"Mino, can you do deep research of the company? Like who are its customers?" Coldwar asks.

"Have you done a complete inventory? Double-checked each sample? Maybe you have more. How many do you have to recheck?" Coldwar asks.

Coldwar shrugs but walks over to the cold storage vault to investigate. He doesn't touch it but moves around the surface to examine anything out of place.

"Definitely supers are involved. Hope the investigation is obvious. Meet you at the jet." Coldwar announces and suits up in his Iceform. Then, he heads to the hangar.

Give it a go

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

OK. What is the plan?

May I suggest, WhtKnt, that you tell us what game that you want/plan to run. Maybe compare it to known books, tv, or movies.

Then, we can recalibrate our characters.

Seems like we have 4 players, ready to go.

cheers

I'm still here. And if you want to run a detective story, I'll need to retool to be useful

Over the comms, Coldwar announces, "Alright, the daughter's husband Charles Fremault checks out clean as a broker from Metropolis. The mother Angelica Cooper was killed during a mugging gone horribly wrong. Her killer is serving a life sentence at Blackgate."

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

Over the comms, Coldwar shares, "It appears the professor was largely a loner. His daughter, 28 years old, moved to Metropolis about 8 years ago when she wed a Charles Fremault. And her mother, Angelica Cooper, was murdered."

Research the murder and Charles Fremault for background information that might be relevant to the case.

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

"Let me investigate." Coldwar replies to MINOTAR on the comms.

He then looks about what happened to the daughter's mother and potential colleagues of the professor.

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

Over the comms, Coldwar provides, "I haven't found any information about anything that uses diamonds, but I did find several references to a supposed "super-weapon" project that the military was working on. Speculation holds that it was some kind of laser weapon. And, thi professor holds doctorates in physics and mathematics and a master's in engineering."

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

"Copy." Coldwar replies with soldier reflexes kicking in.

Then, he turns the dials and types things into their Justice League computer for any information on our missing person that might not be in public records or could be redacted by the government and considered 'Top Secret'. Then, he asks the JL computer to search various internet sources, feeds, or 'Dark Web' for any rumors or leads on a device or machine of some sort that uses diamonds or runs on diamonds.

"MINOTAUR told YOU your first joke. He's been working on his sense of humor for awhile." Leo replies to Tab.

To Leon he replies, "Dick, fix it now. Or, someone will make a judgment call in a combat." He walks back to the TV room shaking his head.

Back at the Apartment of Justice

Leo walks in wearing jeans, Broncos t-shirt, and pink bunny slippers. "You guys solve the robbery yet? At least have a lead?" He takes a sip from his Fat Tire beer bottle in an koozie made of ice.

Looking at Leon, he suggests, "Straightjacket is pissed. You better make things right soon. I don't want it all Big Brother in here."

Coldwar returns to the Javelin with the group.

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

this is totally in character. No offense intended.

Coldwar reacts to the Paper's flip comment. "His father's a ghost, jack@ss. Which appears to be the M.O. of the thief. You got better lead yet, thief?"

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

"Hey Straightjacket. Does your Dad see anything fishy around here?" Coldwar asks waiting for the new guy to find a lead.

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

"Wait worthless? Diamonds were expensive on my world. Is that another opposite value, like the nature of good and evil? Are diamonds connected to good and evil?" Coldwar reacts to Tab's connects and starts down a philosophical rabbit hole.

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

"Thief? Perfect timing. We don't need a detective on the team. We have a professional. Carry on Mr. Moore." Coldwar crosses his arms across his organic ice chest and watches the Paper follow the clues.

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

Coldwar follows Agent Rothman back to the group. "Wait. He isn't an agent. You are? And you're only here to deliver him, presumably a criminal, if he is on a work release parole? So now, we're jailers, as well as detectives? This just keeps getting better."

He creates an ice sculpture of a lounge chair and sits down. "This is when, Nightwing finds a clue. Who's our detective here?"

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

Coldwar steps lightly away from the crime scene thankful that someone with investigative authority and capabilities had arrived.

He had just begun to appreciate the arts of detective work during his teamwork with Nightwing.

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

"Well, let's go talk to the detectives as an outreach. No need to aggravate the local authorities, right?" Coldwar asserts and suits up by encasing himself in a block of ice and breaking out to a theme song.

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

Coldwar nods in genuine interest and replies to Fairy Tale, "What court of fey do you belong to? And, why are you joining the league?"

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

Leo Snart is in his late twenties. He stands five foot eight inches tall and has a slim build weighing 145 pounds. He has short brown hair and gray colored eyes. He wears jeans and a Denver Broncos t-shirt, despite the cool temperature.

Coldwar nods at his name and creates ice sculptures of the names of the three new Leaguers. "Welcome, rookies. So, what can you do besides heal, Tab? Do you prefer Tab or Ross, because Tabula Rosa is a mouthful?"

After Tabula Rosa answers, he asks Fairy Tale, "What about you, Fairy Tale? How can you help the team? And, what can you tell us about the hidden world of faeries?" Clearly, he is genuinely interested.

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

"What did you do for fun in Pueblo? What did you want to do before getting your powers?"

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

"Did you ever get the gangsters who killed your dad?" Leo asks Straightjacket.

"Oh. So, you grew up around here? What was it like? I grew up in Central City."

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

I suspected. But, I'm just RPing to keep the Gameplay alive.

After a comfortable pause to change topics and swig of beer, Leo asks, "You said a minute ago 'I'm not at Mines you know.' What's Mines?"

And then, he turns to Minotaur and asks, "Hey, Minotaur? How long have you been sentient? What's the funniest thing about humans that you've encountered?"

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yes, please. It seems like there are only 3 of us before Fairy Tale

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

"So as a ghost, can he tell you what's after death? Has he met any other ghosts?" Leo continues to question this interesting phenomenon.

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

Coldwar's eyes open like saucers. Then, he looks around. "This isn't a trick on the new guy is it?"

After Straightjacket assures him that it is not a trick and that he truly believes in the presence of this father, Leo gets coldly serious again, "So, can you tell me about your father? What do you think tethers him here? Could it be a metagene, too?"

Human Iceman | Damage 0 | Dodge 6 | Parry 4 | Fortitude 7(1) | Toughness 10(1) | Will 8

"What do you mean by sort of killing your father and mostly dead? My experience has that state being very binary. If you don't mind my curiosity?" Leo says coldly.

Go for it

Leo appreciates the bonding time with David learning his story and reason for heroics. For his part, he shares his background over the evening and pizza. He was from Earth-3 where teachers and philosophers taught their students to “do no good” rather than to “do no harm.” And, world leaders and heroes of the planet sought to maintain chaos and corruption rather than peace.

A complete opposite of Earth-0 in every way, good and evil were reversed in the ruthless nations of Earth-3. Greed, ambition and conquest were rewarded, especially when they come at the expense of others. Heroes had no place in a world like this, and so it’s a collective of villains that sought to prolong and foster Earth-3’s way of life: Ultraman, Superwoman, Owlman, Power Ring, Johnny Quick, the Sea King, Atomica and Grid. Or as they’re better known, the Crime Syndicate. Eventually, the entire world was eliminated by an even larger instrument of devastation, the Anti-Monitor. Now, only a few members of the Crime Syndicate and Leo remain after fleeing from their Earth.

Leo grew up in a family of rebels. During his childhood, the Crime Syndicate tortured him to motivate his parents to behave using an ice-creating gun. Many years later during puberty, Leo developed abilities to control cold temperatures, including transforming into organic ice. His connection with water and temperature variations have also heightened his perceptions of his environment, too.

Cold and calculating. That’s the best way to describe him, and it’s how he approaches life. No fuss and no muss. Transforming into an organic ice form, Leo became Coldwar, one of Johnny Quick's most chillingly dangerous foes. Whether on his own or leading the gang of Central City rebels known as the Rogues, Coldwar approached the job at hand with an utter lack of emotion. His only care was getting it done as efficiently as possible.

And yet, for a rebel, Coldwar is surprisingly ethical. He follows a strict Code of Honor: no drugs, no senseless violence, and above all, no killing women or children. He brought that code to the Rogues, convincing them that if anyone breaks it, they risked bringing the hammer down on themselves all that much harder, and with members in jail, the gang was less effective.

When the Anti-Monitor wiped out Earth-3, Leo was in the middle of a job, deep into the vaults of the Crime Syndicate. In the wake of Flash, Coldwar got pulled through a breach into Earth-0. Before the Justice League selected him for the Rocky Mountain crew, Nightwing recruited Coldwar to support the Gotham Resistance.

He reaches out to any of the team members to hang out to get to know them better. While he is cold and calculating, he needs to know more about his teammates, in order to be more effective.
