Livewire hook shots a particularly searing ball of lightning on the oddly repetitive villain.

Wield Lightning: x3 HIT, x3 DAM, (1 lv) 25' range or 20' line
HIT: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8 x3 = 24
HIT: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 4) = 19 x3 = 57

Livewire bounces onto a nearby roof and drops a ball of lightning on the manic hero/villain.

Shooting Mr. Slasher Arms

Wield Lightning: x3 HIT, x3 DAM, (1 lv) 25' range or 20' line
HIT: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8 x3 = 24
HIT: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5) = 7 x3 = 21

Livewire 'zaps' a short distance, lines up a couple thugs, and sends bolt of lightning through both of them.

Shooting Blue Thug and Green Thug

Wield Lightning: x2 HIT, x4 DAM, (1 lv) 25' range or 20' line
HIT: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10 x2 = 20
HIT: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 x4 = 16

Livewire takes a moment to focus before dropping like a lightning bolt into the street, hidden from at least some of the gangsters by the car.

Making a longer Teleport so if I understand the rules rightly, that requires concentration so my action comes last and I can't do anything but the move this panel.

Ah, OK. Since I have a move left, I'll revise my action so that Livewire zaps to the edge of the building (on map) and then hits the guy directly below him with the bolt.

@Jubal - did you leave a copy of the fellow I zapped on the map (2 sq left and 2 sq down from my position)? I thought I hit the guy at the corner of the building on the last page.

To keep things moving, here's my action assuming that map is accurate and I hit someone else.

As Vengeance 'ghosts', Max throws a glance at Predator-X. "Man! That guy is major league creepy." Then he throws a blast of electricity at the gunman using the corner of the building for cover. (Target guy 2 left & 2 down from me)

Wield Lightning: x2 HIT, x3 DAM, (2 lvs) 125' range or 40' line
HIT: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11 x2 = 22
HIT: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11 x3 = 33

Livewire 'zaps' across the rooftop then hurls a bolt of lightning at the nearest gunman.

Wield Lightning: x2 HIT, x4 DAM, 25' range or 20' line
HIT: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7 x2 = 14
HIT: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1) = 11 x4 = 44

Me too.

Certain that he can't stop Vengeance from going, and seeing the value in observing the scary 'hero' to figure out the truth of his claims, Max responds to Vengeance and tries to tip his team to his play through the shared comm line. "Maybe we'll find the Killer over there. Let's go."

Max treads carefully, spying the loose threads in Vengeance's story. "You didn't see him at all? Did the Killer arrive after you left or was he I-dunno 'cloaked' somehow?"

"No argument here. What did this guy look like? Did he come in after you fought these gangsters? Cuz the cops think you killed them."

Max takes an unconscious step backwards, but presses on nervously. "Great... So, like I said, these three gangbangers got into fights last night at..." <insert street locations> "Were you involved in those fights or did you witness them?"

"Right. Let's go all Oprah on him." Max vanishes into a bolt of electricity that jumps into a nearby power line. Beyond the rogue hero, the blue-white sentient bolt exits the line, lashes dramatically between fire escapes on either side of the road until it grounds on a manhole some 30' away from Vengeance. Livewire reforms with a static hiss, his hands up in a gesture of surrender. The light show and sounds purposefully alert Vengeance to his visitor's presence.

"Hiya. You're Vengeance, right? My name's Livewire. Can I talk with you for a second? It's about some gangbangers in the neighborhood that made some very bad decisions last night."

"As my ma told me, 'You're a lover, not a fighter.' I just wanna chat with the guy. I'm not convinced he's our killer. Joe... would you be able to tell if someone was possessed or something like that?"

"How about I go land a bit behind him - openly - and see if I can get him talking. Then you can guys can approach him from the other side."

Max hrmphs, frustrated by the lack of a solid lead to pursue. "Yeah, looks like we'll have to prowl around tonight, cast a wide net, and hope to catch a break."

Hey folks,

Sorry for unexplained absence. I got dragged into an unplanned business trip that went far longer than advertised. I'll catch up and post as soon as I can - most likely tomorrow. If you've had to replace my character in the mean time, I understand.

Half to the old lady and half to the cops, Max asks, "Was the gun found?"

Not a skilled investigator, Livewire just roams around Hmming trying to make it appear like he's looking for clues.

So we can't do a general Mind check to assist here? Is that correct?

"I'm finishing my coffee first."

Ready to go!

Max works his way into his third cup of coffee and a jelly doughnut as the others mobilize. He deftly invokes google maps on his phone and studies Kirby Row. "I'll meet you guys there after I caffeine up... corner of 13th Street and Rapelye."

He's in no hurry. The general neglect affecting Kirby Row didn't reach the infrastructure to any noticeable extent. The area was still tied into the power grid and landline network, which made it easy for Max to reach it. He finishes his coffee at a leisurely pace, takes a quick shower (while polishing off a jelly doughnut), and checks his email. When he figures the black Suburban is likely approaching their meeting location, he pulls down his wool cap/mask and 'jumps' into the nearby wall socket, converting himself into a sentient pulse of electricity. In only a few seconds, he navigates the power grid and emerges from a battered transformer near Rapelye and 13th.

Kenny, you get to roll another die since you rolled a double. If you roll another 6, keeping rolling until you don't. The combined total will be your score.

Max grunts into his coffee cup. "With all the vics being from different gangs, maybe someone is trying to kick off a gang war? Could be for revenge... or profit."

What kind of roll would we use to 'know' about the number of gangs in Destitution Drive. Mind Roll?

Mind Roll: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3 x2 = 6

Having worked a double-shift the night before, Max is clinging to his second cup of coffee like a lifeline. "Three in one night? Someone's trying to get their Stabby Merit Badge."

...your bilateral relationships...

Did you kiss your mother with that mouth?! :)

Max (aka Livewire) is friendly/approachable and open about his public identity with his teammates. If they come to his bar, they will get comp'd drinks. Obviously, if he doesn't know a teammate's public ID, he wouldn't know to take care of them.

Max has an apartment mate (Dave) with an obnoxious girlfriend (Sheila). They don't know about his double life and he tries hard to keep it from them. Given his odd hours as a bartender and his social life - coming and going at all hours isn't a tough sell to Dave/Sheila.

I'm happy to flesh out any existing relationships, just pitch something that seems reasonable.

Thanks for the advice... just a couple of 'what-ifs'. In terms of allocating my multipliers, based on your experience, does x2 to Hit give a fair chance to hit your average thug... or low end super-heroes? Or should I really be trying to keep my multiplier to Hit at x3 or better to tag baddies? I'm just trying to gauge a reasonable Hit/Damage ratio.

Jubal wrote:
If you're caught in melee, your base attack is x1 to hit and x1 to damage, and you get to add 4 multipliers.

OK, so it sounds like I can't reduce my range to '0' (touch) to make it 5 multipliers - correct?

I'm assuming there is no limit on how I spread my multipliers (aside from not going below x1)... so if I want to hit an Agility baddy, I can go with x4 to Hit and x2 to Dam?

Also - advice-wise - should I avoid delivering just x1 Damage because it is likely to get soaked?

I'm good with his Teleport staying as it is. It may be shorter range but I think it makes more sense that he can 'jump' to anything metallic or that will ground an electrical charge. It should be more tactically fun even if it reduces his range.

I'll take a swipe at the list. No offense intended with my curt descriptions.

Hey Jubal,

I'm not sure on one point... Are you OK with us taking a Weakness to get an extra point or two to spend, or would you prefer we stay at our 'no weaknesses' point totals for play balance?
