Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

I really enjoyed this. I don't play a lot of clerics but this is a character that I will be talking about for a while. Well done GM!

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

"Hmm. He may have a point." With a flick of his wrist, Frost Brand appears in Lector's hand. "We could just kill him now." Lector proposes casually.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector leans down with a twisted grin. "You're lucky I'm working under contract, or you wouldn't be treated so nicely for what you've done."

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector loses himself to the madness and roars, raining down a trio of blows on the construct!

Attack: 1d20 + 20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 20 + 7 + 1 = 46
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 7 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 21 + 7 + 7 + (2) = 46

Attack: 1d20 + 12 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 7 + 1 = 26
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 21 + 7 + (1) = 31

Haste Attack: 1d20 + 20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 20 + 7 + 1 = 38
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 7 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 21 + 7 + 7 + (3) = 46

Activating speed armor, fury of the abyss, and ferocious strike (on first and last attacks).

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector activates his armor and sprints out into the open area.

Double move.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

I have returned early. Let's get this moving!

Lector casts displacement on himself and moves forward with a grimace. He also whispers a word of advice to Tychi...

I have breath of life and heal both prepared. Go ham.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Ah, summoned creatures. Soaking damage since first edition.

Btw I don't want to get anywhere near these guys. Their grapple checks are stupid high, and my CMD is not impressive.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

The anaconda tries to regain control, fighting to the bloody end.

Bite (power attack): 1d20 + 19 - 3 ⇒ (9) + 19 - 3 = 25
Damage: 4d6 + 19 + 9 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 6) + 19 + 9 = 47

Grab: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (6) + 30 = 36
Constrict: 4d6 + 19 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 4) + 19 = 31

Meanwhile Lector summons a grasping hand to grab the crab.

Grapple: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (14) + 25 = 39

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Grapple ME will you? Let's see how you like it... A gargantuan anaconda appears out of the ether and attacks the fleeing brass guardian.

Bite (power attack): 1d20 + 19 - 3 ⇒ (18) + 19 - 3 = 34
Damage: 4d6 + 19 + 9 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 2) + 19 + 9 = 43

Grab: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (9) + 30 = 39
Constrict: 4d6 + 19 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 1) + 19 = 33

Seeing that he and his allies have taken a significant beating, he moves to the center of them and channels life energy.

Channel: 7d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 6, 1, 6, 3) = 32

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Phew. That Aura of Chaos has come in way more useful than I thought it would.

Lector grimaces as he is released, then turns his divine fury on the retreating construct that dared to grapple him.

Begin casting summon monster 7.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Concentration: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35

DC is 14 + his CMB, so probably still a failure. Trying to cast freedom of movement.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

This thing adds 29 to CMB? G~# d~!n, Lector is taken out of the fight. Only one thing to do...

Lector roars and fills the area with an aura of chaos. "Drop me and fight me you coward!" He yells.

Aura of Chaos:
These energies manifest as a 30-foot aura of chaos for a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level. All enemies within this aura must declare one type of action at the start of their turn (attack, cast a spell, move, use an item, or activate a special ability) and make a Will save (DC 21). Creatures that fail the Will save must take an action other than their declared action. If they succeed, they must take the declared action. Creatures cannot select actions that they cannot perform.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Ughh, grappled. I can make a concentration check to cast a spell, right?

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Cursing the terrain, Lector double moves closer.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Judging by the map, I need to double move in, correct?

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Knowing the big fight is coming, Lector begins calling for aid.

Summon monster 7. Effects will take place the beginning of next round.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Fidwidget, waiting on you.

I'm guessing we should go find these things and take 'em down? Or do we wait until they happen upon us? I'm a bit unsure on how to proceed to be honest.

Ditto. I could use a little guidance.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Not entirely sure how to proceed. I thought we were just eavesdropping and waiting for them.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

"If they've left I see no reason to pursue. We need to make sure these ground are cleared."

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Thanks for letting us know, have fun!

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

I'll still be around. Just less frequently and my posts probably won't have their normal quality.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

I just had surgery. Nothing life threatening, but I'm going to be in a lot of pain and on a lot of drugs the next week. Please DMPC as necessary.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Wow. Good-freaking-bye.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Ref: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 Half damage

Lector casts grace on himself, then charges into the creature with a war cry!

Attack: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 20 = 36
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 21 + (2) = 33

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

I would like to be able to talk first. I think Casey may have been a little trigger happy.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Knowledge (arcana, religion, planes): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

"Teleportation, most likely. Let's get moving."

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

"With enough time to pray for another spell I could. Or I could fly over it with my magical items."

I think Casey might be the only one amongst us not capable of flight haha. I leave a spell open at every spell level, so with 15 minutes I could prepare any non-lawful cleric spell up to level 7, which could definitely get us past a wall.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Considering the solid wall blocking us from our enemies, Lector will hold his action for now.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector holds, waiting for their approach.

Held action until they approach or if they move to get line of sight of him.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector shoulders his greatsword with a smile and follows Tychi to the northeast.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

I already have one that's +2. If you can make use of it, sweet.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector leaves the area and channels once to heal everybody.

Channel: 7d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 5, 4, 3, 5) = 28

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Thank god for that nat 1. A firearm crit probably would have killed me. Also, FYI I'm out of Bestow Resolve for the day.

Hold Breath: 1d100 ⇒ 71 Check needed
Fort: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19

Lector still inhales the fumes as he's riddled with bullets, but he stays standing. He steps back and touches a glowing hand to his chest, then barks out a word in a forgotten language and lets chaos consume his enemies.

CCW: 4d8 + 14 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 5) + 14 = 33

Sacrificing freedom of movement to cast cure critical wounds. Also activating aura of chaos.

Aura of Chaos (DC 21):
These energies manifest as a 30-foot aura of chaos for a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level. All enemies within this aura must declare one type of action at the start of their turn (attack, cast a spell, move, use an item, or activate a special ability) and make a Will save. Creatures that fail the Will save must take an action other than their declared action. If they succeed, they must take the declared action. Creatures cannot select actions that they cannot perform.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

We were aware of the malicious gas before entering the area, correct? If it came out of nowhere and we were surprised that's one thing, but if we were aware of the threat and decided to walk into it, it's reasonable to say we can hold our breath. I didn't mention it so I'll bite the bullet this round, but for future rounds I'll do that if possible.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector seethes as the blade cuts deep into his chest with a resounding crack. However at the last second he lowers his head and lets the blade catch his hat, softening the blow considerably. Here's a fight. "Come on!" He roars, and returns the favor with a blow that looks designed to break and maim her arms as he bolsters himself.

Attack: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 21 + (4) = 30

Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 21 + (2) = 28

Breaking out my fancy items here. I'm going to use my Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier to negate that critical hit. Also on my first attack, if it hits I'm activating my Bonebreaker Gauntlets. DC 14 will save or have her strength score reduced by 6. Finally, I'm using Bestow Resolve to give myself, Tychi, and Nyke 18 temporary hit points.

Come at me Yvessa.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

"Raaaahhh!!!" Lector charges to and past enemy lines with his shoulders down, ending up behind them.

Double move, I'll take any AoO's that provokes.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector touches his armor and magically speeds into the room, stopping just in front of Casey and placing a glowing hand on Tychi.

CSW: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (7, 3, 1) + 14 = 25

Using one round of my speed armor to increase move speed, sacrificing one of my prepared dispel magic spells to cast cure serious wounds on Tychi.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

"I agree Tychi. If nobody is in need of healing, let us move on."

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

"This must be where the the workers sleep. And eat apparently. What poor conditions." He picks up the musket and offers it to Casey. "Mean anything to you?"

Does detect magic pick up anything off of the musket or the rest of the room?

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

"West sounds good."

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

*Sweats nervously as he casts an evil spell in front of Nike*

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

"Mhmm." Lector says as he heals Tychi once more. He grunts in approval as the wounds close. "A defeat is not a defeat if you learn something from it." He pulls Tychi up with a strong arm and looks after the pale stranger. "I can't imagine we're going to catch that one. Perhaps you can on Nike?"

Cure Serious Wounds: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (6, 7, 1) + 14 = 28

Sacrificing Prayer to cast Cure Serious Wounds.

Edit: If Tychi decides not to chase, Lector will poke him twice with his wand of infernal healing to heal him another 20 hp over the course of 20 rounds.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector places a glowing hand on Tychi.

Heals: 4d8 + 14 ⇒ (8, 4, 8, 5) + 14 = 39

Losing terrible remorse to spontaneous cast cure critical wounds.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Damn. Lector activated his haste armor and sprints across the room to get to Tychi.

Double move.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector gives a slight smile as the blade glances off of his armor. He brings his greatsword down mercilessly twice.

Attack: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 20 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 21 + (2) = 32

Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 21 + (3) = 30

Wow. Don't worry, die roller hates me too.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Lector marches on slowly, as if there's not lethal weapons pointed at his chest. Or as if he doesn't care. He gives a cold smile and walks forward, then viciously brings up his greatsword.

Attack: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 20 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 21 + (1) = 32

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

Oh crap, you have SR? Lector would need to roll to penetrate that to have his fickle winds affect Tychi and Nike.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

I think the wall in question was a different wall than the one that was summoned, in fact I believe this wall is one that reaches up to the ceiling of the building we're in. But if it's as you say, then yes I would be able to get Tychi/Nike in the spell's effects.
