Thanks for the invite DM, I'll get Myrdul ready tonight. I'm excited! May I suggest using Google Drive, for spreadsheets and such when information tracking, as it allows communal viewing and editing, and its free. There's others out there, but that's what I use and it seems to work pretty well. Maps in Google Draw have been discussed already, and I think it works great.

Wahoo! Lets make some Kings!

Female Human Inquisitor 1

Joanna reporting in. My profile should be good to go already, I'll check when I get home... if I get a chance.

MAP

I have Oleg's Trading Post map in the forum already but I think I am going to try Google Draw or something as I cannot add pictures real well to my spreadsheet. I like the idea for SpreadSheet or Word Documnet on Google Drive to keep up with loot and everything. I plan to keep track of exp, still debating on normal or fast since we have 5 people.

Shonden checking in. I've completed my profile (even added my horse). I'll post my walk up to Oleg's in the Gameplay tab.

As for map usage, if you find something good, let me know. I've been using PicArt on my mobile to handle map sharing with my group. But it's a constant edit and reedit process...kind of a pain.

So just out of curiosity, what's our group look like? Aside from the obvious of course. :)

1. Derakor Geralvi - Inquisitor
2. Joanna the Watchful - Inquisitor
3. Shonden Entbriar - Paladin
4. Kalima Raustald - Sorceress
5. Myrdul White - Barbarian

Myrdul is mostly a one trick damage-dealing pony, but I'm super excited to play the character.

How about y'all? I could scour your profiles, but I'd rather hear from you guys how you see your characters fitting in.

OR

We could avoid the group analysis and just see how things play out. This is definitely the more interesting (and possibly more entertaining) option of the two...

Thoughts?

Oh also, Myrdul's profile has been updated/regressed to level 1. I took the Brigand trait, altering it slightly to 'Barbarian-style' brigand.

Changes made were swapping chain shirt instead of studded leather. The trait change I mentioned, dropped Dodge as I'm not level 3 yet... Oh, and he was previously a 20 point buy, I upped him to 25. Ministat bar was updated to reflect these changes as well.

Female Human Inquisitor 1

If people agree to post their character role here, I'll do so. Seeing how it works out in gameplay could be just as fun, though.

Male Human Inquisitor 1 - 11/11HP - AC18 (T11/F17) - F4 R1 W4 - +6 Perc - +1 Init - 14 CMD

Derakor is trained in heavy armor and will alternate between 1H and 2H combat, depending on the encounters. Sadly my starting gold didn't let me buy heavy armor, but 'soon' enough his AC should be pretty decent.

I see we got two ranged wonders in Joanna and Shonden, so it is a good thing I get to accompany Myrdul into combat. Our sorceress then completes the assemble :)

At least we got cure light 4 times a day! What can go wrong ;)

Male Human Inquisitor 1 - 11/11HP - AC18 (T11/F17) - F4 R1 W4 - +6 Perc - +1 Init - 14 CMD

Sorry, not trying to be rude - but shouldn't you have 15HP Myrd? 12 from HD, 2 from con and 1 from fav class?

Female Human Inquisitor 1

I've built Joanna as a social skill monkey. Diplomacy, intimidate, sense motive, disguise. Our sorceress will probably end up being 'the face' by the default of high Cha; if that's the case, I'll start spreading out her skills a little more.

Combat-wise, Joanna's probably going to be bringing ranged damage. I'm building her for archery (which I've never tried in a character before; I tend to play stabby rogues). I'll be grabbing her a wand of CLW first chance I get... I'll blow a feat at 5th level to make them if I have to.

Male Human Inquisitor 1 - 11/11HP - AC18 (T11/F17) - F4 R1 W4 - +6 Perc - +1 Init - 14 CMD

The moment you got Deadly Aim and Rapid Shot is the moment you'll start loving archery. Things get ludicrous the moment you pick up Manyshot.

Another great item to pick up would be a stack of scrolls or a wand of bless. I love stacking attack bonusses :)

Female Human Inquisitor 1

I'm looking through the feat chain, and deciding I want more levels, like, now. :P

Now I don't mean to be a pain, but Shonden would you mind too terribly if you put your vocal words in bold? I can follow along easily enough without it, but it does help me and I'm so used to that format on these boards that not seeing the bolded speaking is a little throwing me for a very little loop.

Will do, Myrdul. As for my pc, I'll add my party type within the hour...

MAP

I will get my post up this evening, as it is easier for me to post after work. I prob will start bringing some notes to work with me and sneak in a post or two during the day lol.

Okay, for the paladin, Shonden is a hunter by nature, so he likes to view things from afar, get the 50,000 foot view sort of speak so he can make a reasonable assessment of how to approach a given situation. Now he's not so wise, so not all of his observations are on the mark. For instance, his first instinct upon approaching Olegs was to make sure he unstrung his bow as to not appear threatening. Was that wise in meeting strangers?

Shonden enjoys conversing versus conflict, so I upped his Diplomacy so he can leverage his likeable personality and good looks. Should that not work, then he can adapt.

Same in combat. He'll favor the longbow in homage to his deity, but as the distances close with the enemy, he'll switch to the boar spear then to the pick. He will favor the bow for long distance (Far Shot), and can feel confident firing into the mix (Precise Shot) and then can hold the line in close range firing (Point Blank Shot). As he advances, he'll look to ramp up the archery with Focused Shot, Weapon Focus and Rapid Shot. In addition, he'll look towards inproving his Diplomacy for social occassions and Riding skills/feats to possibly divert into mounted combat.

The rest I think will develop as we play the game.

Sounds like we're going to do just fine, although a little light on healing, but I am confident we'll make do.

@Kalima - I see what you mean about her arriving later. I just hesitate to assume too much about what is available and what we know about the Trading Post, admittedly in part because I've played part of the first module before. :)

MAP

I just posted a little and I have decided that I will bold peoples name when I am responding to skill checks as I dont like the way it looks on my screen. If y'all dont mind the nonbolded I can keep it that way as I want what is best for the party.

Female Human Inquisitor 1

Whatever works for you, GM! I'm personally fine with bolded or nonbolded. Text is all the same. =)

just giving you guys a heads up I am currently working a removal (on-call) and it may be LATE tonight before I get a chance to boot up my laptop and get the PDF off my file. I am truly sorry and I am only on-call one more night this week.

Male Human Inquisitor 1 - 11/11HP - AC18 (T11/F17) - F4 R1 W4 - +6 Perc - +1 Init - 14 CMD

Haha, tall young giants? 1.86/6'1 isn't THAT tall now is it? :p As for wanting a young character, with how ambitious this lad is I figured he shouldn't be much older. I normally prefer starting them a little older.

Female Human Inquisitor 1

Joanna's only 5'5", so EVERYONE'S taller than her, which is going to be hilarious when she tries to pull intimidation. And Derakor's starting age makes perfect sense, I just find it hilarious how the oldest(?) character is also the party shortass. (As a sidenote, the real me is 23, and 5'10" in Docs, so yeah, to me, 6'1" isn't absurdly tall. My boyfriend's dad, on the other hand, is 6'5", which still spooks me after three years...)

Male Human Inquisitor 1 - 11/11HP - AC18 (T11/F17) - F4 R1 W4 - +6 Perc - +1 Init - 14 CMD

I'm only .. 1.78, which is roughly 5'10 .. in real-life, but here in the Netherlands that's considered short. I used to play in a band with four guys of who three were over 6'3 xD the other was about 6'0.

STR 17 in itself is absurd though - my character can lift more weight than the world champion weightlifting. No problem, right? Though my dad who's the same height as I am is as strong as a bull and not built like an Arnold. Apparently William the Conqueror, the Duke of Normandy, was able to wield two battleaxes at once with considerable skill. The strength and stamina needed to be able to pull that off .. and guess what, he was around 1.78/5'10 :p

Male Human Inquisitor 1 - 11/11HP - AC18 (T11/F17) - F4 R1 W4 - +6 Perc - +1 Init - 14 CMD

Here's some of Myrduls stats

Height : 6',4"
Weight : 225 lbs
Eyes : Brown
Hair : Black
Age : 33

He's actually middle-aged, and looks it from all the exposure to the sun and elements he's experienced in his life. I keep intending to post an appearance post, but obviously have not gotten to it yet.

Female Human Inquisitor 1

I keep intending to draw my characters. It isn't going so well. >.>

I've tried drawing my pcs in the past, but stick figures just never do them justice!

Ahh, the gauntlet has been set. I'll have to dig through and find something cool for my pc too!

But the pic is really cool.

There are a lot of familiar faces yes, but I figured it was worth a link :) sometimes the right picture can really bring a character to life in your mind. Right now I'm making a backup character for my saturday game based on this dwarf. Gentleman explorer!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hey DM, I spent a few minutes (probably about 20 or 30) putting this together. If you like the format and versatility of these I'd be happy to make creating them for you a part of my workload lightening contribution.

It can be edited to limit who can move pieces, obviously adding new images and pieces is pretty simple as well, if you have the right tools. Let me know what you think. Also with your email address, I can alter the permissions so you are the 'map controller' and you could divvy out futher permissions.

**Olegs Trading Post**

Future maps wouldn't take nearly as long, but I would need the basic maps images for the 'background' layer.

Male Human Inquisitor 1 - 11/11HP - AC18 (T11/F17) - F4 R1 W4 - +6 Perc - +1 Init - 14 CMD

That's damn handy. I remember trying out pbb games some eight years ago .. computers and the internet have come a long way :p

MAP

Myrdul you are freaking amazing that is all I am saying lol

MAP

so just a quick check in, since this is my first game DMing a PBP how am I doing so far. Also what can I improve on? You won't hurt my feelings I feel like I am with a GREAT and really knowledgable group. The one thing I know I need to work on is making sure I answer all your skill checks as I have forgot some because I get excited and am ready to move on lol.

Male Human Inquisitor 1 - 11/11HP - AC18 (T11/F17) - F4 R1 W4 - +6 Perc - +1 Init - 14 CMD

It's decisively easier if you roll initiative for everyone. If player A and B are before the monsters are and C and D are behind, A and B describe their round first. Then come the monsters and then the 'entire party' gets to go. Posting in order of initiative is next to impossible .. :p

and so far so good! ^_^
