Yeah, I'm sorry to see this game go by the wayside as well, as I was having a lot of fun... Jacob - thanks for making a fun game and hope you can return to online gaming regularly soon - I am supposing this affecgts the eternal horizons game as well? Please let us know there as well.

Masao shrugs. "I barely scratched mine and he fell, I'm sure he's not knocked too deeply unconscious... I agree let's get them all completely inside and get the doors shut before this is seen and reported." That said, he immediately drags one of the wounded guards into Johan's place and deposits him on the floor. When all three of the wounded are inside with the party and the one conscious guard, he closes the outside door to the place and bars it.

Just a heads up. Starting Weds I will be on vacation. For a few days at least, I will be driving about 10 hours a day and only able to post very late at night pst. So if you don't hear from me for long periods, that's why.

We will be staying at hotels with wifi, so I will check in as soon as I can after arrival each night.

This sort of schedule is likely to last about 13 days (we return on June 13th, so just giving a heads up -

While Arwen is at the church, Masao accompanies him like a dutiful bodyguard. When they are finished, he asks a local in or around the temple for directions to the smith Johan.

Most importantly, are you enjoying this campaign?
So far, yup, I'm enjoying myself.

How is the pacing? Is the plot moving too quickly or slowly?
Plot? THere's a plot? lol j/k... it's moving ahead quite fine actually. I would like to see the pace pick up a little, but that has more to do with player posts than your own, and I understand that people have lives and jobs and such, so I am trying to be patient. lol... I'm not known for my patience.

Do you like the direction the game is headed? Would you like to see more exploration, intrigue, social scenarios, or combat?
I think so far we've got plenty of intrigue, and I figure the exploration will come in time as we move through different parts of the scenarios. We haven't really had a lot of opportunity for 'exploration' yet. Combat has been fine, I like your maps, they are simple but they work to establish basic confrontation without being too restrictive.

Do you feel that your character is getting a chance to do what he is good at?
Of course not! What he's good at is something he won't be able to do well for a few levels at least. He's such a noob! lol. I figure he'll get his chances for spell combat and all that stuff in time.

Are there any things about the game or my GM style that you dislike or would change?
Nope so far everything has been fine. Like i said, pacing could pick up, but that's not your issue really, just timing of posts and all.

Is combat appropriately paced? Does it contribute to the game?
Wouldn't be much of a game without some combat now and again. Pacing of combat has been fine. Might want to think about having everyone post their actions then you put them in init order and make them work, yanno... rather than waiting for posts in init order, which can be harder depending on people's post schedules.

And for fun, which character has the best haircut?
Well, in reality (not the avatar), Masao has this whole R-K anime haircut thing going which is pretty awesome but no one can see it. So I guess I have to vote based on avatar. Gotta vote for Arwen then - like the whole flowing hair thing.

yes, we are entering at different times and from different directions. Samant is going in first, I am going in with Arwen as his 'protector', and Hob is going in last. Our intention is to all meet at Johan's later, and if that is not possible for some reason, at the tavern at night time. Don't know where Samant will go first, but I have a feeling Arwen and I will end up at the church first before we maybe go to the market &/or tavern.

"So Arwen and I together, Samant you alone and Hob alone...I concur that this would be better than four travelers together, since the baron would have been sure to mention that we were four in number. And you know there's no reason why we can't enter from different directions as well if there's any cover beyond the foot of the hill. Just a thought."

I kinda misunderstood too - I thought the wall was around the town, not just the keep. So we shouldn't have any trouble getting into the town itself, though we may run into guards patrolling the town looking for us. That might actually be to our advantage - any guards we deal with in/around town are that many fewer that we will have to deal with getting into the keep itself or protecting the Baron. That's assuming we have to get into the keep to deal with the Baron here.

Masao has no magic good for this kind of thing. However they are looking for a group.. what if we go in individually and rendezvous in town? Or we can just go in together and see what happens. we can always run, lol

"Agreed, caution is called for. The Baron in Alvis knows we're coming and probably has at least some information as to our numbers and strength, or at least he will have by the time we arrive if he doesn't already. We need speed as well as caution though. The sooner we confront him, the less information he can gather about us. Let's at least get to Alvis and see what we can learn about him."

sounds like a plan, they aren't speeding us up and might make us stand out too much in Alvis. In one of the villages we pass thru, maybe try to sell the 2xpadded armor and 2xlight mace. That leaves us with the 2 bows,20 arrow, 2 daggers and 25gp which we can keep and use - unless someone wants the armor and/or maces.

"Huh? Oh, I wouldn't call me skilled. I can stay on a horse but not fight from horseback. You won't get Hob on a horse I fear." He gives Hob a little conspiratorial smile, then turns back to Samant. "But since we don't have enough horses to go around, I'm also willing to walk. Perhaps since you are skilled with animals, and Arwen might find riding easier than walking, the two of you should be the ones to ride for now. Or if the horses are too tired, perhaps we should just walk them unridden for a while."

Masao hands the second bow to Arwen and a quiver of 10 of the arrows. "If you're like me, you have limits on your abilities each day as well, so best if you do have a backup weapon."

Disappointed that Samant found no camp, he's also concerned. "What were they doing out here that they had no camp to return to? Makes no sense. Well, let's move on I guess, get our bearings back and parallel the road again."

"Tracking them back to their camp might be a good thing. If we don't, and there turn out to be others, they might end up following us and hunting us instead of the other way around. I'd rather be hunter than prey. And as you say, they may have more supplies laid in, and more horses as well. We could use a couple more mounts."

"Bah... these were in league with the slavers. They bear the same tattoos. Were there just the two of them, or did some get away?" He carries the gear and dumps it all in a pile near the horses, but not close enough to startle them.

any arrows to go with those bows, and if so, how many?

Masao picks up a bow and a quiver of arrows assuming there's a couple of those as well. "Some gear here if anyone wants any of it. We can sell the rest when we get to town. Some cash here too, so we can arrange some lodgings and not have to worry about food either."

"Do you think the baron sent these to prevent us from reaching him? He knows we're likely to be coming since the message got through. It's possible this ambush wasn't random banditry."

Masao looks over at Kin, always a little surprised to hear the small bird talk to him in common. He nods once and answers, "In just a moment, I'm checking out this one first. I don't think either of them is going anywhere, so we've got time. Hob, wanna give me a hand searching these bodies and let Samant deal with the horse?"

Once, he's done searching the body over by the horse, he walks over to Kin and searches the other corpse with the same diligence, looking not only for valuables/salable items, but also for tattoos or clues of any kind as to who these men were and possibly who they were working for, if anyone.

Seeing Samant approach the horse with some skill, having lodged in the stable in town for a while, he at least recognizes the skill he lacks, Masao backs off and leaves the horse for Samant to collect. He instead checks the body of the bandit who fell here near the horse, looking for valuables but also for anything else of interest, including possibly tattoos indicating whether or not they are in league with the slavers.

Masao stops rushing forward, hoping not to startle the horse any further. He tries to approach slowly, with the intent of perhaps mounting the beast.

anyone have any handle animal skill (trained only) - I don't have it, but having a horse might be a handy thing.
