GM: Mjesecar will give a sample sentence in Hissla, Nightspeak, and Umbral. Hissla probably shares features with Draconic.

GM: "Yes, that's correct. I have a connection with those who have departed from this life. If absolutely necessary, I can call a portion of their spirits to aid me in my endeavors for a short time. When your spell wears off, how do you propose we communicate? I've never met someone from another world and lack much linguistic knowledge."
Avatar Death Mage
GM: Mjesecar frowns. "Well, in that case, what does the parasite look like? Forewarned is forearmed, after all. By the way, how long will your language-matching spell last?"
Avatar Death Mage
GM: "That sounds quite terrifying. Is there a way to identify infected creatures?"
Avatar Death Mage
GM: Mjesecar relaxes slightly as the creature appears friendly but stays wary. "Greetings to you as well. I'm not exactly sure what happened or where I am. I went to sleep in my bed and woke up in this strange place. If you had something like this happen too, perhaps we can work together? I, too, am a mage but am unskilled in the healing arts. Who was tracking you? Are we in danger?"
Avatar Death Mage
We'll see how things go whenever I get to meet up with everyone else. At the moment, I'm a naked black Kobold with a small army of Shadows. :-)
Avatar Death Mage
@GM: when my shadows kill something, will they create spawn? If so, what happens when the summon duration expires?
Avatar Death Mage
GM:
Wha..? Now I'm confused ... and am starting to feel bad about almost killing it.
Mjesecar makes soothing "calm down" motions at the creature. He then steps closer to the shades, gestures grandly, and tells his companions to retreat... GM: ...out of sight, hide in the walls and floor, and come back but remain hidden.
Once they're gone, Mjesecar smiles and points at himself. "Mjesecar." He then points at the spider creature.
Avatar Death Mage
GM: With a sibilant hiss, Mjesecar commands his shades to pause their attack and move to shield him. (Readied actions to attack if the spider monster makes a hostile/threatening move)
In Umbral, he issues a command. "Surrender and explain yourself. Otherwise, my friends will kill you." As he speaks, he attempts a crude pantomime. *point at alien, raise hands over head, point at alien again, shake head, point at shadows, move hand across throat*

GM: The shades continue to attack while Mjesecar attempts to identify the just-cast spell.
Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18STR Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21STR Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3 Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14STR Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Spellcraft: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
Avatar Death Mage
GM: The shades silently continue their assault.
Shadow Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8STR Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Shadow 2 Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15STR Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Shadow 3 Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16STR Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

GM: Am I able to cast spells? What about SLA/Ex./Su. abilities? If so, did the detect magic I cast earlier indicate anything? If not, ignore the following
Taken aback by the spider creature's callous disregard for life, Mjesecar takes it upon himself to avenge the flaxen-haired being. With a thought, he summons a trio of shades and attacks!
Mjesecar Stealth: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23 (Summon Shadow doesn't require motion or sound, so I should be able to do this. Even if it did make noise, I would think being unexpectedly attacked by shadows would count as "Create a Diversion to Hide". (-:)
Avatar Death Mage
GM/hallway: Staying as far as possible from the open door, Mjesecar cautiously creeps along the hallway toward the flaxen-haired creature's location.
Avatar Death Mage
GM: Extremely confused but with no better options, Mjesecar cautiously steps into the hallway. did my detect magic work? Can I even cast spells right now?
Avatar Death Mage
GM: Mjesecar slowly blinks his eyes open and immediately closes them again in pain. so bright! It takes him some time before his eyes adjust. i need to find shelter...my poor retinas! Desperately, he attempts to crawl into the shaded area under his cot. Finally able to calm himself, the black-scaled Kobold carefully examines his surroundings through squinted eyes as he attempts to make some sense of the strange voices. (also, detect magic on the entire area)
And with that, I'm off to bed. I'll post when I'm able tomorrow, but it won't be much due to my work schedule.
Avatar Death Mage
Here we go. :-) Just so everyone knows, I'm operating on EST. Also, I work crazy long hours Tues/Thurs, so posting will be extremely limited. The rest of the week's pretty open, though. |
