Morning everyone, I'm looking to make a fun Kitsune Eldritch Archer but I'm not sure what a good strategy for class building. So, I've been bouncing between starting off Ranger or Fighter. I'm leaning heavily towards Fighter. Now should a archetype into Ranger, a Caster class, or stay the Fighter course? The Archer archetype doesn't really seem to pay off with starting off as either a Fighter or Ranger. Thoughts?? If this helps, this is NOT for PFS but a regular group.

Hey folks, simple and fairly silly question but I’m not sure I’m understanding the free archetype variant. Do the players get the archetype at 1st level, then at 2nd and every even get a free feat from the archetype -or- Do the players get the archetype at 2nd level for free, then the subsequent free archetype feat every even level? I feel like the answer is simple and I’m overthinking it, thanks for the help!

Afternoon everyone, I’m building a Barbarian (Animal Instinct, Ape) With the Monk Dedication for Extinction Curse. I could use some advice on item selection for my character. I know that handwraps will be a must and my DM and I are working to make those an option to get them. What other items should I consider/be on the look out for? I am intending on focusing on Ki feats for the monk aspect so if that might impact item selection.

Afternoon everyone, Quick question that I'm having trouble nailing down. If a person takes Sorcerer Dedication then later takes Basic Spellcasting do they use the Sorcerer chart for spells per day? So, when I take Basic Spellcasting at fourth level it would look like this: 2 Cantrips that I can cast 5 times per day in any combination
 Am I interrupting this right?

Hey all, So, I’ve got a game coming up where we all drew characters out of a hat and need to build our PCs in their image. I drew “The Shredder”, and I’m not 100% sure where to go. We are allowed to do some variation with races and what not, but the goal is “reasonably close”. My thought process was Monk with Rogue Dedication that uses a Tekko-kagi but looking at that weapon makes me wonder if that’s the right angle. My overall goal is a Shredder similar to IDW’s comic series. Thoughts? We aren’t sure how far we are going and starting at level 3.

Evening all, I’m looking to do a Sub-Zero type character for a Hell’s Rebels campaign. My initial instinct is to do a solid half and half split between UMonk and Kineticist. My other thoughts were investigating some 3rd party stuff or even attempting a hybrid class or archetype. Thoughts on the matter? Are their any guides or resources that help with this concept or for any of the other “elemental” ninjas (Smoke, Rain, Tremor)? Thanks for the assist!

So, when my current games ends I'm thinking I want to do a campaign that is a steampunk setting. I am curious about how the world is set up? Is there a better steampunk setting? How are the races affected in a steampunk world? I know that orcs are civilized, but not much else. The reviews say that the vehicle rules hold up well, is this true in your mileage? Can a person use to classic fantasy settings still have lots of fun with this setting? Thanks for playing 20 questions.

Hey folks, So inspired to paint the new GW model Drycha Hamadreth, I was wondering if there is a Pathfinder equivalent for her. Not in terms of personality but, more in monster type, perhaps in the Fey or Plant family. I'm looking to use her in my game, so if there was a shell already that would save me sometime, but if not, creating a monster is nothing new. Thanks for the assist!

So my group greatly enjoyed the Warcraft movie, one of them is a huge fan of Warcraft in general, and I want to surprise them with the occasional Warcraft adventure for small breaks in the campaign. I'm wondering if the Warcraft RPG books from the 05-08 convert reasonablely well, or are just good fluff/lore books for the DM now? I ask because a used bookstore in my neck of the woods has some of the line, and I might be them if they are useful. Thoughts? Thanks for the assist!

I was curious if there was a possibility of doing Class specific player companions? Perhaps putting in archetypes/feats/powers that haven't fit in other places, uncommon race favored class bonuses, regional differences between characters of the same class. To me it sounds like a viable option like the Race books.

Hey folks, I'm making a Sylph Bloodrager with the elemental bloodline (air). I'm curious if there has been any word if the Air Affinity applies to the Bloodrager bloodline. Given that one of the parent classes is Sorcerer I'd say yes, but I could be very wrong. Also, the race guide and Sylph came out prior to the ACG so it's possible they didn't consider the various elemental affinity abilities. Thoughts?

Hey folks, I'm thinking of starting a DC Adventures game and could use some advice. I'm concerned with how a party of 3 superheroes would meet work together. I know it could be a branch of the Justice League or if they play batman-esque characters make them part if the family and protect Gotham and Bludhaven. To help matters I was going to take a new 52 approach but reboot all the characters, this way if someone wants to make their own Batman they can, and there is a fully separate continuity no one has to worry about.

So I was thinking of having a little fun and humoring myself by introducing Vega(Balrog) from the Street Fighter series into my homebrew game. Any thoughts on how to build him up? I was thinking of going with a fighter/rogue build and moving to the assassin prc. The biggest problem I have is figuring out his signature weapon, what would the equivalent be in Pathfinder? Thoughts? Thanks for the assist. I'll probably be setting him up to be a CR 10.

So every so often in a various Beastiary X forum, or in general someone brings up the thought of a Dinosaurs Revisited book. Typically while well met it does get pointed out that there isn't much to "revisit" since they are just regular animals. Thinking on it, I say maybe there is something to "revisit" if you look at adding the more fantasic elements from Dinosaur fiction. Take the Carnotaurus (shout out to my fav). First, let say, he shows up in a AP or a Beastiary happy and normal. Now we do Revisited and give him two new forms, first the ultimate chameleon variety shown in the novel "The Lost World", second the "Longhorn Carnotaurus" normal but maybe a gore attack and really long horns. Raptors could be adapated to be full on human intelligence levels and practicing shamans(druids) ala Broncosaurus Rex. Off the bat those are two examples that hit me, but I'm sure many other folks, more learned than I in this regard, have several other examples. Perhaps if we can compile them it would show enough interest and give the Paizo folks a little help in making this book come true for a lot of fans? My two copper for what it's worth. P.S. Regardless, my Barbarian needs a Carnotaurs mount. Just saying Mr. Jacobs.

Off and on I've been working on my own personal MtG inspired miniature collection. Usually this is pretty easy as a fair amount of standard fantasy miniatures fit into most MtG planes, though with Return to Ravnica I feel compelled to do some Izzet based minis. Problem is I'm not sure if a company makes minis that fit well with the astetic of the Izzet Guild. Anybody know of a good company that produces something akin to the Izzet? So it's a nice stormy day here in my drought ridden area, and I thought it would be fun to do a "Stat the character challenge." Rules are simple, a character is named with a level and the next person stats them up using only PF no third party. The character can be fictional or real world, anything is open, though try to avoid gods, point-buy, rolling stats whatever goes. This should be fun and a challenge. The overall goal should be to capture the feel and essence of the character since it probably won't be possible to hit every detail. These do not need to be optimal either, like I said this is just for fun. If someone posts a semi obscure character, post a reference so the next person can get a feel for them. To start things off, Pei Mei at level 12.
EDIT: Reposted after it dawned on me that I put this in the wrong forum.

So I'm thinking of making a Wizard whose long term goal is to make a race of creatures loyal to him. Problem is I'm not sure if I should go generalist or specialize. I've consider that Transmutation might be a good and thematic choice to for it, though when I want the race to have innate magic and a symbiotic hive mind. Anyone have some thoughts on the matter or suggestions for the long term on this character concept?

Is there an actual Magocracy in Golarion? Our group is thinking of running through Kingmaker, and I'd like to make a Wizard who desires to set up a Magocracy, the only thing is I don't want to make a Stalin or Karl Marx type character that creates a government system. Also, it helps to have a good base line for how a magocracy would run, as I haven't come across any actual mage governments in the fantasy books I've read. So I really have no idea how to help set one up if I get my chance at it.

I'm looking for an old D&D supplement about Dragons. I can't remember the setting or it's name. Hell, I'm not even sure if it is D&D but I remember that the stat blocks did mention THACO and the lay out was very AD&D. Anyway, here are the details I remember 1) Blue cover with two dragons fighting on the cover. I think they were red and gold. 2) It described 12 types of dragons. The classic 10 plus the Platinum and Chromatic Dragon (Tiamat/Takhisis). 3) Artwork. The copper dragon had a beak like mouth. The red dragon has a slight horn on it's snout kind of like a ceratosaurus. The platinum did not have wings in its picture. The Blue is on a mountain and has a crown of horns more or less (Probably one of the best pictures in the book). The black dragon had a very bird like head even to the point of having feathers (looked a lot like a hawk). The Chromatic Dragon looked very similar to some of the depictions of Takhisis from Dragonlance. 4) Details that I recall. It mentioned that the more human(humanoid) blood a blue dragon consumed the deeper blue it's skin became. This is an odd one now, it mentioned that black dragons suffered mutations due to where they flew and lived, such mutations included avian heads and having four wings. At some point in the book it talks about how a mutated dragon would be treated like a human born with a rat head (then a picture of a rat headed human). If anyone can help me with this I'd be very appreciative. Thanks in advance.

What are the chances that at some point during the Pathfinder run will we see something along these lines? Is there the possibility of a book that details archetypes, prestige classes, items, adventure hooks, etc. that pull from draconic lore and themes? Possibly even seeing rules on running a Council of Wyrms style game? This comes about from glancing at the Draconomicon, Dragon Magic, and Races of the Dragon books recently and remembering how I felt that Races of the Dragon and Dragon Magic should have been one book and even then I felt them lacking in several areas mostly in class development, though plenty of other aspects were lacking. I think part of the problem at the time was rather then just providing class options WotC felt more of need to make an entire new class. Given that Pathfinder, in my opinion, has managed to hit the right balance of archetypes, base classes and prestige classes I think that the design team could give a great book detailing draconic themes/aspects.

So I just picked up Ultimate Magic and I think it is outstanding. In all honesty the only thing that disappointed me was that a spell list for the four original elementalists was not included. This isn't really a big deal and any elementalist player can just go and see which spells have the right descriptors, but more of a convenience factor for players. Just a thought for next time maybe, but please keep up the good work this was an excellent release and has me excited for Ultimate Combat.

So I'm working up a sorcerer for a group of street preformers. My idea is to make him a street magician who uses things like smokesticks and gun powder to create small explosions and fireworks to entertain, also the old standards of pulling things from behind ears and rabbits from hats all that jazz. The skill selection I'm looking at for this is Sleight of Hand, Bluff, and Perform. I'm just not sure what the Perform should be defined as.
I figure someone has made a similar street performer so I'd love your thoughts or suggestions for what to define the Perform skill as or adding different skills to the set. Thanks. |
