count me in. I'll recrunch this guy and add gestalt. not sure what yet though - maybe wizard or sorceror.

Congrats to all that made it in.

Im also going to have to withdraw my application.

Good luck burning Talingarde down.

Resubmitting in simple form

Human Cleric - Unholy Barrister of Asmodeus - Malak was born into the cult under auspicious rites and lives to serve the Dark Prince and his designs against Talingarde.

Im intersted with this character and can easily scale him back to 1st level.

Winterwalker:
- to be fair he was recruited part of the way into an already started game that fizzled soon after. I missed the whole jailbreak scene but did participate in about 1/3 to maybe 1/2 of the Tests.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

and here I thought I replied already... well, that works for me!

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Ive definitely been slacking due to World Cup fever. Im just down to buying gear and picking spells though so I'll get working on it.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

I'm almost done.

How are HP's handled?

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

No worries here. I'm hoping to have my crunchy bits done this evening.

One question regarding traits - should I still pick one of the 'crimes' for a Trait? Not sure if the prison break will be part of Malak's story or not. I'm cool either way.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Mi'Dre - that's crazy helpful. Much obliged. I'll get cracking on reading and recrunching pronto.

DM VoV - if you have a necessary deadline for completion let me know and info on background for how/where/why Malak is coming into the story so I can rewrite that.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Hey fellow Wicked ones!

FNG here coming in to provide Divine support with this Unholy Barrister of Asmodeus.

Had a rough week so haven't been able to read up on your gameplay but for a few pages. I went back 10 pages to get an idea of where you guys are. If anyone has a specific spot that would be best that would be greatly appreciated.

Also looks like I need to recrunch as Malak was built with the Focus/Foible and rolls method.

DM VoV - should I start at 6th level? Also WBL? or are we poorer/richer?

Looking forward to getting started and gaming with you all.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Sorry but Im going to have to withdraw from this game. Waiting 1-2 weeks between posts is frustrating and making it difficult to keep track of whats happened and to stay interested in whats going on. Had a good time while it lasted and maybe I'll catch you all in the next one.

Stay cool everyone.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak spun at the sound of what he saw was a large, spiked, iron ball crashing through the stairs...and so the warning was two fold... Thankfully it appeared that the elf was ok so the priest held his tongue despite a desire to say 'I told you so'.

'Nice reflexes Sotha. Does anyone see anything or have we found a dead end?'

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Two weeks with no posts? If we cant get this game moving I'll probably look for something more active.

Megan - do you need something from us? Perhaps inputting our player that's waiting now will help?

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak was wandering so I'll take bottom third

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Everyone still here? Its been over a week since the last post. Bad tidings for a PBP game.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak shook his head when Sotha began climbing the stairs. To him the stairs were just as 'obvious' as the pendant on the pedestal but he'd reserve judgment until the elf's fate was evident. Instead the fat man wandered the room.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Stopping in his tracks at the sight of the pendant, Malak frowned... this does seem far too easy...

Ware the pendant my brothers. My instincts say to ignore it and the clue on the door confirms my suspicions.

The priest strode into the chamber and cast his spell allowing him to see magical auras.

Cast Detect Magic

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

With knowledge of a possible deception in mind, Malak did the unthinkable and led the way through the southern door.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

More than understandable.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Anyway we can get an updated map?

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Moving about the room, Malak cast an orison before he searched for anything out of the ordinary.

Cast Guidance

Percpetion: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 1 = 26

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak nodded at Sotha's admission and bypassed the metal snakes that were under Tragen's perusal to look at the lantern. Using a tindertwig, the priest lit the lantern.

I imagine that it wont be the only trial by combat we have to face. So far we have faced four of our supposed trials and the boy did mention shriekers and dead men rising.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak withdrew his hand and let go of the breath he had been holding.

Indeed it is safe now son. I told you that we had two mighty warriors with us.

The priest peered around the chamber to see what the metal snakes had left.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak had been waiting for the typically impatient magus to strike before him but the elf's indecision... could cost us dearly.... So the priest stepped forward and attempted to touch the metal snake with an open hand... fool hardy as it is...

Touch Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Touch of Evil ~ if Hit, creature is Sickened for 1 round

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Is it our action?

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Cursing under his breath at his spell's ineffectiveness, Malak looked Shal's way. For what he had planned next he would need need the boy removed from the area.

Can you take the lad back down the hall a ways?

Delay for Shal and Timeon to leave. Then Channel Negative Energy - Will Save DC 14 for half damage. Sotha and Tragen protected by Selective Channel

Channel Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

I PM'd Shal but after 3 weeks with no word who can tell.

Can we get a DMPC on his action to keep things moving?

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 8

As usual, the portly priest was bringing up the rear and slow to respond. The metal snakes' speed was alarming and Malak had no desire to get within their range of attack. He thought about channeling the might of Asmodeus but knew he couldnt protect the lad along with his comrades... not yet, he still might be of use... He spat a few quick words at the snake that struck at Sotha first.

Cast Murderous Command Will Save DC 15

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak rested a comforting hand on the lad's shoulder and shuffled him along behind the others.

Come now Timeon. We'll find your master and the way out of here in short order.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Well of course we can young Timeon. Where was the last place you saw him?

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Thirst and hunger Malak knew well. The priest picked through his pack and retrieved a can with dwarven trail rations and a bottle of wine.

Please sate yourself on these Timeon and have no fears. Looks at these capable warriors. Nothing else down here will bother you.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak was a tad surprised that Sotha didnt strap the young boy right into the chair and had to reevaluate the elf... he's not as blood thirsty as he seems... but he was more surprised at the multitude of experiences the lad had had while down here.

Sotha speaks the truth young Timeon. You're knowledge of this place could very well point the way out for us all. But we need you to get a hold of yourself and act like the knight that you are training to be. Are you injured?

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Knowledge/Nobility to recognize badge: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Malak sighed at the sight of the boy...this will be cruel indeed... and studied his sigil.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak waddled over to where Sotha had indicated there was a hidden door.

Lets see what we have here first and not forget our first lessons in doing so.

Cast Detect Magic

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

There is but one way to find out. Unless someone has a better idea. The clues have been pretty much quite literal thus far. We need an 'enemy' to be cruel to and that chair looks quite cruel.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

There is another hallway. Back the way we came and left.

Malak could hardly believe that Shal was willing to sit in the chair... then again, some derive pleasure from feeling anything at all...

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

^ it is. enjoy!

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Very cool.

I'll have my friend post his character here. I already prepped him on the seven sins and he's chosen Pride at this point.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Understandable Tragen.

Ive found one interested player so far.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Very cool Megan. I'll post a link to the original recruitment thread with some very dependable players to see if anyone is interested. Where would you like them to post their submissions?

Just a light bump to keep the game going. As soon as we're out of the labyrinth, I'll see if I can recruit some replacements for our lost members.

We'll definitely need it as it looks like we're down to three players. I'll shoot Tragen a PM also.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Another clue indeed. It would appear that we are on the right track. Should we check our other option before daring this door?

Malak knew that time was sliding by and that they had a schedule to keep but he didnt want to leave something of import behind them.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak was unperturbed by the tall elf's vehemence. He sighed deep out of frustration and waved a thick fingered hand.

Very well. Although your tone betrays the intent of your words. So in the spirit of moving forward I'll cooperate.

The priest extended the hand he waved and rested in on the magus's shoulder and spat a few hissing words.

Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (7, 8) + 3 = 18

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Hah! Nice one Sotha... that's highly possible.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Actually I was waiting on a response from Sotha or even input from Tragen but no worries.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

At any other time Malak might have been taken by Shal's flirtations but this would not be one of them. The priest had had enough of being bullied and cajoling wouldn't do the trick either. He stopped his pacing and fixed the fetchling with a blank gaze.

Do you speak for Sotha now? So when bullying and threatening don't work you next try charm? When all I asked for was civility. To think we are considered the evolved races...

With a small shake of his head, Malak dismissed the sorcerer by walking around him to face the wounded elf.

If you require healing then you can ask for it... and at this point I'd suggest doing so nicely. You will not demand anything of me again....or of any of the others. You are not in charge here. There will be no more accusations of anyone of us not carrying their weight. We burned Brandescar down together and now we are involved in the plot to end all plots together. Acting like a spoiled child will get us no where nearer that end. Do you agree or not agree?

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak thought it over and realized that they had indeed not progressed any further into the conversation. And with Shal jumping in the priest was starting to feel bullied and he had had enough of that as a child... I will not stand for it as a man...

So, you lot have gone from ordering to threatening and then back to ordering? Interesting... you are so quick to point out my lack of assistance during that very brief exchange and yet now you seem to be of need of my talents. Yet still you insist on the use of hostility over civility... very interesting indeed.

With a shrug and arms now tucked behind his back; the stout man wandered the room looking for the next door and hopefully a clue to go along with it.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Pursing his lips in surprise that the elf had actually remembered their oath; Malak was nonplussed by Sotha's vehemence... still, he's not as dumb as he's sounding... that rage is quite unbecoming though...

You'd have rather that I flailed about with this mace like an idiot? What would that have accomplished? We were told it would take fire and unfortunately I have none at my disposal. Do you really think we will each have a part to play in every test? We have completed three of the nine and I'd suggest not expending all of our resources before we are done. And if you think screaming like an abusive parent is fair and honorable then you have much to learn and perhaps little time to do it.

Folding his hands across his healthy midriff the priest continued

Now, can we move forward?

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

Malak raised an eyebrow at the magus's outburst and replied calmly.

Im sure you meant to request healing Sotha although that didn't sound like a question. Don't forget the oath we took.

With the threat of the mist gone; the priest moved slowly into the room but made no move towards the elf. He did grin at the fetchlings comments.

That was quite impressive Shal. Once again the clues have paved the way to success.

Male Human Cleric 3 - Unholy Barrister

There was a small part of Malak that was lamenting his life's complacencies at this time. If he had applied himself more over the years he might have an answer for helping his comrades with this current test. As it was though he just didn't. He kept his eyes on the mist and more importantly his beloved self out of harm's way as much as possible.
