Character concept sounds fun, several other character's have mysteries haunting their pasts you would be well equipped to help solve as details come to light.
Also, for concept of the character, I would like to go the route of an inquisitive oddly enough. Sorta like Johna Hex actually...something of a dislikable fellow who solves crimes by talking to the dead and using some pretty dark magic.
Raeli would certainly be interested in allying with someone with this skill set! :)
The Twelve is a magical college/insitution solely made up of members from the Dragonmarked Houses. I believe one of its main objectives is using magic to further the causes of the various Houses and their mercanitle activities.

Yes I think it's been long enough that everyone who is interested has had a chance to respond. I'm going to start a new thread in the play by post discussion section later to address this. It shall be called Eberron: Party Formation. That is all. -teleports to a different thread-

Apologies but we have two full parties worth of players now so I'm going to have to shut down recruitment. However I will most likely start up another PbP game in the future and you would be welcome to join that when it comes.
