I have been considering adding the miniatures to my subscriptions, but before doing so, I want to ensure it will be affordable to me. If I start this, how many sets get released per year? Or month, if there are that many releases. I have Googled this before and it looks to be about 2, no more than 3 per year. Again, just trying to make sure I understand what I'm signing up for before doing so. Thanks for any information and apologies if I failed my Google search check.

Agreed. I'm not buying unless we get a subscription and pdf. The entire reason I have been a loyal customer all these years is due to us getting a PDF. Eventually, books break, we've already bought it once. I'm sure you all at Paizo have reasons for what you are doing, but it's really starting to make me question it's time to cancel the subs. Please keep being the customer friendly company that made you all special.
Are we this far behind on pawns due to COVID? All the years of buying goods from Paizo, never seen it released this far after the last book in the series. I just worry I’m going to get slammed with a huge bill and I can barely afford my subscriptions as it is. Thanks for any information. Stay safe and best of luck!

Can't wait for my books to get here! Took part in their Kickstarter and recent events has really put that behind schedule. Looks like they are coming very soon though, depending on the game system you picked out.
I would suggest talking with your GM and seeing what they say. With the technology they have available, there is no reason they couldn't hollow out a section of the arrow head, fill it with something, and then put a "soft" metal tip on it to release the contents inside. Now, the issue with the explosive tips is if you miss and blow up a party member(s). While it may be comical, if someones character should die because of it, they are going to be ticked. hehe. Same goes if you poison them. If you are the GM, I would make them, and role-play it out alone to see the effects of missed shots and etc. If it's game breaking, your players are not the wiser of it, if it works out, they get new toys! Sorry for flip-flopping here, just trying to see both sides of how this could pan out. Best of luck to you though!
I am the complete opposite of you. I love Starfinder and can't stand Pathfinder 2E. As for the rest of your post, it reads as if your issue with the game at all is math. Not sure how that can solved as math has been tied to this game in some form since D&D's boxes. Is there more now? Yes, but even other games are tied behind some type of math, even if it is how many symbols of a certain type you get (Vampire 5E). Maybe stop paying attention to all the math aspects and just have fun?! After all, that's why we play it. :)
Well played, Paizo. hehehehe. I bought the bundle and seen Pathfinder Tales and thought you all had returned the novels! Was so excited, came here to add that subscription again, only to be crushed, again. :P Joking. I do miss them, but been there, discussed this here and not worth it. Just thought some of you may find it humorous, if not doing the same thing. Thanks for the bundle!
I don't do digital books. I love to smell the paper of freshly arrived books! Seriously, ask my wife! She gets a good laugh every time I open a Paizo box and smell the books before looking at them. hehe. So, yeah, digital books isn't for me and I'm quite aware that it's dying breed, sadly. Don't get me wrong, save the trees, space at home and in landfills, and etc. But for those of us caught in-between the shifting trends don't understand the digital folks and the vice versa. Will always pick a book over an iPad or Kindle. I don't even own a Kindle. The only reason I own an iPad is because it controls my spinal cord stimulator, which doesn't work right now. hehe. Battery died before everything went crazy....ugh, how I miss elective surgeries atm! Anyways, I'll end my rant. Thanks for all the feedback all. Sorry that it looks so bleak for the novels. Take care!
Eventually, can you, Paizo, please offer us a box when things go back to normal? I don't care if we have to pay for it, but like some others, I would really like a box, eventually. As I have found out with other boxed sets such as these, over time and usage, these paper dolls don't fit into their placeholders well after a while and will eventually lose some of them. We understand what's happened, or we should, and don't blame you all for what has happened, we would just like to know if you will be willing to fix this at a later date. Please? Yes, I am willing to pay the $10 for the box! hehe. I'll let others speak for themselves, but I would be grateful, for sure! Thanks for reading and hope you all are safe and well. Especially thankful for my hobby to keep me sane during this time! Yes, there is still some sanity left, not much, though! /wink!
Hey all! Going to beat this horse again. It has been YEARS since Paizo had a contract for novels. Where are you all at on this? Really enjoyed the books and miss them. I don’t even want one bimonthly, just 1 or 2 a year would suffice. Just something! Hopefully you all can get this started soon. I’m so tired of reading Conan books all these years and now starting The Sword of Truth series. If you all could do 1 book for each system a year, that would please a good portion of us, I believe. You all have a good following, good products, and more importantly, a good interest from us. Please get this done. Thank you!

Why would anyone spend money on an RPG if the developers are the sort to decide on a new edition after only two years? This is why I sold my Shadowrun 5thE. Learned that they were rebooting editions every year or two. Refuse to buy a product line that continually does this.

I remember those times. One evocation wizard I played back then had so many weapon focus feats. Lol. Felt a little silly wasting so many WF feats on that. I, personally, agree with your assessments in this thread. Oddly enough, googled this very question due to a wizard my wife is playing. Wanted to be fair, yet keeping it balanced. We ended up house-ruling it as WF:Ranged Spells.
OP, they are employees, they all have their jobs to do. As others have stated, the information was time-sensitive, or at least some of it. Just guessing here, but they all have their roles to fulfill at their job. They can’t tailor their online imprint to everyone’s needs or wants. Just try to look at things from both sides. To me, it sounds as if you enjoy to watch or listen to their products at your own leisure. There is nothing wrong with that. However, others devour Paizo’s content so quickly, that the company can’t put them out fast enough. Just take your time, enjoy them at your leisure. Remember, while this may be the age of instant gratification, there are much more people than just us out there. Happy Gaming!
Thanks all! This is why I wanted to post this here. Really like the ides you all have suggested. Wrote your suggestions down and will use them to flesh this out. @Scott, I had not even thought of it stacking with others. Would probably not allow it to stack. But, then that creates a whole mess within itself. As many of you pointed out, will certainly be rewriting the abilities. Again, thank you all!
Hey all! Was making a character for a side project I am doing and while rolling up his history, came up with some interesting things that lead me to want to make my own martial arts style. This is really just me playing solo, with the exception, my wife may join in for some of it, here or there. But, as this is something new to me, wanted all of your advise. Risky proposition, yeah? hehe, I jest. Anyways here it is. Name of Style: Iron Feathers Prerequisites: Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Unarmed Strike, Martial Weapon (Shortsword) proficiency. Iron Feathers Style: The basics of this style teaches you to use your shortswords for defense just as much than offense. User may add their Intelligence Modifier to their AC. Notes: Thought about adding or Wisdom modifier, but decided against it. Thoughts? Prerequisites: Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Unarmed Strike, Martial Weapon (shortsword) proficiency, Iron Feathers Style,Weapon Focus (Shortsword), and Weapon Specialization (Shortsword) Bloody Iron Feathers: With each successful attack, with the shortswords, an opponent must make a Reflex save DC:20, or gain the bleed effect. This effect can stack. No penalties to stop the bleeding. Prerequisites: Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Unarmed Strike, Martial Weapon (Shortsword), Iron Feathers Style, Weapon Focus (Shortsword), Weapon Specialization (Shortsword), Bloody Iron Feathers, Greater Weapon Focus (Shortsword), and Improved Critical (Shortsword) Bloodied Claws of the Iron Feathers: After studying a foe for 5 rounds roll a Will save DC= Opponents AC. If successful, you double your critical range, but only with your shortswords. Hope to hear your critiques. I realize the format looks a lot like 3.0 or 3.5. Been playing D&D since I was 12 (41 now), so I carry a little of each addition with me. Hard habits are hard to break. hehe. Thanks for any feedback or just reading it! :)
This is just my opinion, as you said, they are welcomed. If I were you, just ask the GM/DM, whatever they want to be called in your group, their opinion on this. If they allow it, congratz! If not, sorry. Personally, I find it an interesting idea. However, looking at the numbers, not sure if I could allow it if I were running a game. You are correct, the language is similar in some way, yet, towards the end, they are completely different. Also, one thing that could tip the balance, what is the other half of your character? Also, which giant is the other half? If it's human or human sized, I'm thinking this won't work. I'll explain using this link to show comparison. https://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/humanoids/giants/ Storm Giant: 19-24 Feet tall, that's the biggest.
So, if you character is in the range of 7-10 feet tall, I would question if they were big enough, or strong enough, to pick up a cannon. Now if they were half Storm Giant, guessing they would be between 8-12 feet tall, but again, depends on the other half, I would think. This really seems like a question for your GM, really. Not sure if the rules get into that much detail. Personally, I enjoy a bit of realism mixed with my fantasy games. Please post what you end up doing. Curious to find out what your GM thinks of this. Best of luck!
I am one of the people that will be stopping their Pathfinder subs. Promised my wife, back then roommate, that when Pathfinder switched editions, I would stop my subscription. 1.) This was my reward due to quitting smoking. As long as I didn't smoke, I bought material from Paizo. 2.) While being sad that PF1 is coming to an end, so to speak, it has became time for it. The material has become too much. As one person posted, it is harder to remember all the fluff (feats and etc.). However, will probably switch it to Starfinder. May not do it for 12 years, like I did with PF1, but only time will tell.To all of you that is ready and excited, hope it is everything you want it to be. To Paizo, thanks for all the great products you have put out and will continue to do so! Please don't think I am hating on Paizo, that is the last thing I want others to think. Other than 4 of their first AP's, have purchased every single book through subscriptions for the past 11 years, will be 12 by the time it stops. Set for life on gaming material. I just can't justify spending all that money on another version. Will still follow Paizo, though, and who knows--They may lure me in again. <3 OP, thanks for the Subject. Paizo, thank you for the goods, the fun, and best luck to you in the future! :)

Hey all! While I liked the martial arts handbook, personally, I would like more than just companion book. I know some of you really knowledgeable on different products. Looking for something akin to original Oriental Handbook, but compatible with pathfinder rules (First Edition, please). Tried doing a google search, the best thing I came across was a site similar to Kickstarter. Thanks for any help on this! Happy gaming all! Thanks!
Eldred the Grey, that would be a cool one! It is actually one of the few that I do not have. JoelF847, that too would be an awesome one! Started to play it once, but then went on vacation and get wrapped up in some other things. Next time I sat to play it, couldn't remember what all was going on and stopped around 3 of 6. As for the PF2, I would probably still purchase the game if they did that. As for their products, I'm out once the version is released. Just didn't care for the playtest material. Happy gaming though to those of you who do love it.
Fellow Game's and Paizo employee's, LOVING Kingmaker! It is so much like the adventure path, yet different enough to have nice surprises in it, too! My only regret was not being able to back this game when it was on Kickstarter!!! Hope to remedy that if you all should do this again! Speaking of that, what would some of you like to see if they (Paizo and Owlgames) were to make another AP into a game? I personally, think Jade Regent would be awesome. Just not sure how the caravan aspect would work. Then again, I know nothing about making video games. heh. Anyways, just curious what others were thinking. Also, wanted Paizo to know how appreciative I was for this product! Thanks again for another great way to play your materials!
Hey all! As the title, I'm wondering what the difference is between the digital copy and the premium digital copy for the upcoming CRPG-Pathfinder: Kingmaker game? I tried to do a few google searches. Either I am not phrasing it correctly or just too much information to cipher through. Going to pre-order this game, since I was unable to help with the Kickstarter campaign. Any help on explaining this will help me decide which pre-order I want to choose. Thanks for any help, too! Apologies if this is in the wrong area. Wasn't completely sure where to post this. Thank You and Game ON! Kris
Not sure if anyone can answer this, but would be helpful if they can. I'm in becoming in dire need of a new Player's Handbook. It has been good to me over the years, but she's breaking up. Will this book be able to replace my PH or should I just go ahead and buy another? Thanks for any responses. :)
Any chance of getting this added to one of subscriptions? At least initially? I've been wanting this deck for about a year or 2 now. Never could find the old ones and worried I'll forget about this one. Heck, I'd even be willing to pay a bit extra for throwing it in subscription for companion or campaign setting. Or the very least, a chance to opt in or out. Either way, can't wait for a chance to pay this! hehe. Keep up the good work, Paizo!
Hey all, I'm currently running Skull and Shackle and ran across something that kind of annoyed me. Naturally, wondering if this bugged anyone or if it was just and accident and missed. Part 2 of 6: Raiders of the Fever Sea, page 39. "...the water in the hole is anoxic due to its poor circulation, so no creatures reside in these wrecks and even normal water-breathing magic does not function. These wrecks were thoroughly looted before being scuttled, so nothing of value remains among them." Magic isn't normal and if nothing can breath there, how is it looted? Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy Paizo's products but this type of writing frustrates me. It is one thing to say, "Oh, it's magic and this is why it is like this." Again, frustrating, but by this time, most people are used to it. Even if they do roll their eyes. But to say magic doesn't even work, yet looted? Was this over-looked in editing and an accident? Am I being dense (not the first time, won't be the last)? Thanks for any response! Confuzzled Gamer
While not familiar with Gestalt rules or guidelines, I do know from playing, be careful playing to CR's. They can be misleading and end adventures prematurely. Use your judgment and make encounters challenging to your friends play style. For instance, if they are hack and slash type players, may not want to throw anything at them that uses much tactics. If they like to play well thought out strategies and think-tank games, use encounters like that. I personally, would not just use CR's as a base though. From what I have read on boards here though, 2 Gestalt PC's should be able to take on the same things of a regular group of 4 though, right? Dunno, sorry if this doesn't seem helpful. Just my .02 for the day. :) Good luck though!

Okay, this has me scratching my head too. I was thinking he had not even looked at the character sheets. But to have them there and still ignore what you all rolled for characters? Think I would be asking him to either pick up the slack or turn the reigns over to someone else in the group. I won't post anymore, too many meds and about to hit the hay, so all kinds of crazy could be typed. Group make up though sounds rather cool. Sorry for confusing you. Guess I missed that info in the OP.
Agreeing with Tormsskull. With one exception. Everyone in the group needs to let the GM have copies of their character sheets. Secondly, the GM needs to set parameters around what is OK to play and what is not OK. Yes, it was wrong of him to get aggravated with you. However, flip the coin on this and pretend you are him. You have no idea what anyone in the group is, has or can, do. So you try to make encounters to be balanced, but they are not. Due to the fact of not understand the group dynamic. Again, this is attributed to poor GMing, but going to assume here that he is new(ish) to it. Every time I have played in groups and GM'd or even played, I wanted to see or at least hear what others were doing. Reason 1) To ensure there was not over staggering of roles. Nothing wrong with having an extra fighter, but when the entire group is one class, that gets stale quickly. Reason 2) When the group comes together and makes a group of characters that balance each other out, meaning a well rounded group, encounters are very much more enjoyable to RP and to deal with. What you are explaining sounds like the GM, and assuming the group, no one really knows what the other people are bringing to the table. That would make me want to leave the group so fast, it's not even funny. Reason 3) I don't want too much competition for treasure. Even playing online games or tabletop, I don't mind sharing with one person in a small group, but 2+ with a group of 5-10? NO thanks! This may make me look greedy, but at least being honest on the issue. :) In short, I believe you had a good reason to be upset. However, take a step back and realize it is an issue of the group as a whole. Please, don't take this next part to heart or think it's an attack, but at this point, you are just as much as the problem as he is. But, it is something that with dialogue and helping each other out on, it can be fixed. :) Best of luck and hope things get worked out for your group.
Since you've waited a few hours and no one has posted, I'll post, but it's not very helpful. First Question: I believe that question is answered in the Core Book under combat. Within the first few pages. Now, if you don't have the book, please post saying such and I'll go get mine and look for you. But, pretty sure it's in there, I think. Again, not trying to be snarky, but not sure myself without getting the book and reading it too. Second Question: If you use the search thread box, in the upper right hand corner, that may yield what you are looking for. I've seen posts of people asking what they think of builds or entire posts of builds people have made. Again, not trying to be snarky, trying to help the only way I know how. I myself, being newish to the boards, still being noob-like and learning the boards here too. Maybe have been a member since 20xx, but just now starting to use them, too. hehe. So while limited, hope that helps some and good luck. :)
Like tkul posted, pick what interests you and your group the most. Start with that, but maybe have hints dropped at a tavern or town/city criers blasting news around. Just make sure they realize this is background information, not a clue to run off and derail right out of the gates. But just focus on the one issue and branch out from there. Also, I've not followed FR since WotC has taken over, but don't be afraid to throw things out that you and/or group do not like. Remember, they may publish it, but it is the collective groups world, rehash parts that you all do not like or want. Hope this helps some and best of luck once you all start playing. :) Also, Paizo's Gamemaster book is a great source of information on starting out as a DM/GM w/e you want to call it. As you get more accustomed to playing and running games, then make your own house rules to balance the game as you and your group(s) play. But just starting out, play by the rules until you feel like you have a good understanding and then try to mix stuff up for more fun.
Well, not sure how well this will be received, no pun intended, but there is an OGL compliant d20 booked called: Book of Erotic Fantasy. If you really are interested in running a campaign based off of sexual experiences, I'd suggest buying it. Has everything from rules, classes, prestige classes, skills, feats, spells, toys, and even the disease(s) part. Again, don't shoot the messenger, just trying to help out a gamer that may be interested. :)
Lune, I like the idea about the necromancers. Maybe have them similar to FR's Cult of the Dragon with some twists? For the TRex, I think the Half-Dragon would be best. With the regular abilities of a dino+breath weapon, would be cool. My only concern would be would the CR reflect the true challenge of the encounter? Should be the group be a higher level before encountering this? Sorry for posting more questions than answers, just posting some things that may come to mind. Again, best of luck!
Not sure what to put as advice. From reading the whole thread, sounds like your group has some issues. While some people say your meta-playing, I read that everyone is, too. Maybe you do it more often then them, maybe you don't. Just not sure on this one. Sounds like the group needs to come together as a whole though and hash out some details on the do's and don'ts as a group. Like others have stated, everyone should be having fun. If everyone is not having fun, then something is wrong. To be a bit hagged off here and there, it happens. But sounds like some people are really upset over things. This should be addressed asap, before the group falls apart. Wish you the best of luck on this issue though. Hope all is worked out and you all have a great time playing. Without the issues, of course.
I don't make my own spells, honestly, I try not to play casters much at all. So, this is just my opinion, but if you increase the area of the spell, plus damage, shouldn't that be more along the lines of a 5th to 6th level spell? Not to sound like a rule lawyer here, but from what I remember, they say to use the current spells as guidelines, right? Fireball is a 3rd level spell, so is the damage in this "improved spell." Plus an increase in AoE with an increase of x/level. So, in my opinion, wouldn't that make your improved grease spell more along the lines of a 5th level spell? Instead of 3rd or 4th? Hope you don't think I'm slamming the idea. That is not my intention. Just trying to help on the level of power for the spell. :) Like the idea!
Another thing to point out, while the "player" may know what they are fighting and such. The "character" may not. Was this their first time running into one? If so, since you say this guy likes to RP a lot, he of ALL people should be doing that, instead of "omg, are there more then 2? That's not fair, QQ." So, while it may be rude, throw back in their face that they are losing opportunities to role-play even more by doing encounters like that. |
