HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

I could use another potion of cure light wounds. Beyond that, I'd just say figure out what the sale value on all the stuff is and I'll take my cut in cash if possible.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line will again swing his axe against the thing using power attack. He yells, "The line holds!"

Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

I have this feeling of deja vu. :-)

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line thinks, "A worthy opponent at last."

Line draws his waraxe as he advances to meet the foe giving forth his battle cry, "The line holds!" Line then attacks it with his axe making use of power attack.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line will move two squares diagonally SW and then throw his chakram at the protector.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

I need to back up a couple of minutes game time. I forgot that Line had some potions of cure light wounds on him. He definitely would have used one or two of them.

Cure light wounds potion: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

And that brings him back to full health. Let's say that Line was 10 squares from the door when the other group walked in, so now he should be 7 squares from them.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

What's the range to them?

Line thinks, "This is getting annoying. Was the entire forest filled with evil items?"

Line faces the Black Banners, readies his shield and draws a chakram. He says, "Fine. I'll start with a chakram."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

It helps. :-)

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Reflex save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

So he made the save for half damage. 11 ÷ 2 = 5.5, round down for 5 pts. Elemental Vulnerability increases that by 50%, but once again one would drop the decimal so Line takes 7 points of damage.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line throws a chakram at the beetle.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

I certainly don't need a ring of swimming. :-)

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line takes his axe to the evil items and thoroughly chops them up.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line goes to retrieve his chakram, avoiding the items on the two bodies.

Returning to the group he says, "What next?"

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line moves 2 squares to the NY and throws his chakram at Pudge.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Ouch. Hope things improve for you soon.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

K. Arcana: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Spellcraft: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Line readies a chakram and says, "You want my chakram? I will give you my chakram."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line doesn't know what the heck it is, but decides that it is a threat. He draws his chakram and says (to the chakram), "You better fly right this time or I'm going to swap you into the backpack."

Attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

And the chakram obviously ignored him.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line retrieves his chakram and looks it over carefully. Then he puts it back in its holder. He says, "That sounds good to me."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line will go ahead, draw and throw a chakram at the bear.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

I shouldn't need light. :-) I think most of the party has darkvision.

Line says, "I think we should follow the humanoid tracks."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

I would prefer option 1.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line says, "Let's go to Earth's Embrace. It's closer."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line will recover his chakram and then remain on watch all night.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Shorter than I thought it would be. Not sure what I would want to do next.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line suspects that slashing weapons might be better against a plant than piercing weapons. So he throws a chakram at it.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Though it would help if he could actually hit it.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Having more or less reached the spot they were heading for, Line stops and waits to see what everybody else wants to do.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Assuming Klujjen moves with the group, Line will also. Taking a rear guard position until the wolf is out of sight.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line will move 10 feet east, passing by Dana and ending up between Klujjen and Xildhal. Line will put the chakram away and draw his waraxe.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line rigs his shield for battle and readies a chakram.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line will either take point, or more likely the position behind point with a scout type on point. Line won't need a trail ration, but will suggest taking slow speed and resting when needed.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line says, "I am ready to leave when you all are. With or without a Black Banner makes no difference to me."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line says to Lorkyhay, "You're a sorcerer. You can probably do all kinds of things most people would neither suspect nor notice. Besides, I never said you were in the office, you did. So why were you by your own admission hanging out invisibly in the Sheriff's office?"

Intimidate check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line will try questioning Lorkyhay, asking him: "What were you really doing by the Sheriff's office?"

Intimidate check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Might have some success. :-)

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line goes to the inn and simply finds a spot to sit down. He will spend the night just quietly sitting.

Next day:

Line will leave questioning the various witnesses to the other characters, at least initially. He will look over the crime scene though.

Perception check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line walks over to Dana and says in his bizarre monotone voice, "My name is Line. I usually try to protect people. Somewhat strangely though, in many cases trying to protect some people means having to hurt others. A task that I am accomplished at, though at least this time it was not necessary."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line puts his sap away and slings his shield back over his left shoulder.

He thinks, "It is good to find out that my new friends are so capable. All I had to do was stand around and look menacing. Though I doubt that all our battles will be so easy."

Line appreciates the sheriff's offer, but lets the innkeeper know that all he really needs is just a spot to sit down where he won't be in anybody's way.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line was speaking to the Black Banners as they were the ones who were most directly threatening to knock people out.

Intimidate check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

And got a pretty good result.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

The only way Line can hit somebody for nonlethal damage is to use his sap as his natural attack slam does lethal damage. But pulling out his sap would be "pulling a weapon". Hmmm.

Line says, "I am not a being of flesh and blood such as you are. My fists are lethal weapons."

Line draws his sap. He says, "But if any of you are stupid enough to attack me or my friends I will show you the error of your ways."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Hope you can get work soon. Not because I want you to post less often, but because I know far too well that one's expenses don't stop when one's income does.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line does not draw a weapon, but he does shift his shield from its slung position to where it is ready for use on his shield arm. Line moves into a position alongside Klujjen.

Line says in his bizarre monotone voice, at a somewhat louder than usual volume, "Stand down!"

Intimidate check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

You just have to learn to live with the fact that the RNG is in league with the forces of darkness. :-)

Line simply stands in the background with his shield slung over his shoulder while the other characters do all the talking.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

The first thing Line would have done is retrieved and cleaned his chakram. :-)

Line has no interest in the items that have been found so far. When the group gets to the inn Line says to the other characters, "Perhaps one of you should take the lead in a setting like this."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line says, "Ok everybody. On the count of three. One, two, three."

Line throws his chakram at the closest dog.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Waiting on 1 more.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Waiting to make sure everybody else is ready before I throw my chakram.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line says, "If I thought these dogs were somebody's pets I would try to see if I could handle them. But these appear to be wild animals that have a taste for humanoid flesh."

Line puts his axe away and pulls out a chakram. He says, "I would suggest that we take the chance we have to soften them up with missile fire before they close for melee combat. After we take our shots, those of you who think they are squishy should get behind me."

Line advances a little to where he is 20 feet from the closest dog.

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

No problem. The circumstances lend themselves to confused reactions. :-)

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line replies to Xildhal:

"I am an advanced golem variant that is called a golemnoid. Unlike a regular golem I am much more life like. I am self aware and capable of deciding on my own course of action like any human could. I also heal naturally over time unlike a regular golem that must be repaired by skilled craftsmen."

Then the teleport occurs.

Line looks around and says, "What just happened? It's like we went through some sort of doorway without actually moving. Regardless, this place appears to be dangerous."

Line rigs his shield for battle and readies his waraxe as he looks around.

Perception check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Line then moves up to the corpse and examines it. Any indication of what killed it?

Perception check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line replies in his strange monotone:

"I was created 30 years ago as a living weapon of war. I served for 20 years in a heavy infantry shield wall brigade that bore the brunt of the fighting with my country's most bitter enemy. Even though we were eventually victorious in that conflict the larger war that struggle was only a part of still raged."

"While the brigade I was in had performed well in combat and had won numerous battle honors, a new generation coming to power in my country's government decided that replacing the losses we suffered in sustained heavy combat was too expensive. The brigade was disbanded and we were assigned in small groups, usually 10 unit squads, to various supporting roles. Again we performed our assigned tasks well. The losses that we suffered by and large dropped to a fraction of what they would have been had we remained fighting as a brigade on the front lines. The people that we displaced who ended up serving on the front in our stead were not happy with that turn of events. But the new leadership in our country did not seem to care. They appeared to be satisfied with the money they were saving."

"While I am not as good at spotting things as a custom designed or trained and experienced scout would be, I nevertheless see better than an average human. Especially in the dark."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line says, "I can't say much about unlikely places, but you may have found unlikely allies."

HP 20/20 | AC 24, T 11, FF 23 | Init +4 | F +5, R +2, W +1 | Darkvision 60 ft, Perception +1 Golemnoid Fighter/2

Line twists and turns around some in his chair moving as he has to in order to bring his shield around. He is not trying to wear the shield as one would for battle, merely making sure that the design on it is easily seen. Line points to the various parts of the design as he describes it. He says:

"Take a look at the design on my shield. You will see that there are 4 relatively large circles arranged in a square and oriented such that one of the corners of the square points to my right when I would be wearing the shield. They are surrounded by 6 smaller circles arranged in a hexagon. One of the points of the hexagon also faces towards my right. That is not just any old pattern, that is what the moons on the world I am from look like as they travel through the sky. Both the inner square and the outer hexagon point to the west."

Line's show and tell over he slings his shield back over his left shoulder. He continues with his tale.

"My last assignment back home was working as a caravan guard. The caravan that I was with got attacked by an overwhelming enemy force and broke up. I fought my way clear and found myself alone. I wandered for over a week trying to find my way back to a place that was familiar. What I found instead was the ruin of an ancient city with an archway standing by itself in a prominent spot. Occasionally other locations would be visible through the archway. When I saw an area through the archway that looked sort of familiar I walked through the arch. Thus I found myself on this world and discovered that I could not go back."
