Myrdul lopes alongside the others, sometimes jogging, sometimes walking, his long legs eating up the miles. He'll bring up tactics with the others, going over various strategies, and is eager to see what lies ahead.

I believe we want to get there asap to take them out before they worry about their missing bandit buddies. I'm pretty sure the group will avoid confrontations and if you want to roll day and night at the same time, I think that's fine with us.

Myrdul watches Joanna next to the horse, looking from side to side to see if he's the only one watching. She is quite comfortable with that animal. he thinks to himself. When the repentant bandit divulges the information they seek, Myrdul gives him a silent and serious nod of approval.

He'll head out with the others at a brisk pace, making sure everyone is ready and accounted for. "Come, let us end zhe bandits for good." he says with obvious excitement.

I added the 65gp to the *spreadsheet.* Also, sweet use of the spell Joanna! Brilliant! (especially if it works) :)

Reposting for redundancy

KINGMAKER GROUP A - EQUIPMENT SPREADSHEET

I've included a tab for each of us on the spreadsheet, as well as a communal "packhorse" tab for combined loot, shared resources etc... Basically stuff we're putting on the packhorse. I haven't filled out the equipment for y'all on your individual tabs, mostly because I wasn't sure if you'd use it or not. If you are going to use it, I can fill out the info for your character (or you can). If it's not something you think you'll use, then leave it blank. :) Cool? Cool.

Myrdul acknowledges Derakor's offer as well, inclining his shaggy-haired head a bit. He puts the combined rations they acquired into the packs of the packhorse they're bringing along, and decides to place the remaining arrows in as well.

Outstanding questions for the GM
1. Location of the Bandit Camp
2. Numbers plus breakdown (Warriors, magic-users, clerics etc)
3. Terrain, best approach, any guards or lookouts along the way
4. Shonden's has a knowledge (religion) out there for the silver amulet.

Nothing to add from me about questions, but I did complete the equipment spreadsheet for us. I've added a link to the bottom of my profile page, so you can find the link there if you lose it.

Myrdul stows the things he's collected from the loot pile in his pack, having a little trouble with the bow until watching Shonden and Joanna to see how they stowed theirs, emulating the way they do it after several clumsy attempts. "Zhank you Shonden. You are good man. Zhe more ve speak, you seem less and less like small man." and grips the Paladins shoulder strongly in a manly expression of camaraderie. As they prepare he is sure to approach Oleg, "Zhe bandits vill not have chance to return here. Myrdul examines all the loot carefully, checking for quality and to see if any of the equipment interests him. He'll set aside the trail rations, alchemists fire, composite longbow w/arrows, and one extra longbow.

Giving the longbow (regular one) a few experimental pulls, looking like quite the rookie. He gives a sheepish look to the others, "At some time, perhaps vun of you can teach me to be using zhis veapon?"

"I do not ride zhe horsies." he says with finality as he returns to the group after securing the unruly prisoners. You are here to learn from them! he admonishes himself, "...But I vill learn zhe horsy if ve vant to ride." The large man gives the horses a suspicious look, before pushing one bodily towards the stable, "Be moving horsy! Zhat building is vhere you go now. I would like the mwk chain shirt when it becomes available, but I'm in no hurry. Or rather, Myrdul is in no hurry.

I'm definitely in favor of benefiting the group rather than an equal share for Myrdul, and it helps he's not concerned with material possessions. Expendable items for healing seems fairly important to get sooner rather than later, giving our skill-sets. Lastly I agree that getting someone, probably you Derakor, some good gear to soak damage is a high priority.

He has no particular skill in the area of tying knots, but is keenly aware the effect it is having on their prisoners. "So," he starts in a conversational, quiet tone, "have you ever seen vhat happens when a mans neck is in zhe noose? Zhe face of men, it can make so many colors! I vonder vhich of you vill cry first for Momma, in zhe face of death. Vould you like to die vith honor? Glad some decisiveness has been applied to the dispensation of justice for the three remaining bandits. It is three bandits still alive right? The leader was the 4th and he's already dead if I recall. Yes? While the young one is being questioned, Myrdul starts to remove the two living, evil and judged bandits to a different part of the outpost, unless someone stops him of course. He is far from gentle, perhaps even knocking their heads together once or twice to maintain quiet.

Myrdul, a stormy look on his face, takes a quick stride over to the struggling one, "You are not to be speaking now!" and backhands the bandit across the face -hard.

Unarmed Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 111d3 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Attack roll shouldn't be needed against a helpless foe, but I rolled it just in case.

After putting the mouthy one in his place, he looks to Shonden, "Shonden, can you...?" he trails off and gives the begging bandit a crazy-eyed look, giving his impersonation of what detecting evil might look like.

Myrdul blinks some of the light from his eyes, and then roars his glee as he see's the results of Kalima's impressive trick. Two of the bandits looked all but out of the fight, and the leader seemed to have been injured! He pushes the door closed behind him, then turns to the nearby Bandit (#3), "It is wrong to be stealing!" and furiously swings his earth breaker, Krasa, at the mans torso like he's trying to fell a tree.

As for the skill checks that get lost on the wayside... Ideally you respond to each skill check, that's the best scenario. However, sometimes there's really nothing the check reveals, like a fisherman casting his line without the possibility of a bite. Personally I'm fine with getting no response if there's nothing to 'see', if there's no pertinent result. It's those times the player is really hoping to get some context, or get a result from their check, that a non-response can be a problem. In my experience, if the player felt the check was important to them, then the player will follow up with the GM, like 'Hey, did my perception check of the room reveal anything?' or what have you.

I absolutely agree with Derakor about the GM rolling for the party, it just speeds things along quite a bit. There's as many ways to handle initiative as you can think of. I've had GMs take the average of the monsters init vs the party average init roll, and then let each group go in its entirety. I've had GM's have everyone post their actions for the round in spoilers, and then after everyone's posted, he'll do like a grand re-posting/resolution of everyone's actions in the round. Or you can just have people post when it's their turn, but that is the slowest method I've seen on pbp.

GM Init Rolls - example:

INIT:
Derakor [dice]1d20 + 1[/dice}
Kalima [dice]1d20 + 4[/dice}
Shonden [dice]1d20 + 3[/dice}
Joanna [dice]1d20 + 32[/dice}
Myrdul [dice]1d20 + 2[/dice} +1 if standing on my head, or whatever. :)

I keep something like this, along with other notes, in a text document saved somewhere convenient (like a google document) and copy and paste it into the game when rolling init for my group. Makes things easier.

I've thought of a thing or two, but really they're just things that I do, and that doesn't mean they're the best things to do by any stretch. I think we'll learn together what works and what doesn't. One thing that's seems pretty standard, for consistency in posting and cause I must be anal; is the use of text formatting.

"Bolded text generally means words your character is saying out loud."

"Smaller bolded text generally means whispering or speaking quietly."

"Bigger bolded text often means yelling, or just a loud voice, like an Ogre or dragon or something."

Italicized text usually stands for specific thoughts your character is having. Like, I wonder what Kalima wore to bed last night Myrdul thought to himself. ... or something more appropriate.

Of course this is considered OOC communication.

Just a couple things I like doing in my games, you can decide if we want to adopt these or not in your game. :)

As the men enter, the thrill of coming battle transforms from a twitter, to a raging maelstrom in Myrdul's gut. Last night the large man kept waking from his sleep, as was always the case before a battle. His hand clenches hard around Krasa, and it's all he can do to keep from leaping into the fray. Remember your orders! he repeats in his mind, trying to calm his racing heart, knowing full well that a warrior who rushes headlong into the fray, against the battle plans of the whole, will probably get everyone else killed along with the fool himself. He expels his breath as silently as possible, and risks a peek at the bandits from the side of the barrel, Four. Krasa bring me honor this day! He then adjusts his legs slightly to avoid cramps, and waits with diminishing patience for the signal.

Myrdul smiles widely as the plan seems to be coming together, but the thought of Joanna the Watchful somehow posing as the owner, Oleg... just doesn't quite make sense to him. She started to sound a bit like the more crazy shamans of his tribe, as did Kalima with her talk of making them sleep, but as with the small man battle plan, he'd reserve judgement until he could witness the results. Stretching expansively, the many visible white scars on his person thinning and contorting as he does so, he hefts Krasa onto his shoulder. "I am zhinking I shall valk zhe valls." and heads out the door. He does a quick walk about of the entire interior of the trading post, noting the exits and access points to the walkway. He gets excited when he spots the war machines at the corners, and tries to see if he can get one loaded, for curiosities sake. He'll take the time to carry a barrel full of nails, easily several hundred pounds, up to his intended ambush point on the walkway. Satisfied of his cover, he heads outside. Keeping the Trading post at his left shoulder, he slowly strolls the entire perimeter, trying to keep a sharp eye out for watchers or other interesting landmarks.

Myrul's ready, his position is placed on the temporary map. I also put a link to that map as a perma-link above my profile picture, for easy access.

Hey DM, I spent a few minutes (probably about 20 or 30) putting this together. If you like the format and versatility of these I'd be happy to make creating them for you a part of my workload lightening contribution.

It can be edited to limit who can move pieces, obviously adding new images and pieces is pretty simple as well, if you have the right tools. Let me know what you think. Also with your email address, I can alter the permissions so you are the 'map controller' and you could divvy out futher permissions.

**Olegs Trading Post**

Future maps wouldn't take nearly as long, but I would need the basic maps images for the 'background' layer.
