'loot, survivors; loot, survivors. I guess survivors can care for themselves. Loot needs help.'

"Don't forget some of the irreplaceable artifacts we were intended to recover!" As Merisiel chases the chicken, while the others fiddle with the taproot, she collects a number of promising-looking artifacts and shinies on the deck.

'gonna catch that chicken. SHINY! chicken's gonna fry up good. SQUIRREL! ah ha! chicken! WAIT, SHINY!'
it can be very distracting to be ironically minded and acquisitive, at the same time...

As the party flees for the exit, escorting the prisoners slaves survivors, she uses some of her greater dexterity and movement speed to gather up some additional shinies, pressing some of the more able survivors into carrying items too bulky for her to manage.

I had a bad guy once (D&D 2 maybe?), who kept in his lair a large collection of cricket cages. Each cricket cage contained a remarkable robust and long-lived insect of one sort or other.

When things got really, really bad on the home front, he'd dispel all of the transmatation spells in that room. It got very crowded, with some very grumpy high-CR monsters very quickly. The beautiful and delicate cricket cages were a total loss.

Merisiel will corral a chciken for later fricasse.

'turnabout is fair play - I have no interest in playing nursemaid and main course for some alien bugs. But magic chicken might be good for dinner.'

"I'd offer to help, but my terribly pointy rapier does not do well as a cutting tool. Poking precise holes, yes. Precision woodworking (plant-working?) is not a forte."

Peeking over Bishop's shoulder (chicken head poking over Merisiel's shoulder, out of her backpack), "So what you got? What's in the package?"

"Gerri, can you talk to it? I'll cover you."

Merisiel follows Gerri (presumably to the plant root) and is prepared to pierce anything threatening Gerri.

I think we'll be spending this turn moving through the difficult terrain again. I also don't think Merisiel is going to be the appropriate first contact specialist to interact with the alien inter-dimensional plant.

As a fledgling PFS GM in other forums, I also appreciate the discussion - really helps me with the nitty gritty that in a home game I'd be tempted to hand-wave.

I also appreciate the intended helping hand Aquilla! Apologies if I jumped the gun, but posting during working hours is always iffy for me. My intention of speeding things up seems to have gone a bit awry..

"I think the ship ends there - let's see if we can find some doors to the back - back by the ladder down here. There must be some loot around here."

...and that the frigging 'lazers' don't slice through guardsmen, and into delicate rogues crouching behind the meat-shields.
Excellent thought Gerri!
BTW, I couldn't help notice that Tarondor couldn't bear to look at motley on his map... <grin>

"Hey Gerri - I'm betting these things are firing out of arrow slit things. I'm headed up inside their arc."

Merisiel swings up the access ladder, and sprints abaft, vaulting acrobatically up to the upper deck. She pulls in behind the soldiers huddled away from the Fire Projectors. Merisiel, in turn, huddles behind the bulk of an armored soldier with a shield, looking for opportunity to move to the abaft deck.

@Draxville - it depends on whether the person I'm climbing over minds unduly... or reacts before I've moved on.

"Ooohh... fire bolt wands! I'll bet I can pry them up - thus they're not nailed down."

"Frigging 'lazers' - gotta get me some frigging 'lazers'"

In a contrarian, and slightly creepy style, Merisiel shifts from a bundle of jittering and abruptly angular kintetic-ness, to a slice of stillness on the shifting deck - apparently aware of everything in her surroundings, while focused singularly on the approaching ladder.

"Wait! You're not allowed to use up all the opponents! Wait for us!"

And Merisiel swarms up the ladder at an improbable speed, and exiting the top at an unlikely angle.
