I have raised this issue a few times, but never received a definitive answer and the problem persists. I'm hoping that by offering the following information it will help to get the problems resolved, or at least someone can inform me that this was a deliberate change with the Starfinder APs so I can stop trying to get it fixed.
The problems started to appear in Starfinder Adventure Path #25. Initially the PDFs were too large, but the images were fine. This continued until #30.
Beginning with #31, the size came back down, but all the images in the PDF are multi-part. What I mean by that is, if you try to copy an image so you can use it in a VTT, you will need to manually stitch the image together first as it is comprised of multiple images in the PDF.
None of the Pathfinder APs suffer from this issue, nor the latest Alien Archive 4. All Starfinder APs before #25 were also fine.
I can live with the large PDF size. Annoying, but at least the images inside are usable. I would really like the multi-part image issue fixed that plagues #31 to #36.
Here is a list that summarizes the Starfinder Adventure Path PDF issues with the first three for comparison sake:
[NORMAL PDF SIZES WITH GOOD IMAGES - For Comparison]
#22 - 23 MB
#23 - 21 MB
#24 - 23 MB
[LARGE PDF SIZES - Images are good]
#25 - 77 MB
#26 - 75 MB
#27 - 94 MB
#28 - 96 MB
#29 - 73 MB
#30 - 102 MB
[BAD MULTI-PART IMAGES]
#31 - 31 MB
#32 - 35 MB
#33 - 29 MB
#34 - 22 MB
#35 - 30 MB
#36 - 29 MB

I can confirm these issues, and yes, they are indeed a hindrance. It would be very helpful if these AP PDFs were regenerated in the same way as all other Paizo PDFs have always been. Thank you!

Will we receive an email when it is updated? Because I posted in this very forum a couple months ago about that just not happening for me and no reply from support. For months.
Yeah, I am not getting these emails either. I tried opting out and back in again, but it didn't seem to help.

They responded to this elsewhere somewhere, and the reply was that the massive file sizes were due to some formatting element that they will no longer use following this AP. So A: The problem will hopefully resolve starting with AP #40, but B: Devastation Ark and Fly Free or Die aren't going to be retroactively fixed.
