I am sorry. This has been a great game full of color. Getting hit with the layoff kind of threw me for a bit (even though it wasn't a huge surprise). I'm finally getting back to a normal routine, so I will keep an eye out for you all in the recruitment threads. Take care all!

I appreciate your concern and comments. I am a project manager, and I am based in Western Washington, so I think I'll be okay. I suspect hiring is going to be a bit slim until after the holidays, but I have a decent buffer to tide me over.

Kwin raises his holy symbol again, summoning the swarm of divine spirits to again blanket his allies in protection and to bathe their foes in radiance.

Using my last third level spell slot to cast spirit guardians. Designating our group as immune. An affected creature’s speed is halved in the area, and when the creature enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 3d8 radiant damage. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage. Damage for this round is 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4) = 10.

While Argyri checks the door, Kwin tends to Drusilla.

Casting cure wounds on Drusilla, second level slot 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 = 7. Following it up with a first level slot 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9, and another first level slot. 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7.
Dru, that gets you up to 30 hp.

I'm thinking we leave them in the cleared and scrubbed room. It seems the easiest to take out anything they could use to cut themselves free. Pull in some blankets or pallets from the other rooms for them to stay on and call it good.

Kwin collects Bayleaf's gear that he dropped. He'll check him for blades.

"Argyri, can you tie them up, but make sure they can still run if they need to?"

"Let's head back up to the Abbey. As soon as we find a room where we can safely stash them, we will. Then we will continue exploring."

He turns to the elven trainer. "Bayleaf, I am not sure what it would be, but if there were a reassurance you could give us that we could trust you to be a guard instead of a prisoner, we would prefer to leave you able to defend yourself and our prisoner, Odium. But we cannot take the risk of you fleeing with our boat."

We will head up to the Abbey and go back in.

I don't think we should tie them here, if my here you mean the shore. But we can take them with us and find a secure room to block them in. I'm wondering if we might be able to hire Bayleaf to keep watch over Odium while we adventure.

For me, it is not the game, it is work. It is kicking my butt right now. I've got some systems deploying in three weeks, so it is going to be a bit touch and go until then. But I enjoy the game and I like the way you run it.

He also maintains concentration on bless for turn 3.

When the crossbow bolt narrowly misses him, Kwin readies his shield. He also draws his rapier as he focuses on his spell... and not getting impaled.

Kwin slashes the air with some holy water, which quickly evaporates into the spell he weaves. "Great Walker of the Horizon, bless these champions as they purge this crossroads!"

Casting bless using a second level spell slot.

Tarn, Argyri, Badger (and myself), whenever you make an attack roll or a saving throw before the spell ends, you can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the attack roll or saving throw.

Well, Drusilla should not be last. I'm not sure if Tarn, Badger or Argyri are best up front. If one of them is suited for a rear guard, great. If we need the various skills of all three towards the front, Kwin will take the last place.

Several times during the downtime, Kwin leaves town. When he comes to crossroads, he stops to pray. For hours, he listens for signs that his lord, Fharlanghn, has service required of him elsewhere. But every road, path and trail leads him back to Saltmarsh. Clearly, his work there in the name of the Dweller on the Far Horizon is not yet complete. To pass the time, he tends to fishermen and merchants coming and going.
