Hey there, not sure if you are still looking for players or not but wanted to try my hand. I will admit up front I know nothing about the kingmaker campaign although doing some quick reading it certainly sounds ripe with potential. 1. Started playing 3.5 I think about 3 - 4 years ago, jumped from PF to 4E in-between. 2. Friday nights work great for me so long as we don't start playing in the middle of the afternoon, after work I am completely free (5PM EST/GMT, I live in AZ so my timezone changes with DST). 3. Sadly I have to claim a 1 on this question, I know nothing about it but learning is half the fun of D&D. 4. Not exactly a full character sheet but I assume I can fill this in later assuming I garner some interest. Garn Foeaxe
5. Character Background/Personality/Aspirations Background:
Life was never easy growing up in the River Kingdoms, violence and pain were common place, and the idea of law and morality extended only as far as the ideals of those currently in power. Born in one of the various small, unimportant villages and slums that litter the River Kingdoms, to a small and unimportant barmaid named Tora. An unwanted bastard child whose mother was involved with less that savory characters, racking up a small fortune in loans, which would ultimately cost her life. The gang leader who took her life, a man by the name of Rahric, helps himself to her meager possessions, including her son. Taking him as a possible investment, either as a slave or potential new recruit. Lessons were hard learned in the group, and most ended in violence leaving him bruised and broken. As they moved from town to town he would experience the thuggery and harshness of the world, and even be forced to partake in it. Eventually the group would overestimate itself, crossing those even more dangerous than themselves. Caught and imprisoned in the city state of Tymon, the group quickly finds themselves guests of the arena, sentenced to fight, and in all likelihood die for their crimes. The matches are brutal, small groups are taken, 3 or 4 at a time until at last only Garn and the leader of the band remain. The events from there aren't entirely clear to Garn, but what he does remember, the bits and pieces, are the fear, the pain, and the sudden release, the feeling of freedom as he came to in the middle of the arena, axe in hand and a bloody Rahric below him. Their execution simply looks on with mild surprise before moving over to him to deliver a killing blow. He is stopped mid swing, Garn struggling under the large mans grip, saved from death with nothing but a word. Despite his sentencing, he is spared, his display garnering the attention of those from the gladiatorial college of Tymon. He would spend the rest of his childhood in the tutelage of the masters and gladiators of Tymon, although his life had changed little from what it was. His days still spent enduring pain and mental strain, although this felt different, like being built up for something rather than for someone else's amusement. This continues into adulthood, his teachers of steel and pain, and his classrooms of dust and sweat eventually earn him freedom. His many trials and tribulations teach him many things, but most of all they teach him there is value in knowing pain and hardship, drawing strength from it. While others run and hide from it, he must seek it out if he wishes to grow strong enough to maintain mastery of himself. For in this world, the strong hold dominion over the weak.
Personality:
Garn breathes a harsh demeanor no less than the lands that bore him. He generates an aura of smothering focus, like a hot forge, off putting to most, but to those more intuitive the ever present drive of purpose is there. Aspirations: In short terms, strength. Due to his rather jaded upbringing, he believes the only true path to freedom lies in ones own ability to keep from being swallowed up by the perpetual sea of those who would deny it. His personal belief of life being that the strong ultimately devour the weak.
Here is the writeup you requested, I am still adding to it but this will give you an idea of the character. spoiler: Steam rose up in the cold morning air, the sound of labored breathing mixed with the whimpering mewl of the dying. The bloody man lie in a heap on the ground as his companions looked on in horror at the sight of the dwarf in front of them. His front matted crimson red, dying parts of his thick black beard and hair, giving it a sort of shine in the morning light.
The would-be thieves, or rather desperate refugees, finally realizing they bit off more than they could chew trying to rob the loan dwarf. He stood only a little over 4 feet tall, in a worn outfit of studded leather, his piercing green eyes the only true part of him that stood out from the dirty appearance. Well that and the waraxe in his hand, but then again they didn’t exactly see that until they tried pulling a knife to rob him. The other two panicked at the sight of their fallen friend lying in the dirt, a deep gash running from his shoulder and down his chest. They turned and fled, not giving a second look back at the dwarf or their friend. Garn stood there for a moment, it was almost like being back in the arenas of Yenrick, he could almost hear the roaring of the crowd, the clanging of steel, and the sound of life escaping a man’s lungs. But where was the pain, the desperation, the feeling of life?! The recollection faded quickly as he came to focus on the dying man in front of him, a scowl coming across his face at the sight. “WEAK!” He shouted, kicking the man sharply, eliciting only a groan of pain from the man. “WHERE WAS THE FEELING, THE PAIN, THE LIFE?!” He screamed in frustration at the wasted motion before bringing his axe down on the man in a frenzy of rage, again and again until he stopped moving and then some. Finally ceasing the fruitless endeavor and coming back to his senses. So far this entire trip had been a waste, nothing like the arena back in Yenrick. Ever since that feud or some such with the nobles had escalated everything had changed. The arena was gone, burned to the ground, his “employer” most likely face down in a red pool somewhere. Garn didn’t know such things, only that when rival thugs showed up and started killing the pit slaves that he wasn’t going to join them. Tore the first one to step into his cell throat out, and then high tailed it out before they torched the place. He had heard rumors of some sort of war or some such going on up north. He didn’t know what it was about but as long as it had what he needed he didn’t care. Ever since he had been taken by slave traders and sold to the pits of Yenrick, some sort of syndicate, not like some filthy street gang, these people were big time. He didn’t know much, he was just a slave after all, no introductions necessary for his like. The only name he ever heard from the guards was Gatz, of course that could have just been a nickname. One thing was sure though, they wanted one thing and they saw to it that he wanted it too, to fight. The torture they exposed him to, both mental and physical, had been conditioning him to fight in the arena for the noble’s amusement. At first he hated it, feared it almost, he was young back then, but soon he was embracing it. Actually counting the hours until the next fight, the thrill, the rush was the only thing that made him feel anything anymore. The pain of broken bones, bleeding tissue, the fear that it might be over at a moment, all of it made him feel alive. Soon they didn’t even have to “encourage” him anymore; he was inflicting it to himself. And when all that ended, the only thing left was emptiness, but that was all going to change soon. He was going to find this war, immerse himself in it, learn from it, and find that feeling again, maybe even pay the bastards who burned the arena down back someday. Not out of some sense of duty or anything, they burned down HIS arena, tried to kill him too, but that came with the territory.

I've asked if he's interested in moving the game somewhere else, but I'm still awaiting a reply. Interesting... they block paizo but not facebook XD Oh well let me know where he wants to move it.
Helthos wrote: Also, Ronin, are there rules in Pathfinder for having a bayonet on my crossbow? I think that would be pretty cool. That there is, here is the link to the description. It counts as a two handed weapon (since it attaches to a crossbow or firearm), nothing great (1d6 as medium) but certainly gives you options in close quarters.

Xander would be our fourth member, I think he is an Inquisitor? I don't know anything about the class so I cant tell you if they are casters or not.

Welcome aboard, Stump is a Dwarf fighter who focuses on two handed weapons. He differs from typical Dwarfs that follow the battle philosophy of the immovable/unbreakable object and prefers to take said object and bludgeon his enemies to death with it, namely himself or his greatsword. He is also a smith so if you ever need crafting done he should be able to handle it. And drinking, sooooo much drinking.
Severed Ronin wrote: We'll stick with the straight Paizo crowd if you lot don't mind. If you guys want to update your characters for any of the new material that came out, do it now and let me know. Sounds good, I just wanted to replace my traits since when I first made my character most of them were very general or didn't fit my character. They added some new ones that work very well with what I am trying to do. Here is a list of what I am changing:
No terribly drastic changes but these certainly fit my characters flavor much more.
The rough and tough tiny terror Stump is always ready for action. Welcome back btw. On a side note I figure I should ask this now before we get started, since they have added quite a bit of new material to the SRD, do you have fair game list? I just want to know what content is allowed, I figure to keep things simple we should stay strictly with Paizo published content. Yea or nay?

Assuming anything with a CR higher than +1 would be out of the question as well if we are starting at level 2. Would Ursidians be allowed? The entry for them doesn't list them as a level adjusted race or anything, and something about playing a bear just seems strangely appealing XD. As far as themes, I am thinking either searching for treasure or investigating the cause of the collapse (purely from an adventuring standpoint rather than actually wanting to know what caused it). Basically my character would be more interested in testing his strength against various challenges regardless of what they may be. Also what are the starting rules? You gave us the starting level, any restrictions? Point buy or dice roll? Any special house rules? *edit* By the way it appears several of the pages for some of the beastfolk are down, the Galadines and Testudo being the first few I have noticed.

Hi I am interested in this but had a question regarding the beastfolk, I don't really have a theme per say as I am still reading all the information you posted. Anyway in the link you posted to the beastfolk it talks about points for the various abilities? I am not familiar with these or even if I need to be, is this something the player needs to deal with or is this more related to custom game content? Thanks.
I have a question before we go any further, is there a price list for various common goods and services such as lodging and ale? I know I have seen the prices for things like rations and such but I didnt know if we should follow the same prices for going to a tavern or are you going to give us the prices when we buy something?
Wow, sounds like you need data recovery o_0 @ - Tristan: I just read your offer to do up equipment and or characters. If you still have time I would like to take you up on this offer. I am not that concerned with equipment but I would love to get a character picture if at all possible. I have a description on my character profile but please let me know if you need anything else.
Email is - mackilgore@hotmail.com Thanks.
Oh no its all good, this has been by far the most engaging group I have had the fortune to play with, which may be hard to believe considering my other groups are all live. XD You have a good balance of roll play and combat, so if you need more time between posts have at it. Quality over quantity I always say.
I have another question for the group collective, the SRD is less than helpful when the information isn't clearly posted in one of their sections. Does anyone know if the "heavy" trait was pulled over from 3.5 for equipment? I was just looking through feats trying to come up with where I wanted to go with my guy and was curious if they kept it. By the way if you don't know what the heavy trait is, its located in the magic of faerun I believe and basically allows you to craft a weapon or armor out of special material to give it the heavy trait. I don't know what it does for armor but for weapons it basically makes them count as one size larger and requires you to take exotic weapon prof (heavy) to use it. No biggy if it wasn't ported, just curious.
Just let me know what you need and point me in the direction you need it. I do this stuff for a living so I should be able to get it done pretty quick as long as I know what is what. If you just want to setup some sort of repository for the content that works, we talking purely image files? Let me know.
And here I go thinking everyone just up and quit on the other thread, sneaky very sneaky XD As far as loot goes, I figured we would basically just split it up based on need, obviously a fighter isn't going to be using a robe made for a wizard (well at least no fighters I know of) so that should go up to whoever can use it. If someone doesn't want the item then they can choose what to do with it. I get the feeling we should be getting plenty of loot so no need to really worry about it too much. Btw is there anyway to bookmark threads to my account? So far all I have been doing is using my "recent post" option to get back to these.
I basically figured everyone was still doing stuff for the holidays. I check this thing just about every day, as far as the game goes I guess we need to be moved out of the city? Unless someone has something they need to do, but from what I understand it sounds like we are in agreement to move on. But I am in no rush, enjoy the break while you can I say.

If you need any help setting anything up such as pages for these things let me know, I do web design for a living so if you wanted to just slap all of this stuff together on your site or what not I could help out there. Anything to make things easier (and perhaps make the game go a bit faster XD)
Marcy "Lucky" Lull wrote:
Ah ok, I was wondering that considering it isn't actually listed in the book. Gives all the info about the feats but doesn't actually specify when you get new ones.
Marcy "Lucky" Lull wrote:
Ah I thought you got feats every 3 levels so 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18.
Marcy "Lucky" Lull wrote:
1) I thought I should only have 7? I get feats a 1, 3 and 6 base feats plus 1, 2, 4, 6 fighter feats. Or am I missing a house rule were we all get an additional feat? Or is my math just horribly off? 2) The skills I actually didn't include the armor penalty because if I am not wearing my armor it wouldn't apply, figured I would add the -5 depending on the situation. 3) I actually did not notice this, had to re-read the ability. So basically the only difference being that on a full attack, the first attack only gets a +1.5x STR and all attacks after get a +2x STR correct?
