Livewire takes a moment to focus before dropping like a lightning bolt into the street, hidden from at least some of the gangsters by the car. Making a longer Teleport so if I understand the rules rightly, that requires concentration so my action comes last and I can't do anything but the move this panel.
@Jubal - did you leave a copy of the fellow I zapped on the map (2 sq left and 2 sq down from my position)? I thought I hit the guy at the corner of the building on the last page. To keep things moving, here's my action assuming that map is accurate and I hit someone else. As Vengeance 'ghosts', Max throws a glance at Predator-X. "Man! That guy is major league creepy." Then he throws a blast of electricity at the gunman using the corner of the building for cover. (Target guy 2 left & 2 down from me) Wield Lightning: x2 HIT, x3 DAM, (2 lvs) 125' range or 40' line
"Right. Let's go all Oprah on him." Max vanishes into a bolt of electricity that jumps into a nearby power line. Beyond the rogue hero, the blue-white sentient bolt exits the line, lashes dramatically between fire escapes on either side of the road until it grounds on a manhole some 30' away from Vengeance. Livewire reforms with a static hiss, his hands up in a gesture of surrender. The light show and sounds purposefully alert Vengeance to his visitor's presence. "Hiya. You're Vengeance, right? My name's Livewire. Can I talk with you for a second? It's about some gangbangers in the neighborhood that made some very bad decisions last night."
Max works his way into his third cup of coffee and a jelly doughnut as the others mobilize. He deftly invokes google maps on his phone and studies Kirby Row. "I'll meet you guys there after I caffeine up... corner of 13th Street and Rapelye." He's in no hurry. The general neglect affecting Kirby Row didn't reach the infrastructure to any noticeable extent. The area was still tied into the power grid and landline network, which made it easy for Max to reach it. He finishes his coffee at a leisurely pace, takes a quick shower (while polishing off a jelly doughnut), and checks his email. When he figures the black Suburban is likely approaching their meeting location, he pulls down his wool cap/mask and 'jumps' into the nearby wall socket, converting himself into a sentient pulse of electricity. In only a few seconds, he navigates the power grid and emerges from a battered transformer near Rapelye and 13th.
Jubal wrote: ...your bilateral relationships... Did you kiss your mother with that mouth?! :) Max (aka Livewire) is friendly/approachable and open about his public identity with his teammates. If they come to his bar, they will get comp'd drinks. Obviously, if he doesn't know a teammate's public ID, he wouldn't know to take care of them. Max has an apartment mate (Dave) with an obnoxious girlfriend (Sheila). They don't know about his double life and he tries hard to keep it from them. Given his odd hours as a bartender and his social life - coming and going at all hours isn't a tough sell to Dave/Sheila. I'm happy to flesh out any existing relationships, just pitch something that seems reasonable.
Thanks for the advice... just a couple of 'what-ifs'. In terms of allocating my multipliers, based on your experience, does x2 to Hit give a fair chance to hit your average thug... or low end super-heroes? Or should I really be trying to keep my multiplier to Hit at x3 or better to tag baddies? I'm just trying to gauge a reasonable Hit/Damage ratio. Jubal wrote: If you're caught in melee, your base attack is x1 to hit and x1 to damage, and you get to add 4 multipliers. OK, so it sounds like I can't reduce my range to '0' (touch) to make it 5 multipliers - correct? I'm assuming there is no limit on how I spread my multipliers (aside from not going below x1)... so if I want to hit an Agility baddy, I can go with x4 to Hit and x2 to Dam? Also - advice-wise - should I avoid delivering just x1 Damage because it is likely to get soaked? I'm good with his Teleport staying as it is. It may be shorter range but I think it makes more sense that he can 'jump' to anything metallic or that will ground an electrical charge. It should be more tactically fun even if it reduces his range.
I'll take a swipe at the list. No offense intended with my curt descriptions. Waskally w/ Joe Wesker & Kaixin: Mentalist/Occultist
