Female Gnome Artificer 6

Seeing the hammer that Elvombor has drawn, Liriel gives him an encouraging smile.

"I'll see what I can do with your weapon in a moment, but first lets give you some protection against what it's going to try to do." She touchs his armor, casting an Armor Enhancement infusion to give his armor the property of Electrical Resistance 20.

Female Gnome Artificer 6

Just in case you need an init roll for me

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Female Gnome Artificer 6

"Especially since they've gone to all the trouble of bringing their own defeat with them. Time for some skeet shooting! Let's get on the combat deck, I know the way!"

As her opening move, Liriel is going to wait until the Harpies carrying barrels come into range and then lob a fireball into their ranks.

Wand of Firebal cast DC 13 6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 3, 6, 2) = 22

Twinkletoes sighs. "So true." He replies then turns back to collect his scattered tools.

You take a look at the engine and feel a sigh of your own coming on at its state of disrepair. Caranden tried his best no doubt but it looks like you have days of work ahead of you before the engine is in tip top shape again.

"Tell you what, Carenden. Get something to eat... get us both something to eat. And make it a good meal, we're going to be here awhile." Liriel starts unpacking her tools and sets them to order.

"Liriel Opaline, pleased to meet you." She takes the hand and shakes it vigorously. "You'd better learn to be light and fast on those twinkle toes if you're going to last under Liam."

Female Gnome Artificer 6

First place that Liriel goes to is the engine room to refamilliarise herself with the engine and the repairs she made last time she was here.

A female elf with long blonde hair enters the cabin and approaches the table.

"What's with the monster corpses outside, Liam?" She asks.

"Pariem! Where have you been?" Liam inquires, ignoring her question. "Liriel this is my first mate, one of the finest sorceresses I've ever met." He introduces her.

The elf raises an eyebrow and then a hand, offering to shake. "Pleased to meet you." She says.

Sorcery huh? Must be real handy not having to clunk around a spellbook! I'm Liriel Opaline, "Liriel" or "Opal" to my friends. Formerly Engineer First Standing on Ceran's Folly. I hear it's been raining burnt gargoyles lately." Liriel takes her hand and shakes it with great enthuisasm.

Female Gnome Artificer 6

Taking over a secluded table nook, Liriel starts laying out the copies she made of the maps she found at Margrave. "This basically is the area we're going to practise some treasure hunting in. What I need for you to do is to take us there and if possible pick us back up in a week. I don't need you take us all the way back to Sharn, dropping us off at a lightning rail station would do nicely. And I'll look over your engines on the way up. Besides from the way things look, I'd warrantyou weren't planning on laying over in town that long anyway."

Female Gnome Artificer 6

Liriel winces from her wounds but collects herself again. "More bad luck at the gambling tables, Liam? You really should be more selective about whom you put yourself in debt to. Perhaps one might take this as a sign from the Gods to make an early departure from town once we've worked out where you're going to take us then?"

Female Gnome Artificer 6

will hold her next action depending how things further unfold.

Female Gnome Artificer 6

If the gargoyles are still aloft, Liriel switches out her current wand for a ruby red one. If they're grounded, she'll move to a spot where she can catch two or more enemies in a line and use the lightning bolt wand instead. (dice are the same though)

"Hey you overgrown, overly mobile excuses for stone statues! You look way to chilled out for my tastes!"

Wand of Fireball 5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 6, 6) = 25 Reflex DC 14

Longbow VS AC 16: Hit 7 damage to the bugbear

I think the roll a 1 and fail automatically doesn't apply to skill checks, I'll try and look it up later but in this instance I rule you succeed. Question: Who are the magic missiles targeting, all on the elf?

Yes.

Female Gnome Artificer 6

Technically the rule is "If you roll a 1 and fail" I think I actually make the DC with a 20 so it's your call if the wand goes off or not. Also eliminate the last die +1 from that damage roll, the wand only does 3 dice

Female Gnome Artificer 6

"When you go crying to your cleric, or your god, remember that it was your choice that put yourself there."

She pulls out her wand and fires (automatic unless she rolls a 1)

UMD roll 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (1) + 19 = 20

Magic missle attack 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 1) + 4 = 12

Female Gnome Artificer 6

"Shush Lyre. It doesn't matter what his problem is we were here first!"

"Hey Longears! Liam is with us. You've got your two buddies, and Liam has all of us. Settle your beef another time or face some really expensive consequences." She calls out as she puts her hand visibly on her wand.

Female Gnome Artificer 6

"You know Liam, today is your lucky day. As it so happens, me and my fellows are planning a bit of an archeological expedition. In exchange for a bit of transportational assistance, I'll call it square between us and take a look at what abuse you've done to my engineworks."

Female Gnome Artificer 6

Liriel returns Liam's greeting with her customary twinkle in her eye. "Been berthed here for awhile ever since Ceran ran out of dodges and his debts finally caught up to him and the courts seized his ship. So, I've got new companions now. We were doing some research at Margrave when I saw that flying accident you call a ship come in. And where have you been these days.? Keeping better distance from dragons I hope."

Female Gnome Artificer 6

"Great!. It looks like all we need to do is get the best map we need of the area, pack up our bags and buy ourselves tickets to the nearest lightning rail stop."

Female Gnome Artificer 6

"Well, there are a bunch of maps and logs and stuff. We should probably go over as much of them as we can, particurlarly the records of the last battle recorded here to see if we have a likely suspect. Either the Egg we seek was left on the Field, or it was taken off by either a survivor or a later looter."

Female Gnome Artificer 6

"My good lady elf," Liriel replies. "We wish to research an area of the Mournland known as the Field of Ruins. Particurlarly what history there might be of the last battle fought there."

Liriel allows herself a wicked smile as she sees her bolt strike home and the effectiveness of the mages lightning strike. Her smile grows broader at the ineffectiveness of the minion's retaliatory strike.

"A word of advice." she offers. "Basically.... run."

On her turn she will use her move action to load a crossbow bolt. She will ready an action to fire at a free target at whoever decides to ignore her advice.

"Prepare? a craftsman from Zilargo is always prepared." The gnome replies.

She steps backward as she pulls out a wand and aims it at the monk.

'You're not going to harm my friends."

AT DC 20 the UMD roll is automatic. All three missles being aimed at our would-be prophet. Btw the featherfall spell is effecively a group spell if cast right.

I just realized I haven't really described Sharn itself, rather relying on your meta game knowledge of Eberron. Sharn is basically made up of a large number of very big towers interconnected by a webway of bridges. Thematically I imagine it a bit like the planet Coruscant from Stars Wars but with a smaller, more fantasy scale. If you don't get the nerdy Stars Wars reference I'll describe it better when I have a bit more time later=)

While we're waiting here's a piece of artwork from the folks at wizards.

Whether he deserves the Egg or not is irrelevant. By taking his money we've already signed up for the job. And who knows what we might pick up along the way?"

Freed from the presence of the malodorous Midas, what would you like to do?

"Let's find our way out of this dreadful neighborhood and toward a map." Elvom turns to Liriel to ask, "Are you familiar with the places of this city?" It seems that he is not.

"I've spent some time here. But now that we have some funds it hardly matters. Once you know where you want to go, then it's just a matter of a bit of coin to hire a skycoach to take you there." She holds out a few coins from her advance and clinks them together. "And now that we've got some coin, I suggest our first stop to be the library at Margrave University, where we can do some tracing of a map of the Field of Ruins. Female Gnome Artificer 6

a passage from a book Review of "The Logs of Ceran's Folly" character review section.

One of the more notable minor characters, Liriel Opaline, native of the gnome nation of Zilargo, she was apprenticed to Xorius Canatar, a master artificer affiliated with House Cannith. When the publicly known creation forges of Sharn were closed by treaty, the resulting cutbacks left Liriel on her own as an independent adventurer.
Taking an opportunity she apprenticed herself for passage aboard the windship Ceran's Folly, joining it's crew of privateers and freebooters in various commercial and quasi-legal activities across Khorvaire and later on Xendrik. Becoming master engineer after Rotan's death, she became known for her highly "innovative" approach to modification and the frequent emergency repairs, and occasional escapes established her place in the ship's crew. After the Ceran's Folly was seized in a legal settlement, like most of the Folly's crew, she dropped out of sight and her whereabouts are are unknown today.
Given the improbable nature of the adventure's related in the log, this reviewer shares the popular opinion that Liriel Opaline was the product of the rogue Ceran's fertile imagination.

....making the character that is.

Female Gnome Artificer 6

Windship engineer, well somewhat between jobs at the moment, checking in.

"We're traveling a mile and a half off of the ground, moving faster than the wind. this levitational is a precision instrument. Should I be one bit off in this adjustment, we're going to probably fall to our deaths. This requires the most precise adjustment with no margin for error!" WHAM!

-From "The Log of "Ceran's Folly", available at trendy bookstores throughout Khorvaire.

To be honest, Midnight game takes a lot of my time and I am beginning to think that I will not be able to DM both games to my and players satisfaction. I am very sorry, but I will have to end Eberron game. For those who are left without the game to play in, I can extend the offer to create characters for Midnight. That game is progressing rather well and with high death rate in Midnight and considering my plans for dividing the game later on in two or more points of view, there will be room for new characters.

Once again, I am sorry for wasting your time.

From your posts in the Midnight OOC thread, it looks like you're straining to run even that game as it is now. Last thing you need is a bunch of newbies to that thread, at least until you get stabilised a bit.

Best of luck.
