FYI - I am traveling for the next week and will be back home on August 30. I'll have limited posting until then, but I should be on some. And after I get back I am headed to Dragon Con on September 3 and will likely not post between the 3rd and 7th.

Buy of course. I have to see if I can steal from a high priest during a deamon/devil fight. :) To be fair, he is not using the items any more so "liberate" might be a better term.

Kyrax makes his move. Standing in the shadows he first vanishes (swift action) and then moves to where the the Paravicar's body lays. He uses a Ki point to increase his move if he needs to to reach it this round. Using the body partly as cover he quickly removes the necklace as he watches the scene play out in front of him. This one is no longer in need of this item and perhaps is has some ability to help in this fight. he thinks, justifying his action to himself.

Kyrax looks on from the edge of a balcony and wonders briefly what items the dead cleric might have on his body. How many in this room would see through my invisibility if I were to be so bold as to try to help myself? he wonders as he casts Detect Magic to check the man's body.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Kyrax recognizes the spell being cast and says in a low voice Oh my, a scrying. That is not a good idea. When the first creature appears Kyrax tries to take the hand of his desired dance partner and his previous danced partner and lead them towards a convenient doorway or balcony. If they will not come, he retreats without them but encourage them to flee. I fear the party is over. If you wish to live I recommend you depart quickly. When the second creature reveals himself Kyrax will step from the room and Vanish. He will then look for a good vantage point to safely watch the show.

After the dance Kyrax returns his partner to her starting place and thanks her for the dance. He ponders her desire to lead, especially since he knows how well he can dance and wonders if she might be not be what she seems. But the thought is lost as he once again approaches the dark beauty. Pardon for the delay my lady. I would still very much enjoy a dance with you, if you would join me? He extends a hand.

Kyrax takes the young ladies hand and leads her out onto the dance floor. But he cannot help but wonder why the ebony beauty he originally approached was denied him. A natural dancer, Kyrax enjoys the dance and tries not to show off to much but cannot help himself. Still he tries to use his skill to show off his partner and to make the dance memorable for her. At least once he glades back to look at the woman he had originally asked to dance to see if she was watching him. Perform Dance: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Knowing the man now for who he is Kyrax looses interest quickly and begins to look for a way out of the conversation. Yes you to, both men of the cloth as some say, I am sure you have much to discuss. I fear I am out of my element here, and listen, someone had begun a dance tune. It would be unkind of me to leave the ladies there unattended. Its was a great please to meet you sir. Kyrax says to the priest. And with your leave I shall take my leave. Kyrax bows formally and unless detained, departs. He quickly makes his way to Robert and the young ladies. Ladies, I am the courtier Kyrax Preyfar. Again he bows and turning to the Mwangi beauty he asks Perhaps I could have the honor of both your name and this dance?

Kyrax is not surprised at their escort back to the capital. He had been in Cheliax for quite a few months and was well versed in efficiency of hell knights. He rode in the close confines of the hot wagons passively and tried to lighten the mood of those he traveled with with his wit and light heart. Once at the capital he allowed himself to enjoy the dotting attention and looked quite pleased with his outfit. As he dresses he fusses over each piece of clothing he is being fitted with and chastises the servants if they get something incorrect. He uses this as a diversion to palm his own dagger, hiding it within his sleeve. Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Later he wonders on their treatment, recognizing that something is not quite right. Still he joins in the cheers for the queen and follows protocol nearly as well as a local. knowledge Local 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 knowledge Local 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 When released to enjoy the festivities Kyrax heads initially for refreshments, but diverts towards the venerable-looking older man. Good sir, the manner of your dress caught my eye and I thought to stop and beg a word with you. I mean no offense, but you seem quite out of place here and I wonder what business you might have that would bring you here so attired?

For the Dreamers: Kyrax watched the strange bird in fascination for the duration of its stay. As it pops away the bard shakes his head as if in waking. Well, that was curious. We are in a strange place for certain. Let us explore it. I recommend we stick together. When Arma recommends going back the way we came Kyrax visibly pouts. But we have already been that way. We have two perfectly good doors we have not been through. he cajoles. And as Arma announces the advancement of the darkness Kyrax moves, choosing the right-hand door. He moves to it and after scanning it quickly opens it. Unless he sees something unsavory he says to the group of sleepers This way. Kyrax, late to rise into the dream world stands almost stumbling and mumbles Falling. I keep falling. He shakes his head in attempt to focus and his eyes come to rest on a shadowy form. There! he calls out a warning as he draws steel. He points to the shadowy form of a goblin that is seeming stalking Mirandix' shade. Sorry for being behind. Just busy. Later he responds to the "bird". My dear feathered friend. We have the most legitimate business to be in this tower, I assure you. We are here to rescue a princess in distress. What higher calling could there be? But if you mean do we have business in this strange dream world I would have to answer that I am not quite sure. Perhaps you could help us sort that out?

Still invisible for a round, Kyrax moves to the staff and casts Detect Magic on it. Someone please try to stabilize Doritian if he is not already dead. he says as he moves.

Kyrax hoists his banner higher as he says. I hope you can forgive me Doritian. I have gone and killed your wizard of ice and snow. And now if falls to me to cross blades with you it seems. Seeing that the man intends him harm, and unsure if Arma will flank with him, Kyrax calls the the "woman" trying to bring her back to the fight. If you do not help me Amra I fear he will strike me down. We were friends. Will you allow that? Kyrax advances to meet Doritian, his black blade in hand. Scimitar: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 241d6 + 6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 + (5) = 17 If Arma is not willing to flank with Kyrax then the to hit is 2 lower and the damage is 5 less. If Doritian is still standing then Kyrax will use another Ki point after the attack to vanish, winking at his old friend before doing so.

I never mind ideas or recommendations. But your suggestion just seemed premature since I have not had a chance grapple yet even if I had planned to do so. But the more I think about it I think its a bad idea. Grapple analysis: Kyrax has a +1 CMB. Lets say an average 7th-8th level wizard would have a CMD of (BAB of +3 and combination of Dex and Strength modifier of +3) 16. So, Kyrax only has a 25% of succeeding IF the wizard misses his AOO. If he hits then Kyrax has to subtract the damage from his CMB and has less of a chance. This would on average mean he would need a nat 20 to grapple, and even that might fail. Kyrax's AC is 18. If the wizard is +4 to hit with his staff then he has a 10% better chance to hit Kyrax with his AOO than Kyrax has to grapple. This lowers Kyrax's total chance of success to about 17%. Add to this the chance that the wizard could do 8 or more damage with his AOO and take Kyrax to below zero, and I might want to look at other options. Does that make sense?

Re, Robert, first I have already considered grapple. But inhale only had a single standard action so far and had to use a LJ point to get there to do that. And I did 19 points o damage and disrupted his spell in doing so. So I think my one round was pretty stellar. You telling me to grapple is air like you playing my character, which I am not fond of. When I get a second turn I'll certainly consider grapple. Been grappling wizards for years. But his character has strength 10 and could easily fail. Plus he will provoke and the AOO could drop him. it will also count against his grapple check. In all its not a very good chance of success. But I will consider it when I act. My thought is that everyone should be attacking the wizard.

Yep. Damage is damage, and even a point "could" have caused a failure, but not this time. So Kyrax takes missiles to the face. He cannot take another of those, but he is not backing down either. :) The little bard has done 27 points of damage to the big bad wizard so far. He plans to slice the guy up.

Stealth: 1d20 + 8 + 20 - 5 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 20 - 5 = 27 As he reaches the target he slashes with his black scimitar hoping to disrupt the casting. Kyrax shakes his head, obviously disappointed in his old fried. You were corrupted when you chose to kill that innocent girl to save yourself perceived embarrassment. I am ashamed of you Doritian. Two is twice as much goblin. He stops short of saying that is a good thing. You are obviously fearless. That is an excellent trait for becoming a hero.
