Congrats to all chosen. Have fun!

Exactly right. No harm. No foul.

One suggestion. Once you make the selection have everyone 'dot' in to confirm they are still interested.

That's a valid point too. I've had games start where one or more of the selected players had lost interest and never started the game. Then you're going back to the recruitment thread to look for a replacement just to start the game.

If you want to get "a little better" at sneak attacking, then I believe a 2 level dip into Witch {Ashtifah} is not suitable.

"Ghostwalk (Su): Starting at 2nd level, as a move action after using a hex, an ashiftah can become invisible as per vanishAPG and can then take a 5-foot step. Using ghostwalk doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity."

Combined with, likely, the evil eye hex and hex strike this will not at all make you "a little better" at sneak attack. It is one of the best things ever at setting up sneak attacks and allowing you to escape unscathed. You need to change course now to avoid becoming "vastly better" at sneak attack. :P

Secondly, how do you feel about coming up with backgrounds that cross over? I haven't written mine up yet. We both have "missing child" as a campaign trait, which means we both want to locate Gaedren Lamm, you to find your niece and me to find my younger brother or that was the idea.

Also Fhar was learning magic from an Ashtifah witch which is exactly what my character is, and you will want to learn magic in the same way and so could learn that from me. It could have been Boudacia teaching Fahr magic and Boudacia and Kubi have been trying to find Fhar since.

Gaedren Lamm beat Boudacia into unconsciousness when she was a child and when she catches up to him she is likely to do a number of very painful things to Gaedren Lamm that will be nearly as bad for her CG alignment as they are for him.

You certainly don't have to but it makes rather more sense than the time honoured party of adventurers meeting in a tavern.

Absolutely! I'll work on updating my back story as long as you are willing to train a ratfolk....

Hmm.... I don't really fit an arcane caster slot. Really more front-line support? Kind of a melee focused rogue. I'll be working to sneak attack as much as possible. Taking witch for story as well as to get a little better options for sneak attacking.

I think I've got Kubi's build complete. Let me know if you see any mistakes or if I need to change the formatting.

Was starting to figure out equipment, but don't see what we are using for starting gold. ??

Dotting for interest. Still have a lot of work to do....
Kubi Niss
Snakebite Striker Ratfolk Brawler.
As a worshiper of Korada I prefer to avoid combat. But when it cannot be avoided I want it over quickly.
My sister was an Ashiftah witch and I have her veil. It calls me to avenge her capture and I intend to follow her path to gain some of her magics. However, she had no combat training. I do and it will remain my primary focus.

Kubi chuckles and rolls her eyes at the half elf. "Rat folk prefer to keep our hides without the markings that you speak of. Such marks indicate a lack of skill at staying out of trouble...."

Surprised but happy to see the nasty undead things drop Kubi glances around the area for any more that can reach them. "Right. Which way do we go next?"

initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Kubi stays behind Qilldar and casts Guidance on him. +1 competence bonus to one attack, save or skill check

Kubi points to the skeletons and calls out, "They're coming this way, and none of my magic is any use against stupid, mindless undead. Maybe this'll help...." She reaches forward to touch Krusk, "A little."

Casting Guidance on Krusk

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Kubi scans the area, not interested in a bath or really interested in the beauty of the falls. "Careful approaching the water. There could be something hidden in the shallows."

Although ratfolk don't generally mind being underground, Kubi prefers knowing where she is or at least where she is going. "Well if the waterfall indicates that we are still on the right track, let's go and see it!"

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 Hmm....

"Unless this path is supposed to run across rushing water we should continue straight, right? Onward!"

"On second thought maybe we should just keep moving and stay ahead of them."

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Thinking on the other's comments about the mark Kubi adds "If that group behind us makes it in here, maybe we could redirect them the wrong way? Does anyone have something to draw a sword symbol pointing the wrong way?

Wow! I'm on the road for two days and there are 22 posts! Wish any of my other games were active like this!

Kubi notices the small pouch and pauses to check the contents. A small vial? She removes the stopper carefully just long enough to glance at the liquid and sniff it, then replaces it and puts it back in the pouch. "Strange, but if we need to cover our scent that might work."

5 of 6 low. And the one 'high' wouldn't count as a passing grade for any sort of exam! (Krusk did add 'Testing' after his 60)

10 + 60 + 17 + 40 + 18 + 14 = 159 / 6 = 26.5
Not in the bottom quartile, but close. Hope low is better! :)

Okay.... d100: 1d100 ⇒ 40

Once one of the big folk descends Kubi inserts herself. "If we run into any trouble I need to be close to use my hexes on them." She cringes when the sunrod is struck but understands that some of the big folk have weak eyes and need the light.

Kubi waits for one of the big folk to lead, preferably heavily armed and armored, and immediately follows.

Kubi moves up close to the heavy, rusty door and waits for someone big and strong. She lightly touches whoever and nods, "Good luck."

Casting Guidance on anyone that tries to lift the trapdoor. +1 on the skill roll.

I hate auto-correct! I didn't intend to type Chanel.... just Chan.

Kubi stares at the lady, obviously surprised or confused if anyone could actually read the expression on her ratlike face. "We will follow your direction of course, but I thought you were to have us meet with your master, Chanel? But if he's been abducted won't we need to rescue him first?"

[ooc]Following along out the back if she's directing and someone is leading.[ooc]

The little ratfolk girl straps her equipment on and grabs a small spear. "Well, goons anywhere are usually the same. Hit them fast and hard is the best tactic...."

Moving up to a position behind the biggest armored, fighter type.

As several big folk wake and respond to the lady and her guards Kubi scans the area and assesses herself. No 'damage' but she feels slightly sick from the consumption of the previous night. She also scans her person and the area around for her equipment.... and her familiar. She has her prepared magic from the previous day, but can't change anything if needed without her precious 'Bug'.

My empathic link with my familiar has a one mile range. Do I have Bug or at least 'feel' him nearby? I assume from the post in discussion that we have clothing/armor, but not packs, weapons, etc. Bug would've been in my familiar satchel.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

A rogue and someone to stand beside Spiller protecting us soft mage types would be nice.... :)

Not really wanting to play the slave trying to escape again, but are we being shanghai'd? The traits do read like it.... I really hate being a caster without material components, familiar, etc.!

No problem. I'll get the CS updated with that. Details make the character more real.... :)

I think I'll change the trait to Caravan's Surgeon though. I already have a +1 trait bonus to Perception, and like bonus's don't stack. Besides, Caravan's Surgeon adds to my history. (gives me a more realistic option for hiring on. I hardly fit anybody's description of a guard!)

So do we all have to pick one of the campaign traits? If so I'll probably take a drawback so I don't have to drop either of what I picked.

Drawback: Meticulous

and Campaign Trait: Eye for Treasure fits my race and background....

I like the caravan idea. I added a history for my character and ended it with skipping town with a caravan....

Lemming here with my Ratfolk witch alias. No history yet but the CS is mostly done. Let me know if you see any issue.
