I may not serve Asmodeous, but I do serve a LE god, I wonder if I can use that to my advantage somehow Nareth steps in front, inclining his head slightly. "Good eventing sir, we are guests for the reception who are late and probably in trouble if we don't get in soon. That being said, we would like to keep our entrance somewhat quiet so they don't hear that we arrived at this time." Nareth subtly flashes a few gold pieces Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
There's always the shut in bookworm. Scared of talking to people and confrontation, but if asked knows more than a dictionary. Becomes a stutter machine if a girl talks to him. Also there's the "great mind who hates people." When meeting new people it's a pain to just get him to shake their hand, but he's a tactical genius. Just a few ideas, if that helps at all
The pale human goes over the people they'll have to deal with. As he walks there's a rustle of chains. He absentmindedly scratches at the scar down his cheek. "Lot of ways this can go wrong, especially with the factor of the unknown. We should make some signals so we can communicate subtly if the need arises."
Ok, and it looks like the rest of the party is neutral so unless somebody has a specific crux against Zon-Kuthon or self inflicted pain I think I should slide in smoothly. I remember the game I joined with him that had two paladins and a LG sorcerer...boy that one took a lot of talking. Do we know when we're going to start?
Just so I know, what kind of alignments am I dealing with? Nareth is a cleric of Zon-Kuthon, but his practice is very humble. He believes he has been cursed with the power of an evil god and his fate is to carry the burden of the Midnight Prince's expectations. All of the pain Zon-Kuthon expects Nareth inflicts on himself, appeasing his deity in a way that doesn't effect others. Unless asked or if you recognize a spiked chain as Zon-Kuthons favored weapon, you won't really be able to tell he serves an evil god until he channels negative energy.
Sounds interesting, I don't know much about the campaign but it seems good. This is Nareth, a level 2 cleric of Zon-Kuthon. His short background betrays the depth of the character, he's somebody that I've run for years in local play and have just recently brought into the PFS fold. He's LN and takes the demands of Zon-Kuthon upon himself, so he doesn't clash too badly with good aligned party members. Also due to his subdomain he can heal party members with negative energy, and while it still makes him less of a healer than a positive energy cleric he's more versatile. Thoughts, comments, etc? I can give you a more in depth view of his background and personality if you want, he's a very complex character. Also, how is the party makeup? Rp'ing, alignments, races, combat roles. Just curious
Pale and still, Nareth feels his anger rising You really are a sick sadistic bastard. His face changes from his normal passive calculation to one that seethes of hatred. He looks at his hand and the scars reaching up, then makes a fist and looks at the wall. He stares at it for a moment, then lets his hand go limp and sighs No, stay calm he takes a breath and slides down the wall, his face changing to normal again
Nareth listens quietly to the talk, and when they away from the prisoners and talking he also remains mostly silent. When Sergei mentions his deal with the Stag Nareth snorts "If you have ever been to hell you wouldn't say that. I think we'll have to assess the situation when we reach the Stag Lord before we can decide on a plan of action, we are assuming too much right now. As for the prisoners, I think we should take them with us"
Confession? Well I'm not sure how it will effect your soul, but I can tell you it will probably help the condition of your body for the next few hours huehuehue, me and my Zon-Kuthon And yes, I have a rather high sense motive if we ever need it (seems these bandits are pretty honest for now) Nareth quietly listens to the bandits stories, maintaining eye contact and occasionally nodding. To the first bandit "Bards are quite the miracle in this world. They live for music, they share the past, they spread knowledge, and they can raise spirits that none others could. It is an honorable proffesion to aspire to" Second bandit "You over-reacted and made a mistake, perhaps you should have hired protection or tried talking to authorities; although I know those both come with problems of their own. The question is: Can you forgive yourself? Can you turn your back on this life and go back to becoming a hunter of animals instead of man? Think on it" Third bandit "Born into an unfortunate situation, I can personally sympathize with you. You have a talent though, and scribes are always useful. Being a wizards scriber can make you rich" Nareth gathers all the bandits together "We are going to bring you back and put you on trial, but for being cooperative I am going to put in a good word for you. If you manage to convince them you can lead a normal life, perhaps you can return to one. I'll make sure they give you the chance to talk"
As Hammas walks in with Garm, Nareth heads over and takes her in a surprisingly gentle cradle, then listens for a heartbeat "Shouldn't be too difficult, I'll need a bit of time though" "Roga and I haven't bothered trying to interrogate them yet, and they haven't said anything of their own accord either"
Nareth smiles "And I thought I was the pessimist. No, I believe they are a little more resourceful than that, and some of them are so determined I don't think death would stop them. You'd be surprised how much death can't stop" he looks lost in thought for a moment "Yes, quite he haul indeed. Hmm, I've never been much of a carpenter but I'll see if I could help" Nareth begins helping Roga repair the wagon, but makes sure to constantly check on the prisoners, including occasionally checking if their bonds have been altered in any way
