oh this government computer and its updates. Yesterday I could view the map and now I can't. This is going to be a pain in the butt, but could someone email me the map? I will send my work address in a P.M. If thats too difficult I want to move to a position to get the best affect from color spray. Preferably hitting the 3 guys around Bryn. "Throw down your arms, no more blood has to be spilt tonight!" Mike shouts after blasting the area with his spell. Mike grabs his spear and readies in the event the briggands don't back down.

More wine equals more inebriated briggands and hopfully a bonus to diplomacy/bluff checks. Mike releases the bottle and looks at the arrows that were strewn across the terrain just in front of them. "We are going to need more than one bottle." Mike grunts knowing this is going to ruin all his trail food. Going back into his pack he opens the rest of his ration packs and hands a bottle to the two dwarfs, Bryn and keeps one one himself.

"Bryn lets turst Aldres with this." Mike retorts worrying that the wind might carry his words to the folks behind the rocks. "Just a second on that wine" Mike says dismounting form his horse to rummage through his pack. "I normally carry on with each of my rations incase I can't find fresh water." Working his way to one of the pre-packaged rations he breaks it open and pulls out the bottle of travel wine and decides it's as good a time as any to chew on some of the jerky before giving the bottle to Aldras. "I hope you know what your doing walking us into the lions den like this." Mike whispers before letting Aldras take possesion of the bottle.

If these briggands are within 30ft of us i would like to ready an action to cast blinding ray next time the poke up in an aggresive manner. I'm keeping my bow stowed on my back but do have my shortspear in hand. Mike comforts his mount while he wonders if Aldras's bluff would work. Its a good bluff Mike thinks to himself but has concern if those fellows with the bows ask for proof. Mike takes action to give them a better chance of avoiding some fire if they decide not to play Aldras's game. "Breggal, Ulan, Bryn. Would you three be so kind to bring your shields to the front.?" Mike asks the bettered armored members before starting to murmer an incantation.

GM:
Hey good sir just checking in like you asked. Here is a list of what I have done during the downtime. Hope you got my PM explaining why I have been absent. Let me know if there are any issues with what I'm doing.
1: Gave the amulet to Sherlen Spearslayer hopeing to gain some favor with her. 2: Mike sets up a camp outside of a forest near Daggermark to work but returns to Daggermark Daily to perform his Malitia duties 3: Mike trades his MW Compostie short bow for a MW short bow at a loss 4: Mike is going to be sightly behind the rest but will catch up with his own horse before the encounter. horse and riding saddle purchased with money gained from his proffesion. Previously on Ordinary Heroes:
Mike takes his leave from the Dwrafs at the end of the day and returnes to the jewler. After hagling out the price which took the better part of the evening Mike finally throws 150 worth of gold at the jeweler. The pendant isn't anything special but should perform the desired task.
The fallowing morning Mike wrapes the amulet the best he can and heads over to the malitia office. On a card he wrights "To Sherlen Spearslayer. This is from the spoils gained from the Blue Feather Lizard tribe of the swamps outside of Cromm's Hold. In this amulet lies the love and memory for all those that were lost in that raid. Display it boldy and proudly in there living memory. Your Faithfull servant Mike Carpen of Two Creek Hamlet. Satisifed with what he did Mike tells the paige that he will be residing in a camp about a mile southwest of Daggermark plying his traid if he needs to be reached. The fallowing month and a half Mike does what he does collecting fur and meat to trade with the other merchants. Occasionally checkig in with the Dwarf's seeing what they are doing and dropping off the a boar to feast with them and the rest of the party if they are available. Before bed he was sure to practice his spells and bowmanship. proffesion week 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
"6 weeks and i can't get the hang of this damn bow. Sir do you have just a regular short bow of equal quality to trade?" Mike shouts frustrated that to composite bow he aquired in the swamp just isn't suiting him. The trader just looks at him confused but is able to offer him what he wants and Mike goes on his way. One morning Mike gets a letter from the Dwarfs describing the task at hand and Mike packs his horst and heads off to meat them. "What a rude bunch." Mikes says to the group. "Not smart though, they could of had us.

DM: With the amount of down time we have is there any chance my character can learn any knew spells from the library in the daggermark or the surrounding area. I also will be producing scrolls throughout the down time. Will have a list of what I plan on making with the required rolls later today. I will also post what i will be doing with the necklace.

DM Ok you used the craft jewelry skill which in my mind is assuming you have to make everything from scratch. I was thinking i was just going to be charged a portion of a profession jeweler check plus a little extra for the setting for the gem. Seeing as a jeweler would have apprentices under him that would do a lot of the busy work making these. so a human commoner 2 with skill focus in profession jeweler and 2 ranks in the skill can get a max roll 30 which is 15 gp per week 3 gold per day. this comes out to a max hourly wage of 37 silver 5 copper on a very good week. 1 pound of currency gold is 50 gp so lets assume 1 pound of gold for jewelry would be twice as much cause it has to be twice as pure. so a chain and setting would not weigh more than 6 ounces so we are back to 50 gp. so a high end guess for the pendant should come out to about 53 gp assuming 1, 8 hour day of work and them not having to provide the gem. add 20% cost to cover payroll taxes and such and 30% for craftsmanship an it would be about 78gp before haggling. Sorry that this got long and technical.

I'm with you on the ruins hunt Ulan. Hey DM could I set up payments with the merchant cause that is an awfully steep price even with me providing the gem. I honestly wasn't expecting anything over 50 GP not almost 1 plat. Mike mostly kept stayed in the background after he and the two brothers left the library. He of coarse introduced himself to there father who said that he didn't mind a half human taking a kinship with his son's. Mike found the statement very odd but didn't let it show. Hey fella's after we tell the rest of the boys the news we might want to head to the dock. Maybe some of the fisher's and river traders know of the quarry or some isolated folks who live up there who might.

Since we have the rest of the day and possibly sometime afterwards i figure we can just take 20 on our rolls unless our DM doesn't want us to. I have knowledge arcana and geography as well as ranks in linguist if there is any unfamiliar text on the map. We also might get a good bonus to the check if we use the library in the city. Mike was pleased by the warm welcome. "It just good to be around friends Breggel. I was hopping you wouldn't mind me spending the day with you two. Besides our troop I don't know many people in the city and riding home now would not be a good idea." "Hello Ulan." Mike replied as he came up behind Breggel waving a the map around in his hand. "I will see what my wizardly ways can reveal." After the pleasantries mike enters the dwarf brothers house dropping off his gear by the front door. "If we can't figure this out here we might find some kind of reference to this location at the library.

Riding back into Daggermark Mike was all too glad to dump the liazardman off with the regular guard and whispers a prayer of justice to the gods. After debriefing and splitting the loot mike decides to find a jeweler so he can set the amethyst into a pendant. How much is that going to cost me DM? After Mike was satisfied that he found a jeweler capable of the task he decided to go see what the Dwarfs were up to and enters the there shop, or knocks on the door to there house if the shop is closed up.

Totally stealing your format Ulan :P. Lets see if a long series of bad rolls turns around. DM please take the cost of the amethyst out of my share of the coins and add my current masterwork short bow to the loot that is going to be sold. hp: 1d10 ⇒ 9 2nd Level in Fighter(Archer)
EDIT* GM I took martial weapon proficiency short bow when i was a commoner. Fighter gives me proficiency with all martial weapons. May I upgrade this feat to weapons focus short bow? Kind of useless with me now using a composite short bow but I don't mind if this just becomes a wasted feat due to game mechanics.

"Easy Breggel just stretching a joke too far in present company. I just want justice served even if this clot has to answer for his tribes actions." Mike hits the lizard-folks back with an open hand. How do we want to distribute both the coins and the equipment? Sorry i have not been posting much lately. My pregnant wife got pneumonia and soon after my daughter decided to show up. Everything is fine just very busy personally for me right now. "Maybe our dwarf friends can price those jewels for us. They are suppose to be good at those sorts of things." Mike says to Aldras after inspecting the amethyst and pearl. "Mind if i take the amethyst? Might make a nice piece of jewelry we can gift to our esteemed militia captain?" --------------------------------------------- "I think we should let the hamlet do as they will with the beast. Maybe we will get lucky and they will burn it. The smell might bring the rest of the tribe to us." Mike says after hearing Ulan talk about the beasts punishment.

perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 I would love the masterwork bow unless someone else wants it. Also going to take 2 javelins as well. Mike heads over to the bound lizard folk after retrieving his spear from the battlefield. Squatting down in front of it using his spear to help disperse his weight Mike watches as the spells affects wear off. "Do you speak common?" Mike asks after he thinks the lizardfolk has regained enough of his wits.

Going to fire my bow at the lizard on the rock with the intent of hitting him in the knee. I'm hoping this will make it fall off the rock. RNGesus don't let a 1 come up. attack: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 20 = 36
Mike draws his bow back as the affects of the spell set in. To him time almost slows down to a stand still as the lizardfolk looses his javelin. The shouts of the melee have become muffled and almost incomprehensible even though his mind still processed them as though time was flowing normally. Knowing his friend Breggal is in immediate danger Mike says a prayer to all the gods that have shown him favor that this arrow will bring it down to there level. Finally loosing to connect with his targets knee at the exact moment its weight will be completely in his forward leg should do the trick.

Casting true strike on myself. Just verbal component so no spell failure chance. I will also be drawing my bow. Mike annoyed with the lizard on the rock decides it's time he gets his. Mike will move to F-12 before casting color spray which will hit the two remaining lizardfolk threatening Breggel. DC 11 Will no negate.
Mike slumps as he watches his spear sail wide and land somewhere in the marsh behind. I don't think i have hit anything the whole campaign :( Mike moves quickly to get to the flank looking for the best opportunity to cast offensively to try and even the numbers out. Finding his spot he pulls out the appropriate components from one of his many pockets. A burst of colored dust rushes from his hand and engulfs two of the monsters.

Mike jumps up and rushes forward with his spear held above his head. As he reaches the edge of the reeds he plants his foot and launches his spear with all his might at the lizardfolk sitting atop the rock. He hopes the impact will dislodge the creature from his advantageous position. While his spear is still in mid air Mike skilfully slinks back into the reeds preparing to draw his bow.

Well we got horses for our last tour of duty so why no this one as well. DM you never clarified whether the Masterwork spear was short or long. I'm currently using it as a short and want to make sure this isn't in error. prep:
Yes mike is wearing his armor despite the chance of spell failure. his bow is neatly clasped to the saddle as well as his quiver of arrows to ensure easy use when danger comes within site. He has his spear strapped to his back in the event things have to get close. His spell book is securly strapped to the back of the saddle. Might take a minute longer to get to then his bow but there is only so much room on a horse. "Nythys things are starting out early this tim around." Mike says to himself. Despite his urge to rush out the gate Mike calmly positions himself at the front of the column. He might not of received any combat training in the college but he was still the best rider the group has. He notiibly shifts uncomfterbly in his one size fits all malita armor as he ensures all his tools are easily accessable from his saddle.

Sorry but i'm just going to have to summarize what Mike does up until the time warp. Working hours changed and it's causing chaos with my family and I can't seem to get the time to sit and write it out. summary: Mike returned home and talked with his Step Father about his recent urges to go back to arcane training. He understands and helps Mike dig out his old books and family ring.
He returns to Daggerfall with everyone who came to the cookout and wishes them the best with there training. Digging into his books seemed familiar and calming. Flipping through his almost empty spell book a note from his father written in Elven fell from the pages. "Elerossë Súrion, your human side always proved to be a challenge I could never cope with without your mother. Her passion for life was also yours and you so reminded me of her every day we woke. I divined that one day these books would be a great help to you. I know as a youth you could never truly adapt to the elvish school of learning but maybe in these human lands you will find a teacher who can keep the pace you require. I will always love you.
The note brought tears to Mikes eye's and he didn't look at his books again until his schooling started the next day.
