a fight, but wants to be prepared.

Naseem quietly thanks Kenza for her help and then looks at Quon and Korum quizzically as they approach the dwarf with kindness.

I was expecting to deal with nothing but cultists and fanatics... I was looking forward to a fight against something that wasn't flying or blocked off. Shame.

While the others take the time to chat, Naseem looks around the room carefully for anything of interest, (this includes anything trying to kill us.)

He then ties some rope his waist and rather sheepishly tosses some of the leftover rope across to the other side to Kenza and Cork.

I'm going to need you guys to pull me across, jumping isn't really my strong suit. He says with a low grumbling voice. We also probably should've checked its body Cork, but I guess we can just move on once I get across.

Naseem's quick scan of the bridge doesn't reveal any issues, however, he stops short just before he steps on the bridge and allows Quon to take the lead.

The construction looks good me, I think it will be fine, but I guess being safe isn't the worst plan

Good idea Quon, we definitely should make sure the bridge is stable before we all cross. Naseem says in an unusually quiet By Naseem standards. voice.

Naseem puts his greatsword away and grabs ahold of the rope that was tied around Quon, prepared to yank him back if the bridge collapses.

Dayum Jinny

Now that's how you handle a foe! He didn't show mercy and he should've expected none in return. Naseem states with a pleased look on his face.

After retrieving his greatsword Naseem somewhat rudely pushes past everyone to the fallen cultist eager to loot the fallen foe.

Let's check his corpse, maybe this damned fool will have something of use. Then we can explore this place.

Loot the body, then inspect the room.

Oh those naive and foolish Paladins. Naseem thinks to himself.
Nothing inspires a quicker surrender than putting a few holes in a foe.

Naseem drops his sword and picks up a longspear from the armory, He moves to the arrow slit and tries to stab the cultist through the opening.

Dead men may not have answers, but they won't be shooting fire at us either! Naseem bellows as spear jams through the door..

Naseem is an inquisitor of Gorum so he's not the "forgive and forget" type, although he will stop fighting if a surrender occurs. I understand the paladin has to show mercy for his code, but it doesn't mean neccessarily Naseem has to follow his lead.

Naseem looks about the room at the oddball assortment of adventurers gathered in the room. One appears to look like walking bullfrog, another seems human, but something is clearly almost animistic about her.

Not to mention the two more half orcs, one heavily armored, the other wearing some ragged robes. Aside from the venture captain, only one person in the room could pass for a common man.

When I was young, I was bullied for looking different. I can't imagine how those kids would've treated assortment of beings. Thank Gorum this mission doesn't require discretion, this crew would be drawing stares in nearly any civilized place on Golarian.

After pondering the makeup of the group and listening to the briefing, Naseem speaks up.

This place sounds miserably hot and unpleasant. I'm planning to buy some fire-ward gel, liquid Ice and a hot weather outfit. Anything else that you can suggest we do to prepare ourselves?

total cost of 192 gold. Liquid is basically alchemist fire but with cold damage. Fire Ward Gel is stuff that gives you 20 points of protection from Energy, in this case fire.

EDIT: I am buying this stuff before we leave Absalom, in case that wasn't clear.

Naseem looks at Danicka with some bemusement, though he is a little annoyed at such a pitiful For Naseem not me! mission offer.

I joined the society to raise money to fight Razmirian corruption of my homeland and soak my blade in blood in Gorum's honor. Negotiating prices for a piece of junk sounds like a waste of time for me.

He takes another swing of ale and says to Danicka.

That type of job isn't really my style. It might help you get a little more experience with this job though. Good luck.

You need to calm down Ms. Raburnus, Assignments don't just come up along every second. It does not mean you're a bad pathfinder. We got through our last mission with relative ease.

He pauses to take a swig of his drink, and makes a quick acknowledge the other Oread in the tavern with slight head bob.

I admit, it's not easy to be patient. I need to make some money and keep my sword sharp ya know.

An Oread with a mean look in his eyes moves slowly, but purposefully to a stool by the bar.

His features soften a little bit when he looks around the room and spots a frail women he recently adventured with.

Hi Danicka

He then turns back to the bar, and orders a few drinks to kill some time in between his next mission.

It might be cheating to use stuff from a companion book, since we all know those are full of garbage. But I've never seen a more worthless item than the Deep Brown Sphere Ioun Stone from the Dungeoneer's handbook.

For the low low price of 10,000 GP, you can have an Ioun Stone that tells you at all times exactly how many feet you are above or below sea level.

Is that ever a piece of information that's relevant? Or does this item exist solely to harass your GM by asking how many feet above sea level your character is every six minutes?

Dayum Yaiho, nice rolls! Gotta love them barbarians.

Naseem lets out of a sigh of disappointment now that Ape has ceased to be a threat.

I was just gearing up for a good fight too, Should've known Yaiho would smash things quickly I guess. He says Not much point in mindless slaughtering a beast. One of you more normal looking folk can grow free that guy. I'll probably scare him back into mindlessness.

Naseem will search the room for anything else of importance while others free the man.

Yea, First time in PBP in like two years, but everyone has been great at posting frequently and moving things along swiftly. The character interactions have been fun too :D

Lol Vogue

Now this looks like a challenge Naseem says with a grin.

With that, he does some quick incantations to cast a spell before advancing forward.

Standard Action: Cast True Strike on himself

Move Action: Advance 15 feet into the room

I'm glad that's how remove disease works I thought I biffed it. Also, I think False Life is a personal spell. so I think you can only give yourself the health.

OK, if there's nothing else to do here. Let's go find that Monkey statue or whatever in the main exhibit.

When they reach the main exhibit, he'll survey the room.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Subtract 2 if heightened awareness has worn off, It lasts 10 minutes.

Course I'll let you guys look at the scrolls. I'm going to cast one though. since remove disease is on the inquisitor spell list.

Naseem is startled by the blubbering man who thrusts the scroll case into his hands. He briefly considering pursuing the fleeing man, before realizing he is far too slow-footed.

Bah, I don't have time for this. You mentioned one of the scrolls was remove disease right? Maybe I can try to use that to help out Zane over there.

He walks over to Zane and attempts to cast the scroll of remove disease.

Caster level check to use the scroll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Caster level check vs. the disease: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

In for a penny in for a pound I guess. Naseem isn't one to make idle threats.

He waits until after Yaiho bashes the cabinet then growls.

Remember what I said about ripping the door off this cabinet! Get out Here!

Strength check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Edit: Lol, nothing like a Nat 20 after a Nat 1. Of course, this presupposes Yaiho didn't blast the door to bits in one strike.

This is getting ridiculous. There are no monkeys here. I want some answers. He thinks.

Naseem moves up to the cabinet and bellows.

We are not monkeys! We are with the Pathfinder Society who have been sent here to clean up this mess. Now get out of that closet and tell us what the hell is going on here!

He bangs on the door a couple times.

If you don't come out and talk to us! I'll rip that cabinet open, drag you out and beat some answers out of you!

Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Lol, I thought he bellowed. I guess he squeaked.
